You can find whatever you want in the US. There are basically 3 main issues with foreign guns though:
Pre/post ban import status
Supply/demand of items that aren't in production
Context of time- Items no longer produced that were not valued at its primary time of use due to various factors such as inferiority among competition or low perceived public value
For problem 1, we can use the AK-12 as an example. You can't import them because they're too new, Russia has been on the import ban list for a while. The only way to get one of these is to have the "non firearm" parts shipped into the US and someone rebuilds them on the back of "firearm" parts that already exist in the country or will be manufactured by someone in the country. This leads AK-12s to cost somewhere in the ballpark of $4k.
For problem 2, we can use the PA-15 as an example. MAB, in addition to not really being big time like MAS (FAMAS) was fully shut down in the 80s. It's price being upwards of $1k is a result of very limited supply of an import only item that didn't have the same level of mass production as a lot of other guns.
For 3, we can use the Hanyang 88 as an example. This gun is a little uncommon but not rare on the US market and it is not expensive. The problem is CN guns from this era are 99% of the time you find them, they're beaten to hell. While still safe and functional, they need more TLC than you, as the average consumer, is capable or willing to provide. In the past 3-4 years, I've seen basically three that were in good condition. Also, since this thing was a direct copy of a still plentiful German gun, it is nobody gave two shits about the CN variant and likely treated them as beaters.
I would say that overall, demand affects the cost of something more than anything though. You can buy plenty of guns that aren't legally considered 'firearms' from the 1800s for less than what you'd pay for any run of the mill modern handgun.
Thank you for coming to my autistic stream of consciousness.

Same shit, but I tend to get stuff older or more weird than that. 4/12 of my guns were direct influence, while 2 more of them were partial
