Which top fans should I get for the NR200P? The more I read online, there more it seems that every compatible 12cm fan is annoying and crappy in its own unique way. I have the stock ones, but I expect they won't be up to the task of exhausting from a system that shouldn't really be inside this small of a case without water.
Is all DDR4 compatible with all DDR4? I want to add ram to my device but I'm retarded
>>18219 I don't think it's recommended to mix modules if you care about speed. Ideally, you want the same kit (match SKU) for all ram modules.

It's insane they think anyone besides the most brain dead fanboys are willing to keep buying a new 300 dollar motherboard every year so they can use the new 600 dollar Ultra Shit 9 that's slower in gaming than a 5800x3d from 2022.
>>18219 Speeds and latency will have to be downgraded to the lowest setting all modules can handle at the same time but it will work. If you want the best chances of not having to lower your perfs, try getting the same SKU as your current one.
My newly built pc was noisy for a couple of days and now it's quiet. How did that happen
>>18523 The Noctua ninjas came in and fixed your noise while you were sleeping. More seriously, have you been writing lots of files to a HDD while it was noisy? Hard drives can be the loudest of a PC if you've got decent fans, but they can spin down if unused.

Exactly HOW do I calculate the appropriate VA / wattage rating for a UPS? I can't figure out where this magical Power Factor value is coming from, articles seem to like mentioning it a lot but not how to actually get it. Assuming my rig's max load (including monitor) may be 350-400w to be safe, what should I go for?
>>18681 Real output power is VA rating x power factor. Apparent power in VA is a reflection of how the phase offset between voltage and current introduced by a device causes the grid to dissipate more power than it would were they perfectly in phase. It won't matter for you since households don't get charged on that extra grid loss but corporations do pay extra if the overall power factor of their facilities strays away from 1. That why devices that are mainly intended for professional use display it.
Still hanging onto my 3060 12GB. Maybe I'll get a non-XT 9070 once I get a fucking job
Suddenly everyone is building a new PC during this shortage. Makes no sense.
So I installed a Dell PERC H830 raid card in my poweredge 730 server today and now it doesn't get internet through the wired connection? did I fuck something up? it's on the same riser as the NIC but the manual said this card was compatible and only one riser was the half size ones What did I do and how do I fix it?
Reminder that you should expect to spend as much on a display as you do on your GPU.
>>18802 It's not a shortage outside of the US. Maybe if you're willing to become a dirty s*x tour*st then you can pick up hardware somewhere.

Does it make sense to upgrade to a 5700x3d now for 200~250 euros? Specs >Ryzen 3600 >Noctua NH-U14S >MSI B450 GAMING PLUS >4x8 DDR4 CL16 3600 MHz >RTX 5070Ti >Corsair RM750 Uses >Gaming 1440p 60-180hz >Photoshop >Some video editing and encoding >A lot of multitasking
>>18886 It makes sense if you absolutely must stay on AM4, a 5700x3d is never a bad investment in a vacuum. Your GPU is clearly where most of your recent paychecks went. Otherwise it would be better to do a full overhaul.
>>18890 I don't *absolutely* must stay on AM4 but it'd be nice to squeeze it for a few more years. To get an AM5 CPU and upgrading the rest of my rig I'd be looking at more than double the expense, for a 10-20% upgrade plus being able to get an even newer CPU later on. >7800x3d 350~400€ >AM5 motherboard 100€ min. >32gb DDR5 100€ min. >possibly have to get a different mount for my heatsink >Your GPU is clearly where most of your recent paychecks went. Yeah. I went overbudget with the GPU as I'm making some money with it, it was an investment that finished paying itself off, but I can't apply the same reasoning to upgrading the rest of my rig. In conclusion I don't think it's worth upgrading my whole rig just yet with the current prices and performance gains. Sorry if it sounds like I'd already made up my mind, but I only did research on AM5 prices after making the request post.
>>18886 >32gb RAM >photoshop If you're a heavy photoshop user, you'd probably benefit greatly from doubling that. At least for me, working with large files to print, 64gb RAM is the minimum I can stand. Once a project's undo history grows, that RAM disappears fast. Especially combined with multitasking. Thankfully RAM is cheap.
>>18808 sorry to bump but I urgently need a fix for this
>>18859 Why buy a new GPU to play at 1280x1024? If your CRT is fine, your 8800 GTX is fine as well.

