>>192931 I bet the Dark Signers did this! Apparently, Carly's S1 seiyuu, Li-Mei Chiang, in Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds was involved in a psychic cult called the Roma Sophie Association, so they replaced her, sidelined her character and finally rewrote parts of the Dark Signer Arc

>>192937 seriously you're so lazy you wont even look it up yourself? you could have just searched for it. >>192939 >>192940 Dont spoonfeed the retard.
>>192934 Wasn't it later proven that it was a hoax. >>637895 Funnier part is when MTG failed to attract a note ethnically diverse demographic compared to Yu-Gi-Oh! which was the norm for it for decades in America
>>192934 >3rd pic I wonder where all of you niggers are now? We had some fun times in the chat. >>192942 Yu-gi-oh was so popular in america (like pokemon and dragon ball) that evangelist tried to ban it.
Can some anon spoonfeed me on Why the George Guidestones were blown up, and what exactly are your takes on it? >>637915 The Boondocks is such an underappreciated gem The comic strip is literal cringe though >>192933 Yes the country was collapsing earlier this year due to infighting between Mudslimes and Christians, then they made peace to overthrow the government since they were lacking basic infrastructure and now it's just the inevitable.
>>637849 We have a mountain of dead legacy boards. What about 'em?
>>192943 The /vhs/ and /bmn/ movie night streams, Jackbox game nights, and formerly the Monster girl Federation Wrestling but moved to a different cytube channel. I'll post the name of the latter when I get back.
>>192944 >Can some anon spoonfeed me on Why the George Guidestones were blown up, and what exactly are your takes on it? Why specifically? Dont know, but i bet it was some random qultist or /k/schizo trying to stick it to them, since as funny as it is, its just vanadalism of some irrelevant stones. >>192945 I just posted in it, come talk about berserk with me, anon. >>192946 >monster girl wrestling I remember that autism and im not sure i wanna go watch that.
>>192933 Polymatter did a short video about 2 months ago on this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5zxYDHwf-Y
>>192948 That poor island hasnt caught a break since teh tsunami.
>>192949 Summary is basically the coof forced them to lockdown their country, killed tourism which is 22% of GDP, they banned fertilizer decreasing crop yields. And the devaluing of their currency due to not having a trade surplus had a run on banks, devaluing the currency further.
>>192930 >Kazuki Takahashi is dead Well shit. This is not what I wanted to wake up to
>>192950 You forgot them taking loans from China, then taking another loan to pay back the previous loan.

>>192947 lescatieentertainment is the name of that cytube channel where some of the rest are. Then the only other places I can think of are the Uncommon Time streams and twitter (for drawfags like Toosie/Soulja-tan/his demon comics) and Twitch (Umbrant has an account there and a pixiv page) I haven't kept up with the /icup/ games status, I think people are trying to set that up this Sumer but I'm not sure. So, it's important the demolish of those stones? >>192937 Education at it's finest
>>192955 Not really, but it's still hilarious. If that would be the Cube in Mecca or the rest of ((Crying)) Wall in Jerusalem, then yes.

So why were the stones put down? Seems to be full of kike writing.
>>192969 Because someone used high explosives to blow them up.
>>192933 it was only a few days ago the government publicly admitted they only have 1(ONE) days worth of fuel its not even a meme anymore the world is literally run by fucking clowns, just close your eyes and the problem doesnt exist, time to fucking guillotine every one of these fucking clowns

>>192951 https://archive.fo/kP0dd >Takahashi, whose real name is Kazuo Takahashi, was found floating while wearing snorkeling gear in the waters off Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, on Wednesday morning >Authorities said there were injuries to the belly and lower parts of the body that were apparently made by bites from a shark or other sea creatures He was killed. >In 2011, Yu-Gi-Oh! was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's best-selling trading card game after selling more than 25.17 billion sets around the world Wizards of The Coast hired someone to kill him. They are pissed because their pozzed Magi c The Gathering isn't selling anymore, and Yugioh outsold it, with it's hot lewd girls and anti-SJW themes.
>>192951 https://archive.ph/Zh3ba >Yu-Gi-Oh Manga Creator Kazuki Takahashi Passes Away at 60 I bet KONAMI did this
>>192977 I bet it was Wizards of The Coast .
>>192976 Why'd they wait this long to kill him though? Yu-gi-oh's always been more popular & recognized than MTG.
>>192979 They needed to infiltrate Japan first.

