>>17771 (OP) iPhone is best phone thx
>>17781 I have an S21fe and I don't plan to change it unless the screen gets damaged.
Just curious, has the voice assistant on android been working for people? When I tried it, it never fucking worked AND you had to unlock your phone to do simple tasks.
I've been using a Pixel 8 running iodéOS for the last year, and so far I've been fairly happy with it.
>>17880 I'm very tempted to upgrade to the Pixel 9a, but many of the roms I like still don't even support the Pixel 9 yet. The Pixel 9a also have quite a thicc bezel..
>>17882 Isn't 9a kind of crappy hardware and they are leaning heavily on AI to be more efficient? If so, I would not expect custom ROMs to perform so well. Which turns me off from getting one because a custom ROM is a must for me. Can anybody dispute this?
>>17915 If my freaking Poco F1 can run lineage 22 smoothly, I see no reason why Pixel 9a won't
>>17915 >>17919 My father runs the latest Lineage on a god damn Redmi Note 10 Pro. It's Snapdragon 732G is actually less powerful than the SD845 in the Poco F1, and yet it still runs the OS really well. Fully degoogled and using only FOSS apps, but that's the way he likes it.
>>17880 >>17922 Very based.
I have a z flip 4 and i love it everyday. I know its not the most durable and it did develop scratches on the crease from normal use. But id buy another if it broke. I love folding it to put it away so much. And i love not worrying about the screen since its folded shut. I dont want the newer one because i like the smaller screen on the 4. Having a big screen when its closed seemes to defeat one of the big perks of folding it. Protecting the screen. You can get it refurbished for around $300
So is the red magic 10 pro the best phone atm
The LineageOS developers need to steal some features from lawnchair for trebuchet. Would be great if trebuchet had more customization.
>>18110 what's stopping your from just installing lawnchair and using that? do you lose out on stuff by switching off the stock launcher?
What can I do to get away from Google's spyware?
>>18113 Install iodéOS.
>>17781 I really like my iPhone 13 mini but I hate that when I'm charging it it'll say its 44% complete but at the top right it says something like 55% complete. Other than that its a flawless phone as soon as you remove a few hiccups to help preserve your battery life. But I still love my Motorola g9 plus.

>>17771 (OP) Not sure if I should ask here or the consumer advice thread. I've been torn about getting a new smartphone. My current one is a Xiaomi A2 I bought 7 or so years ago, it's serviceable, but it's showing signs of an imminent demise. I've wanted to get a higher end phone with a good camera so I could record myself painting minis and building yugioh decks. From a software perspective, can't be Chinese (apps cant be uninstalled, hyper OS has ads...) as I'll be scanning all my medical documents onto it as PDFs for easy sharing with doctors that always bother me that I don't bring a binder full of paper to them. I also want to play master duel on it. I really wanted an S24 Ultra, but can't find one at a decent price, S25 Ultra feels pointless and due to insane VAT these phones are very pricey. Don't want to risk a Tensor/Exynos chip either. Considered the S25 or S25+ as well, but unsure if I even want to spend that much. The S25+ is 1 224€ or 1100€ with a cashback offer. Could get a used S24Ultra for 910€, but would prefer something new with more than a years warranty at these prices. Maybe I'm missing some other obvious choices, but as of now Samsung feels like my only Android option. The S25 non-plus I'm worried about the battery and heating. It's also around 900€ new for the 256GB version with a discount. Have considered an iphone, but I need my tachiyomi and the like. I initially considered an ipad A16, but I went to the store and it seemed pretty meh and small next to the air and also non-laminated screen was kinda bad. (Maybe that was just a vibes thing next to the Air.) The air 13 felt too heavy to hold and also the price difference escalated to the flagship phone territory. At that point I might as well get a phone with a good camera. Any suggestions or opinions on the matter? Honestly I'm reluctant, somewhat trying to talk myself out of doing it. It's like 1.5 months of my wages, though I'm still a leech so whatever. The phone should last me at least 7 years as well.
>>18430 13 mini is an excellent phone. I really hope they come back to the minis every one in awhile.
>>18118 >subscription based. nope
>>18097 Does it develop an annoying crease in the middle of the phone?
(97.22 KB 253x164 1609627881344.png)

