Is SillyTavern the only frontend we will ever have? Anonymous 04/16/2025 (Wed) 04:52:29 No. 6252
The scripting support is infuriatingly bad, cards are simple and force you into standard formatting. Can't embed media, sounds, anything to make things more interesting.
SillyTavern has pretty consistently been a disappointment, and I desperately hope we get a better frontend sooner rather than later.
>>6252 >Can't embed media You can. >sounds You also can. >The scripting support is infuriatingly bad It's good enough, you likely won't be using it for anything that simple vars can't solve though. >cards are simple and force you into standard formatting That's on you.
>>6252 be the change you want to see in the world, champ.
I use Risu

I use Kobold AI, it aint' the best but it works and it's comfortable to me.
Risu is pretty good
>>6252 BEST IN SHOW
>>6429 Me too, but I still have use silly tavern on top. Kobold doesn't even save everything for you on it's own. But speaking of which; When are we getting a local tool that lets us see and pick tokens by likelihood and have it regen the text from a re-rolled token, like goose.ai did? That was such a smooth way of doing it.
>>6429 I want to fuck that Kobold
>>6294 >You can. >You also can. Wait what, how do I embed media into the card on ST?
>>6443 OP is clearly shilling Risu because it's the only usable frontend with embedded scripting. (for some definitions of usable). Too bad it's created by aliens with 7 eyes and 3 fingers, I can't explain this mess otherwise. >>6252 >cards are simple and force you into standard formatting Skill issue. Lorebook is a universal context builder.
>>6933 SillyTavern supports CSS and HTML. You can use third-party websites to import embeds. There's even a toggle in the SillyTavern configs for whether you want those to embed or not. https://chub.ai/characters/knickknack/kollage-e07328b2 Here's a use-case.
>>7011 >You can use third-party websites to import embeds. That's not the kind of embedding OP wants, retard. He wants assets that can be embedded into the card and distributed with it. Risu can do that.
>>7020 Oh. Lol.
>>6839 don't we all?
>>7020 What's the point? The model can't see none of that shit.

>write up a message >submit >ST decides to eat the message for some god forsaken reason >again
>>7011 >SillyTavern supports CSS the sidebars feel too cramped if you're on a screen smaller than 1080p or you're not dedicating the entire screen for the window. with my previous 768p monitor I'd always resize the window to trigger the media queries into displaying the sidebars full screen. what CSS can fix this?
People slowly come up with new frontends, here's a virtual vtuber waifu stt/tts for example: https://github.com/fagenorn/handcrafted-persona-engine But if you were to do something, perhaps submitting patches to ST might be the best way?
>>6429 this I especially like the adventure and story mode, I probably use them more often than chatbots
>>7317 Skill issue, or better yet make a bug report
I integrated my own into emacs. There's already ready made solutions for emacs but I found them too complicated. All LLMs work with a very simple API you just have to send a JSON to. It's quite trivial. So basically I can declare any open file as a chat with "LLM mode" and just freely have a conversation in the buffer. I recently added image support. It's a ton faster and much more light on resources. I replicated the few more advanced things I needed (automatic regex replace etc.) with a bit of elisp. I don't know why SillyTavern is such a complete mess but I'm never going back.
It's good for chatbotting, but it's absolutely horrendous for storytelling (pure text completion). Unfortunately, all the other storytelling frontends kind of suck as well
I tried using Risu but couldn't figure out if there's a way to have a global lorebook that can be used across multiple cards. In ST, it's nice to have a lorebook with an entry for each character or concept that I can toggle on or off in a chat, but Risu seems to only have lorebooks tied to each card individually. Is there some advanced setting I'm not seeing or does Risu not have anything similar?
>>9057 I actually wanna integrate that next into my emacs thing, have the AI generate the next sentence or next paragraph per keyboard combination and just hide away prompt, query etc.. I'm just not sure most models would do a good job at it.
>>6743 >But speaking of which; When are we getting a local tool that lets us see and pick tokens by likelihood and have it regen the text from a re-rolled token, like goose.ai did? That was such a smooth way of doing it. Mikupad does that
>>6252 >>6390 >>6443 >>6937 I found Risu too difficult to set up with local models. I've never used APIs to connect to cloud shit, but it seems every site or app is primarily oriented to this. I literally just want an html simple chat interface with a roster of characters and the ability to add profile images for each character that I can easily link to by back end API.
>>6252 Risu is made by Koreans, is it not? It's full of poorly written ESL and has bad documentation. At the moment, Silly is the only realistic frontend for power users. >>8988 Share the code. This could help other people.
>>6252 I cannot into SillyTavern.
Storypad is pretty decent.
