3 + 3 monitor setup Anonymous 04/26/2025 (Sat) 00:11:18 No. 21127 >>21197>>21221
Guys I want to have a 3 + 3 monitor setup eventually (so I can get external devices in same field of view as my system monitors), but I haven't got the slightest idea how am I supposed to get the 4th monitor in the middle. The table is close to a wall, and behind the middle monitor there's no gaps/holes in the table for a clamp table mount or whatever. However to both sides of the table (left and right) there are circular holes, where if I had a large arm mount, I could probably have 1 or 2 (either side or both) to support the middle monitor (or even 3 if it's big mount from both sides, idk). Other option is that I would have to drill holes on the wall. I haven't got clue about the table arm mounts or whatever, but how hard would it be to pull it off with them alone (when they're coming from sides)? If it works I wouldn't need to drill holes to wall.
>>21127 (OP) No. Those setup are unequivocally retarded. You need one (1) screen. That's all. Anything more than that is bloat. If you *really* need to work on several computers at once, then you virtualize/remote into/KVM them. There's only a handful of hedgecase where you would have to use several screen at once. Like people working on legacy hardware, or airgapped networks. And even then, they rarely need more then two screens, anyway. If you really want to waste money that much, then buy a bigger desk. That way you'll be able to setup a bigger screen. (as a rule of thumb, for a 16:9, you need a desk as deep as your screen's diagonal size)
>>21197 KVMs are expensive
>>21197 2 monitors is the sweet spot for work. You can have your browser/documentation open on one monitor while working on the other. More than that is actually bloat though.

>>21127 (OP) This setup is incredibly retarded. 1080p in 2025 makes no sense. Get some 27'' 4k displays. That is 12 1080p displays at 100% scaling for likely 1/10th of the hassle. I recommend getting monitor arms as well.
>>21206 Yeah. I was being kind of hypocritical here, I guess. I'm technically using second display too, because I have a drawing pad. But at work, I have actually unplugged my second monitor. And replaced it with the PIP/PBP function of my main screen. (they recently outfitted us with ultrawide 1440p 34")
>>21221 I currently have 3x 1080p setup, and for me it seems to work perfectly, there's no scaling issues with applications (since some software or stuff don't scale well with higher PPI/DPIs), I just need the 1 or 3 monitors on top row for external sources, because then I could keep all monitors within my field of view. Problem is that directly behind the middle monitor there's no place on the table to attach clamp mount on the table (since there's some "side wall" under the table that prevents doing it, only with the 2 holes on the sides could do it with some long ass arms).
bump. If I buy a table clamp mount that's has long enough arm and is sturdy make, it should be good enough for one 23-24" monitor, right? That way I could have 1 monitor above my middle monitor, that would be used for game consoles and stuff.
>>21638 Once you go 4k you never go back. With 3 4k monitors you have so much real estate. For me, my left monitor is just vim (so many buffers), my center monitor is a game / youtube / or teams (if I'm presenting in a meeting) and my right monitor is 2-3 web browser windows. Its very hard to reproduce that on 1080p, especially when its normal for me to have 8 terminals + 4 files open on my left monitor all visible at the same time. Not saying this applies to you, but I'm speaking from experience.
