if its for a dj set and you need to make sure you're getting a high quality rip:
go to soulseek settings and set the minimum bitrate to like 320k or something. you might need to lower this if you're trying to find something that was only released on casette.

find the album's catalog id(s) for the pressings you want (cd are best)
search them on soulseek instead of the album name
if you get spam add the band/album name
if you get no results try altering the spacing, removing spaces, or a different catalog id
download it in lossless, highest bitrate possible ideally
this way you know exactly which pressing you're getting. a lot of albums have been remastered or slightly altered with reissues a zillion times.
then finally listen to the music and make sure you didnt get a mislabeled file
if you can't find the album by catalog id and have to deal with mystery meat downloads, download every copy and listen to them and try to find one that isn't a loudness war era shitty repress if you can.
