Lurker here, visiting because this board made it to the top 5 very quickly. I see alot of generals here from /vg/. So a large part of /vg/ was simply gacha games? This is the first instance where I have felt a solid proof that a new board should exist, if/when 4chan returns. How much would /vg/ empty if a gatcha board was made?
>>24059 /vm/ should have always allowed both general and non-general threads for gachas. 4chan's mods are just retards and made it /v/ but for gacha instead (so, useless).
>>24447 Oh, that's right. I forgot /vm/ even existed. Never really saw the point in all those smaller /v/-related splinter boards. They all seemed to die off fairly after opening.
>>24582 *fairly quick
>>24059 Like all of the big /vg/ generals are gacha ones, only the ff14 one gets close to them >>24447 You mean /vmg/, /vm/ is (was?) the multiplayer board /vmg/ just turned into "totally-not-generals for slow threads that aren't fast enough for /vg/" lol
>>24059 vg was full of gacha threads
(316.04 KB 1822x476 blue archive vg.png)

>>24059 Perhaps
>>24059 why would you want 4chan to return? the rules were made for faggots <no racism, no trolling and the 4mb limit on videos was retarded
>>24059 >So a large part of /vg/ was simply gacha games? Yep. I though /vmg/ was for containing all those gacha game, but then mods went with "hurrrr no generals allowed". Never understood what was the point there.
>>24059 Gacha games should've gotten their own board on 4Chan years ago, if only because the jannies of /vg/ had no interest in actually moderating them. They were constantly being derailed and shitposted (often quite literally) and trying to report those people would often get you banned instead. This is a problem because gacha generals were always used more as chatrooms than forums, probably because many of these games lack good chat functionally, so bad actors made the threads unusable for regular participants who were trying to connect with and discuss the game with other players. As for how much /vg/ would empty if 4Chan got a /gacha/ board I can't say for sure, but it certainly would not have nearly as much traffic.
>>27490 Also moving general threads from /v/ to /vg/ also caused the side effect of /v/ becoming /b/ lite, it never quite recovered from that, but at times you could still get a good thread there if you were lucky.
>>24059 its argued that most of /vg/ just went to >>>/v/ because of generals and topical threads if you want /b/ style of shitposts and baiting got to >>>/vb/
>>24059 all my old generals have pretty much disappeared, either I was talking with normalfags all this time and they were just too dumb to check the archives or other chans to migrate or...gaming is dead...
>>24059 it was no secret you fucking retard
>>24059 It's was literally only gacha threads there.
>>24059 Get with the times, grandpa. No one plays boomer games anymore, gacha is the new generation of gaming.
>>24059 Gacha are live service games, which means they get constant drip-feed content. It's a type of game that lends itself very well to generals, and since they can last for years on end the general lasts a long time too, whereas something like the dragon age general dies out eventually. So natrually they gather up and force slower generals on other type of games out. And it's no secret that a lot of gacha-tards are the type of filth that posts religiously in generals as well. People without much else to do >>24059
>>28298 I found discussions on /v/ to be generally pretty good even in mediocre threads. Plus there was often a genshin thread that was actually about whatever new zone/character/event that was going on. And /v/ was better moderated than /vg/ by far.
>>24059 mobage threads have pushed out a lot of old and slower /vg/ generals out from the board it's criminal.
>>24794 despite that, there's a thread there that basically became a Chink outpost general accomodating NGA and Tiebaschizos. /vmg/ waas fairly moderated early on but I think the mods just gave up midway, or actively allowing and facilitating it themselves.
>So a large part of /vg/ was simply gacha games? A lot of gacha generals existed before they created options in /vmg/ where /vg/ was the only 'general' option. And originally /vmg/ had a no generals allowed rule, so even that wasn't an option until late last year or so. They didn't push gacha generals out of /vg/ and many of them were built up enough (and fast enough) to stick around on /vg/. Some had more activity than other more traditional game generals. Several games had a presence in both boards. >why didn't 4chan do the thing that makes the most sense in YEARS that this place did day 1? Because they're retarded. Recent events should have made that abundantly clear.

>>50639 rip /rsg/ it died last fall
>>50111 Never understood how some visual novels generals like doki doki and the crippled vn had some eternal general threads.
>>86228 Genuine autism and unhealthy obsession. And most of these generals also seem to evolve into a chatroom for those who stay. If they last long enough they might even become revived at times due to waves of people discovering the ip in cycles. From what I understand that is what all generals become if left alone without content. I've posted in 1 general where this kinda happened, but I checked out pretty quickly. I've checked the general after leaving out of curiosity and it is as I say, it's the same people starting to talk about whatever and avatarfagging.
>>50111 >People without much else to do That's just images board in general, moot originally created 4chan as a place to talk about anime because somethingawful only liked it "ironically" and hated anyone that actually enjoyed anime. Go take a look JP images boards some day, you'll be surprised on what you see.
>>52563 ;_; comp cape never
>>24059 It always made more sense to separate the gachas than to create several new boards for genres with no generals allowed, and this feels like proof beyond a shadow of a doubt. They won't just admit it and do the same though. I hope the exodus here is permanent because even if posting features were to get improved on 4chan, IDs get added, etc, there's still going to be severely out of touch moderation and administration (omitting all their other problems).
