Chinese companies that aid Russia could be face U.S. repercussions, commerce secretary warns. >Gina Raimondo, the secretary of commerce, issued a stern warning Tuesday to Chinese companies that might defy U.S. restrictions against exporting to Russia, saying the United States would cut them off from American equipment and software they need to make their products. >The Biden administration could “essentially shut” down Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation or any Chinese companies that defy U.S. sanctions by continuing to supply chips and other advanced technology to Russia, Ms. Raimondo said in an interview with The New York Times. >The United States, the European Union and other governments have issued sweeping sanctions and export controls in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The export controls prohibit the sale of certain high-tech products, including advanced semiconductors, to Russia and Belarus. >The U.S. export controls apply not just to American companies, but to companies anywhere in the world that use American software or technology to manufacture their products, which include many Chinese companies. >China and Russia have strengthened their trade ties in recent years, and the Chinese government has expressed some solidarity with the Russian government despite the invasion. But China does not have the ability to make the world’s most advanced semiconductors, Ms. Raimondo said, and Chinese companies that continue to supply Russia would face harsh penalties. >Russia “is certainly going to be courting other countries to do an end run around our sanctions and export controls,” Ms. Raimondo said. But if the United States were to find that a company like the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, in Shanghai, was selling its chips to Russia, “we could essentially shut SMIC down because we prevent them from using our equipment and our software,” she said. >“They have their own self-interest to not supply this stuff to Russia. So they’re not doing it out of the goodness of their heart. It would be devastating to China’s ability to produce these chips,” Ms. Raimondo added. >The new export controls, which were issued in coordination with the European Union, Australia, Japan, South Korea and other allies, are designed to stem the flow of advanced technologies to Russia to degrade the Russian military and certain strategic sectors that help President Vladimir V. Putin maintain control of Russia. The United States took similar action against the Chinese telecom firm Huawei in 2020, cutting it off from global supplies of chips and other electronics made with U.S. technology. The measure ended up crippling Huawei’s successful mobile and broadband businesses. https://archive.ph/Mi3rq

Sage for off topic and blog post, feel free to ignore. The latest cinematic for WoW was released a couple of hours ago and it turned out the Jailer actually was a good guy and all the talk about the culmination of 20+ years of lore actually meant nothing. My interest in the Warcraft lore started in WC3 and began to die off during Cataclysm and I stopped play retail for good at the end of Legion, but at least it felt like the story was complete in a way after defeating the Burning Legion at Argus. But now when they themselves have pretty much retconned all of their own lore from WC3 to this current patch and thrown it into the trash just to leave on a cliffhanger for the next expansion. I thought I had given up on the WoW's lore years ago as it just kept getting worse and worse, but now when they retroactively redefine their lore from 15-20 years ago to try justify their current shitty expansion, I feel violated for once being passionate and it. It's incredible that Blizz somehow can make something even worse when at this point you don't think it is even possible.
>>150946 >Chinese companies that aid Russia could be face U.S. repercussions, commerce secretary warns. Do really think it’s wise to piss one of the few people who out jewed America jewish owners?
>>150949 They're not really in a position to challenge at this point though. China's economy is way too heavily tied to western economies at this stage as much as we are reliant on them. If every single country were to stop importing from China it would fuck them far harder than it would fuck us.
>>150948 Not really off-topic since it's vidya related
>>150948 i wonder if their new audience, chinese people, even cares about their stupid game or if they were only playing the stupid game in the first place to sell gold?
>>150948 This was pretty much inevitable in any mmo. You have to constantly justify killing the biggest bad guy ever to get his shiny shit but then you have to do it again and again.
>>150948 >Giving a shit about Blizzard >Giving a shit about Blizzshit lore Nothing ever mattered, had any consistency and everything was cartoonishly silly. I will never understand all the Cocksucking Blizzard gets in my lifetime.
>>150948 The endless rewriting of past stories modern AAA devs engage in infuriates me to no end and the fact they're unable to construct or add something without destroying what was already there is evidence enough they're immediate failures compared to their predecessors. Also yeah Cataclysm was the last time I cared about anything WoW related because it's just been an endless trash fire since then.