>>192975 It doesnt work on my end.
(339.96 KB 509x381 Thinking 25.png)

>>192976 Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that this is murder.
>>192972 oh, Frittata
>>192982 Because it is. Japanese authorities are too pussified and whipped by their Yakuza overlords to investigate murder cases so they usually falsely categorize it as suicide or accidental.
>>192984 You're full of shit, anon. Yakuza aren't even in power anymore. Haven't been for years. It's why they harass farmers of all people by stealing their food grains.
>>192969 One stone was fully destroyed while a few of them were still fine, but they bulldozed them all anyway. I wonder why they didn't keep the intact ones and try to restore them. I'm guessing that despite the text on the stones the author still had the wrong politics so it was an antifa attack on yet another old monument. And we've all seen how well-funded commie groups like antifa can get away with anything while the authorities openly aid them so maybe the intent was to fully destroy the stones but since they failed the authorities were ordered to finish the demolition while giving a bullshit excuse for it.
>>192985 YOU'RE full of shit anon. I just saw a 50 year old yakuza take on like a hundred dudes in a shipyard fistfight and he came out unscathed.
>>192985 Anon they literally run drug trade, the porn industry and human traficking, youre using a " we are totally poor an honorabru gaijin" blogpost as a fact when they have been knows to switch from thugs to goverment backhands for decades.
>>192987 Was his silver suit immaculate? >>192988 Wow no shit criminals exist. Doesn't mean they're the secret shadow government of Japan in control of everything.
If Casca's rape wasn't mean to be pornographic, why did I masturbate to it?
>>192933 >Wealthy (((people))) are being killed by the locals. Always a good thing. Kill more. And kill the authorities that protect them too.
>>192989 > Doesn't mean they're the secret shadow government of Japan in control of everything. Not teh shadow goverment, but they are certanly a lobby and a tool politicians and companies use, the japanese police is as corrupt as any other, they just dont usually affect the average citizen. >>192990 I couldnt, farnese humping the dragon slayer on the other hand did do it for me.

>>192933 As it always has been, so it is. The (((rich))) always fuck up the country and they always get revolted against. Sri Lanka can happen to any country at any time. First world countries just have a buffer and less time before it happens. It's likely that some rich from Sri Lanka will escape, it's important to keep an eye on those that do. Because these people will transfer to other countries and repeat the process anew. Let Sri Lanka burn, but if anyone's seeing this, note that if the Sri Lanka rich escape to your country, you know what to do. They'll try to grab positions of power in your country, and the corruption of your officials will allow it. They'll try to move weight behind the scenes, so even if they have no official power they will have shadow state power. Do not let them in, do not let them take your country too.
>>193027 >First world countries just have a buffer and less time before it happens. You mean more time?

>>192934 >>192942 I'm thinking there's a big hoax culture in Japan because I saw it with Tanimura's actor in Yakuza, he was accused of cocaine possession but was later deemed innocent. It brings to mind police/mafia tactics employed on people when they dispute contract. Tanimura's actor got booted for absolutely no reason and if he was innocent that means he WASN'T a drug user and couldn't have had any drugs on him. So the fact that people can get booted by accusation and even arrested for it in Japan (which he was arrested for, it was on public news media), means that it was a Yakuza ploy involving payoff of police. I've heard that police in Japan are especially incompetent and corrupt, even today.
>>193014 Maybe one of these might do the trick.
>>638097 The buffer makes it last longer though, otherwise it's not a buffer. Saying there's a buffer and less time is contradictory.

>>193028 I did mis-speak there, but on that note "revolutions" that happen in first world countries are usually non-violent because they're backed up by resources and guns in America's case. Because of these resources the people have more freedom and the police fuck with them less. People get replaced more easily. The deep state still exists, but the conflicts go on in the background. I can guarantee you that living as a politician in the first world is a "physically dangerous" job. While politicians in 3rd world countries are effectively invincible until meme rope day. Violent revolutions happen in 3rd world countries because there are no other choices. Sri Lanka must eat the rich because they have been deprived of ways to eliminate corruption outside of great violence and brutality.
>>193029 >I'm thinking there's a big hoax culture in Japan because I saw it with Tanimura's actor in Yakuza, he was accused of cocaine possession but was later deemed innocent. No anon, it's everywhere else that has hoax culture. In Japan, the prosecution's conviction rate is incredibly high because prosecutors only take cases where they are absolutely sure they can win. If someone is falsely accused and found innocent, the prosecutor fucked up big time. It's very rare.

