wfh is the most autism friendly job you can have im doing right now
>>2438 The problem when you have autism is not working but getting the job at all. There are so many jobs I could do but companies simply refuse to hire people with autism.
>>2446 cant you just say you dont have autism? some jobs dont even require an interview
>>2447 If you actually have autism it will be noticeable so lying is pointless. All jobs here require an interview, unless you are lucky enough to be able to get a job through contacts.
>>2446 To make things worse, there's very few job openings a year for actual fun stuff like the things you've studied in college. Most jobs these days are turbo normie crap like fast food, construction and delivery. Finding a nice comfy job where you're in your office, in an old commie-era building is an impossible feat. >>2447 HR ladies usually have psychology degrees, they know. It's rare to have an interview without HR ladies present.
I got into boat stuff. Maintenance is simple and repetitive, attention to detail is mandatory and appreciated. Everyone is a little rough so being a weird is forgiven as long as you're good at your job. There is one right way to do things, and command structure is very clear. 10/10 gonna keep doing it.
How are data entry jobs? I know someone who has a job like that and it sounds miserable and repetitive but you can stay in your room all day.

>>2586 I wish I could get a data entry job, but all I can find is fake scam listings.
>>2451 That isn't true, there is something known as masking. A lot of people would never have any idea, because there idea of austim is based on limited information, and stereotypes.
>>2630 Yeah makes sense, it seems like you have to get really lucky to find one and you're going to have to hold it down when you do.

>>2631 >mask >out of gas after 2hrs >can't talk to people effectively and get extremely agitated >rest of my day is ruined and i'm extremely tired. it helps, i can do really well in interviews and short presentations so maybe i'm not even autistic. doing this sucks a lot though
>>2446 WDYM I.T. is full of autists? I know I am one.
>>2446 This. I managed to mask well enough to get my current job, which actually pays well, but they eventually figured out I was a retard after I kept fucking up. I figured I'd try to get a different job since I was close to getting fired. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of them either ignored my resume or ghosted me after the interview. These weren't exactly hard jobs either that I applied for. For example, one of them involved you working in a warehouse and just prebuilding computers. The other involved you just working as a front desk assistant. I'm still at my current job. It's pretty divided, though. What I mean by that is half of my supervisors/coworkers are willing to make accommodations and help me while the other half wants to see me fail and will report me over the dumbest shit. The job itself is okay. I just can't work it full-time because I have to deal with a lot of people and get burnt out easily. I just don't know how much longer I can hold it, sadly, before I inevitably get fired and become a NEET
>>2706 I'm also super autistic and can mask fairly well. I honestly think if you're not a complete moron artists should work security. It's so piss easy, I sit in a room watching cameras and playing on my phone. If I work at the gate or something all interactions are scripted, and as long as you're polite most don't care if you completely ignore them, and if it gets brought up just say you don't believe in fraternization.
Why most autism content on the internet is full of clueless foids saying nothing that can be remotely useful?
>>2759 Because people only care about what foids have to say, foid autists are completely unrelated to male autists who actually deal with awful shit day-to-day. They have nothing valuable to say because good social interactions and connections are still handed to them because they're women.
>>2661 youre not autistic because autistic people dont "mask" do wheelchair-bound individuals "mask" and decided to walk on two legs when its convenient?
>>3147 Yes spergs do mask because they're not autistic enough to be totally obvious but still get the negative aspects of autism
>>3147 Some people in wheelchairs can, in fact, walk when they want to. But they have issues like bone cancer which makes their bones brittle and sore so they risk lots of pain and serious injury if they walk too much.
>>3157 I think this is the perfect analogy for autistic masking: yes, it's possible to put on a neurotypical act, even for hours at a time, but it's exhausting and draining to do so day in, day out, 8 hours a day 5 days a week. It wears down on you to consciously consider every facial expression, every twitch of the eyebrow, when exactly it's appropriate to laugh or to sigh or the proper ratio of looking people in the eye and not looking them in the eye. Not to mention belittling and demoralizing to never allow yourself to just BE without risking social censure and thereby losing your job, getting kicked out of school, etc. It's the leading cause of autistic burnout, commonly misdiagnosed as depression, not to mention why autistic adults are 9x more likely to kill themselves and is the second leading cause of death for autistic adults. Non-autistic people have no idea just how alienating it is to feel that Every. Damn. Thing. You. Do. is wrong and unwelcome, and has been since early childhood. It's exhausting. It's demoralizing. It burns you out and makes you never want to leave your room ever again.
