Actual void houses are really cool. It's a shame that most are kept hidden since it's basically not allowed and made with mods.
>>11034 (OP) i haven't finished mine yet >>11091 those thumbnails look like modded minecraft what mods do you need to do that?
>>11094 it looks like they just made a build in the void area of the house but modded or photoshop'd the black skybox to a different one
>>11094 If you want a void house just put this in your plugin repository https://github.com/LeonBlade/BDTHPlugin since it makes glitching instant. If you put a bed in the void and /doze near it you can get there and start building.

I love these walls, but they take so many slots to replicate

What are some good furniture pieces that could be used to create a star like effect? This is my room so far, and I'm trying to go for a night sky balcony effect. Any ideas?
>>11219 Carbuncle lights clipped behind furniture
>>11219 >>11221 I forgot. I was working on a build with a starry faux window recently, if you float candles behind a wall and vary the depth those also pass for believable stars
>>11090 I really like this one, it's about as close you can get to vaporwave aesthetics with the finite furnishings you have as resources in this game, it's a small detail but I really enjoy the illuminated planters by the staircase. It's strange, but the really outdated graphics of XIV actually help make this build that much better. >>11091 These are all so nice. While I tried building into the void once, I just made a kind of terrible jump puzzle. It really makes me yearn for the format Maple Story 2 did its houses in, though I could do without the minecraft tier cubes. I wish it was a more freeform box that you could make a custom layout for without having to do any elaborate tricks to get there. It's impressive they achieved as much detail as they have here, though the newer furnishings do have a lot more nice small details to them than ones from say, HW and ARR did which helps a bit (it looks like a lot of Stormblood themed pieces in them?). I really like the moogle rug being repurposed as a sand zen garden thing, and the steps being repurposed for roofing. >>11219 like the other anon said, the extra stuffed carbuncle/carbuncle lanterns is a good start if you want a twinkle to the stars, but the assorted candle furnishing is good for a steadier, and imo a bit more realistic looking glow. I've seen people use "undersea spoils" and "deadman's chest" as well, those both have more of a gold/warm twinkle to them compared to the carbuncle stuff. I'd use the housing preview with BDTH and see what you like best for the effect. I think deadman's chest is synthesizable with drops from Satasha (Hard) it's not too bad to make even at a pretty low level of crafting
>>11147 The sky in most of these pictures are just done with a reshade depth filter, but there are actually mods that can place a more elaborate skybox into the void, mostly for houses with their own Mare Synchronos and is done with a static minion like a campfire (iirc) >>11094 Makeplace is another big mod housing designers use as it lets you build freely in a third party program and then import it into the game given you can provide the furniture.
Is auto-demolition still on pause?
>>11367 on NA? Yeah, I think the one from the wildfires is still active across all DCs (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/42302171d97e387897fe52c0a5f9308992a346bf) In fact, I think the original end date for the hurricane one and the commencement of this current one were Jan 8th and Jan 9th of this year respectively. Not really sure if it was off between those days or not.
>>11369 This gave me a heart attack lmao
>>11369 >>11371 >>11373 Thanks, I’ll have to settle with an apartment for now...
>>11372 That's my bad, I didn't check the other news category. Sorry about that
Is Gridania still the best zone?
>>11577 If you like forests or a more natural feeling environment, then yeah, there's really no alternatives. Everything else feels way more suburban imo.
>>11587 I wish the goblet looked like the concept art.
>>11577 I heavily dislike the ugly brown rock wall jutting up everywhere on some plots but it's pretty nice as a district. My tiers are something like uhhh... Shirogane (near a nice path or the hidden spas) > Goblet (Brimming Heart area) > Gridania (for the most part) > Shiro Medium cornered by bamboo > All other Shiro > Empyreum (subdivision, periphery) > Mist (beachfront or that one medium on the hill) > Goblet (overlooking abyss) [powergap] >>> Goblet (crammed slum street) > Mist (near wall, I think these are honestly the worst ones) I am a strange Goblet enjoyer, but only if it's around the pool in the middle or the edges near the canyon. I don't really like beaches all that much and I had a mist plot that was like #57 and it sucked. I think Empyreum has some okay plots (I really like the one across from the snow patch with the cute lil snowmen) but it's sort of a bad zone, the only one you can't even fish in (what the fuck were they thinking???). I feel like they could have reflected the pillars and brume stratification a bit more, too, some more indepth underground places with the spa area in the center instead of just by 30/60 would have been neat. I think they've really phoned it in with the layout in Empy honestly, but Gob and Mist have some awfully claustrophobic plots. >>11635 All that said, yeah. It could have been a lot more.
