NTA but yeah, you're right, though there are other ways of doing things. I play mostly canons and my profile "completion" rate skyrocketed when I started doing "headcanon/misc" bullet points instead of, not in addition to, para bios.
>If the character is popular a backstory dump is a waste of everyone's time, if they're niche nobody really cares enough to read All That Shit: By Anon! or might be unnecessary spoiler-y
>Easier to read as well as write, can be as snappy (or not) as I please, also a better litmus test as to whether I have enough ideas for the character/grasp of their voice to sustain a profile or not because part of the bullet points will be hooks even if they're not labeled as such
>Allows me to channel my autistic devotion to the character/property and demonstrate that I know my shit without veering directly into the weeds
>Also allows me to demonstrate personal theories and "OC-ifications" so people know what to expect from me and the way I interpret my character, which can range from small bits of essentially flavor text to making an ultimatum on gender debates to essentially making an OC from scratch because they're so poorly defined in canon
My custom descriptions are there to prove that I know how to write. The bullet point bio is there to tell you what you're working with without subjecting you to all the fat from my terrible summarization skills.
