do anons have hobbies? ones that aren't consooming at least how do anons manage to do them when a lot of those types of hobbies take a tremendous amount of effort? i find that after 30 minutes of doing something like that i feel exhausted also please talk about your hobby because id love to hear what anons do
I like to scrapbook to preserve my memories, goes along with my photography hobby. I save cards and random stuff to do it. I also like woodburning, gardening, flower pressing, scratch art, embroidery, disc golfing, hiking, camping, video games, cooking, dress up games, journaling, stamp collecting, shooting, and making art. Current art I am doing is dog paw prints into flowers also using yogurt caps for mixed media canvas art I have energy for my hobbies because they are fun not work not everything needs to be monetized to have value to your life. It also helps having natural creative talent I have created many successful memes. I have meme magic and the "it factor" so creating gives me energy
I am similar to you OP as I have tried many hobbies in the past but it feels like nothing truly sticks after a while. My latest endeavors have been trying to learn to code, and I'm a bit too low IQ for that it feels like and I get burnt from it quickly. I also have been drawing on-and-off for most of my life, and recently I managed to stick with it for a few months but I felt too exhausted to keep doing it after a certain point because I kept worrying about being stuck as a permabeg. One consistent thing I do is keep track of my dreams, and that is enjoyable and low-effort enough that I can maintain it forever and I like looking back and reading my old dreams, it feels very strange. >>2511 I wish I had your energy, how do you do it?
>>2513 i have also been trying to draw recently anon, it's very satisfying to make progress and improve and be able to draw more things, but it requires so much thinking that after doing it for a bit i collapsed into my bed from exhaustion i dont think these things are really iq based because i have extremely good spatial reasoning and fine motor skills but i have always struggled with visual creativity things, i feel like coding comes more naturally to me but i hate it why do you worry about being a permabeg? i also wish i had the other anon's energy but i dont even think he knows why he has it
>>2517 I'm worried mostly due to a bit too much looking at other people that had what I judged to be similar skills to mine and seeing that they had given up or had been stuck with the same skill level for years to no avail. I realize it's a trap to get caught in this loop of course but everything gets exhausting after a while and I just go back to passively consuming media as that's what's comfortable. What languages do you write code in anon? I'm curious to hear how you developed your skills, it's been something I've been meaning to commit myself to but of course I'm too tired most of the time.
>>2510 Is playing guitar a hobby? Because ive been doing that for ten years. I dont play in bands or anything but some people say im good enough too. Idk. Thats not why i started doing it.
>>2520 I remember slugbox's art style being glistening ass but having some potential to be cute like 15 years ago It is the exact same today, and part of me blames his marriage dissolving on this. Don't be him
>>2521 yah, its one of those things that takes a lot of effort and creativity if youre up for it like drawing >>2520 just look at it like this anon, you'll stop getting better when you're satisfied, and if you're satisfied youll be happy with your art as it is, so if you keep trying to improve youll win no matter what the only way youll stay a permabeg and regret your decisions is if you stop trying at all
>>2523 Well then anyways, i started playing guitar because it seemed cool and i kinda wanted to play riffs of so gs i knew. Then i just kept learning different riffs of songs i knew, then i learned songs, then i was comfortable enough with the guitar to stsrt coming up with stuff in my own. Now i can just jam by myself and make some cool riffs and play for like half an hour and have it sound pretty nice. I like music a lot, music that uses guitar, so im always kinda inspired or at least thinking about it.
>>2524 thats pretty cool anon, its nice that you can just manage to make stuff up, i gave up music a long time ago, i think its better for my hearing anyway
>>2510 My hobbies are sleeping, browsing 4chan, watching youtube, playing some vidya and masturbating.
Video games (browser game), drawing, read article, shitposting, clock watching l,eating
>>2540 >i think its better for my hearing anyway Thats nonsense anon. Guitar doest have to be loud. And they make ear plugs. Drummers use ear plugs when they play sometimes. If it was guitsr you gave up you should just have a cheap acoustic in your place that you can mess with whenever. Just having it available is half the battle. Thats why my Guitar is always right next to me, so i can pick it up on impulse
>>2565 Do you like playing browser games or is it because your pc sucks?