>>19135 Honestly things are fine so far, markets take a while to correct, but boomers do go fucking insane at the first sign of trouble - when gas prices started hiking after the dip in covid I got to watch a 50 year old with a pickup truck fill his truck bed with gas, he spilled it everywhere so I told the lady and she said it was the third time that day

>>20473 you immigrants will be going home one day and we will just take the resources.
>>19146 they’re renewing the push for the one world government where there are no costs involved in shipping. globalisation has been a complete disaster but a new world order will fix it.
>>19145 >HYTE >we cant sell at msrp they literally set their own msrp if they’re the manufacturer lmfao. this is all smoke and mirrors. there is no way it costs $80 to build a case from scratch. it costs about $10 with material and labour per case and they sell them for $100+ they’re properly lying.
>>20471 If you're doing that then skip the b-dies It's not the same since every primary, secondary and tertiary timing on b-dies scale with voltage
>>20479 >they’re the manufacturer They aren't. They're the contractor to a manufacturer that does a bunch of other cases too. Nevermind that the tariffs aren't just on the finished goods, but also the raw materials and components as well.
>>20480 >its not the same that sucks. i asked the same question on 4chan and gpt pretty much the same answer. im livid that intel fuck us with cpu die lga1200 while amd have like 30 different cpus you can stick in an am5 r am4 socket. >>19145 how many cases could you mould with just 1 sheet of steel? i really dont think these companies are being honest about tariffs. yes, you have to order 28ton but if you make cases you need it.
>>20482 Who is folding that steel into the case? Where is the plant that does that located? What is the cost of employing the people in that factory? What is the cost of getting the finished case from wherever it was made to where you want to sell it? You're looking at a video that went over all those topics and going, uh sheet steel is cheap, why case not cheap?
>>20484 im showing an example of the main component. if you can make 10,000 cases with 28 ton(example) the profit margin is massive. they sell a whole case for the price of almost 1 ton. its like a coffee shop selling nescafe and co plaining that they have to pay 10 per jar when they make their profit after selling 2 cups of coffee.
>>20486 >if you can make 10,000 cases with 28 ton(example) the profit margin is massive >assuming that's the right kind of steel >assuming the cost of manufacturing and shipping are completely different from what they are >assuming the case factory you want to use is inside the country already >ignoring all the other parts of the case that are not the sheet metal Go ahead, buy the cheap 28 tons of steel(unvetted btw, good luck with china great value steel) and find the american factory up and ready to make your supreme margin cases.
>>20487 >if you dont make pc cases you cant talk about the costs why r u so ready to believe these companies are being honest? >good luck with china great value steel where do you think they get their steel/aluminium from? everything is being done in china, except HYTE who dont use American metals for some reason.
>>20488 >all china steel is equal >vetting raw materials and finished goods isn't the number one job for companies working with China >having no idea what you're talking about makes your spitball suggestions valid
>>20488 >why r u so ready to believe these companies are being honest? Because if they were being dishonest, you would be taking advantage of the situation to sell all-American, or someone much more competent than you would. But nobody is, not even a single one. Because they are not lying and you are just used living a spoiled life surrounded with cheap goods. >everything is being done in china Just keep in mind that you are 100% correct. The low end great value steel is mined and made in China, the high end quality steel is also mined and made in China for a higher price. You might be able to buy American, but you will pay 10 times the latter and you will still need to ship the steel to where there are factories to bend it into a case (American ones don't exist). Then you will have a metal box with nothing in it, so repeat the steps and calculations for everything else.