>>193098 >3DCG Straight to the trash
>>193096 Here's another one they "debunked" (lied about). The law originally said 16 years old, and RBG authored a proposal to lower it to 12 years old. The usual suspects tried to distract us with the gender neutral aspect of the proposal, but the lowering of age of consent *is* still slipped in there. Even /pol/ and Voat fell for this distraction and said it was fake news, I had to do the research myself on this one. I will never forget this.
>>193098 >3DCG Why are anime studios going this route now? Even Ghibli used 3D with Earwing and the Witch. At least the 3D is improving, but I still prefer 2D.
>>193101 Because it's cheaper than traditional animation, specially for scenes with a lot of movement.

>>193097 >Price-gouging is robbery. Don't pretend it isn't, (((jew))) Pic is from Websters dictionary circa 1828. Jews didn't subvert our culture until the 1900s. Therefore the true White man's definition of robbery is "the forcible and felonious taking from the person of another any money or goods, putting him in fear, that is, by violence or by menaces of death or personal injury" https://archive.org/details/americandictiona02websrich/page/n489/mode/2up

>>193100 Anon, read the third image you just posted. It says, >substitute a Federal, sex-neutral definition of the offense patterned after S. 1400 §1633 This doesn't mean to copypaste every section of §1633, including the 12 year old bit at the end, it means to follow the same format. Look at the very beginning of §1633, it uses the gendered term "he" instead of a sex neutral one. That should be more than enough to tell you RBG and the other writers did not want §1633 copied verbatim to lower the age of consent to 12. Feminists never want to lower the age of consent. That's not a pedonigger argument for lowering AoC by the way, that's just a historical fact. You're just retarded.

Battlefield 2042 now has three times more players than Halo Infinite <Is Electronic Arts' much-maligned premiere shooter making a comeback? The numbers suggest that things are getting better. >Less than a month after Battlefield 2042 season one came out, the latest installment in EA's marquee shooter franchise appears to have gotten a second wind. >As Tom Henderson points out, the most recent SteamDB stats show that Battlefield 2042 has enjoyed a player base that's at least three times as strong compared to Halo Infinite on Steam. >Even if this is not indicative that the "dying" FPS title is turning the table, it does suggest that things are getting better for Battlefield 2042. >You can also see that the player reviews are no longer "mostly negative" on Steam as they've trended towards the positive and become "mixed" for now. >Battlefield 2042 has managed to retain a pretty decent player base since Season 1 launched and now has 3x the players on Steam than Halo Infinite MP which is free-to-play. >Of course, this still isn't the start that EA envisioned when it launched Battlefield 2042. The controversial publisher's attempt to save face and say that it has not given up on Battlefield 2042 yet is admirable, to say the least. But, when you spend years working on the game, it is expected to top sales charts - not stave off irrelevancy. >For what it's worth, it's a good sign that Battlefield 2042 is beating Halo Infinite in terms of numbers. The latter is a free-to-play game, so it's not like anyone's stopping palyers from logging in whenever they want. >On the other hand, Battlefield 2042 is a premium title that cost retail price when it first came out and it still does. The increased number suggests that players are coming back to Battlefield 2042 en masse. >Only time will tell if Battlefield 2042 can keep up its current run. Hopefully, it can sustain the momentum and survive the release of Modern Warfare 2 as well as Warzone 2 later this year. https://archive.ph/5MzLq Ubisoft finally shows us Skull and Bones, and it just makes me want to play Sea of Thieves >After years of waiting, Ubisoft's open-world game of high seas piracy Skull and Bones (opens in new tab) is just about ready to set sail. We got our first proper look at it during today's Ubisoft Forward event, and more importantly we have a release date too: November 8 is when it finally arrives. >Skull and Bones is set in the Indian Ocean at the end of the 17th century, during the so-called Golden Age of Piracy. From humble beginnings at a small pirate outpost, players will set out to build their empires and legends by taking contracts, earning treasure, and expanding their fleets in "visceral, fast-paced, rewarding" PvE and optional PvP combat, according to Ubisoft. >The only currency that really matters, though, is reputation: As a player's infamy grows, access to new ships, weapons, armor, and other equipment will become available, as will more lucrative—and more dangerous—opportunities. >Plundering ports is completed by entering a specific area of water and waiting for a progress bar to fill up, which isn't what I'd call the height of excitement, especially compared to (again, sorry) Sea of Thieves, where if you want the treasure you actually have to get off your ship to go get it. And there are no player-controlled crews, either: Each ship in Skull and Bones is controlled by a single player, while crews are made up entirely of NPCs. >That might be better for workplace safety—you won't have your whole damn ship and crew blown up (opens in new tab) because Dread Pirate Wes was horsing around in the captain's quarters—but getting up to shenanigans with the gang is what made Sea of Thieves so much fun for me. >I can only judge so much based on a video, and maybe Skull and Bones will play better than it looks. But I'm not convinced that a "darker and grittier approach" to piracy, as Ubisoft put it, with a greater focus on grinding than on goofing around, is all that interesting an idea in the first place, and what Ubisoft showed here today isn't changing my mind. >Skull and Bones will be available on PC through Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, and will feature crossplay and cross-progression on other platforms including the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X-S, and Stadia. Pricing has not been announced. https://archive.ph/JnWIG Skull and bones went from Assassin’s creed 4/Rogue ship battle Online PVP to edgy sea of thieves clone with realistic graphics. Cross