>>2568 I'm playing it since 22yrs ago, I play online games too using gtx970 for 10yrs anyway
>>2510 >do anons have hobbies? ones that aren't consooming at least I clean up broken glass along roadsides in my city, then polish it to make jewelry! >how do anons manage to do them when a lot of those types of hobbies take a tremendous amount of effort? Passion! Basically all my equipment besides my dremel is made from scrap! Old printer rotors and rods repurposed into a rock tumbler/ball grinder, homemade grit from sand and the likes. I like making something from trash!
Kombucha is a great NEET hobby. Komucha is a fermented tea which you make by feeding kombucha sweet tea. I am always trying new flavors and stuff and it's not hard because it is just pouring some acidic fermented tea into a bottle/vessel with sweet tea or fruit in it. it is NEET and hikki friendly because it is: So cheap with just tea and sugar. Feel too sad to bother today or this week or this month or 3? it's ok your scoby will be waiting for you. Recipe: 20 grams loose leaf or 10 tea bags per 3 liter and 50 grams of sugar a liter. The sugar gets eaten up so it isn't that sugary when you drink it. I also feed ravens. That is a cool hobby, they get to know you also. You get used to always having nuts with you for treats.
>>2619 it seems neat, but im quite scared of any bacteria growing stuff because im not a very clean type of person, so i worry about bad bacteria also i read that it can acidify you and hurt you my dad likes feeding crows peanuts also, they're kinda like ravens but a bit less ominous i think id like to find something like this that isn't so dangerous for someone like me
>>2619 I'm glad to hear you feed them nuts. Many people feed them white bread and it's actually bad for birds since it makes them feel full without providing any nutrients. Also since you're into kombucha, have you considered similar things like yoghurt, kefir or sauerkraut? >>2651 >it seems neat, but im quite scared of any bacteria growing stuff because im not a very clean type of person, so i worry about bad bacteria It's of course not foolproof but usually you can tell visually if the right bacteria is growing because it won't develop into a proper product otherwise. >also i read that it can acidify you and hurt you I'm not really sure what this means? A lot of things we eat are acidic but (relatively) harmless. Also IIRC black tea has a pH of 5 to 6 so it's already acidic by itself.
>>2619 Fermenting and pickling is fun, I picked it up for booze back when I was underage but now I'll just try to pickle basically anything
(525.52 KB 927x1236 20250414_082543.jpg)

>>2652 I feed the ravens heart and chicken neck along with kibble and fresh water. Bread isn't even god for humans to eat really heh I have fermented natto once and water kefir. I want to get more into fermenting though. I like kimchi and have a lot of soybean for miso and natto. >>2651 Don't be scared of making ferments. Kombucha is easy at least
>>2510 I like to collect anime shit, but I guess that counts as consooming. I guess I do like to fuck around with 3d models in unity and blender. I've never actually created anything from scratch. I usually just take a base or premade model and fuck around with it until I get it to where I like it.
>>2652 i get very paranoid over food going bad so i have someone else check to see if it's bad before i eat things just in case also i read that it's more acidic than normal stuff or something so drinking a lot of it can be bad for you i think, ketoacidosis or something >>2707 do you ever feel like working from a premade model is too limiting for what you want to make anon? i guess you can kinda do anything with a model if you want, also what anime stuff do you collect?
>>2709 >do you ever feel like working from a premade model is too limiting for what you want to make anon? Definitely. My knowledge in blender is a little limited, though. If I want to make something from scratch, then usually I'll use VRoid to make my own custom model, fix it in blender, then do the final touches in unity. It usually doesn't look as good as premade bases you'd find on Booth, however. As for anime merchandise, I collect really anything that catches my eye. What I tend to really look out for, though, is stuff of my waifu, Marie Rose. She's my favorite character from a fighting game called Dead or Alive. >inb4 that's not anime She has a 3D anime-styled design, similar to Miku, as well as numerous 2D depictions. Besides I do collect actual anime merch too like from Onimai, Nekopara, Is the Order a Rabbit, and numerous other animes as well.