I am seriously considering applying some of my spare MX-4. It's not blocking any vents, there aren't any on this solid hunk of plastic. PSU cable isn't long enough to put it in a cooler place and/or on the floor.
Didn't really know where else to ask I got a Gigabyte Gaming OC 9070 XT. I've never fucked around with GPU tuning before, but I wanted to get similar to stock performance at lower power draw so I've been playing around with it for the past few hours. I ended up with (under load): >Frequency offset untouched >-70mV undervolt (down to 0.8V) >-17% Power Limit (now peaks at 274W) >2714MHz VRAM clock (up from 2518MHz) >Average Temps: Core 58C, Hot Spot 77C, VRAM 83C Currently stable at everything I've thrown at it so far from games to stress tests. Long term how does this look? Just seeing if I did something retarded or not.
>>20708 >Long term how does this look? Just seeing if I did something retarded or not. Using less power and running cooler can't be a bad thing. The worst that could happen is it's not as stable as you thought and you get a crash on a game you haven't tested yet.
>>20708 There are no PC components that will blow up because you supplied them less energy than they normally want. We'll except I guess for writing to storage, but that's soft damage and not permanent hardware failure.

>>20909 i got a 7800 xt recently for a good price, people were saying its retarded to buy them but cheapest alternatives were starting from 200 euros more minimum
>>20919 How's it looking for ddr5 and the current am5 generation Does it look like they'll last a decent while longer that a long term investment in a current motherboard I currently have a previous generation motherboard ddr4 am4 chipset I also have a 4070s gpu which I won't need to upgrade for with the current rate of progress at least 5 to 10 years
>>20945 Well it looks good. Sinde ddr6 isnt out yet, ddr5 is the only option. I have an 3600x with ddr4 still rocking. Basically get good ram, a nice b650e board and you are good to go for the next 5+ years. Especially with x3d processors. Like usual first batch of ddr6 will be "slow" so you may skip the early adopter crap as a whole. Tl;dr. Get nice ram, a b650e motherboard for less than 220 bucks and you are good to go.
>>20950 >>20945 Why should I get DDR5 or DDR6 over keeping my cheap DDR4?
>>20950 Ddr5 is in a good place now. We have low latency kits like 6000cl28 and cl26 available already and higher density 2x64gb kits are also being released. A new generation of ddr always sucks compared to the previous mature ddr like how it took ddr5 12-18 months for 6400cl32 kits to finally be cheaper than good 3600cl16 kits
>>20952 Unless you have dual rank 3200mgz 4x8gb or 2x16gb or better sticks, ddr4 has really poor performance compared to any 6000cl30 2x16gb kits out there

I've been feeling like my card has been consistently underperforming in every single game I tested it on for almost a year now, my wife kept insisting it was all in my head and so I finally got around to checking it with gpuz and saw this shit. Left is my card, right is founder's edition. I have a three year warranty should I rma?
>>20991 Seems to be driver related anon
>>20993 I've tried just about ever driver out there with same results.
>>20991 Right seems to be overclocked so their numbers are not stock values. Anyway that doesn't preclude your specific 4080S from having problems that cause bad performance
>>20991 How did you figure out it was underperforming? Like it doesn't boost to 2.7ghz or it underperforms greatly in 3dmark or what?
>>21005 I'd look up benchmarking videos of people playing the same exact game on the same exact setup. Most recent example is the oblivion remaster, everyone else seems to be able to get stable 60fps on dlss quality without framegen and I'm only getting something like 45fps in the same situations with the same cpu, with dlss in performance mode, still needing framegen to ensure it never drops below 60.
>>21009 Its just nuts to me when I watch my wife gets consistently better performance on the same game at 1440p with raytracing maxxed out on fsr quality no framegen when I specifically went out of my way buy a 4080 super over the 7900xtx for the better raytracing performance. My card should be 720p path tracing future proofed, and I sacrificed vram I could've utilized for better vr performance for this? Infuriating. Both our systems have an 7800x3d chip. Though our motherboards are different make. Mine is a msi b650 gaming plus wifi 7e26. Bios is properly updated along with chipset drivers. I've tried multiple different versions of nvidia drivers at this point with proper cleanup each time. I truly regret not just getting the 7900xtx at this point on every conceivable level because at least if my system was amd based I could finally tell microsoft to kill themselves and return to linux. But I can't even do that because nvidia support is absolute dogshit to the point where I'm literally better off fucking passing through the gpu to a windows vm. Holy fuck.