>>193185 3D might have used to be more expensive, but these days that accessibility and reusable assets, and speed of production make it miles cheaper than 2D, and thus immensely more profitable. A part of me laments Disney hasn't made a 2D animated film, the thing that made them successful in the first place, in nearly a decade. However, I know that that's actually a blessing considering how horribly they'd pozz it up, and 2D animation in the west already has enough pozz. >>193220 >Care to back that up with some facts? If it wasn't cheaper, why is 2D being so abandoned in favor of it? Because, back in the early aughts, companies were flooding theaters with 2D animated films and having them flop (Regardless of whether the film was good or not) meanwhile Pixar, O Entertainment, DreamWorks, and Blue Sky Studios were making money hand over fist with their 3D productions simply because it was something different. On top of companies experiencing, then recent, major box office failures such as Titan A.E., The Iron Giant, Treasure Planet, and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. <But, why haven't they returned to making 2D films then? It's been almost two decades. Because they DON'T want 2D films to exist. Why? I have no clue. Where's my evidence of this ploy? Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh. Why do these two films matter? To put it simply, when Disney released Princess and the Frog back in 2009, the film was NOT suppose to be a success. The film was suppose to flop to provide the company a reason to shelve 2D animation altogether. However, because the film succeeded, it did show that the public did want to watch traditionally made 2D animated movies. And, the company heads couldn't have that. So, they pulled the then Winnie the Pooh short film, that the animation studio was playing around with, and demanded a full feature length film. And, then set the film to be released the same weekend as final Harry Potter film, with zero marketing, and unironically going out to the public and stating that the nostalgia of Winnie the Pooh is going to beat out the theatrical conclusion to the unstoppable autism of J.K. Rowling's angsty fantasy teen drama. Needless to say, Disney closed up shop on all of their 2D animation and have never looked back since.

>>193235 >>193240 That's what you get for trying to force 3DPD onto men.
>>193247 >Aren't anime movies doing surprisingly well in the box office though? Yes, you are correct. But, you have to remember that foreign films, when given even playing field, ALWAYS mop the floor with Hollywood productions. You can find this as far back as 2002 with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon becoming one of the most "influential" films to ever reach the West. However, there was even a more recent film that proved this, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. While the film came out in Japan back in 2020, theaters were looking for anything to fill the empty slots Pedowood left in 2021, and the happened upon giving even the slightest attention to it resulted in it instantly becoming the biggest box office film of the year.

>>193365 >>193369 Wait, If the suspect was ex-Jietai, why would he get angry about Abe wanting to stand with Taiwan? Isn't the army mostly hostile to China?
>>193350 Smoke indicates black powder or something similarly crude. That tends to get a very low velocity out of a short barrel. This is especially so for birdshot. If the shot was improvised from diving weights or the like, it would be birdshot. Pic related got shot at short range with premium hunting birdshot from a proper length shotgun when he was 79, and he's still alive at 95.
Can anyone make out what's going on here?
>>193341 Hypocritical which is always annoying but so what? Everyone already expects politicians to be incapable of living in accordance to their so called "values" and "rules". You don't see any Democrats or Republicans in America resigning in shame for breaking lockdown "laws" so why is Boris Unless this alleged party is just a cover story for something even worse he could be falsely framed for or have actually done. Though in retrospect I guess those Covid laws actually had some teeth behind them unlike in America where only NYC and parts of Commiefornia actually arrested people for anything covid related so perhaps that stings even more in Bongland than it would in the USA? >>193343 Well he did BTFO the French especially Napoleons douche of a son which was kinda cool and he had a cool helmet but I would argue the Germans were better off living in a loosely formed confederacy as apposed to the highly centralized state they have now. >>193365 >SDF So he's either a angry the "not military" isn't getting enough funding (because China) acting as a lone wolf or he's a whatever Japan calls their spooks who want to scare the current president into funding the military more (because China)? Or is it the other way around? Japan's "not military" is very controversial from what I understand especially when they get involved in the Middle East even in mere non lethal support roles which in that case is understandable. Webm kind of related.
>>193373 It looks like he almost made an open ended pipe bomb with an electric trigger.

