I fell asleep immediately after Pippa's stream yesterday (which was amazing) so I'm only now seeing her tweet about her PC issue and that to me looks like the GPU might be done. Now to be fair artefacting of any kind and glitches historically and in my personal experience mean that the GPU is the issue and that it's crapping out, though it doesn't look like that. The other option is these new dogshit drivers on new dogshit Windows are just utterly broken.
This is absurd if true. It's all absurd. Technology is actually regressing into this shoddy haphazard bullshit that barely works and I can't understand how people put up with this anymore. As far as I see it it all peaked in the Windows XP era and afterwards all the actual experienced programmers and people who actually knew what the fuck to do and how to do it either aged out or just got replaced. The constant barrage of crap all chuubas tend to have with their setups, be it laptops or desktops, is just insane. I concede that streaming takes a lot of hardware power, but that's not an excuse. No optimization, shit code, complete absence of quality - this is what I see. Now I am on Linux and have been since XP and this fucker is godtier, but there's something fundamentally broken about modern software and modern hardware and it all amounts to a big pile of shit in the end. Despite my affection for Linux Mint Xfce the actual best OS in looks and feel and everything was Windows 98SE, and i think that was the actual pinnacle of software engineering. It wasn't perfect but it had an actual philosophy and soul behind it, and it came through loud and clear. Unobtrusive, humble, a proper tool you make your own. After it we entered the shiny bauble era of design. Fuck "fruchtiger aero" or however zoomers decided it's called.
I mean shit, I feel nostalgia for Win 3.1 and fucking MS DOS. Yes I actually used both in recent years, it's not raw nostalgia. It's just that everything is shit now and AI will and is making it more shit.
This is my rant for the day I swear.