Anons, I would love if you could help me out with this build, it's my first one ever and I'm a super retard, could anyone help me see if this is a good build? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7rmg4p I picked the 9070 XT since it's a bit cheaper than the RTX 5080, I just want it to run 4K games at max settings with stable 60+FPS, and the other resolutions well... a stable 120+, from my research from various places I managed to put that build, but I want to know how is it? And in the due case I don't find a 9070 XT what are my other options? I would love to get a 5080 but well... they are rather spread out and I don't know a reliable site to buy them aside from Amazon, and NewEgg I never tried it before, any help to this poor retarded anon? My budget is 2500 but I can squeeze a bit more, but if I can downgrade some other parts then I would appreciate it, my use is gaming and I'm from Mexico mis amigos

>>21028 sovl
>>21069 9070xt at that price is totally not worth it. Could you get a 5070ti instead? Dlss is also more performant at the same image quality as fsr4 and it's also found in much more games
>>21069 >https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-windforce-gv-n507twf3-16gd-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5070-ti-16gb-gddr7/p/N82E16814932781 Get this 5070ti for $825 instead. Newegg has been ok over the several years I've used them despite other people's complaints. The 5070ti is also about 90% as fast as a 5080 and the same 16gb vram so its a much better buy.
>>21080 I don't know, I just want something cool that would last me for years, and if I can afford it, then I would love to get it, but if you recommend me those cards then I guess it's good, how do they compare to the 9070 XT or the 5070ti? >>21135 I would love to play with DLSS but since I have an AMD CPU in mind I won't be able to enjoy the full benefits right? Like that SAM thing anons mention, and I feel like Intel is a bit overpriced, but I heard good things of FSR 4 so if it's a sweet spot I'll take it, the thing is I feel like all NVIDIA cards are rather scarce, so to find a trusty one will be hard... that's why I go with the 9070 XT, but maybe if on October/November when I buy the parts, the NVIDIA cards will get in stock then I might get a 5070 ti or if I can squeeze just a bit more then the 5080 >>21142 Hmm, then if you say the 5070ti is about the same as the 5080 then I might get it, then I'll keep an eye out for this one in particular, I'll still be on the fence till the end of the year and save my money... then dump it all on my first built PC, I'll put my faith in Newegg then
>>21069 >>21146 DLSS is pretty cpu agnostic as long as you have a 6+ core modern cpu. SAM is a bandaid for radeon's driver/uarch inefficiency to perform at nvidia's level and requires an amd cpu to work well. FSR4 is pretty good but the only issue with it is that its too new to be mass adopted the slightly worse DLSS3 already being in 100s of games.
>>21146 >9070 XT or the 5070ti? not good at at. 7700 is at best a 5060ti competitor but without fsr4/dlss and 7900gre is a slower 9070xt without fsr4/dlss
>>21166 >>21146 I mean the 7700x AMD CPU I'm not up to date at all after that generation, it does however seem like graphics requirements isn't accelerating in game releases. In general I would say don't go crazy on CPU it isn't going to be fully utilized in vidya because GPU throttles first every time. Also you don't need 64gb RAM if you're just playing vidya 32 is fine. Also I know power on that site list is within 100w, but if you're getting a PSU with a 10 year warranty anyway (most PSU's but definitely double check. If Corsair doesn't offer it get Super Flower or Seasonic) I'd go 850w to improve likelihood of reuse in the next build. Tape on the receipt and forget about it. Was 4000->5000 Nvidia a very big improvement? Are the costs comparable? Oblivion/Helldivers/BG3/Cyb2077 on high all resulted in 45-50~ FPS on 1440p I have a 2080ti, it was enough for me I guess.