Battlefield 2042’s new patch finally adds a scoreboard but still no voice chat >Four months after its launch, Battlefield 2042 is finally getting a real scoreboard on Tuesday. The scoreboard comes as part of an update that also fixes a couple of bugs and introduces a new cosmetic bundle, but doesn’t add voice chat. >Battlefield 2042’s new scoreboard isn’t too flashy; it’s just a big list of players and their stats, with the scores of the top 20 people on either team displayed. It also has carve-out sections if you or your squad mates happen to fall somewhere lower than 20. >To the left of the scoreboard is the Match Overview screen, which remains similar to the one that’s currently in the game and shows the overall match score, your K/D/A, and a collection of Ribbons you can earn. >The patch also introduces a few fixes for crashing problems on both the Origin and Xbox One versions of the game when using an Xbox One controller, as well as some bugs around Conquest and Hazard Zone. >Voice chat, the other conspicuously absent feature from Battlefield 2042’s launch, is also mentioned in this new patch’s notes. DICE says that the feature is not included in this new update, but is set to be part of the next update, which should happen in early April. >Unfortunately, all of this is coming a little late. Aside from the fact that these updates are arriving half a year after the game was released, it seems that many players have moved on. In fact, many have moved back to previous Battlefield games. On Steam, Battlefield 2042 currently has fewer peak players a day than Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield 5, according to SteamDB. https://archive.ph/onKpl Battlefield 2042 is saved! Ubisoft, Take-Two Are the Latest Game Makers to Halt Sales in Russia >The game makers behind Assassin's Creed and Grand Theft Auto, respectively, this week revealed plans to curb access to their titles in Russia in response to the invasion of Ukraine. >Ubisoft and Take-Two are the latest game publishers to halt business in Russia. The game makers behind Assassin's Creed and Grand Theft Auto, respectively, this week revealed plans to curb access to their titles over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. >In light of the ongoing tragedy in Ukraine, we have decided to suspend our sales in Russia," Ubisoft said in a statement. >The declaration comes days after Ubisoft announced a €1 million ($1.1 million) fund dedicated to supporting Ukrainian colleagues, as well as donations to local aid efforts. "We stand by our teams in Ukraine and will continue to adapt and reinforce our support as the situation evolves." >Take-Two Interactive is also terminating sales of its games and marketing support in Russia and Belarus, where people are also prevented from installing titles like Grand Theft Auto V—believed to be the third most-popular game in Russia behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. >We have watched recent events unfold in Ukraine with concern and sadness," Take-Two VP of corporate communications and public affairs, Alan Lewis, told GamesIndustry.biz. "After significant consideration," he continued, "we decided to stop new sales, installations, and marketing support across all our labels in Russia and Belarus at this time." >Activision Blizzard and Epic Games last week halted new sales of titles in Russia, stopping folks from making in-game purchases, but not from playing games they already own. "We're not blocking access for the same reason other communication tools remain online: the free world should keep all lines of dialogue open," Epic Games tweeted. >Microsoft, meanwhile, ceased "all new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia," including Xbox consoles, branded games, and the Xbox Cloud Gaming service, as well as other company wares. >Electronic Arts and CD Projekt RED made similar commitments, leaving many of the world's most popular games—from Call of Duty and Battlefield to Fortnite and Cyberpunk 2077—unavailable for purchase in Russia. https://archive.ph/sZBj6 Say what you want about Jack Thomson. >>150948 Don't know what you expected. Blizzard lore has been downhill since they retconned the Draenei's origins in Burning Crusade. The dumb part about that was it made the world less interesting. Retcons can be okay if they aren't too contradictory and they add depth, but Blizzard retcons tend to be the opposite, and are more for convenience of the immediate needs of the plot at cost to all else. Cataclysm is definitely where it went off a cliff, though. This was the point they ran out of WC3 storylines to use, so they started grasping for straws with WC2. Making Panderan a non-easter