I've never understood DMing. Are all these DM profiles actually more open to one-shot sex quickies than they seem to be advertising, or how are people maintaining interest in what seems like a worryingly sexless story genre? What are these profiles actually doing when they get down to playing?

Basically if you're comfortable with a system/have high system mastery as Gygax would put it you can easily just make shit up as you go along. While if you do any prep you only need minimal prep to provide them with loads of content due to the basically purposeful exploration of bad ends. Plus any concept you think of and prep which doesn't get used can just be used on someone else. Then we can get into modifying modules to be sexual which reduces the load even further. Actually playing something of about RHOD duration (what I'd consider a quick and dirty solo campaign) can take dozens of sessions thanks to this bad end bloat.

With all the discussions about what's popular and what isn't I always get tempted to gather some data. Asking people for the character types they have, what the main kinks are, bio lengtg, inline quality, etc and then seeing if there are any actual trends. However normalising for RP quality is practically impossible with how subjective it is and there's so many variables that you'd want a massive sample size to boot.