The unusual thing is the ignition, which seems to be electrical.
>>193373 Clearly that's a PAMAS G1, very deadly in the right hands.
What I don't understand is the motive. Abe never rocked the boat much outside of his prerogative for higher birth rates. This assassin could have done much more good taking out some yakuza bosses or somefink.
Update: >Shinzo Abe is in a critical condition >“Currently doctors are doing everything they can, at this moment. I am hoping and praying that former prime minister Abe will survive this,” he says
>>193374 >the Germans were better off living in a loosely formed confederacy as apposed to the highly centralized state they have now. Well, I just found something a little interesting when it came to vidya journalism. It's the review of Crime Patrol that was posted in Maxiumum magazine: https://infogalactic.com/info/Crime_Patrol_(video_game) >Maximum dubbed the PC version "one of the best arcade conversions, ever" but derided the shallow and lowbrow nature of the game itself. They described the line of American Laser Games light gun games as "lineal descendants of fairground shooting galleries. Substitute the moving ducks and gats for an episode of Starsky & Hutch and a plastic pistol ... and you have grasped the essence of the thing." However, they acknowledged that this style of game has its appeal and concluded "No intellectual challenges here, folks, but for the right kind of homo-couchpotatus, Crime Patrol is satisfying piece of idle machismo." They gave it three out of five stars. Would this count as progressive influences seeping into gaming?

>>193526 >I'm not american, what is the article 230? A law from the late 90's that boils down to stating that internet companies are not held liable for posts that their users make in their sites.
>>193529 >>193530 Ah, they are removing the law? I thought they were just going to remove the protection to Facebook and Google.

>>193534 Not that I've heard of, I have no idea what that post is about. There's been calls to repeal probably a bad idea, without something else to take its place or reform probably a good idea, but it'll need a more careful hand than most politicians have nowadays section 230, but they're mostly a rallying cry during election season for candidates that are even slightly internet savvy. The biggest issue is that major sites are claiming to not be publishers, but end up censoring or removing material that they would not be required to take down. So, maybe not a publisher, but more like an editor, which is toeing the line in some cases and flat out crossing it in other cases.

>>193534 Yes, the US will get affected, but it'll be much more noticeable around the world. Many countries have laws holding each and every instance of information distribution liable, especially in Europe. People in these countries have for decades relied on being able to host controversial content that would get the v& or otherwise in trouble in the US. With 230 gone every platform, but most importantly the hosts, will crack down hard on anything that skirts a legal line, and will be more likely to comply to legal threats from foreign governments or NGOs from other countries. Nevertheless, it's a positive development long term, as rapid decline in digital freedom will drive more and more people to the darknets.

>>193530 >>193526 >>193533 SECTION 230 was part of a larger package of legislation (The Telecommunications Act) that sought to grant greater control of the internet to the federal government. Every other part of the original bill was eventually struck down for being in violation of individual's (in the USA companies are considered "individuals") first amendment rights but 230 managed to remain because it did 2 things: it kept cases out of courts (there is no government official lazier or more cowardly than a judge) and it ostensibly seemed to IMPROVE freedom of speech (look, even if people post libel on my forum I'M not liable so I have no reason to moderate it!). The issue is that it's all a crock of shit, case in point CSAM; if the person who operated a platform was never liable for what was posted there then why do sites have to scrub that? Enter the situation that reigns when vague rules become the "law" of the land: Selective Enforcement. Now places that host third-party content just remove what they like which, whaddya know, just so happens to be the things that the government/corporations don't want people talking about. Before 230 the courts' ruling was that publishers (ie people that moderated user's speech) WERE liable which meant you COULDN'T run roughshod over people's first amendment rights without also being in legal hot water when somebody put libel (or any other illegal material) on your forum, you basically had to adopt a complete free speech position or risk being sued into the ground. Of course, most people are idiots like >>193554 and listen to the same media that is actively working to suppress them when it comes to shit like this since they view articles posted on propaganda and news sites as "sources" when what they are actually reading is an interpretation (usually incorrect and designed to influence) of source material, video related.
>>193522 Not much of a traditionalist if you extort your countrymen with pachinko parlors, groom young girls for the idol industry, rape the daughters and wives of those who owe debts to you, and murder political/criminal opponents rather indiscriminately?