egg was a huge mistake and I can't believe they were desperate enough to go there the moment they ran out of old lore to mine. Nevermind that all the great plot threads from WC3 basically terminated with "bad guy gets killed by 10, 25, or 40 nameless heroes", so good luck if you did want to make a WC4 ever. I quit about a month into Cataclysm. Watching from the sidelines, it's a shame that the Battle for Azeroth thing didn't pan out. It looked like what I'd wanted from the game from the start. But apparently it blew chunks. Defeating the Burning Legion is definitely the logical endpoint to pretty much the entire series. They'll never have a better idea because they've used all their old lore repeatedly and defeated all the big bads. And really, what force in the universe can stop you? The irony is watching FF14 do the same thing and handle it a million times better. I think story in MMOs is incredibly lame but if you're going to embrace the theme park and try to tell one then you can at least try not to shoot yourself in the foot. This is what Blizzard gets for lazy writing and focusing only on what's in front of themselves. They could have mapped out a 4-5 expansion arc back when they started work on Burning Crusade and probably wrapped up a lot of storylines with satisfying conclusions. It's actually sad to think that all the best characters are dead. So is Blizzard, so it doesn't matter, but there's no way they could make a WC4 now unless they retcon WoW entirely. But hey, it's Blizzard, why not just retcon their biggest game? Most of it already has been, and it'd be better for the franchise in the long run to treat it like one long emerald nightmare.

They could have used the seedy-ass NPC from the start of the xpac to pull some bullshit reality-shattering plot twist at the end of the fight that was only possible due to the help of the player characters, resulting in either a discontinuation of the timeline and a soft reset of sorts, or, if Blizz really wanted to go above and beyond, create a "Reality fractured into infinite timelines" plot point to open up the path to official player-customized servers. Saudi, Emirati Leaders Decline Calls With Biden During Ukraine Crisis >The White House unsuccessfully tried to arrange calls between President Biden and the de facto leaders of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates as the U.S. was working to build international support for Ukraine and contain a surge in oil prices, said Middle East and U.S. officials. >Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the U.A.E.’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al Nahyan both declined U.S. requests to speak to Mr. Biden in recent weeks, the officials said, as Saudi and Emirati officials have become more vocal in recent weeks in their criticism of American policy in the Gulf. >There was some expectation of a phone call, but it didn’t happen,” said a U.S. official of the planned discussion between the Saudi Prince Mohammed and Mr. Biden. “It was part of turning on the spigot [of Saudi oil].” >Mr. Biden did speak with Prince Mohammed’s 86-year-old father, King Salman, on Feb. 9, when the two men reiterated their countries’ longstanding partnership. >The U.A.E.’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the call between Mr. Biden and Sheikh Mohammed would be rescheduled. >The Saudis have signaled that their relationship with Washington has deteriorated under the Biden administration, and they want more support for their intervention in Yemen’s civil war, help with their own civilian nuclear program as Iran’s moves ahead, and legal immunity for Prince Mohammed in the U.S., Saudi officials said. The crown prince faces multiple lawsuits in the U.S., including over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. >The Emiratis share Saudi concerns about the restrained U.S. response to recent missile strikes by Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen against the U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia, officials said. Both governments are also concerned about the revival of the Iran nuclear deal, which doesn’t address other security concerns of theirs and has entered the final stages of negotiations in recent weeks. >The White House has worked to repair relations with two key Middle Eastern countries it needs on its side as oil prices push over $130 a barrel for the first time in almost 14 years. Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. are the only two major oil producers that can pump millions of more barrels of more oil—a capacity that, if used, could help calm the crude market at a time when American gasoline prices are at high levels. >Brett McGurk, the National Security Council’s Middle East coordinator, and Amos Hochstein, the State Department’s energy envoy, both traveled to Riyadh late last month to try to mend fences with Saudi officials. Mr. McGurk also met with Sheikh Mohammed in Abu Dhabi in a bid to address Emirati frustrations over the U.S. response to the Houthi attacks. >The call with Sheikh Mohammed in early February was expected to focus on ways the two countries could counter Houthi attacks from Yemen. >One U.S. official said the Biden administration has worked diligently to strengthen Saudi and Emirati missile defenses, and that America would be doing more in the coming months to help the two Gulf nations protect themselves. It may not be all the two countries want, the official said, but the U.S. is trying to address their security concerns. >But the Saudis and Emiratis have declined to pump more oil, saying they are sticking to a production plan approved between their group, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, and a group of other producers led by Russia. >The energy alliance with Russia, one of the world’s top oil producers, has enhanced OPEC’s power while also bringing the Saudis and Emiratis closer to Moscow. >Both Prince Mohammed and Sheikh Mohammed took phone calls from Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, after declining to speak with Mr. Biden. They both later spoke with Ukraine’s president, and a Saudi official said the U.S. had requested that Prince Mohammed mediate in the conflict, which he said the kingdom is embarking on. >The rift between Mr. Biden and Saudi Arabia’s crown prince stretches back to the 2020 presidential election, when the Democratic candidate vowed to treat the kingdom as a “pariah” state after a Saudi hit team killed Mr. Khashoggi in 2018 in Istanbul. >There is “very little social redeeming value in the present government in Saudi Arabia,” Mr. Biden said during a presidential debate in 2019. >After taking office, Mr. Biden released a U.S. intelligence report that concluded that Prince Mohammed had approved the plan to capture or kill Mr. Khashoggi, who had been an outspoken critic of the young Saudi ruler. >Prince Mohammed has denied knowing anything about the plot, even though people close to the crown prince were convicted by a Saudi court of taking part in murdering the journalist. >Mr. Biden also publicly castigated Saudi Arabia over its protracted war in Yemen and cut off the flow of some weapons Riyadh could use to target Houthis. The president also reversed a move by his predecessor that put the Houthis on America’s official list of global terrorist groups, a move that Saudi leaders said had emboldened the Yemeni force and thwarted efforts to broker a cease-fire. >On Monday, Ms. Psaki said the president stood by his view that Saudi Arabia should be treated like a “pariah” state and that the leadership had little redeeming social value. >When asked in an interview with the Atlantic magazine released last week if Mr. Biden misunderstood the Saudi leader, Prince Mohammed responded: “Simply, I do not care.” >Prince Mohammed said alienating the Saudi leaders would hurt the U.S. president. “It’s up to him to think about the interests of America,” he said. “Go for it.” >One U.S. official acknowledged that Prince Mohammed is the key Saudi decision maker, and that the Biden administration will have to find ways to work with the crown prince on everything from energy policy to normalizing relations with Israel. >Along with Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E. has urged the U.S. to put the Houthis on its list of terrorist groups and to send more military aid to help defend the country from more attacks. But the U.S. hasn’t moved to address those Emirati concerns, according to Gulf officials. >Last month, Gen. Frank McKenzie, the head of U.S. Central Command, flew to Abu Dhabi for a series of meetings with Emirati leaders to discuss ways to beef up security in the wake of the Houthi missile strikes. Gen. McKenzie wanted to meet with Sheikh Mohammed, but was unable to get time with the Emirati leader, according to a Middle East official. >Last week, Yousef Al Otaiba, the U.A.E. ambassador to the U.S., said that relations between the two countries were strained. >It is like any relationship,” he said in Abu Dhabi. “It has strong days where the relationship is very healthy and days where the relationship is under question. Today, we’re going through a stress test, but I am confident that we will get out of it and get to a better place.” https://archive.ph/yuWmd Kek Saudi Arabia and UAE are now openly snubbing Biden and the European Union at a whole.

