Highlights include Kutaka's theme, as well as the Yuuma themes. And the sprites look very nice. The gameplay isn't too great though, and it kind of spoils the game for me. I end up just quickly mashing buttons, trying to pull off moves and do damage, even though the game seems to want to emphasize dodging with precise movements. This is especially apparent with the final boss. Is this a common sentiment, or do I just have to get good?

I dunno if Earthlight Ray is a reference to Rumia's Moonlight Ray spellcard. Tewi has a surprisingly difficult pattern to dodge. I should prolly try 2hu 7.5 before I move on to 2hu 9.

Healthy Patchouli isn't messing around, I bombed all her spell cards to make sure I made it to Flan with enough lives. Flan is an absolute nightmare, especially with Reimu A. In her first spell card, the homing amulets don't track her down, so I had to aim manually. Even with all the shit I had to do to maximize survivability, like the Starbow Break safe spot, I barely made it with only 2 bombs left at the end. At least I got to see Flan's clothes get torn apart .

Make sure to capture Sakuya's midboss spell card to get an extra life. Stage 5s are often 1CC enders, but 2hu 6 stage 5 becomes one of the easier stage 5s once you learn about the safespot and timeout.

Sure I can try to bomb them as Patchouli's HP is relatively small but that's side stepping the issue and leaves me naked for Sakuya's stage and her pseudotracking in the midstage boss period.The actual fight I can deal with some lost lives, but the mid stage boss fight just coats the screen in kunai and knives and the gaps become increasingly smaller if you don't bait her properly.

Ninigi taking Sakuyahime instead of Iwanagahime is said to be the reason why human lives are short and fleeting, like sakura blossoms, rather than enduring and long-lasting. Back to the present, Sakuyahime and Iwanagahime were intrinsically tied to Mokou's backstory. A long time ago, the Emperor ordered a retainer, Tsuki no Iwakasa, to dispose of a batch of Hourai Elixir. He was given an entourage of guards and ordered to set forth to Mount Fuji and toss the Hourai into its' volcanic flame. Mokou somehow was able to accompany them. On top of Mount Fuji, Sakuyahime appeared before Iwakasa and his men and Mokou and warned them not to throw the Hourai into Fuji, for it would cause Fuji to become active again. They spent the night on the mountain, but Sakuyahime awoke Mokou and Iwakasa and claimed that the men had started killing each other over the elixir, although Mokou speculated that she thought Sakuyahime had killed them herself. Sakuyahime directed them toward Iwanagahime on Yatsugatake, which was more equipped to deal with the Hourai Elixir. Presumably, Mokou killed Iwakasa on the way down to steal the Hourai Elixir, as there were no more guards left. From canon mentions, Mokou notes that one day she wants to travel to the top of Youkai Mountain, presumably to pray to Iwanagahime and to apologize to her for what she did to Iwakasa. Again, the Youkai Mountain of Gensokyo is connected to Yatsugatake, where the goddess resides. If Iwanaga is to make an appearance, the setting should be near Youkai Mountain or within its' bowels and underground. More lore for Mokoufags out there.

As a pretty big fan of SMT games I think it does a stellar job at replicating the old-school titles without going all-out with the annoyances. So many pitfalls, teleporters and invisible rooms in those ones. ADiA has those too, but I find that the only real problem is the post-game areas which are supposed to be intense.

I haven't even played every single Touhou game, yet I have a 1cc in 6, and abused save states to do the same in 3, 4, 5 and maybe 2 I forget. (Normal, not Hard/Lunatic.) I at least want to do 5 legit sometime. There's something about the old style that appeals to me, but the first two games are really not what I'd call enjoyable. 4 and 5 are about on par with 6, I think.