>>193565 It basically doesn't matter since the government wouldn't enforce it fairly anyway. Under 230 facebook and friends should be facing fines for being editorial sites, repealing 230 would be seen as a mandate to start bashing smaller sites as the big ones "do better" and threaten to crash the stock market if they ever face existential threats.
>>193559 His ideas are as dead as he is.
>>193565 Exterminate both the government and corporations.
>>193563 >>193568 >It basically doesn't matter since the government wouldn't enforce it fairly anyway Reminder repealing 230 is something trump tried and later got popularized by democrats. >>193565 The rest of the bill was tossed out, this part should've been too. Other court cases operating under the ruling I mentioned had clarified what spam was and whether it counted as free speech (the short answer? No, only the first instance was protected. After that you had expressed yourself and shouting it again and again just fell under the same legality as DDoS) and if Section 230 hadn't come along and basically freed judges from having to do their fucking jobs you'd have seen similar rulings. Remember, judges in the US are lazy and cowardly, it takes years for things to reach the Supreme Court and when they do the judges there typically rule in such a way to support the decisions that regular folk have already committed to while the courts were taking their time. Of course, if your argument is basic bitch niggerpill posting like >>193568 or /leftypol/ style appeal to consensus like >>193571 then you don't really have a leg to stand on. Is game maker Electronic Arts an acquisition target of Apple, Amazon, or Epic? >All things considered, video game leader Electronic Arts is having a pretty decent year despite inflation worries, recession fears and other macroeconomic headwinds. Shares of EA (EA) are only down about 2% in 2022, a drop that’s not nearly as bad as the rest of the tech sector, which is now in bear market territory. >But there are concerns about EA’s future as the gaming industry consolidates. Xbox owner Microsoft (MSFT) is in the process of buying Activision Blizzard (ATVI). Grand Theft Auto maker Take-Two Interactive (TTWO) has already scooped up mobile game developer Zynga. >Will EA be able to remain independent as its peers continue to grow? There’s also growing competition from the likes of metaverse mobile gaming company Roblox and Fortnite maker Epic. Even Netflix (NFLX) has thrown its hat into the gaming arena. >EA has a lot of lucrative franchises, such as the long-running Madden NFL games, a popular soccer series (that will soon lose the FIFA branding), Apex Legends and several games tied to the Star Wars universe. >And there has been a lot of chatter about EA being a good takeover target for deep-pocketed tech and media firms such as Apple (AAPL), Disney (DIS), Comcast (CMCSA), or Amazon (AMZN). >So will EA finally get bought? The company was not immediately available for comment. But EA has been acquisitive in its own right and could be looking for further deals, particularly ones that could bolster its mobile gaming division. >EA made two such acquisitions in 2021, Glu for $2.4 billion and Playdemic (formerly owned by previous CNN parent AT&T (T)) for $1.4 billion. Analysts at Goldman Sachs estimate that there’s about a 15% probability that EA could itself be acquired, “given heightened levels of M&A activity within the video game space,” according to a recent report about the broader tech sector. >It’s a small chance to be sure, but it’s bigger than zero. The analysts came up with a potential takeover valuation of $190 a share, which is “consistent with recent video game transactions.” That’s nearly 50% above EA’s current stock price. >Still, EA has enough quality content to justify going it alone for the foreseeable future. Wells Fargo analyst Brian Fitzgerald noted in a report after EA’s latest earnings came out in May that a “solid pipeline” (more games from EA Sports, plus updates to The Sims, Lord of the Rings and Bioware franchises) as well as “accelerating mobile growth” were positives for the stock. <So EA may not need to sell itself to a larger company to remain competitive in the video game world. https://archive.ph/SBpXD Tolkien Society To Feature Paper Titled “J.R.R. Tolkien, Culture Warrior: The Alt-Right Religious Crusade’s Appropriation of ‘Tolkien’” At Oxonmoot 2022 >Hot off their Summer Seminar 2021 where they put the focus on “Tolkien and Diversity,” The Tolkien Society will now feature a paper at their upcoming Oxonmoot event claiming there is an alt-right religious crusade to appropriate J.R.R. Tolkien. >If you are unfamiliar with Oxonmoot, The Tolkien Society describes it as “an annual event hosted by The Tolkien Society which brings together Tolkien fans, scholars, students and Society members from across the world.” >Oxonmoot 2022 will be held beginning on Thursday September 1st and will conclude on Sunday September 4th. The event will take place in person at St Anne’s College in Oxford as well as online. >As part of the event’s programming, The Tolkien Society revealed they will feature a talk or paper by Robin Reid, a professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce, titled “J.R.R. Tolkien, Culture Warrior: The Alt-Right Religious Crusade’s appropriation of ‘Tolkien.’” >While it’s unclear what the actual contents of the paper or talk actually are, the title makes it very clear it appears to be a political piece and will more than likely highlight Robin Reid’s political views rather than any kind of actual discussion about Tolkien. >And this type of discussion is no stranger to Reid as she previously gave a talk during the New York Tolkien Conference at Baruch College titled “Atheists, Agnostics, and Animists, Oh My!: Secular Readings of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Legendarium” back in 2019. https://archive.ph/Bk86V