>>2715 Awesome animoo merch anon. This anon collects art and Kapura is their favorite artist https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/33670109
I like to write, but I only do it like once a week
i like playing guitar and programming, keeps me sane.
>>2510 i enjoy shooting, always had an autistic interest in firearms so once i started to become more independent i joined a local shooting club and took up the hobby started off just shooting for fun mostly, but i eventually started to get more interested in the competition side of things and made an effort to go in at least once a week to practice ended up securing a medal in my first competition and placed in the top 20% out of 200+ shooters which made me happy giving myself that goal, that target of training at least once a week really helped motivate me to keep up the hobby and so did the committment of the postal competitions i eventually ended up becoming a range officer for the club, and over the past year i've not really been shooting much but i still work shifts pretty regularly i've come to just really enjoy spending time at the club, it's full of good people since we don't tend to tolerate assholes around firearms i'll shoot once or twice a month, go in with one of the other RO's and shoot groups with some of my favourite club guns but i just don't have the energy or motivation to keep up with competitions or regular practice, but the committment of being a range officer and having scheduled shifts keeps me involved in the hobby

>>2510 I keep a journal, spend hours reading and exercise. The exercise is mostly bodyweight stuff, yoga and doing step-ups so I don't have to go out. If I don't feel the urge to pace about or look up random shit I can just sit reading at my desk all day. I enjoy poetry, historical fiction or autofiction where the author is almost as bi a loser as myself. My consoomerish hobbies are 40K and vidya.
The gym when it's cold and snorkeling/spearfishing when it's hot. Moving heavy things and chasing critters are great activities for free dopamine and being left alone.
>>2764 How do you even get into a shooting club as a robot? I feel they would definitely call the cops if I went there
>>2510 My hobbies are sketching and studying Japanese but I seldom have enough motivation to do either. Instead, I waste lots of time watching YouTube videos and picking fights with stupid people on Elon's website. I can dump hours into that because it's all I'm actually passionate about and it's a good stress reliever when you don't have any friends.
>ones that aren't consooming at least I hate this arbitrary requirement in order to be considered an interesting person so much. Pretty much every hobby that "isn't consooming" requires you to both be an outright genius and have infinite time on your hands. I seriously don't know how ANYONE does it, I guess it's just because my life is too overwhelming, but I'm a NEET so I shouldn't have this issue.
>>2510 I really like cars and want to work on my mine, but it is an absolute bitch to do so without your own property to do it on.
im glad i can take breaks from posting >>2801 you dont have to be a genius anon, it took me over half a year of wishing i could start drawing to start drawing, why is your life so overwhelming anon? i think you can still be an interesting person despite all that but i just wanted to hear about anons hobbies since i always struggle with my own.. >>2767 >>2768 how do you both have it in you to exercise and stuff when it feels so tiring and bad? it also adds extra work in the form of needing to shower more..
>>2840 >how do you both have it in you to exercise and stuff when it feels so tiring and bad? it also adds extra work in the form of needing to shower more.. It's only in the beginning because your body isn't used to it. Once you've done it for a few weeks you'll be fine. If anything you get more stamina throughout the day. It's true you need to shower afterwards but a one-minute shower is enough, you only need to rinse off the sweat and change clothes.
>>2840 >why is your life so overwhelming anon Because I'm stuck living with my family and I'm tired of it. I never feel like I have space since I'm stuck on the same floor as everyone else, my brother is always sitting on the stupid couch even though he has the whole upstairs to himself, and my mother, the only person who I actually get along with is usually busy helping others or working. And before anyone says to move out, I can't. I'm barely strong enough to take care of myself, how am I gonna get a job, finish getting my drivers' license, and take on all that responsibility?