Any ideas for 3d windowboxes?
>>11661 Can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean those setups where people have plants or waterfalls or something...? housingsnap is a really good idea for inspiration for any idea really. from just the front page I saw these: -https://housingsnap.com/43325 -https://housingsnap.com/43316 -https://housingsnap.com/43297 -https://housingsnap.com/42626 would something like that be in your avenue of interest or are you looking for like... idk, a window planter? they do just have some as items if that's what you mean though you might not be able to be too picky with what's in them.
>>11663 Like those! I tried making one, but it came out really.. flat? #3 looks really good, but it's not the urban setting I'm going for.
every nice looking setup takes up so many slots that you can’t even use the other floors
>>11678 I dunno how sleek you'd want to go for "urban" because there's ranges now there are ones in this vein: https://housingsnap.com/38317 ; https://housingsnap.com/31722 (neither have windows tho, {Please forgive me.}) https://housingsnap.com/40653 is probably the closest thing imo to what's been mentioned so far, if you don't mind city-scapes... (I think they used the indirect lighting for the top but not sure straight off what causes those beacon-ish lights on the top) https://housingsnap.com/39757 uses a similar technique with those waterfall partitions (and I think as well the desk you can get from Origenics for some of the lighting, just turned and sunken a bit) and then others that heavily source solution nine (like this https://housingsnap.com/43160) as inspo, if the latter you may wanna grind out some moon points for access to those super saturated new (nonmetal) dyes since they're really vivid and give more of a "newer" look to items when dyed. Do you want floor to ceiling windows? or something a bit smaller -- I think gaol partitions could work for a futuristic feeling (or some of the NieR crossover stuff), and whether or not you want foliage as well, certain urban environs might not have much of that, maybe at most some pesky ivy or a really diligent weed but I'd think you'd want something like the latter if you were making a more transitional space like an alley vs. a room/bar w/e. for the floor to ceiling window if you wanna avoid the rattan piece and also avoid the enclosed windows people make, I've seen some people use the mgp dance poles? it has a pretty clean look as long as you have enough above/below to hide the feet and sink or float it a bit. sorry to continually yap in here lmao, I love thinking about housing and how to evoke a certain kind of feeling. Oh, and I think for distant skyscrapers, people used lockers historically, but with lighting you can make some with pretty simple vendored items (with some roof lighting on them as a bonus): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0QjrlYo2Yw

the Orthos wall placard and lanterns like the elpis one or the lvl 95 dungeon one to make some shorter/more distant ones too, which I think some of the hs links did. even in a small or fc/apartment, you can have two indirect lights, so you could have one to make shorter shadows as well for lower buildings maybe
>>11699 damn all that typing and I forgot to include this with the lockers mention: https://housingsnap.com/43158 I honestly think the shadows look a bit more realistic, there's something about the cleanly defined lines that breaks the illusion for me in this one tbh

>>11375 >>11367 Just caught a tweet saying auto-demo is resuming 6 Jun. I don't know if anybody still checks here (the last two posts were also me ///) but I wanted to relay it here just in case! https://x.com/FF_XIV_EN/status/1923468511055315344 https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/1a87ee5d214eefc90727103fd265106a6642f64e
>>13213 thanks for the save i forgot about this game lmaooo
>>11699 >>11700 Took a break from the game but these are so far helping a lot with ideas, thank you!
2 days left to pop in your house, any that weren't refreshed during the pause demo on the 9th.