'Call of Duty 2024' Leaks Show Gun, Maps, Futuristic Setting, Other Details >The first set of images purportedly belonging to "Call of Duty 2024" has been uncovered by dataminers and it reveals a gun, maps and a futuristic setting of the unannounced game installment from Activision. >Call of Duty data miner RealityUK shared a few images of Treyarch's "Call of Duty 2024" when they gained access to the close alpha of Warzone Mobile Project Aurora. >Some of the images featured a couple of maps, which seemed like concept art since the game is most likely in its early stage of development. >The jet in the image resembles the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk, a retired American attack aircraft introduced in October 1983. This suggests that the game takes place in the '80s or '90s, but it is also likely that developers just borrowed the stealth aircraft's design and used it for a game with a futuristic setting. https://archive.ph/eYhxh Former Archie Comics Sonic The Hedgehog Writer Ken Penders Labels Clarence Thomas An “Uncle Tom” For His Concurring Opinion In Roe v. Wade Decision >Upset with the recent repealing of Roe v. Wade, and in particular Clarence Thomas’ concurring opinion on the decision, former Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog author Ken Penders has written off the U.S. Supreme Court Justice as nothing more than an “Uncle Tom” for those who hold conservative beliefs. >As announced on June 24th following a review of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization legal case, in which the eponymous abortion clinic sued Mississippi State Department of Health officer Thomas E. Dobbs on the grounds that the state’s Gestational Age Act banning all abortions after 15 weeks was unconstitutional, the U.S. Supreme Court held by a 6-3 vote that “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; [Roe v. Wade] and [Planned Parenthood v. Casey] are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives”. >Delivering the opinion of the Court, Justice Alito wrote, “Roe’s defenders characterize the abortion right as similar to the rights recognized in past decisions involving matters such as intimate sexual relations, contraception, and marriage, but abortion is fundamentally different, as both Roe and Casey acknowledged, because it destroys what those decisions called ‘fetal life’ and what the law now before us describes as an ‘unborn human being.’” >Speaking to the argument that a Woman’s right to an abortion was secured under the privacy rights secured by the 14th Amendement’s Due Process Clause, which grants citizens protection against the invasion of their private lives by the government under the provision that no State shall “deprive any person of their liberty,” Thomas asserted in his concurrence that “the resolution of this case is thus straightforward. Because the Due Process Clause does not secure any substantive rights, it does not secure a right to abortion.” >Taking note of the many claims by supporters of Roe that the case’s overturning would lead to attacks on the rights granted to citizens by Griswold v. Connecticut (right of married persons to obtain contraceptives), Lawrence v. Texas (right to engage in private, consensual sexual acts, and Obergefell v. Hodges (right to same-sex marriage), Thomas then attempted to assure the concerned that these rights were “not at issue.” “>The Court’s abortion cases are unique, and no party has asked us to decide ‘whether our entire Fourteenth Amendment jurisprudence must be preserved or revised,’” said Justice Roberts. “Thus, I agree that ‘[n]othing in [the Court’s] opinion should be understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion.’” >However, to that end, Thomas then opined, “For that reason, in future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell,” arguing that “bBecause any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous,’ he continued, “we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents.” >After overruling these demonstrably erroneous decisions, the question would remain whether other constitutional provisions guarantee the myriad rights that our substantive due process cases have generated,” he added. >For example, we could consider whether any of the rights announced in this Court’s substantive due process cases are “privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States” protected by the Fourteenth Amendment. Amdt.” >Though Thomas made no explicit reference to whether these reconsiderations would be done out of an effort to correct poor law or to rescind the respective rights, many leapt to take his opinion as an absolute declaration of war on these freedoms – including Penders. >How screwed-up is Clarence Thomas’s interpretation of the Constitution, Original Intent & US Law?” he asked after the Court officially made public their decision. “George Washington & Thomas Jefferson would have him picking cotton on their plantations. He wouldn’t get anywhere near the Supreme Court except to clean the toilets.” >Receiving immediate backlash and accusations of racism to his post, Penders doubled down, pushing back against his critics, “In case anyone wants to claim I’m a racist for calling out Clarence Thomas for the Uncle Tom that he most certainly is, Thomas is making it clear how much he hates gay rights.” “Sounds pretty bigoted to me,” he concluded. https://archive.ph/rr387