Biden announces $2.6B request to promote gender equity on International Women's Day >President Biden on Tuesday announced he will ask Congress for "$2.6 billion for foreign aid programs that promote gender equity worldwide, more than double the size of last year's request," The Associated Press reports. >News of the president's planned request conveniently arrived on International Women's Day, "which is set aside to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women around the world." >Last International Women's Day, Biden created the inaugural White House Gender Policy Council to help with gender equity across the administration, per AP. >Every person deserves the chance to live up to their full God-given potential, without regard for gender or other factors," Biden wrote in a statement. >Improving the status of women and girls strengthens economies, democracies, and societies across the board. That's why I made gender equity a cornerstone of my Administration by creating the White House Gender Policy Council shortly after taking office a year ago." >And it's why I'm proud that my FY 2023 Budget will request $2.6 billion for foreign assistance programs that promote gender equality worldwide, more than doubling the amount requested for gender programs last year," he continued. >First lady Jill Biden also paid tribute to International Women's Day with a statement and video of her own, honoring the honor "women throughout the world who courageously use their voice, no matter the cost" — including "our sisters from Ukraine who are fighting to keep their country free," and "our sisters in Russia who are protesting and speaking out against the invasion at great personal risk," she said. https://archive.ph/FIZRj Russia is Ready To Replace France in west Africa >Finally, France will be leaving Mali, nearly a decade after the original military intervention in 2013. The repercussions of this decision will hardly be confined to this West African nation, but will likely spread to the entirety of the Sahel Region; in fact, the whole of Africa. >France’s decision to end its military presence in Mali – carried out in two major military operations, Operation Serval and Operation Barkhane – was communicated by French President, Emmanuel Macron. “Victory against terror is not possible if it’s not supported by the state itself,” Macron said on February 16. >The French President called the Malian leadership “out of control” and rationalized his decision as a necessary move, since “European, French and international forces are seeing measures that are restricting them.” >Given the situation, given the rupture in the political and military frameworks, we cannot continue like this,” Macron added. >Macron is not fooling anyone. The French military intervention in Mali was justified at the time as part of France’s efforts to defeat ‘Jihadists’ and ‘terrorists’, who had taken over much of the country’s northern region. Indeed, northern militants, protesting what they have described as government negligence and marginalization, had then seized major cities, including Kidal and Timbuktu. But the story, as is often the case with France’s former African colonies, was more complex. >In a recent article, the New York Times said that France’s “diplomatic power” is predicated on three pillars: “its influence in its former African colonies, along with its nuclear arms and its permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.” >Mali is one of these ‘former French colonies’, largely located in what used to be called ‘French West Africa.’ Once a great kingdom, known as the Mandinka Empire, Mali was colonized by France in 1892. It was then renamed French Sudan. Though it gained its independence in 1958, Mali remained a French vassal state. >To appreciate French influence over Mali and other West African states long after their independence, consider that fourteen African countries, including Niger and Senegal, continue to use the West African CFA franc, a French monetary invention in 1945, which ensured the struggling African economies continued to be tied to the French currency. >This has allowed Paris to wield tremendous influence over various African economies, whose resources were provided to their former colonizers at competitive prices. >Unsurprisingly, France took the leadership in ‘liberating’ Mali in 2013. Hence, France was able to reconfigure the region’s militaries and politics to remain under the direct control of France, which presented itself as West Africa’s savior in the face of terrorism. >Chad, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Togo, all participated in the French-led operation, which also involved the United Nations and several Western powers. >The arrival of French soldiers to the Sahel region was meant to underscore the importance, if not indispensability, of France to Africa’s security, especially at a time that Africa was, once again, a contested space that attracted the continent’s old colonial powers and new political players, as well: Russia, China, Germany, Turkey, among others. >However, for the people of Mali, the intervention merely prolonged their misery. “Operation Serval”, meant to last a few weeks, carried on for years, amid