Battlestation thread! Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 01:05:16 No. 17737 >>17871>>18488
Refugee special edition! We can post multiple pictures now! I really hope the strange and angry OS war shills don't come here
I do not have one to share but I enjoy the pictures and eagerly await more
Can it really browse the internet, or just display images? I like the aesthetic tho
>>17782 It's a poweredge r730 server with 700gb ram and 64gb (and 2 mb) vram, it can in fact browse the internet, I don't know how to code but I've managed to make a semi-bespoke version of AlmaOS running cinnamon and I'm setting up a thin client so my wife and I can game on it, I also made this thread ages ago https://8chan.moe/t/res/16378.html The project just kind of kept getting bigger and bigger The background pc is just for writing though, that's my commodore 128d
(1.21 MB 1600x1200 doxxremoved.png)

Here's the desktop I made, I just scribbled out some weird folder attached to weird shit I make to prevent doxx, half chan started calling it "objectively bad" when I posted it in the desktop thread, like nigger I just like making it look pretty and the zorin OS theme didn't work so I had to make it myself At the moment I'm trying to figure out some fun widgets that exist in the terminal so I can feel like hackerman when I boot it up
>>17803 Oh wow I thought the old apple monitors all died the forever death
>>17788 Why did they call this objectively bad? I like it anon
>>17814 I don't know, I said >Go into someones someones house >ugh these drapes >this carpet >they're objectively bad Then asked if he actually cared about technology I think the vast majority of people using 4chan before the hack didn't actually give a shit about what they were talking about, it's weird how many stupid pointless posts there were about >Don't do that >ugh linux you dont value your time >le its all over privacy posting people I mention this to say normalfags are the problem, but when I talk to tech normalfags they don't do this, it's a problem exclusive to 4chan and a version of it existed on every board
>>17788 It's not objectivity you know and so I won't try to claim it, but the minimalist b&w material design icons remind me of going full circle back to the AOL My First Computer CDs which were something we used to make fun of all the way since 1997-99 Which is funny to me because I will have went through the all-black glass look vista phase like everybody else back then too.
>>17857 I mean preference is fine right, you don't have to like it, I just found it gay that some faggot is going >objyektuvly On a thread about what desktop environment you enjoy Old 4chan had a lot of stupid fights that I think were just started by bots and shills, it didn't seem like anyone actually cared about the subject they were seething about Like even the desktops I didn't like or couldn't understand, I appreciate them because someone made it how they want it to be, same goes for a lot of the battlestations out there, I want the attention whores to come back so I don't feel so alone
>>17858 What else is a deconstructionist to do? I can tell you to stop being a homosexual and to go outside in order to bully you and make myself feel good, or I can tell you to stop being a homosexual and to go outside because I will the good in you and want to see you do better, because you have shared a part of yourself and have constructed something, whereas I have not and can only tear down in this disfunctional way in my own shame. It is like that with people. Particularly the young. They can not express themselves well, they lash out from the scars or stains they've accumulated on the brain and you're just bistander collateral for stepping up and sharing something in their periphery. I like your Commodore musicbox. It says certain things, not just that someone has cared about this thing, but also whoever owns this is able to flex at least moderate levels of expertise, and is carrying the philosophy of barebones/bare metal necessary to create music in a way that is not obstructed or obscured by layers of instruction sets, or virtual cores or other modern bullshit put in the way of addressing a piece of hardware. It's beginning to say "money" too. The whole hobby getting rare and expensive in order to do things properly.
>>17860 >Money Pretty much all of this was scrounged together from the basement or bought for cheap from yard sales for me to bring back to life, old things just make me happy, especially when they're actually being used not just someone showing something off on a shelf Everything else sounds about right, but I feel like if you actually have a hobby you naturally want to see other people share it Anyways I appreciate you anon, thank you for the kind words, I hope other people share their battlestations soon so I call call them awesome too!
>>17737 (OP) Where is the maga furry schizo? We cannot have a proper battlestation thread without him.
(163.47 KB 900x427 1723354094287015.jpg)

>>17871 I don't know fren, I'm scared, maybe they'll find their way here like we did, all we can do is carry the weight of our board and hope what was remains
(5.63 MB 4000x2252 Battlestation Apr 18 2025.jpg)

>>17871 >>17873 I am NOT a schizo. I may be a MAGA, a furry, and a schizo, but I am NOT a porn star!
>>18034 I've never been so glad to see you in my life anon, welcome home
>>18050 Good to see you too, anon. I'm LOVING these filesize limits. I don't need to accommodate a crusty 2MB limit anymore. >welcome home I'm VERY tempted to stay here, to be honest. Even if THAT site comes back.
(3.90 MB 3840x2160 PXL_20240908_090738986.MV.jpg)

>>18051 >Even if THAT site comes back Hope it never does, and all the jannies die mad.
>>18094 >CRT >Landline >BIG pc >Just to play on the table Based, post specs, I can tell that thing is a beast just looking at it
>>17788 Probably because they do not like the high contrast icons, they are pretty boring looking in my opinion, but function trumps form. If it works for you it's good. My desktop is similar. Those faggots probably just all expect loli wallpapers, pastel colors, and nothing on the desktop except for an 8px tall taskbar. >>18034 Hey I have that Nintendo Power poster too!
>>17788 I dig the red tbdesu
>>18268 Thank you, I'm glad you like it, I think it looks really good on my CRTs with their nice blacks

>>18962 What is the spindle for anon? you have so many wires, also is that in a shed? I think it's based for the record, like half minimalist half /x/fag hiding from wendigos
>>19041 The two spools? They are just leftover cat6 ethernet I am using for security cameras I am hiding from humanity
>>17803 This picture smells like mint
(47.69 KB 2028x2842 1745605046856170.png)

>>18962 what model is that.. and also what os is on it!
>>17788 i agree it's a cool theme, matches nicely being on a server os. but how are you running that thing in that attic crawlspace lmao, did you lower the fan speed? >>18094 my brother in christ, have you heard of cable management >>18962 is that sheet behind your desk for thermal management or blocking the fbi from scanning your penis?
(2.26 MB 4000x3000 server fan.jpg)

(2.59 MB 4000x3000 wirehell again 2.jpg)

>>21177 I installed a mainframe server fan behind the blonder tongues because it was on ebay and cheap, and it actually runs quite cool all things considered, pic is where I installed it kinda and it helps hold all the cords up so that when I work inside the server it's not as much of a pain, I think my little rack is about at the weight limit though by the way if anyone could identify the mainframe this is from i'd be happy, seller just said it was from one
(1.92 MB 4000x3000 IMG20250426095045.jpg)

(1.50 MB 4000x3000 IMG20250426095001.jpg)

This is it installed (I don't take new photos often because I don't use a smartphone), it was a little hard to do and some pis have broken containment but now that the fan is installed it's really easy to access the server compared to when all the cords were resting on it
