It might have reduced cast times if all you need to do is draw the card and activate. It might be able to bypass spell casting limitations on yourself if the magic is tied to the card and not you. And magic tools and scrolls are created by engraving/painting(with a pain that contains powdered magic crystals) magic circles into them, so I had the idea of just doing cards like that with prepared magic circles for a variety of spells engraved into them, modified according to the users needs. Letting you cast spells much quicker in combat than you can do with incantations and even spells you haven't mastered yet, and it would be much easier to carry around than magic tools like wands.

Their powers tend to be "hax" that seals, purifies, banishes, or otherwise exorcises their enemies instead of just annihilating them with brute force. Only a few Senshi specialize in raw destructive power, such as Hotaru and the Outers sans Setsuna. But Hotaru especially is so strong that even after only recently awakening she can annihilate the Earth in her base form by simply touching her trident to the ground and she scales vastly upwards from there. That said, she also tends to be tremendously less useful against most of their enemies because they're the kind of things that raw destructive power isn't very effective against.

My major complaint about Cardcaptor Sakura is Syaoran. And it's not even exclusive to him, it's part of a broader issue I have with the love interest of every traditional shoujo series. Syaoran, like most of his archetype, starts out brash and annoying. He's an entitled, bratty little shit who's borderline unlikable and does nothing but get in the way. Then over time he softens up only to, as so commonly happens to shoujo love interests, flatten into a featureless doormat since he's now lost everything that his character was originally based on, rendering him into what amounts to "the boyfriend" who stands in the background and whose only real remaining trait is his unconditional love for the protagonist. His entire existence becomes so boring and irrelevant that you wonder at why he even exists at all other than to fulfill the girlhood romance stereotype of true love conquering all. But when your true love is effectively a featureless wall who's been left to cheerlead in the back you wonder what the fuck the point of that even is anymore.

And somewhere in the middle of a forest, was a very diligent business partner reshaped into a squatting position who was constantly producing more cute and fascinating monstergirls for me.