political strife in Bamako, worsening security throughout the country, rising corruption and deepening poverty. >Though initially welcomed, at least publicly by some in the south of the country, the French military quickly became a burden, associated with Mali’s corrupt politicians, who happily leased the country’s resources in exchange for French support. >The honeymoon is now over. On January 31, the Malian government ordered the French Ambassador to leave the country. >Though Macron pledged that his military withdrawal will be phased out based on France’s own outline, the Malian leadership, on February 17, demanded an immediate and unconditional French withdrawal. >Paris continues to insist that its Mali decision is not a defeat, and that it cannot be compared to the US chaotic retreat from Afghanistan last August, all indications point that France is, indeed, being expunged from one of its most prized ‘spheres of influence’. >Considering that a similar scenario is currently underway in the Central African Republic (C.A.R.), France’s geopolitical concessions in Africa can aptly be described as unprecedented. >While Western countries, along with a few African governments, are warning that the security vacuum created by the French withdrawal will be exploited by Mali’s militants, Bamako claims such concerns are unfounded, arguing that the French military presence has exasperated – as opposed to improving – the country’s insecurity. >The particular parallel between Mali and C.A.R. becomes even more interesting when we consider media and official reports suggesting that the two African nations are substituting French with Russian soldiers, further accentuating the rapid geopolitical shift in the continent. >Though Macron continues to argue that the shift is induced mostly by his country’s own strategic priorities, neither evidence on the ground, nor France’s own media seem to believe such claims. >It is an inglorious end to an armed intervention that began in euphoria and which ends, nine years later, against a backdrop of crisis,” wrote Le Monde on February 17. >The truth is that an earth-shattering development is under way in Mali and the whole of West Africa, ushering in, as argued in the NY Times, the “closing chapters of ‘la Françafrique’,” the centuries-long French dominance over its ‘sphere of influence’ in the resource-rich Africa. >Though ‘la Françafrique’ is possibly coming to an end, the geopolitical tussle in Africa is merely heating up. While some powers will benefit and others will lose, the West African populations are unlikely to reap many benefits from the ‘scramble’ over the region’s resources. https://archive.ph/VcFKZ
>>151023 >but the real problem will be communication if the power grid goes down. What about finding lanterns and flashlights, and using those for signals. Or even resorting the good old Pony Express? Man Who Used COVID Loan to Buy Pokemon Card Sentenced to Prison >A Georgia man will be heading to prison for spending money from a COVID relief loan on a Charizard card. This week, the Department of Justice announced that Vinath Oudomsine will be sent to prison for three years after pleading guilty to a single charge of Wire Fraud. >Oudomsine applied to the Small Business Administration for an Economic Injury Disaster Loan back in July 2020 and received $85,000 to use on an "entertainment" business he claimed he owned. >Oudomsine lied to the government about owning the business and then used a portion of the money to purchase a 1st Edition Shadowless Base Set Charizard card for $57,789. >As part of his plea agreement, Oudomsine will have to repay the full $85,000 plus $10,000 in additional restitution. He'll also have to turn over the Charizard card to the federal government. Oudomsine will also have to serve three years of supervised release once his prison sentence is over. >COVID-19 disaster relief loans are issued by the government to help businesses struggling to survive during a pandemic, not to use for trivial collectible items," said Philip Wislar, Acting Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, in a press release announcing the sentencing. >This sentence highlights the FBI's commitment to aggressively pursue anyone who would abuse taxpayer dollars and divert them from citizens who desperately need them." >While the FBI might consider a Charizard card to be a "trivial collectible item," they've become the face of an increasingly hot vintage Pokemon market. >Graded Pokemon cards are selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars, driven by celebrities and investors who believe that the market will just get hotter. Recently, a Pikachu Illustrator card sold for nearly $1 million, setting a new record for most expensive Pokemon card. >It's unclear what the federal government will do with the Charizard card. However, it's possible that it will be put up for auction, giving collectors a chance to purchase the now infamous card. https://archive.ph/zpuQX Elden Ring director feels "apologetic toward anyone" who finds FromSoftware games too hard >Elden Ring has revived the familiar talking points around FromSoftware games: are they too hard? Should they have an easy mode? >Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of