>>193378 Motives can be that "he's dissatisfied with Abe's policies" but won't make sense since he's no longer in power. Keep in mind that the shooter used a homemade (crap) weapon so I doubt it was financed/supported by political/international powers. They would have atleast given a proper weapon. So going back to the personal politics side, this supports the argument for motivations of making a homemade gun, and maybe Abe's not on power but he's regardless an influential figure for those specific policies. So for the shooter it was kind of "stop the policies by shooting the man". I am not familiar with what kind of specific politics Abe ran, how he worked in office, or how many enemies he has, but this seems to be (currently) the most plausible conclusion. Meanwhile news and people are spinning it one way or other.
Battlefield 2042 Player Sentiment Improves From "Mostly Negative" To "Mixed" On Steam Since S1 Launch >Almost one month after the release of Battlefield 2042's season one, the game's player reviews have finally moved from "mostly negative" to "mixed" on Steam. >It's no secret that EA's first-person multiplayer shooter launched in a bit of a state. Shortly after its release in November last year, the game received more than 33,000 mostly negative reviews on Steam with many calling out the DICE for its lack of features and functionality, as well as buggy experience. >However, following the release of Season 1: Zero Hour on June 9, it looks like the opinion of PC players has improved as the game now features "mixed" reviews on Steam instead of "mostly negative." As of writing, the game still has a total of 108,422 "mostly negative" player reviews, but 4,239 of those recently added indicate they are "mixed." >Journalist Tom Henderson shared recent SteamDB stats on Twitter comparing the Season 1 launch of Halo Infinite multiplayer and Battlefield 2042 and, showing that the latter has managed to retain a decent player base since June 9. Henderson notes that Battlefield 2042 also currently has 3x the players than Halo Infinite on Steam. >Last month, DICE's new GM Rebecka Coutaz responded to the game's poor launch, saying that one of the first issues it had was the organization of the development team and the work-from-home setup brought on by the pandemic. >Everybody was disappointed--our community, our players and our team as well. It's a team that has invested years of their lives into this game," she added. "And for that game not to live up to any expectations from the team or from the players, that was tough. We are moving forward and we've done a lot of things since then." https://archive.ph/I9VVc The next Battlefield will have a single-player campaign reveals job ad >A story campaign was the one thing most fans didn’t miss from Battlefield 2042 but it looks like the next game is going to have one anyway. >Only today we mentioned how publishers themselves are usually the best source for leaks, thanks to the way they always fill their online updates with unintended secrets – which is exactly what just happened with Call Of Duty. >Their other common mistake is revealing information in job ads that they haven’t announced publicly, and that’s what EA has done with the next Battlefield. >Current rumours suggest that EA is already well underway with making a new Battlefield, after the disastrous failure of Battlefield 2042, and that it has a similar modern day setting. >There are no official details but job ads for EA’s new studio in Seattle clearly talk about wanting a design director to work on a ‘masterfully designed single-player campaign’. >Battlefield Seattle is focused on building rich, exciting stories with memorable characters and powerful experiences all in the Battlefield universe,’ adds the job description, implying that storytelling is a major element of the new game. >Battlefield 2042 did not have a story campaign but that’s one element of the game nobody was very upset about, as storytelling is not developer DICE’s forte and the series’ single-player modes have rarely proven very popular. >Battlefield Seattle is a new studio though, formed from veterans of Bungie and Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor developer Monolith Productions, who have a better track record when it comes to telling a story. >However, that still doesn’t change the fact that a good story is not why most people play Battlefield and that the main complaint about Battlefield 2042 was the bugs and lack of content. >DICE will still be involved in the new game, and the franchise in general, but the new studio is a sign that EA is adamant about the series continuing, no matter who makes it. https://archive.ph/oJUzj

BAKER? >>193666 Yes, I remember, but Narnia is far more well known than Castlevania. It would cause a larger controversy if an actual Christ figure in a well beloved children's story was turned evil.
>>193676 That's a good point. Most people never played the Castlevania games myself included so it was easier for them to largely get away with drastically changing everything from the source material. Narnia had 3 Disney movie adaptations. It's much more widely known even if for nostalgic reasons.

For instance: I've finished Xenogears and Actraiser recently, been playing Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, and I had a lot of fun playing those games. I never would have if I never got into emulation. You owe it to yourself to try out the classics that inspired a lot of modern games and never had a chance to play.
