Iyanu Anonymous 04/05/2025 (Sat) 22:28:35 No. 44541
Based on the comic Iyanu: Child of Wonder comes Cartoon Network's newest animated series. Its like Avatar if it was based around African folklore instead of Asia. https://mega.nz/folder/995zhJiT#Em_REPerEvwO0FbQ-Nl4Ew
Aside from the Egyptians, there's nothing "cool" about African folklore. Even when I was in grade school, they were trying to pound this stuff into our heads, with things like reading us books on the rain season and Anansi or teaching us about countries like Ethiopia, and I just found myself bored with a lot of it.
>>44542 Africans simply don't have the same aesthetic appeal as Egyptians.
>>44541 >Its like Avatar if it was based around African folklore instead of Asia. The glowing eyes/tattoos are a bit on the nose.
>>44542 Ethiopia at least had the cool factor of being the "only Christian kingdom in Africa", though obviously that was oversold in many ways and was ruined by fucking commies by the time I was born. But yes, African folklore minus Egypt trails behind everywhere else. Europe, East Asia, India, even the American Indian folklore seems more appealing depending on which tribe it is. The only folklore less interesting than Africa is probably the Abbos.
>>44542 Egypt and the rest of North Africa don't even really count. It's hilarious when blacks try to act as if Egypt is the same as them when everyone knows they're arabs. And the cool Egypt wasn't even arab. Cleopatra was Greek. And I'm not enough of an expert to know the ethnicity of the people who built the pyramids thousands of years earlier, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and bet they weren't black. Hawaiian folklore seems pretty cool from what I've learned about it. Too bad Disney had to poison the well of adapting it with Moana. Then again, you're not allowed to adapt any traditional folk tales well now anyway. They all have to be ruined with some sort of modern politics infecting them.
>>44542 I remember reading Anansi back in elementary school and I personally thought it was a decent story. Other than that, I got nothing regarding African Folklore. That said, I just watched the trailer and it seems like an okay show. I'll have to check out the first two episodes to see if that's the case.
>>44551 >I just watched the trailer and it seems like an okay show <Obvious Akira reference <Two-toned hands and feet That's all I needed to see.
>>44541 >Its like Avatar if it was based around African folklore instead of Asia. That's nor exactly high praise if you ask me. Im sick of gay nigger cringe. This shit is probably just as off putting to blacks as it is to me at this point. The magical brown girl meme needs to be old yeller'ed yesterday. It's been 5 fucking years of this shit.
>>44542 Well, in fact the most interesting black folklore isn't geographically African but it's Haitian Voodoo, it's basically african tribal beliefs mixed up under christian influence that developed under slavery. The worldview is very fatalistic and unique. Modern zombies come from there They should go all out and portray zombies, cannibals, niggas wielding machetes, voodoo witchcraft which is unique on its own and their Deities acting more like demons. The potential is great. A soundtrack like this would kick ass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_z3KkZWE5k I just wish they did that instead of doing some anime-y show but with black characters and call it a day. It'd be actually more respectful to black people by portraying it how it is
>>44541 So far the show seems ok. Not blowing anyone away but alright. Doesn't seem to have found much of an audience yet it seems.

>Niggers
>>45535 French? Looks french
>CN Dead on arrival. Going to get death slotted like every other action cartoons CN murdered. Should have aired on AS/Toonami.
>>45538 Very close, it's a Belgian comic
>>44557 >Two-toned hands and feet What does that mean?
(926.60 KB 1920x1080 1733077572558.png)

>>45694 I believe he means something like this. Where the pigmentation on the hands and feet is lighter than the rest.
>>45674 They gave it the Saturday morning time slot for its episode premiers. That's apparently a good slot? It's when Disney does all their premiers now and Cartoon Network has done a couple then too. I don't think they're trying to set the show up for failure. They're advertising it a decent amount. Though I still don't know if I really expect anything from it.
>>45703 Oh So they're going for a more realistic approach to skin tone then
>>45705 So far yes. That seems to be the idea from the couple of shots of Iyanu herself and some of the other characters. Most of the shots anyway as I remember.