all of these games, spoke about the subject in a new interview with Simon Parkin in the New Yorker. "We are always looking to improve, but, in our games specifically, hardship is what gives meaning to the experience," he says. >So it’s not something we’re willing to abandon at the moment. It’s our identity." I’ve never been a very skilled player," Miyazaki says. >I die a lot. So, in my work, I want to answer the question: If death is to be more than a mark of failure, how do I give it meaning? How do I make death enjoyable?" >I do feel apologetic toward anyone who feels there’s just too much to overcome in my games. I just want as many players as possible to experience the joy that comes from overcoming hardship." >Miyazaki resists attempts to link his games' difficulty to experiences in his life or career. "I wouldn’t say that my life story, to put it in grandiose terms, has affected the way I make games," he says. >A more accurate way to look at it is problem solving. We all face problems in our daily lives. Finding answers is always a satisfying thing. But in life, you know, there’s not a lot that gives us those feelings readily." >While Miyazaki is not willing to remove the hardship from his work, Ed did find his latest "the most encouraging Souls yet" in his Elden Ring review. He cites the ability to summon ghostly animals to your side, among other things. >That's the thing about Elden Ring, its open world has your back, in its own - often painful - way." (We've got your back to with our Elden Ring guides.) >Miyazaki makes no such admission to The New Yorker, but the whole article is worth reading for a rare insight into his motivations and managerial style. https://archive.ph/D1lLI

Dude just wanted to be near her kween and simp her from the outside, or did people already forgot how he altered the Garrosh speech from Cataclysm so he doesn't call her a "bitch" anymore? So yeah, that Nathanos was a self instert and canon love interest of da kween but if you wanna see a REAL faggot self inserting you should look at Overwatch, where Michael Chu (I guess is a chinese mutt) selfinserted himself as GENJI to the point of not only making him the second mascot along Tracer (or even above her) but he simped so hard for the Mercy character that he made her care more about Genji than anyone else, erased completely her dubious past making her a dindu nuffin and the perfect woman in the entire universe where everyone loves her unconditionally and then in real life he MARRIED A CLONE OF THE FUCKING CHARACTER. There's other self inserts in the OW team but that was so blatant that i wouldn't be surprised if every single Blizzard game hadn't self inserts out of their asses.

>>151289 >how come you ended up with such shit dubbing industry? Anime was never taken seriously from the start here in the West since we started with shit like Pokemon. That means all shows fell under the umbrella of "kid-friendly" so the soccer moms of TV got it censored early, which gave us shit like 4kids. Sure, that resulted in there being a market for serious dubs, but it also made expectations so rock-bottom Funimation rocketed to the top just by being less overt in how they changed shit and keeping a serious tone. Once they cemented themselves, it was just a matter of using their clout as the "de-facto" dubbing outfit of the West. Couple that with the paradigm shift to hard-leftism from 2010-onward, the fact Voice Directors for both vidya/anime are either boomers who don't want to hire anyone who doesn't already have a career behind them or voice actors themselves who hire their buddies in a "scratch my back I scratch yours" style, as well as the general apathy of the Japs who give over their works to be dubbed since "not in my backyard", and you get a cocktail of shit. >>151290 Like I said mate, I've been using Waterfox with the instructions from the pic I posted (again, an old version of the download before they put a killswitch) and it'd been working like a charm. I honestly haven't used Waterfox (dropped it for Librewolf some time after it was sold to an ad company and the "classic" edition stopped supporting some sites I use) or flash files, so I don't know of any further fuckery Adobe and other companies have done in recent months. Check the version of the plug-in installed, it could be that something updated it to the dummy final version. Another thing you can do is to fully remove the plugin and install the one available at https://archive.org/details/flashplayer_old, then try it with a different browser like Pale Moon or SeaMonkey. I make a backup of my old .cfg file before upgrading the browser, then I replace the new .cfg file with my old one. If something in the layout changed (usually indicated with the version number at the beginning of the file) I edit the settings again (fairly easy since I only enable DRM and saving passwords) and backup the new file.

There was some radeon gpu half a decade ago with 16gb of vram, back when nvidia had maybe 12gb on their highest end gtx gpus. If you were using it for artificial intelligence on video and image work, the amd gpu would beat the nvidia one outright, but for every other workload it would be way worse and cost more.
