Maybe it's me, but I found the integration of banner characters pretty well done. Everyone showed up at least 1 patch before their banner, Mydei+Tribbie were in 3.0, Anaxa in 3.1, Cipher in 3.2, and Hyacine even a patch earlier in 3.1. So you get a good feel for their personality. Plus they basically revealed all the heirs in the 2.7 and 3.0 livestreams. Compared to that, Penacony had a way rougher introduction with some characters. You only see Boothill in 2.2 itself, the patch he was released, 2.1 only had a very short dialogue with only his voice. Robin had two very short scenes in 2.0 and then was gone until her banner. Even Jade was only in the Aventurine flashback, and then did nothing until 2.3. It still kinda worked because the Penacony characters were so instantly likeable, but some entirely relied on that. Boothill only got his backstory in 2.6. So personally I like the way Amphoreus does better.
>character is introduced
>they do a thing and become a demigod
>they die
I mean, this is very reductive. Of course they become demigods, because that is the goal of the entire flame-chase journey. But you have Aglaea, Tribbie and Cipher who are already demigods. And they don't even die quickly, for instance Aglaea is alive from 3.0 until 3.3. And Phainon isn't even a demigod and he was introduced in 3.0 as well. I agree that there is a basic formula, but I find the way they vary it enough to keep it fresh. Like Mydei had his farewell as the main thing and then a death scene that was an afterthought, Castorice is technically still alive, Anaxa had his constant banter with the titan itself before suiciding. But I get your point, if you can't connect with the characters then their arc seems meaningless and you only see this pattern.
