i try but i just cant see the appeal of this shit, its a little girl show centered on ponies with a shit art style and cringeworthy infantile writing, why the fuck do so many people like this shit? all i can fathom is that they were exposed to it at a time when they were vulnerable to sexual imprints, seriously what other explanation is there?
>>29651 2009 was a different time; it'll never come back so no point in trying to understand why Anons liked it back then.

< on a slow board, a troll thread is better than no thread It had better writing than most other cartoons, the characters express emotions really well, there is good use of color, it's just visually appealing, and like that one anon said, it's comfy.
I do miss the horse. However, that time is over. It'll never be like it was.

It's not a bad show for the first 2, maybe 3, seasons. Not as good as Rainbow Brite, Strawberry Shortcake, Care Bears, or some of 80s MLP though.
>>29651 >ry but i just cant see the appeal of this shit, its a little girl show centered on ponies with a shit art style and cringeworthy infantile writing, why the fuck do so many people like this shit? underage ban. You don't know how dire was the cartoon industry between 2008 and 2011, MLP seemed like a godsend at the time.
>>30769 Hard disagree there.
>>29651 It started on /co/, which was always a rather faggy board that actually prided itself on being friendlier and more open than the rest of cuckchannel. Keep in mind this was before SJWs. It started largely as a joke, a joke of male autists being like "haha, I'm into this girl's show!" Most of them weren't even serious at first, but were just doing it to try to get a rise out of people. But then some people were like "you know, actually it's not that bad." Their standards were low, you see. The whole joke was that obviously it was not good, so being not as not-good as they expected made it look better to them. But it was still very much about annoying others on /co/ and other boards, as they spammed it everywhere because they knew it annoyed people, and it annoyed people because they spammed it everywhere. Nobody else cared what show it was, but what happened was that people started spamming images of this show, so this was the show that became hated, and then more spammed because they found it funny to spam a thing people hated. And when I say spam, I mean things like, for example, if someone posted a single reaction image from the show, some other autist would come in and say "oh is this a pony thread now?" and then dump images of the show until the thread reached autosage. Over time enough new people came in that didn't know or care about the origin. Many of them were in it for "the community" more than the show itself. It doesn't matter what the show was. They were "the fandom." The roving band of autists that goes from "fandom" to "fandom," because the real point is just being part of what they view as a "community." A lot of the bronies were probably into Homestuck immediately before, and maybe Avatar before that, and Sonic before that. After MLP, they'd be into Adventure Time and Steven Universe and Undertale. And yes, it's not all literally the same people. Some fall off, new ones join, but it's the same community. And yes, there are also those that are sincerely into the actual thing and not "the fandom," but those ones aren't the problem, and thus not the ones that get talked about. Those ones aren't the ones who made cringy Deviantart Sonic pictures in the mid-2000s, they're the ones who got hired to make actual Sonic games/movies/cartoons a decade later. That said, I'm not aware of if there are any bronies of this calibre. I find it hard to believe. For an example of the attitude that lead to the initial growth of bronies, see this very thread. One autist with bad taste refuses to defend it, but instead revels in others calling him out on his bad taste. Now multiple this by about a million.
>>30770 The Hub was a godsend in general. Between MLP, Dan Vs. and Transformers Prime it seemed like that channel had a real shot at being the last bastion of decent western animation.
>>30772 Do you thing the more adventure oriented (and well executed) season openers and finales also had something to do with that?

>>29651 >i try good job faggot, you lost me in 4 letters. Go suck a dick, because you obviously lack willpower to form your own opinions and just try please some social group you ended up to be a part of. Grow a spine and walk away, you will never look back. >>30772 >It started largely as a joke This guy knows his shit. It started part as a joke, but most importantly, part of this horrible "make retarded websites with forums to lure in lolcows", the quite possible worst idea in the history of humankind. It's up to debate if it was the worst idea, but this brony shit turned me to a bitter oldfag I am today. See, infiltrating fan forums and making fun of the autists is an age old tradition, but some galaxy brain retards descided to cut the middle man and create those forums themselves. And obviously it backfired like a landwhale rimjob gone wrong. The MLP autists overran everything, making a joke into reality, polluting everything. >For an example of the attitude that lead to the initial growth of bronies, see this very thread. One autist with bad taste refuses to defend it, but instead revels in others calling him out on his bad taste. Now multiple this by about a million. Top tier posting. The autistic weak willed retards, that would have gone with any fandom if pushed, found one fandom in MLP and boldened. The unstoppable wave of gringe drowned all the forums, real and fake. In a way, the massive autism of the internet won over the massive retardness of the trolls.
>>30782 It kinda was and Prime, along with MLP, helped sold it. They just should have kept going with Canuck toons for slot fillers.
>>30772 Cartoons in general are in bad taste, I remember before MLP /co/ was in to Ruby Gloom an extremely cheap looking Canadian show where nothing ever happened.

