Alright, I don't know if that one anon is here but it's time for champion arena discussion because I keep putting it off and I want to post about it before the next season. I don't know how to order any of this but what I'm gonna do is talk about teams, matchups, betting strats and other shit I noticed while tryharding predictions. I'm just a shitter who failed the last prediction for the silver frame and this is still a work in progress so feel free to share your own thoughts/experiences with champion arena too. Also this'll be about predictions for champion arena, not participating. I'm also on JP server so I imagine there may be some vague differences compared to other servers. >Teams First off I'd like to talk about teams. As a massive presupposition, the biggest contributor to outcome in champion arena is team comp, as surprising or unsurprising as that may be. In a way most of the current teams are in a pseudo rock-paper-scissors position where each team wins and loses to a different meta team, the teams are as follows. >Nero/Moran stall team I believe this is the strongest team currently. Core units are Nero/Moran/Helm/Rapu + 1. Variants I've seen are Laplace/Kiri in the 5th slot. This team beats the S team, S.Anis team and the Cindy team, which I'll describe further below. Essentially this team has insane burst gen through helm + 2 RLs, taunts and huge survivability through moran/nero. Nero/Moran will generally tank any burst and survive long enough to clean up afterwards. High speed makes it so that you get burst off first almost always, even matching S team speed. Rather even if you're slightly behind, S can't kill nero and S's team has no survivability so you'll ultimately win even if it drags out. For the same reasons are why this comp beats out the other stall teams. This team does however lose to the shotgun team, which I'll explain next. >Shotgun team Soda/Drake/Viper/Rozanna + 1. I've seen naga/noire as variants here. The two major mechanics for this team are that they're all the same weapon type minus rosanna and that they'll all focus the enemy first slot from the start of the match. The second being abusing rosanna's kit for kill pressure. Essentially you put soda in the first slot since you want her for passive buffs but she's useless otherwise and needs to die first. Viper with treasure will gain temp immunity, rosanna is stealth and you want drake to burst 3 for kills. Units dying quick doesn't matter since rosanna will usually clean up + gain burst bar which makes this team kill really fast. I've seen this team beat the Nero team by simply killing nero instantly due to focus fire, disabling burst and cleaning up. This team does however lose stall/immunity namely through blanc/noah/taunters because they have no means of killing or surviving late in the match. I don't know the character limit so cont.

The only real downside is that you need exactly this team to make it work and that means taking all of these high tier pvp units from other teams. I also don't have noah so I can't use it in the first place. >S. Maiden team Rei (eva b3), jackal, blanc, S.Maiden, RH. I've seen some fags substitute RH for other shit but RH seems to be the strongest pick here in my opinion. Positioning slightly varies with rei/jackal in slot 1. So this team is essentially centered around blanc's guts and s.maiden's burst. Maiden's burst targets individually similar to cindy so she'll wipe enemies with each individual shot. Blanc's guts and jackal's damage split ensures either maiden/rei/RH get the guts buff and keeps them alive long enough to burst. RH is a sub burst in case jackal dies immediately and can obviously clean up with B3 if that's how it plays out, she also contributes insane burst charge speed. This team beats out the shotgun team thanks to damage split preventing instakills and guts ensuring the B3 gets off which will obviously wipe shotguns since they have no sustain. This team does however lose to S because of speed/dies before blanc can burst, and to the cindy team because noah immunes the burst and the team has nothing else in the tank. >S team S/Trina/soda/anis/centi. I've seen the soda pick quite a bit, sometimes subbed with RH. The soda pick is more common. This team is very straight forward, giga high charge speed, S in the first slot to proc her passive and a screen wipe burst. This team has been used forever but now that jackal is elsewhere, simply putting S in slot 1 seems to do the job because matches end instantly with how fast the burst is. This team beats the shotgun team do to speed/S passive slurping the shotgun focus fire which insta kills a couple units along with her burst. This also should be the maiden team again because the burst kills blance before she can burst. S usually dies immediately after bursting but it's irrelevant because the enemy team is already dead. This team loses to the nero/moran team because it can't kill anything however. These are the 5 "meta" teams I'm seeing currently. A big thing to note is that not everyone will have every unit, there will be missing units or subs especially earlier on in the series because noobs don't have complete rosters where as the guys that make it to the end do. Teams are pic related which I'll use the two guys in my finals as an example. Cont.

