I don't really want to undermine the mod and janny powers here, just want to solidify the regulatory framework our wuwuwawa anons should follow.
I've looked at the rules, janny anon and underlined some salient points that should be maintained in order to maintain the running of free speech in our board.
There's no rules banning topics going off of tangents. The conversation started from an innocent topic of VAs.
Some anons made crass and violent remarks. Those anons, if the moderator team or the janny team deems to be violative of Rule 5 and Rule 6, so be it I don't have any disagreements with that. They can just provide a valid reason and then chuck their posts to the bin.
But the other anons discussing the actions of that said Genshin VA and how he routed other VAs from voice acting at Snow Break shouldn't really be considered as breaking any rules since they're just expressing their opinions on the matter. It can tangentially return to the topic of wuwa because there are valid concerns that certain VAs might not voice act in wuwa. They're not trying to incite any gacha wars between wuwa and their game but only providing their opinion in good faith. That's the beauty of allowing free organic speech amongst the people. You get to discuss a myriad of topics and somehow relate it to /wuwa/ since this is a wuwa thread.
In my opinion the valid action should have been to moderate and delete posts that break Rule 5 and Rule 6 but retain the prior discussions about VAs. Just nuking everything makes the moderation and janitorial team liable to accusations of censorship. That is where the other stuff I've underlined comes into play.
>Hands off approach
>Allowance of self-moderation from innocuous shitposting
>Stepping in only when something gets out of hand or is clearly unwanted by the general
The calls to violence was clearly out of line from the moderation team stand-point and I respect that. The prior conversations, did it really necessitate the application of a heavy hand? There was no intent to start or incite a thread war or gacha wars, we have no beef with /gig/ or /zzz/ or /hsr/ here in 8ch but it should be within our free speech to call out dubious and bad industry practices right?
/wuwa/ since the 4ch days have always talked about a wide variety of things since a lot of the early constituents of the threads came from other gacha games like /nikg/, /bag/, /gig/... etc. (insert the wuwa frens.png here) and the like so topics or matters that have an overlap in terms of issue, industry practices, or developer policies tend to be a semi-frequent topic of conversation and compared and contrasted with how wuwa and Kuro does things, how they should or should not do particular things.
Now it should be acknowledged that there are bad elements that try to hijack said topics andthat's where
>looking at the user's post history
>checking if they've made meaningful contribution to the thread
comes in, right? Trolls and baitposters have been getting very creative as of late and it takes some constant vigilance from everyone in /wuwa/ to maintain the peace and security that we enjoy here but everyone so far here has been collaborative in reporting would-be do-no-gooders. It's easy to spot them since they take off the mask after a couple of posts anyway.
Just a couple of my cents.
