There's a reason this site and other imageboards aren't more active, there really weren't that many people on 4chan, most of the posts you saw were made by bots or people just spamming. Part of being on smaller forums like this one and getting off shitty social media sites and the like is accepting that things are gonna be slower, and that's okay because that usually means quality over quantity, plus it means you'll have more time to do actually fun stuff. Go to an imageboard, post something, then close it and go do something fun, whether that's taking a walk outside or playing vidya, then come back later and there will probably be a reply or two, and I'm nostalgiafagging but that's how message boards used to be and that's how they're supposed to be, in my opinion.

There's nothing wrong with 4chan's code, it's fast and simple, it is based on some code that technically wasn't really closed either. There are many things wrong with 4chan that 8chan gets right, the moderation, spam filtering and millions of bans and rangebans, cloudflare, the captchas and wait timer, many board rules. .moe still sometimes can get some idiot in charge of a board and set dumb rules, but it's not anywhere near as bad as 4chan's. People will probably go back, but consider how incompetent they must be for their site to still be down to this day.