(147.96 KB 960x640 fedora all of mlp.jpg)

>>29651 >why the fuck do so many people like this shit? Because it might just have been the first cartoon for girls that wasn't completely retarded. Later on, it would become cancerous with SJW shit, but MLP:FIM made a girl's cartoon that spoke to them, not down to them, and my daughter loved the hell out of it much more than the third generation MLP DVD she'd received two years prior. And it was actually pretty watchable, as long as one didn't go fucking bananas and buy a fedora.
Does anyone have a chart showing which episodes of MLP:FiM are worth watching? From my understanding, majority of the quality writing just evaporates from the later seasons to the point it's not worth watching, and Equestria Girls actually picks up much of the quality content.
(568.66 KB 399x851 Dad and his brony son.png)

>>30795 Not surprising that was the main cause on why everyone started pulling this bullshit of hate speech laws, in which cuckchannel got affected by it thanks to legitimate spergs with troll's remorse who all of the sudden wanted to be accepted by their reddit fuckbuddies. SOPA and PIPA won, words are a much worse crime than murder and rape.
I know you're here Tamers, just go back to doing SU before you step on a massive sperg landmine. >>41588 Just avoid anything related the main cast's younger sisters and anything that focuses on a character you dislike would be my advice. Early seasons have catchier songs. Rainbow Rocks has the best soundtrack of anything mlp related, suck it.
>>41588 I don't have a chart on hand, but I could cobble together one later based on my own experience with watching it, if you want. For now, I can offer you a quick summary of the seasons I watched. >Season 1 is comfy with only a few shitty eps >Season 2 is more action/adventure oriented, but it shits on Rainbow Dash, and the toy marketing influence starts noticeably bleeding through by the end >Season 3 is cut in half for the sake of Equestria Girls and is a mixed bag that prematurely ends Twilight's entire character arc >I only saw the first 2 EG movies, but they were fun for what they were >Season 4 is a decent ride that builds up to a literal mystery box, but the only payoff is symbolically burning the original S1 appeal to the ground >Season 5 is so high on its own farts, stuffed with forced memes, fandom circlejerking, and half-assed plots, that the finale had me drop the show >Any episodes that got recommended to me afterwards were just mediocre
>>41647 >Season 3 is cut in half for the sake of Equestria Girls and is a mixed bag that prematurely ends Twilight's entire character arc What was so bad from her becoming a Ali (apart from the obvious toy angle)?
>>41664 Not him, but for me, I was annoyed at the specific episode that led to her becoming an alicorn. Felt like at least they could've had a more interesting challenge for Twi to have to go through that would lead to Celestia thinking she was a good fit to be an alicorn. The toy angle is fine, they just needed a better justification for it in the specific episode.

(580.39 KB 764x4300 289983.jpg)

(322.58 KB 900x1858 260248.jpg)

>>41664 Mostly I didn't like how the writers obviously didn't plan for it, so it goes pretty much nowhere, and that it messed with her dynamic with the rest of the Mane 6. This is supported by fact that they just plopped a stylistically clashing crystal castle in Ponyville and Twilight says "I guess I'm Princess of Friendship now", and that by season 6 they had a surplus of socially inept unicorns to learn basic friendshit again, because Twilight is all tapped out on that front. I always knew Twi was going to become an alicorn, being the apprentice to the god queen and all, but I had ballparked it as a final season/series finale/epilogue sort of thing, because where else can you go with her after that? >>41672 I agree that the episode itself didn't do enough to justify it. Celestia sings a song about her basically graduating her apprenticeship, and it's only because she figured out a cryptic riddle about a spell with no clear purpose. The premise of swapping Cutie Marks was poorly executed too, it didn't make a lot of sense given what the show already established about Cutie Marks.
>>29651 its the anime for western people, it fits all the notes >cute animals to fit the furfaggotry of western people >very colorful to attract all the autists and emotionally stunted people >each character has a gimmick so there is plenty of archetypes to chose from >wide open eyes/white hair and light eyes, each race is inspired by white culture earthponies are americana, unicorns are french and pegasi are romans/greek so sjw have to try their damn hardest to bend them to fit in their bipoc fetish >autists can vicariously live though them since the show is about friendship and they have no friends >each episode is about a character struggles with a flaw that is very common among young people and autists/emotionally stunted so its highly relatable to them
>>42216 And the uncontrolled autismo, now that was the real deal before politics, too bad Blueyfags and LoudHouse-spergs got it easy now that social media has been censored to hell.
Charles Manson once said, before the internet was widespread being a mentally deranged loony meant something. Now everyone's acting "crazy" and it's become a meaningless performance. Or something like that.
>>42237 >"I was crazy before it was cool" What a faggot

>>44115 >>44112 Do tell more if you wish toexpand upon your opinions. Why are these choices your favourites
>>44118 Fluttershy's nice, sweet, & gentle. She's also very fond of animals. Applejack's a hard worker with strong family ties plus she has freckles.
>>44118 Because all four together are basically the elements of anime girl archtypes. Maud: Kuudere Pinkie: Deredere (or yandere if you're a fag who loves creepypasta) Marble: Dandere Limestone: Tsundere It's a fun dynamic to see.
It's cute and funny.

>>44138 Cunny? What do you mean by that?
(302.68 KB 2048x2048 CMC.jpg)

>>44147 UUoooohhhhh, horse cunny!!
>>29651 Don't try understanding it, the degree of autism necessary to like it sits outside of the bounds of the human psyche
>>44184 It’s a decent show, minus the brony shit. Most of the episodes are written by Rob Renzetti early on. Which I don’t think anyone would feel shame for liking My Life as a Teenage Robot (and at least one was made by Chris Savino, so add the Loud House to that list) Of course the going theme is that all these guys are friends with Lauren Faust’s husband Craig McCracken, but that’s beside the point. In the early seasons it’s a perfectly passable show for girl 6-11 with enough decent writing that parents won’t want to rope themselves watching it. Unfortunately, it suffered from the same success Adventure Time had. Being a decently written kids show appearing after the two year drought left by The Last Airbender going off the air, so of course people would declare it THE BEST THING EVAR!!!!1!1! Then add in a dollop of furry to the mix, and you had the brony shitshow we,be seeing for the next fifteen years almost

>>44186 Does anyone got the screencap of a guy complaining to Hasbro's facebook account because some neckbeards kept telling him he was a casual for buying one simple MLP doll to his daughter?
>>44192 Ah I remember the time when you were allowed to make fun of people. >>44184 some people can watch through it just through waifufaggotry alone atleast imho and as much as weird that sounds inreality the (mares? Females? Girls?) of the show aren't that bad minus them being ponies. That and what >>44186 and add in the fact that bronies were born on 4chin. So you can't be suprised by the autism.
I liked the Gen 5 movie. I still like the ponies. It sucks one has to hide their love of it due to how infamous the fandom got, but at least it seems "okay" to mention Precure.
>>29651 Because for some people, the idea of a stable society with virtually eternal lifespans are attractive.
>>29973 > fucking BABY TIER not even CHILD TIER I mean this is factually innocent, show's rating is like 7+, is frequently shown in general kids blocks, references adult media offen, and was censored in the one preschool tv channel it was apart of in Canada. Also >holobrony
>>29958 you’re wife is fucking other guys.
>>45994 >>46052 Guys you're replying to anons from 2 and half years ago
>>46053 Better late than never.
>>29651 >shit art style Shit taste. >cringeworthy infantile writing Some parts of it are bad, but if this is a major complaint then that means what it does well is going over your head. >>29958 >cute ponies doing cute pony things This is not FiM. It is not a show of nothing but empty fluff.
>>29958 The Littlest Pet Shop show that came out during MLP FIM was actually pretty good.
>>29651 First it was a joke that went out of hand. The people who popularised it first were (from my experience) into things like guns and 40k and watching MLP with dudebros at a WWII convention was funny because of the absurdity. Kind of like how Hightower from Police Academy used to be a florist, John Spartan enjoys knitting in Demolition man etc. Then people realised looking at cute things is enjoyable unironically and probably went too far.
>>29651 For the first two seasons, the narratives and characterizations for a children's show weren't that bad. Can't comment on anything after that. Season 3 was already getting lazy and I dropped it after that.
Anyone here from >>>/mlp/ after the wipe?
>>50698 What happened?
>>50698 >all this because Acid decided to use German servers Not really my place to comment on the /zoo/ situation but a do have a story to tell regarding /mlp/. When 8chan became a thing the main pony board was /pone/. It was actually fairly active and they had their own weekly podcast. Once 8chan was getting nuked left to right, I actually went around collecting some boards (which is how I got /co/) to save them from being wiped when the pigfarmer was building 8kun. So once I secured /pone/ i actually hunted down their old BO named GEP and tried to convince him to come back. Sadly he showed no interest and everyone else that I asked to run /pone/ declined. /pone/ died and most of the users went to the other bunkers. With the recent hack we finally saw an actual 8/mlp/ with no relation to /pone/. But id disagree with the decision to allow actual feral horse porn on the board, i know it differentiated itself from the other sites but actual horses shouldn't be mixed in with cartoons. Acid is also foolish for trusting the Germans, i dont like /zoo/ but getting rid of it hurts 8moe's image and Acid's whole free speech mantra. So the sooner it comes back the better.

>>50699 >>50699 >/mlp/ mods are pro/zoo/ >/zoo/ is banned by the registrar >/mlp/ posting /zoo/ flies under the radar after the ban >4cuck hack brings refugees, increased traffic and eyes >On /site/ someone snitches and brings up /zoo/ is being posted on /mlp/ >/site/ deletes /zoo/ threads without saying anything >/mlp/ b0 mad and thinks its censorship, deletes every thread as protest without contacting /site/ >/site/ thinks the b0 has gone rogue and strips /mlp/ b0 of ownership >/site/ permabans b0, deletes protest thread, locks board. I talked to codexx earlier, getting him to unlock the board He says he's working on getting a backup of the board before the wipe. Both Acid and Codex say they tried contacting the b0 email over the misunderstanding, but no answer back. If nothing is heard from within close to a week /site/ will assign /mlp/ a new b0 instead of leaving it without a leader. >>50714 Nice to see someone >>50703 There is /pone/ on endchan, but they're probably not the originals. The irl horse posting on 8/mlp/ go back to /an/ crossposting on halfchan, it's been a thing for a very long time even nhnb allows sfw horses even though it's totally off topic from /fim/. On halfchan some irl porn gets posted there every now and then, so not surprising that one chan's pony board would end up with it.
>>50715 Thanks for the additional info.
>>50715 Trouble in paradise as well as here it seems.
>>50741 What's going on here?
>>50747 Read, also a certain "special" board died, a remnant shard of it tried to get resurrected (on accident) and then a shitstorm commenced. To put it bluntly, 8chan is not for normies, and arguably not for low-tier autists. Lets just put it like that...
>>50748 Are you talking about /zoo/ and /tot/?

what a show over a decade later and MLP and its consequences are still bringing me entertainment
>>50769 Yeah it's just weird how it became such a huge thing
>>41602 >before you step on a massive sperg landmine Tamers is such a nigger nowadays. He's letting his animations turn into another Homestuck.
>>29651 The world was cool and the characters were good. I stopped enjoying it as I got older but when it first came out it was a fun show. Obviously as they changed writers it had varying degrees of quality.
>ItsWalky >M Sipher >Jin Saotome Hasbro brand loyalists in general are notorious dumbasses
>>52834 It was okay early on, the Hasbro decided "sell this toy" mattered more so Faust walked, sick of Brian Goldner's shit. But that was it- okay. Nothing great. It only got any real attention for not trying to pander solely to girls but Hasbro is "durr target market". How Goldner didn't tank Hasbro is beyond me. The guy thought that live-action Jem movie would make a billion dollars too- the one that cost $1.5 mil to make but lost cash. Then he almost paid out of pocket to fund a sequel to it. The guy who said "fuck FIM fans" & refused to market to them. >Jem, a franchise no one recalls & every attempt to revive has failed, but dammit they'll try again!
>>54374 BTW Hasbro is good at pissing off decent writers with stupid ass demands. It's a miracle Larry Hama still works with them art all. His GI Joe comics were realistic. Hasbro wanted him to be more like the batshit crazy cartoon.
>Jin Saotome = known chomo
https://edramatica.com/Jin_Saotome Typical deranged antics of a Hasbro loyalist though. He'd buy dog poop if Hasbro sold it
