/co/ recommendations: Treasure Planet Anonymous 06/07/2021 (Mon) 22:51:07 No. 13815
So I was reading about the history of Disney and its downfall and something particular about this movie interested me on how Disney basically sabotaged its release and how the creators basically fought tooth and nail only to get fucked harder than Blues Clues in a pride parade. So was Treasure Planet a good send off to Disney's animation division? or was it actually a terrible film and the people who made it were only good because they were on a leash.
>a good send off to Disney's animation division That would be the Princess and the Frog.

>>13820 >That would be the Princess and the Frog.
It's a fantastic movie with an amazing soundtrack, great attention to detail, and a fun story. It's also very creative for a sci-fi movie, what with the solar ships and all. The intro portion (particularly the 12 years later part) gives me goosebumps. I actually saw this one in cinema with my dad and sister, instead of Pirates of the Caribbiean. I really, really liked Treasure Planet. I still like it.
>>13820 If anything, Home on the Range was the real last one, and Princess and the Frog was a failed attempt at reviving it.
>>13827 >It's a fantastic movie with an amazing soundtrack, great attention to detail, and a fun story. You forgot its one horrifying misstep.
>>13815 >So I was reading about the history of Disney and its downfall and something particular Never know MrEnter visited /co/. Fuggen love Silver in this. Not just as a father figure to Jimbo but his VA is a South African stage actor that picked out specifically for this and he's amazing. Sounds like a real pirate. Plus I love the design of his cyborg arm, fitting given the space faring setting he's in.
>>13815 >So I was reading about the history of Disney and its downfall and something particular about this movie interested me on how Disney basically sabotaged its release and how the creators basically fought tooth and nail only to get fucked harder than Blues Clues in a pride parade. I guess you haven't heard of the tragedy of John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood, where Disney purposely sabotaged the debut of $200 million movie, that took a century make, all because they foresaw a "better return" from their acquisitions of Marvel and Lucasfilm.
>>13829 Actually, P&tF was financial successful, and the response from Disney executives was to immediately crash any future ventures with Winnie the Pooh.
>>13835 >Fuggen I believe you mean "FUCKING"
>>13838 Silvar speaks withen accent, so it'd come outtas fuggen.
I think the only complaint I have is that Ben is annoying as fuck and him showing up so late makes it even harder to give a shit about him as a character.
I put second to Titan A.E on my list of favorite animated sci-fi movies. As one anon puts it, the soundtrack is phenomenal. Not a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls. But "I'm Still Here" will always be a favorite of mine.
>>13815 I think Treasure Planet is a pretty great movie. You would have to put in an awful lot of effort to fuck up any adaptation of Treasure Island. Though I have always thought that it was an "odd" movie. As in it doesn't really feel like a Disney animated move or something. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's almost how Black Cauldron doesn't feel like a Disney movie either despite being a good movie.
>>13897 >It's almost how Black Cauldron doesn't feel like a Disney movie either despite being a good movie. I understand what you mean. Dinosaur felt the same way. Like they took a chance with something new and then watched as nobody went to the theaters. As an aside, when Dinosaur came out, there was merch all over the place... for about a month. Then it all ended up destroyed or in a dollar store because no one bought it. Which sucked some dick, let me tell you, because my son LOVED that movie and trying to find ANYTHING for him to play with from that movie was impossible outside of a garage sale or a lucky find in a discount section.
Just going to leave this here.
I just realized something... if Disney INSISTS on remaking all it's animated films as real/3D, Treasure Planet deserves it far more than any other. I mean, they'd still fuck it up with woke shit, but it would be a lot more entertaining than fucking Cruella.
>>13905 But, there was already a Disney live-action version of Treasure Island. In addition to that, Cruella is the second time Disney has made a live-action remake of a live-action action of one of their animated films. The first time they did this "double remake" was with The Jungle Book.

>>13907 >But, there was already a Disney live-action version of Treasure Island. Yeah, but not SPACE Treasure Island. Plus it's in the public domain, so they'd never have to pay the author...just like they do with authors who are still alive.
>>13907 Not to come across as defensive, but Disney did alright by its 1967 and 1994 adoptions of the Jungle Book. Though, the 1994 film could have been more true to the 1942 film, with Kaa talking. If they gave him a speaking line of dialoguebefore he killed Boone, that would have been something. The 2016 film was just them trying to make money off a reinvented stone square wheel.
>>13904 It's good stuff

>>13925 >the 1942 film Sabu was GOAT Mowgli. >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabu_Dastagir
>>13815 It's still my favorite Disney movie to this day.

>>13815 The behind the scenes warfare that went on with this movie always seems to get deeper whenever it’s brought up again. Treasure Planet always stands the test of time, from the characters to the setting and staples of the story. I would prefer to agree with >>13829 that Home on the Range was the fatal animation.
I loved how deliciously evil Scroop's VA made him sound. I looked it up and it's Michael Wincott who seemingly shows up once in a blue moon to act in something and then disappear for a couple of years.
>>13833 Hey, it was either the cat or the kid's mom.
>>18443 >>18432 Don't forget they also follow starfish logic when it comes to giving birth.
i kind of remember that a youtuber claimed that disney lifted the ship designs from him, don't remember much about him other that he fact that im sure that he is a dude.