>>18928 Oh yea. Mine has developed a bunch of little scratches on the crease. It just happened over time during normal use. Maybe after 3 months. If it broke within a year i wouldn't be suprised. Ot maybe itnwont get any worse. Idk. love it so much though id probably just buy it again. Im a sucker for neat tech.
>>18097 >>19089 I hope I don't sound like a dick, don't mean to be, but I don't get the appeal of foldable smartphones at all. I would genuinely understand it more if it was a legit modern flip phone instead. What is the appeal at all, especially with that small one? A base S25 is small enough, with a screen protector I never worry about the screen either. Also what do you mean you don't have to worry about it? It comes creased out of the box I assume, with a guaranteed inevitable failure. The soft screen is likely also less durable than a normal one. I'm more nostalgic for a sliding phone though so I guess if you are old enough to be nostalgic for flip phones I might see why you'd want one of these.
I have a Google Pixel with GrapheneOS installed and I've heard the meme that GrapheneOS is generally "the way to go", though I am a bit skeptical nowadays because I find it hard to believe that you can completely deGoogle hardware... that's made by Google :^)
I don't know which phone to upgrade from my OnePlus 7 Pro. I just want a phone that can play gacha games and has LineageOS support
>>19094 You dont sound like a dick. And just to be clear I have the Z flip not the z-fold. So it folds in half, to be about the size of a wallet. It's not one of those folding ones where it's a SmartPhone and then it unfolds into a tablet. I wouldn't want one of those. To me, one of the biggest weaknesses of smartphones is that there's a big glass screen that has no protection on it. So being able to fold the phone protecting the screen, kind of solves this issue. So when I have my phone in my pocket I don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched up by keys or other shit I might put in there. Having the screen fold it in half protects it. Or dropping it and then having it land face down and have been cracked by a rock or something. But yes, due to the screen being foldable, it's a soft thin flexible piece of glass that is ironically, more fragile then typical phone screen. But after having the phone for a while it just feels very satisfying and almost correct to fold the phone in half when you're done with it and put it away. Like you're closing the door after you leave a room. It feels really natural and it honestly seems strange having a phone that you don't close when you're done with it. And the tiny screen on the front is really neat. It feels like I'm peeking into the phone instead of actually using it. Even though I am aware that the micro actions that you're doing in the front screen is almost like the same stuff that you could do in a lock screen of a regular smartphone. And if none of that stuff is compelling, having a what seems like a glass screen that you can fold in half and have it not break it's just cool technology. That in and of itself is a big reason why I just like it. It's cool and fun to just fold this thing. And just look at the phone when it's folded in half and have it still work. It's cool
Is it a good idea to buy a phone with a fan inside or is that retarded and autistic? What do you guys think
>>19163 if you want sustained gaming performance you need a fan. so all gaming phones have a fan.
PocoGODS, ww@?

>>19103 >I find it hard to believe that you can completely deGoogle hardware... that's made by Google :^) I sympathize with your sentiment here. It's funny how sometimes buying the Pixel is the only option of you want to run an unlocked bootloader with a custom ROM. I have come to see that as paying google to fuck off.
>>20190 not doing too good, actually. early china tests of turbo 4 pro show anomalous power draw and lower scores than the engineering sample. having glass back is also a huge L.
>>20251 I'm very happy with my Poco F6.

>>20254 I'm a bit unhappy because of the small battery, and the amount of heat, which is actually pretty good but I want to game without a cooler. not sure it's possible with current phones but with F7 it might be at least possible to switch to 30fps+framegen for that
>>17781 I got tired of my iPhone 13. I shoved it in a drawer and switched to my cousin's old Pixel 3. Damn. Even such an old phone feels refreshingly versatile compared to iOS. I've come to fucking hate Apple's bullshit so much over the years. Mark my words, in 10 years it will be clear Apple is dying. I don't know how much it will take to actually die tho
I was just thinking of switching to an iPhone. Custom ROM support and rooting is pretty much dying so why not?
>>17880 >not using GrapheneOS shiggy
>>20192 Also Fairphone and Shiftphone
>>20192 Also Fairphone and Shiftphone
>>20346 my friends use snapchat also RCS
>>19163 seems retarded, maybe we will see something with airjet pak.
Any Pocobro with the X7 Pro? I'm thinking of finally retiring my X3 Pro.
>>20350 RCS works just fine on my pixel 8 w GrapheneOS. Idk about snapchat, but I'm not a horny highschooler.
>Poco F4 >Motorola Edge 40 Pro >iPhone 15 Pro Max Any of these phones worth upgrading from my OnePlus 7 Pro?
>>20430 >x7pro >>20706 >f4 have you guys not seen the turbo 4 pro drop? this thing is going to dominate the market when it drops in global as well.
(147.11 KB 630x600 i guess we've become china.png)

Is there a way I can hide my phone's contents from a US CBP search? I was thinking of something where putting in one passcode boots into a new, fresh install, and my actual passcode boots into my regular Android OS with all my apps and data. That way, if they ask to search the phone, I give them the "fresh" passcode and they just think it's a burner phone. While in "burner" mode, a look at system info should show fake stats for the storage space, and all the data from the "real" OS should remain encrypted and hidden in a file manager. I don't want to be hassled just because I messaged a friend and was critical of the government.
>>21286 Some ROMs have a duress password but this may entail wiping the phone. I think GrapheneOS has something like that but if you are using Samsung get fucked m8. Customs, if they look at your phone are looking to corroborate what you tell them about your trip, and to look for blatantly illegal shit like underage b& porn, terrorist plots and threats, etc. Simply criticizing Trump shouldn’t get you refused. Ofc the standards are different if you are a returning US citizen or a foreigner.
>>20340 I installed Lineage on my Pixel 3 yesterday and it's like I have a new fucking phone. 24h+ battery life and the latest Android version with 0 bloat. Man, I don't understand what took me so long. Now that I'm using Windows and Linux at home, and macOS at work. It's so painfully evident how amateurish the mac OS really is. And saying that when comparing it to the piece of shit that Windows 11 is, that's really something. But it's true. You've got to be sleeping or blind to use Apple products.
>>21873 i just ordered a 3a to try out ubuntu touch myself any issues on lineage with volte? i know that's one thing ubuntu touch is still working on
>>23372 >ubuntu touch myself tee hee. Posted from GrapheneOS