(272.01 KB 804x1024 shopping.jpg)

>>2926 nta but im in a similar position. living with my parents wouldnt be so bad if our house wasnt so small and if the walls werent paper thin. that and i can hardly stand dealing with my stepfather. ive got a job, but dont make enough (and am probably not responsible enough) to move out. ive got a car but only use it to commute and get food. other drivers are insane and dissuade me from driving for any other reason. ill explore the town in my car late at night but i rarely dare to explore on foot when folks are around. >hobbies writing sci-fi and fantasy stories that i never finish or writing my thoughts and observations on this or that in my diary i mean journal. playing guitar and writing lyrics/instrumentals but never putting any of it together to make a song. i too get exhausted quickly. id like to study and grow shrooms and plants, learn to play the vibraphone, or take up competitive shooting like this anon >>2764 since shooting is fun and ive got good aim (i think), but i only have so much money, space, attention span, and intelligence... im sure ill get to these at some point... other than that i enjoy consuming literature, gaming, films, etc.
>>2801 Not consooming really just boils down to having an artistic hobby.
(699.21 KB 777x862 kerillian1.png)

>>2510 >smoking >vidya (as i type this i realize i haven't played a game and just enjoyed it in too long) >youtube if i could afford anything i would be painting the 40k minis i got forever ago i don't get why people have hobbies, i usually burn out extremely quickly, too. i don't get how people just keep going. are they forcing themselves to because they think they'll enjoy it some time in the future? do they feel obligated to do some hobby for some reason? i don't get it. only recently painting the minis has interested me but it's not the first time this has happened and i'm sure it'll burn through me quick if i start, and then i'll head on to something new.
>>2932 no it doesn't, there's plenty of stuff like all the computerfag hobbies, gardening, exercise related stuff (hiking, biking, etc), camping or other /out/ activities, a lot of dad type hobbies like carpentry or just building stuff in general wouldn't be considered artistic in a traditional sense, there's plenty to do if art isnt your thing anon >>3011 that used to happen to me a lot, id get really into stuff for a few weeks/a month and then id stop and never do it again, it took a lot of passion and skimping on other stuff to have enough motivation to make it into a (semi consistent) habit i enjoy it when i do it im just bad with motivation why do you get burnt out anon?
>>2743 writing is cool anon. You made me smile with your nice picture btw.
(963.30 KB 3024x4032 IMG_7022.jpg)

Main hobby is drawing, try to practice a few hours a day, through studying comic pages like picrel, which is the one I did today, as well as gesture stuff. Got a good amount of ideas in my head I wanna get out, with the main one being this political thriller broadly about how fucked our society is, but first I wanna make a smaller comic, namely Im writing one about exploitation, following a pair of influencers taking a vacation after rugpulling their crypto coin, and then stumbling into a bigger scheme involving the government. Probably get some other people to read it first so I dont sound insane or retarded, but wanna make interesting work
(162.84 KB 958x1280 delfgf.jpg)

>>3034 >passion i don't think i've ever really been passionate about something, though >skimping on other stuff like making time to do the hobby? i don't get it. i should just WANT to paint 40k models, instead i want to want to paint 40k models. i wish i had the desire to do something besides yt and dogshit vidya. am i supposed to force myself to do these things? >why do you get burnt out anon? one day i'll just forget or think "i don't feel like painting, i'll just gaym" and then i never remember
>>3083 i dont know if it really works like that, a lot of times i want to draw but still need to force myself to do it, i enjoy it when i do, but the world has made it so much easier to just watch stuff and play vidya that it's easy to get stuck in a loop of doing that of course it'll be less rewarding, but it's more rewarding in the long term i think, you cant just decide to be good at painting models or drawing one day >>3048 thats really cool anon, all the backgrounds in your comic look all proper too, im still trying to learn perspective so backgrounds look really impressive to me right now i think youll make interesting stuff, your characters are neat looking