>>151366 You can start fiddling with another OS with a virtual machine. If you have a spare drive and feel more adventurous, start dual booting. You gotta start somewhere, even if it's small.
>>151386 Yeah, we'll have to see. I work for a graphics processing firm and it seems it's geared more toward us than toward pure gaming, but the last few chips haven't been downright bad for it, so I can't see 128 gigs of 800 GB/s RAM or a 64 core GPU being bad for them.
>>151388 In that case yeah, code optimized for arm chips can and will consume less power than code optimized for x86. It depends purely on the workload, if I start using x86 emulation in arm to run some windows game on linux, I expect performance to tank significantly, since each x86 instruction is maybe 4 arm instructions. I'm sure macOS-specific programs will run better than crap ports, but it's just a guess.

Not to mention it will slow itself down from normal use over the course of a year or two. Linux might go sideways from "normal" stuff more often than Windows, but it's infinitely more recoverable than Windows, and doesn't need a fresh install nearly as often. If you grew up with Linux and knew how to work it as well as Windows, you'd have no problem diagnosing and repairing something extreme. It's spooky to newbies. Every year, Linux gets more stable and predictable, even with the infinite options it has available. And every year, Windows tries some new gimmick and dumps a new block of broken crap on top of the last pile. And that's without mentioning the freedom. Oh, and it was probably nVidia's fault anyways. Sometimes it's infinitely easier and less headache than Windows, sometimes it's the completely opposite. People need to stop speaking in absolutes about Linux because it's unbelievably dependent on the context. By making Linux sound like it's brain dead simple you setup people for failure when they run into common issues that are difficult to solve. It doesn't matter if it's nvidia's fault. Nvidia makes up the overwhelming majority of the market share and therefore those issues are what most people will run into. Consumers, and even anon's don't give a fuck who is to blame. They care if their computers are working or not. Linux is getting better at an ever rapidly increasing pace. There's no reason to hype it up and give people retarded false impressions of what their experience with it will be. People should want to use Linux because they value privacy and autonomy. Not because they're told it will 100% mimic their windows experience out of the box with zero issues, because it won't.

I'm not sure a VPN will get past it, I believe a few posts elsewhere detail it in depth as being more complex than even China's firewall was, which can be easily bypassed by a VPN and most Chinese citizens do, but the intranet doesn't allow access to non Russian hosted sites or something.

If you had the power of legalizing (insert whatever you think is unjustly criminalized here) it would take a few months to a year for people to succeed in making it illegal again. Does anyone have the video of the Ukrainian "body bags" with the "dead" guy trying to get his to fit while a reporter filmed and there were photogs in the background?

>>151451 >>151584 While I disagree with Russia's blatant imperialism for going behind the cities of Donbass and Crimea island this is just censorship in the end and most certainly won't end with Russia, no they'll find ever increasing excuses to censor more things. I'm just gonna rely more on SearX from now on. Please tell me SearX isn't also joining the Russia hate wagon. Also all this condemnation of Russia but no one ever talks about Saudi Arabia bombing Yemeni civilians for years now, the absolute cluster fuck Libya has become with warlords and open slave markets everywhere, or about China's persecution of East Turkestan, Tibet, and Inner Mongolia.
>>151592 >Please tell me SearX isn't also joining the Russia hate wagon. THEY USE GOOLAG, BING, AND YAHOO FOR THEIR RESULTS. IF ONE OF THOSE IS CENSORED, IT EFFECTS SEARX AS WELL. How is this so hard to understand?
Or Israel's annexation of the Golan Heights for that matter.

Nigger they'll change view counts, likes, dislikes, comments, audio, and fabricated whatever date they fucking want on it. All these people and organizations go around independently covering each others asses when one of them fucks up because they're all on the same team with the same goal, your death. >>151610 in the case of that particular video, it's pretty obvious that it was a protest. if they were faking actual war fatalities they would not let footage of one of their actors moving around in a body bag onto the internet in the first place. they are stupid sometimes, but nowhere near that stupid.