Because each team wins/loses to a different team of the 5 you can assume that the comp that wins the matchup will usually win the match, of course that's not 100% due to some factors I'll mention later but assume comp trumps all in most cases. Now that being the case, the actual matchups are determined by which slot you put your teams in when participating in champion arena. I don't participate so I can't say for certain but essentially when you join you pick your five teams, assign them to slot 1-5 and that's how they'll stay for the duration of the season. Naturally this results in a lot of luck because if you assume equal power/investment etc., which it'll never be, then you could win/lose depending on the order of your opponent's teams. As a participant this sucks but it's also a massive factor to predicting correctly. Also while it's probably obvious by this point, predicting is all about choosing who you think is going to win. The incentive being the frames for picking the winner the entire season + credits or picking the loser the entire season. Honestly once you have both frames and aren't participating/don't care about credits then there's really not much value in even engaging with champion arena. But if you're a minmaxer/short on credits or like pvp and want to use champion arena strats in special arena then it's still pretty valuable in my opinion. >strats So this is the bread and butter of predictions and where it gets into schizo territory because wew lad there are so many factors to consider than you might immediately think. This list won't be exhaustive but below are what I've been thinking about/using this last season which got me all the way to the end guessing correctly. Also pic related is the outcomes of the finals for my server, names blotted out just because. I got 4/5 correct but fucked up with the final prediction because I expected an upset due to unit investment but I ended up being wrong which I'll talk about more below. >Team comp Assume we're going to start predicting for the season and we're looking at the options. Start with comps. Do they have every unit? How many subs do they have? Do they even have all the teams? Does it look like they just filled their teams with dogshit? If you're trying to predict the winner and there's a huge comp difference, pick the guy with better comps. >Dolls Assuming they have identical teams, look at individual units. Does one guy have significantly better dolls than the other? Are the treasure units maxed? If there's a clear difference, pick the guy who has better dolls. >Core level If dolls are identical, look at core levels. Does one guy have significantly higher core levels than the other? Pick the guy with more core levels, carries naturally have more value than supports. >CP If core levels are the same look at CP, is there a massive gap in CP? 500k+? Pick the guy with higher CP. Is the CP equal? Then look at the carries, if there's a massive gap in carry CP then pick the guy with stronger carries. cont.

Open that shit up, look at their lineups, frames, comment, rep, campaign/tower progress, synch, costumes owned etc. What you're trying to determine is how tryhard they actually are. Are they whales/SR nerds and have a bunch of frames? Then maybe their units are juiced too, though that might not apply to pvp units. Do they have a bunch of pvp/prediction frames? Then maybe they have a good idea how pvp works so their pvp units might be highly invested at the cost of their SR/campaign units. Are they the kind of fag who hides their units behind rikkers in their profile? Maybe they're more obsessed than you'd expect. Like all you're looking for is a hint as to how that player is engaging with the game to get an idea of how they invest in their units. Naturally there's no way to verify this shit but it could certainly give you an edge if everything else seems identical. >Odds The little bar you see of the % of people who voted for either participant. Honestly this is not really worth considering for the most part. It's the true "guess" option. Most people are likely not engaging to any deep extent with champion arena so this number is basically random/chosen on a whim. I personally don't think I've ever guessed correctly trying to follow this number. >mirror matches I guess the only other thing worth mentioning is mirror matchups though it should follow the same logical flow. Whichever team looks more invested/has the better slot order should theoretically win. Rng factors like crit or other decimal % shit are likely not worth considering since the other factors have much more weight. I think that's about it though I'm very likely forgetting something. Again all of this is just my experience so far and is still in progress but I'm kinda getting more into pvp and this is the kind of strat I'm working with right now. I could certainly be wrong on any number of things but I imagine I'm one of the few people actually doing this shit so I would hope it provides some guidelines for anyone interested in champion arena. If you have any questions or differing opinions I am down to discuss. Also if you're wondering how I figured any of this shit out, literally vod review. You can watch the individual matches at each stage of champion arena and see how different teams perform. As this directly contributes to the comp outcomes it's easily the strongest tool available to you.

However, there is one thing that you’ve missed on, and that it is RIDICULOUSLY expensive to work. Both Nero and Moran need to be 10/10/10, SR15, fully OL’ed, and at least MLB to be able to work properly. Otherwise, they will become shitters. For example, I lost my last cheer streak because my opponent’s stall team was so shit, my Sanis comp fucking stomped him >SG comp Agreed on this one, but with one correction: SG can beat the Cindy/Noah comp. Usually this is because of the opponent fucking up and giving Noah more CS than Noise, causing her to taunt and die to the SGs, especially if Drake is involved. Once again, investments are necessary for this one >Cindy comp The key to remember about Cindy comps is that it has a counter: slower Cindy comps. This is because Cindy’s hits aren’t all at once, they’re 10 hits that consecutively hit. As a result, a slower Noah could block half the hits and would provide more sustained damage, since the faster cindy comp would lose their invincibility first. So basically, a 3 RL Cindy > 2 RL cindy. Hence there are multiple variations. For example, I use a 2.5 RL cindy comp with Siren to counter the 2 RL Cindys while soft countering scar-jack comps >S Maid comp Interesting, I’ve only seen this comp a few times before. So you’re actually wrong about how this team works. In reality, its actually Rei who is supposed to bhrst, as her burst is on par with Scar and is incredibly scary when properly invested. The problem is that she is unprotected aside from Jack, and will die relatively easily, hence why you see Maiden burst >S comp Mostly agree here. Soda is just basically gambling and in my shard, the more common version is the Scar-Jack version. Some additions though: if Jack is involved then the SGs lose because of the Jackal link forcing the Scar comp to be 1 RL. Otherwise, for any other 2 RL comp, the SGs will win, especially if they snake from the back and pick off the clip RLs. Also, Nero+Moran can be entirely beatable by a double buffed Scar comp (Trina+RH buff) unless if the former has a ridiculous number of cores on Nero+Moran (like Core 4 or 5 maybe) There are also 2 comps involved for those who don’t have a good Nero or Mana for the stall team: the Sanis comp (Moran/biscuit/Sanis/Maiden/Clip RL), and the SBS indom comp (SBS/blanc/rapu/pepper/laplop). The SBS comp is usually the leftovers comp, but it works as a clutch sometimes
