OP compares Komano to Tiangou the heavenly dog and it seems pretty obvious Zhao = Moon/Jade rabbit, so I've been looking up the legends related to the Mid-Autumn/Moon festival. Maybe the legends can point us to 2.3's banners?
>Main one - Hou Yi and Chang'e
Hou Yi was a legendary archer that shot down nine of the ten suns to end an everlasting drought. Hou Yi gets gifted an elixir of immortality by the gods, doesn't feel like drinking it right away takes on an apprentice named Peng Meng, Hou Yi leaves, Peng Meng tries to steal the elixir, Hou Yi's wife Chang'e drinks it so Peng Meng can't become immortal, Chang'e becomes stuck as the goddess of the moon.
There's also a few versions without Peng Meng, and Chang'e steals the immortal elixir out of greed.
Either way Hou Yi misses his wife and sends fruits and other things Chang'e eats as offerings during the 15th day of the eight month in the lunar calendar (full moon), hence the moon festival.
>Tiangou
Hou Yi had a dog, dog drank some elixir with Chang'e, follows Chang'e to the moon, becomes so big from the elixir that he swallows the moon (lunar eclipse). Queen Mother of the West (important member of the Taoist pantheon) captures Tiangou and makes him a guard of heaven. There are two depictions of Tiangou, a benevolent white fox (guardian) and a malevolent black dog/meteor (moon eating thigga).
>Moon/Jade Rabbit
Three immortals dressed as beggars test a fox, monkey, and rabbit. Fox and monkey give them food. Rabbit has nothing and so jumps into fire to become their food. Immortals turn the rabbit into an immortal for it's self-sacrifice. Moon rabbit stays with Chang'e and makes immortal elixir for the people in Heaven. In the greedy version, Chang'e gets addicted to elixir and the Moon Rabbit is her plug.
The shadows on the moon vaguely look like a rabbit at certain angles, hence moon rabbit.
>Wu Gang
Basically Sisyphus. Lazy fucker but wants to be immortal, Jade Emperor (ruler of heaven) tells him once he cuts down the tree on the moon he can become immortal, didn't tell him the tree self-regenerates, Wu Gang cuts the tree for eternity.
Explains the waxing and waning of the moon.
>Li Longji
Emperor + a Taoist priest + a Taoist master decide to go the moon, get turned away by guards, before leaving they hear fairies in the palace singing, emperor composes a song based on what he heard.
Basically backstory for the famous song
Melody of White Feathers Garment
>Diaochan
Minor, basically she's a singer and she mogs Chang'e and basically she's one of the four beauties and she's like the sexiest bitch ever.
Backstory for the painting
Diaochan Worshiping the Moon
>Zhu Yuanzhang and Moon Cake Uprising
This is actually based on a true story. Zhu got staged a revolt by hiding the message "uprise on the night of the Mid-Autumn festival" on mooncakes which he sent to his cohorts. Then mooncakes became a big thing for the festival.
Conclusion
Chang'e is IDK, Moon Rabbit is Zhao, Tiangou MIGHT be Komano, Li Longji MIGHT be Chinatsu as the legend lines up bigly with Ode to the Moonlight Knight (new support set) as well as her leaked description of being the songwriter for AoD, Diaochan = Astra, Zhu = Zhu, Wu Gang could be related to the moon being half covered in the hollow - the hollow (self-regenerating tree) always comes back.
TLDR
So Zhao is confirmed, Komano and Chinatsu are likely, there could also be a first banner agent that this whole story revolves that we haven't seen yet, she's going to kneel to Astra, Zhu will betray the Chinese government, and basically I just wasted 3 hours to explain shit we already know. FUCK. Goodnight.
