I'd like to ask, what are the best Kung Fu / Martial Arts movies that you know of? Also what are the best Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Bruce Lee movies?
>>1931 >what are the best Kung Fu / Martial Arts movies that you know of? That's a really broad question and a little hard to answer. My personal ones by region: >HK/Taiwan One Armed Boxer & Master of the Flying Guillotine, Deadly Silver Spear, the One Armed Swordsman movies (in fact I've yet to find anything starring Jimmy Wang Yu that I dislike), Invincible Armor, Eagles Claw, Shaolin Invincible Sticks, Flying Guillotine, Born Invincible, The two original Bronzemen movies for the Bronzemen sections of those movies, Shaolin Red Master, Secret Shaolin Kung Fu. That's probably a good start. I could probably come up with some more. >Western Blood Sport, Big Trouble in Little China, Mortal Kombat (90s version), the "Ninja Trilogy are not "good" films but they're really fun, Double Dragon is the Jojolion of western martial arts movies (lots of buildup but nothing happens by the end) but I'm fond of it, The Last Dragon >Nip Basically any of the serious samurai movies by Kurosawa (such as Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Ran, Kagemusha, Throne of Blood) or similar films by other directors (Harakiri, Onibaba, the 2 Lady Snowblood movies, the Zatoichi movies, Samurai Rebellion, etc.) Probably not exactly what you're asking about. >Jackie Chan I'm really not much of a fan of Jackie Chan, mostly because his martial arts movies all seem to share my least favorite trope of the "comedy introduction" where the protagonist spends the first 25-30 minutes acting like a fucktard before the evil white haired guy comes out and kills everyone and he's forced to get serious. Chans best movies are from his Police Story era. I'd say start with those. >Jet Li In all honesty I've not had the opportunity to see a Jet Li movie all the way through so I can't comment. The ones I have seen are the post Hollywood ones too so I don't have a complete picture anyway. I think both of us should check out his Hong Kong era films.

Hey blam if you see this post, see if you can find a copy of this movie I've just become aware of. Devil Fighter (1969) https://hkmdb.com/db/movies/view.mhtml?id=11260&complete_credits=1&display_set=big5 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1779851/ This may be a near to impossible task since it has reputation of being a lost film, but it might simply be more of a "missing film" and it's just not circulated anywhere in the west. Something to keep an eye out for.

Post and talk about your favorites here. Try to keep it about pre 2000 movies because horror movies from the 21st Century are almost universally awful. Hell even mid 90's were pushing it.

I'm trying to keep track of which Hammer Horror movies we've watched so far. (I've intentionally left off the Quartermass and the prehistoric movies because those are more Scifi than horror. Also the post was getting rather long.) Is this list about right? Dracula <Horror of Dracula <The Brides of Dracula <Dracula: Prince of Darkness >Dracula Has Risen from the Grave >Taste the Blood of Dracula >Scars of Dracula >Dracula A.D. 1972 >The Satanic Rites of Dracula >The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires Frankenstein >The Curse of Frankenstein

Your favorite western movie? and why? Favorite director? Favorite character? Who is the most beautiful actress who has ever acted in a western movie?
>>2247 >My Name Is Nobody >Tonino Valerii >Nobody
>>2247 I've watched a number of westerns, but I wouldn't consider myself a western connoisseur by any stretch. >favorite western movie? and why? Difficult to pick a favorite, but Once Upon a Time in the West is up there. While the Dollars trilogy is likely more popular among the general populace (I'm looking at you, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly), Leone's later film really cemented everything he had learned and he put his soul into that movie. Plus Charles Bronson is awesome. High Noon is also another classic - really drives the cowardice of people forward. I'd highly recommend it. Hud's also a disillusioned western that's quite dark. Another interesting one with Paul Newman. John Wayne's mega popular, but I haven't seen many of his westerns and the ones I saw were not my favorite (though the one played on the movie stream more recently was good). >Favorite director Sergio Leone is really the only one I've seen the most movies from. He does spaghetti westerns well, what can I say?

Japan is Remaking Cube Anonymous 02/02/2021 (Tue) 01:25:49 Id: 73afdc No. 331 [Reply]
Apparently the long rumored remake of Cube got shunted over to Japan. Given their history with torture porn films, this could either be a blessing or a total disaster. Either way, I think I'll have to watch it. Source: https://archive.vn/lO0Fm It's coming out this year, too, so it may have already been filmed.

JJ made buffy and clearly should be for TV instead of film, as his structure for story telling works better with TV like he did with Lost than anything short term. Purely so he can not reveal any mystery boxes he opens up until the finale. Ryan Reynolds on the other hand mostly plays himself in everything. >>1361 A big part of this is superhero films forced a lot of his time in recent times. Before that he was working on thrillers
>>1357 But he appeared in Fortnite to personally advertise The Rise of Skywalker and also to play a message from the movie not heard in the movie, only in Fortnite.

who likes ghostface from scream? Anonymous 07/16/2022 (Sat) 14:36:43 Id: 415e00 No. 1379 [Reply]

WHASSUUUUUP?
>>1379 I like the original Scream and Scary Movie. Scream 2 was bad, and the series took a nosedive from there. If you like the original Scream, watch Urban Legend. As far as I know, the director for it was passed up after the studio secured Craven for Scream.
I like the first one. Scream is much better at the time it came out when it was one of the only satires. Every other piece of media is trying to be like Scream with how meta it is, which made it lose it's main identity. I think that is why the more recent scream movie that came out tried to be more serious, since sincerity has been lost with modern media. It's always trying to be normalfag enough so people watch it but away from the crowd. Hopefully the next film is more gory/intense. Ghostface himself really depends on the killer using the mask. Before it became well known, the mask was a normal mask which had a level of realism. It's sort of lost due to how popular scream got, but it's a nice element.

>>86 Phantom of the Paradise is ingenious. I love how Paul Williams takes Winslow's "Faust" and makes a bubble-gum-pop version with "Upholstery". I often break out from "Upholstery" into "Faust" because of that chorus. https://www.yewtu.be/watch?v=dJcH1bj53aE Oliver! from 1968 is a great musical. "Who Will Buy?" has been stuck in my head ever since I watched it, but every number seems to fit into the film well. Not to mention the choreography is wicked good. https://www.yewtu.be/watch?v=XihLS-jA_Dg Another great musical is "The Music Man". Please, if you watch a film adaptation, watch the 1962 one with Robert Preston. The one with Matthew Broderick is a clear example of shoving a falling star into a film to hopefully sell a few tickets. My personal favourite is "Gary, Indiana", but every song is memorable.
Anything Vangelis worked on is timeless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWqaJElyqAo
