OPERATION MAX REVIVE Rebuild the board's userbase and activity through simple, but effective methods 1. Post across the entire board Activity creates activity. Use threads you like, make new ones if topics don't exist. Easy examples are Drawthreads and Friday Night threads, go request or draw something right now. 2. Recruit and recover lost or potential anons Use this site's OC and features to entice anons if necessary when recruiting, just inform that we are alive. Here's some sites and links with at least some confirmed anons that can be recruited again: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chotwheels https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SSAVCH https://steamcommunity.com/groups/video_games https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chmohun https://steamcommunity.com/groups/8chan_monster https://steamcommunity.com/groups/GoodLuckEbolaChan https://steamcommunity.com/search/groups/#text=8ch.net https://steamcommunity.com/search/groups/#text=8chan Other sites that might yield fruitful results and have anons (art sites use an account so you can see 18+ content):
[Expand Post]https://www.deviantart.com/search?q=Vivian+James https://www.newgrounds.com/search/summary?suitabilities=etm&terms=Vivian%20James https://twitter.com/search?q=Vivian%20James&src=typed_query&f=image https://rpgcodex.net/ https://old.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/ Somewhere on Telegram Just searching up GG or 8chan-related terms on certain places/sites can get you possible results. 3. Make your own OC/Memes/Content Doesn't matter what it is even if its just simple edits or full-on drawings or webms, just make it and have fun. Ask in thread for software recs if necessary. 4. Encourage or create fun events, activities, projects, etc. Think things like 8chanmania, weekly streams, re-translation projects, demo days, or zzz's gaming magazine for example. If you want to do something, try making or reviving it, it can't hurt and these things are great for the board. 5. Use other boards All it takes for a board to grow is at least 2 dedicated anons using it. Don't be afraid to make a post, check places periodically, shill, or what have you. Don't force discussions to boards, just encourage the usage of them. 2. OPERATION TRAJAN: Collect and catalog all of the various localization and censorship accounts of past video games into a single repository from these sources: romhacking.net The_Cutting_Room_Floor/tcrf.net Segaretro.org https://redirect.invidious.io/channel/UCFItIX8SIs4zqhJCHpbeV1A Examples: http://archive.vn/XQOHW Sony's policies forces censorship; JP devs allegedly have to go through ENG approval process: https://archive.fo/awzFF - Japanese blog post about it: https://archive.fo/bF9bE Sony Japan President Says PS4 Censorship Policy Is To Match Global Standards And Protect Kids: https://archive.fo/U3GLa - Confirms censorship was deliberate: https://archive.fo/XgAgP - No rules for censorship policies, games judged case-by-case: https://archive.fo/37DhK - Marvelous partner starts petition against policy: https://archive.fo/rxQtf https://archive.fo/84UHo • Twitterfags: Tweet with Sony's stock code $SNE so that investors see your tweets and know you're pissed. • Consider spreading OP Timber materials to targets as well: http://archive.vn/URjtu ONGOING TASKS: A. After covid, I can officially say that I hate this country. July 4th is for niggers, faggots, and flag-waving retards. The government is nothing like it was intended to be. The people here are stupid, shitty, and dangerous. I wouldn’t lift a finger to help or protect any of it, ever. You can’t change my mind. Should’ve been loli themed.

>>853572 Wasn't Indivisible a complete failure that never fulfilled it's Kickstarter promises of cameo characters? I heard the game already had problems with balance but on the later half it gets so bad that all fights are basically just dps checks since most of the characters are underpowered and unbalanced that you'll be stuck with most of the early game characters and the story is barely even there and doesn't even work like Dhar pretty much getting away with killing Ajna's father and it's hardly an issue ever brought up and him denying his sacking villages despite the fact at the start of the game he and his army burned a village down and killed the protags father as previously Mentioned.
<<853760 If you get the opportunity you should kill yourself.
>>313531 I can tell you this, I originally funded the Squigly campaign back on IndieGoGo, and when Indivisible was in development I was sent no less than four emails desperately begging for money for the new game. >>313526 There's an unironically not shit subreddit about data hoarding, they probably have that kind of ancient stuff
>>313533 Thanks, I'll take a look in a bit. I found out some group of old users submitted a bunch of old 4chan threads to Stanford that cover that era so once I get them downloaded I'm going to skim them. Not expecting a still-working download link but even names would help at this point.
>>313534 If you do so, please drop any useful or funny bits you come across in here.

Twitter trannies have amassed multiple PSAs to try to counter review bomb. And they can only do this because the game right now is on a massive sale. Funny enough, their playtimes in the reviews are even lower then the negative reviews. And this is all they have to show for it, the overall reviews still dropped down from "overwhelmingly positive" to "mostly positive"
>>313539 honestly took me some time to spot the difference between the two pictures(other than the number of reviews being bigger). most people are going to see the recent reviews are still negative and pass on it.
>>313539 I am reminded of those webms where a game on Steam like Fallout 4 had 'Mostly Positive' but then when then they scrolled down it was a bunch of thumbs down reviews. Recall a Might & Magic game also having that.

>>313539 >Went from 4.1K to 4.5K in less then a day. I'm impressed at how much they united so much antagonism by just catering to an increasingly unpopular demographic and being so stupid that not even a 90 percent off sale could've saved it. They've managed to piss off ignorant normalfags with the fury of a wild bush fire by being even more prudish than kike Z is what makes this funnier.
>>313540 The dispairty beetwen getting 4k recent negative reviews compared with a all time 23k is pretty absurd, i wonder if the negative reviews are yet pointing out that content show in the videos from the steam page got removed?

>>313546 Trannies live in a false-reality in multiple contexts: they want to think they have power because they samefag constantly to ampblfy their void beyond all reason, but this exists in places which can be botted to create a false-consensus of "everyone says" on gameable sites like twitter and reddit. However, when reality meets the road of actual purchases and reviews where someone has to buy the product, like with the failed boycott of Hogwarts Legacy, being a noisy minority with a bunch of fake +1s doesn't mean shit.
>>313523 It's the same guy.
>>313553 Stop being stupid.

>>313552 >However, when reality meets the road of actual purchases and reviews where someone has to buy the product, like with the failed boycott of Hogwarts Legacy, being a noisy minority with a bunch of fake +1s doesn't mean shit. Let's not forget the ones the said they'd boycott it but bought the game anyways like that one mod on resetera. These people lack constitutions and run on mindless consumerism without appreciating the value of what they have. They're FOMO brained shitstains that would dump the same shit they'd die on a hill for because attention even if it's shit means more to them than being sustainable and thriving.

>>313564 >I remember seeing it and all dlc at the time for $2 once. that might have been a humble bundle. (that's I ended up with a steam copy) I had the game on 360 when it came out. I stopped giving a shit about the game post konami drama and when they wouldn't put in any DLC characters I wanted. for fucks sake it was called "Skullgirls" why are you putting in random male characters in? I wanted D. Violet, (or Mrs. Victoria) and Venus. even back then the shills were screaming that I was trying to turn SG into a "porn game" and that would get it banned from xbox arcade and psn. even FGC cunts back then wanted the sex appeal toned down. that's probably why we ended up with wacky shit like "big band" has no sex appeal and as a virtue signal of diversity (every fighting game has to have at least one black dude or it won't sell in nigger land) >>313531 never fulfilled it's Kickstarter promises of cameo characters? Game was less then half finished when they put it out. I'm sure the plan was to dole out the rest of the game piecemeal via dlc but it sold like shit, so they had to abandon that and go back to well with skullgirls. could have have just done a second kick-starter for the other half of the game (like Double Fine got away with)

>>313582 I have nothing to contribute to current discussions, but I can post pics of Rally and May
>>313583 It's very good, but it was too lewd for mass distribution. For example: Literal porn with Minnie Mae, sucking off her BF right on the page, uncensored Mae uses herbal medicine to stunt her own growth which is why she looks 12. She does this because her bomb-expert boyfriend is an actual pedo and fucked her when she was working in a brothel at 14 Rally gets kidnapped by a sultry female sex trafficker with a "drugs and BDSM" kink and becomes part of said trafficker's yuri slave harem for six months, in lurid detail There's more than that too. Yoel Roth the communist jewish faggot from San Francisco is actually based, he was calling out their bullshit. Hamilton 68 was a Deep State U.S. government operation. It was funded by: * Alliance for Securing Democracy * German Marshall Fund Personnel included: * Clint Watts, former FBI counterintelligence official Hamilton 68's advisory board was: * Michael Chertoff * Toomas Ilves * David Krasmer * Bill Kristol * Mike McFaul, US ambassador to Russia 2012-2014 * Michael Morell, acting director of the CIA in 2011 and 2012-2013 * Ana Palacio, member of the State Council of Spain * John Podesta, chair of Hillary for America, was White House chief of staff to Bill Clinton Hamilton 68 pointed to their credentials and claimed to have used secret methods to acquire a secret list of Russian disinformation accounts. Twitter smelled bullshit and reverse-engineered Hamilton 68's list from their press releases. The accounts they targeted included: * Sonia Monsour, a survivor of the civil war in Lebanon * @Dave4FtMyers Dave Shestokas, former prosecutor in Cook County, author of "Constitutional Sound Bites" * Jacob Levich, some guy from Oregon. I think they may have mistaken him for a Jacob Levich from New York who wrote journal articles critical of the Gates Foundation. * @Holbornlolz Old Holborn, a British comic * @realDennisLynch Dennis Michael Lynch, a Newsmax talk show host * @unjoe Joe Lauria, editor of Consortium News There were 664 total people on the list. The google docs URL is down, I don't know if it's online. HotAir says the list included David Horowitz, a former communist who turned against the Left and runs the Discovering the Networks database. https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2023/01/27/twitter-files-15-twitter-knew-hamilton-68-a-media-source-for-russian-online-activity-was-bullst-n526815 #Gamergate relevancy: Hamilton 68 "was the source of hundreds if not thousands of mainstream print and TV news stories in the Trump years... They spent it all promoting communism, so they look for other funding sources in the form of taking bribes from Russia and China. https://archive.ph/0dbBQ Truth Cops: Leaked Documents Outline DHS’s Plans to Police Disinformation https://archive.ph/RfsaT https://theintercept.com/2022/10/31/social-media-disinformation-dhs/ Feds Ran ‘Cognitive Infrastructure’ Operations with Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia https://archive.ph/9vn8J https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/human-events-daily-with-jack-posobiec/id1585243541?i=1000584705814 DHS fulfilling its promise to continue policing 'disinformation' https://archive.ph/rFQcv https://www.wnd.com/2022/11/dhs-fulfilling-promise-continue-policing-disinformation/ DHS Censorship Lead Believes Big Tech Has ‘Moral Obligation’ To Suppress Populism, Advised Group Working With DNC To Censor Conservatives. https://archive.ph/cpbWo https://warroom.org/2022/11/02/dhs-censorship-lead-believes-big-tech-has-moral-obligation-to-suppress-populism/ DHS "misinformation & disinformation” committee leader labeled Hunter Biden's hard drive as "disinformation" that was "forged" by "foreign operatives" in a tweet 1 day after the story dropped in the @NYPost https://archive.ph/75KhX https://twitter.com/nataliegwinters/status/1587832802573275144 He runs William Morris Endeavor WME is one of the foundations funding Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation Born This Way Foundation is partnered with the Berkman Center's Kinder & Braver World Project run by Danah Boyd and John Palfrey Danah Boyd's doctoral advisor was Mimi ito Mimi Ito's political remix curator was Jonathan McIntosh Jonathan McIntosh was the writer for Anita Sarkeesian Anita Sarkeesian had nothing to do with Gamergate until she appeared on the front page of the New York Times as a victim of Gamergate harassment The New York Times board of directors included Mimi Ito's brother Joi Ito, which is exactly the kind of bullshit Gamergate was against Going back to the Berkman Center, DHS had them run a project on "hate speech" with the Islamic Society of North America which was founded by people very very close to al-Qaeda Nancy Pelosi hosted a fundraiser with one of the network's founders Jamal Barzinji As for Ari Emanuel, we can Kevin Bacon him into it but he might be a useful idiot middleman with too much money and power

>>313592 Been wanting to discuss this for a while, excuse me if it's already been covered but DEFINITIVE PROOF THAT JAPAN IS EMBRACING PC GAMING brought to you by an out of touch president of a JP kemono dev company. Yes, they're mostly on Steam. But that's reflective of PC gamers in general. Now Musk just has to kill $TWIT and Japan might be safe from globohomo seeping in for a bit. Not that them (re)adopting the PC as a platform (welcome back Nihei Falcom. just to give us...more Kuro no Kiseki, great) is a guarantee, but it is noteworthy and the Deck did have an impact, along with VTubers. Dunno if this should be a thread, I know the standards these days are awful low.

>>313602 Good, maybe there is hope yet for the survival of White people and Liberty.
>>313600 The old man is indeed out of touch, like all non-white old men. The fact that he thinks that game developers need to learn about (((services))) instead of games is proof of that. And it also show how much those old men get desperate when small studios creating games for fun sell way more than any GAS garbage.
>>853902 After shitting on the Switch, dismissing it as not part of their e-dick measuring contest against Sony, they're going to say this? Fuck off.
>>313603 >FNAF will be the highlight of Jason Blum's career. All the trending signs point to the five nights at Freddy's movie outperforming the majority of summer blockbusters and it's coming out in October. This might help kill the superhero fad and replace it with video game movies.
>>853902 >Kotick says that not releasing Call of Duty on the Switch was "bad judgement." This indicates that Activision did, at first, intend to bring Call of Duty on the Switch at launch, but Kotick decided against it once he saw the prototype. Kotick didn't think the Switch was going to be successful. Well good job there Bobby, the Switch was still a success without your shitty franchise backing it.
>>313606 >After shitting on the Switch, dismissing it as not part of their e-dick measuring contest against Sony, After getting in bed with Microsoft to turn call of duty into an Xbox exclusive!

>>313618 My cynicism says that they want to erase the Nazis so that they can start calling everything fascist, like they already do (and already do with racism and sexism). If they can steal common knowledge of what the Nazi regime looked like, and take that fire of knowledge to only experts, then they can begin to dictate to people what Nazism is (like the Catholic Church wanted the Bible in Latin so that they could dictate to people what was in it).

>>313619 >like the Catholic Church wanted the Bible in Latin so that they could dictate to people what was in it To be fair to the Papists, they had to deal with eradicating these nuts for centuries because of all the heresies they started, until the church was taken over by the Jesuits.
>>313622 >To be fair to the Papists To be fair to the Papists we also have to acknowledge 1) that lack of knowledge of what was actually in the Bible helped those nuts because people didn't know what bullshit smelled like, and 2) that once people started to be able to read the Bible themselves, those nuts multiplied like wildfire as everyone could now give a crackpot interpretation of the Bible. There is never enough gas for all these Jews.
>>853939 I doubt it would really matter. they would still complain that any female is being sexualized. >>313619 >the Catholic Church wanted the Bible in Latin so that they could dictate to people what was in it >Latin speakers wanted the Bible in Latin is now some conspiracy Anon are you retarded?
>>313625 It's not that they wanted it in latin, it's that they were opposed to it being translated to other languages as well. Both could be (and currently are) an option. Yes, things are always lost in translation, but is that worse than the vast majority of people being simply unable to read the most important writing in the history of time?

>>313624 What's up with the bizarre "stronk female" characterization and writing we see these days per ESG mandate, anyways? You can always tell because the examples they point to are gigantic unrelatable sociopaths. To contrast, I've always considered that Sara Chidouin from Your Turn to Die and Taylor Hebert from Parahumans to be examples of well-written, actually strong female protagonists with universal appeal who aren't known for their looks. Yet in the current climate they'd probably still be rejected by the crazies. Granted, Chidouin still has cursory aspects of those "stronk female girlbosses" (like selective and fleeting sociopathy) and Taylor is basically a gender-flip insert of the autist author, but they would still exceed (((modern standards))) in human relatability by 1) having male peers and 2) actually showing vulnerability and self-doubt, but being able to move and develop beyond them in the face of adversity. Those two criteria are so simple to have yet current authors swerve hard away from them for some reason. Why? I think Taylor in general would set them off hard because bullying from other women forms a huge crux of her character; displaying women picking on each other seems to be a big no-no for those types, even though it's reality.

>>313600 Thank goodness I am almost finished with that Western Game List, which has plenty of classic and now thanks to Steam easily accessible PC games. (No, I'm not the nigger that keeps spamming it in this thread) >>853902 Reminder that you cannot play a COD game as of right now, old or new, without a threat of your PC or console being bricked by hackers. Even if the game is "safe" it is still ruined by hackers and nothing will be done about it because the hackers hold the "key to the asylum" and can do whatever they want with the games, that's what happens when every single title uses the same fucking engine: Only one really needs to be cracked. Switch players missed out on nothing, especially since 8th and 7th gen Nintendo COD games were garbage and this gen would be no different.(I have a soft spot for COD4 on DS but only because I used to play that game alongside Metroid Prime Hunters and there wasn't a lot of competition for FPS games on the system other than those two)

The pride cult and women are against anything that makes men pay attention to something else. Their biggest fear is to be abandoned and ignored. But men are doing just that, and now creating replacements for human company so they (men) won't have to ever pay attention to women again. As for the pride cult, the whole world hates them now, and they are among the most suicidal, so they are already abandoned. And being ignored literally kills them.

However this is just in this first week of sales, you'll have to wait and see how many stick around, especially since DLC characters in fighting games are notoriously busted on purpose and the DLC for the game on sale is at least 4 to 5 times pricier per character. Other than that, I figure it's all the bottled up anger at the industry retroactively shitting up stuff considered "safe". KikeZ already kneeled to his SoCal masters in the past, but since the censorship was so minor and came from an actual original developer, most people against it were singled out by the crowd who just wanted to play videogames. It doesn't help that all English-speaking gaming publications also painted the people expressing their concerns and review bombing it as "the ones on the wrong side of history". I can tell you though that it's something that is only happening in Burger-led sites, as the ones in my own region either reported neutrally or sided with consumers.

The push more centralized hubs of information gathering came along the over commercialization of the internet as this big, ever present shopping mall. I don't have my Information Retrieval Systems slides on hand, but before Amazon/Ebay got really big, more than half of the traffic on the internet was either pornographic or informational. Child-Trafficking Drama ‘Sound of Freedom’ Opens to More Than $11 Million >With a rare Tuesday opening, “Sound of Freedom” (Angel Studios), a drama starring Jim Caviezel as a real-life rescuer of children from traffickers, grossed $11,563,200 — just under the day’s total for “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” (Disney), which played in almost 2,000 more theaters with just under $11.7 million. >Another difference: “Indiana Jones” often played on multiple screens. Based on theater spot-checks, “Freedom” played mostly single screens, often with smaller capacities, and saw sold-out shows. The result was a stark contrast in the films’ per-theater average: “Indiana” was about $2,543 in 4,600 theaters, while “Freedom” saw about $4,400 in 2,634 theaters. >“Freedom” is now distributed by the Provo, Utah-based Angel Studios, which specializes in “wholesome” content. (It offers the genres of Christian, comedy, drama, documentary, and kids’ shows.) >The opening, impressive under any conditions, was enhanced by group sales (with the additional marketing hook of elevating the initial gross) and by block sales to churches, with some reported to give away tickets to congregants. >In one day, “Freedom” grossed more the full domestic runs of recent awards contenders like “The Banshees of Inisherin,” “TAR,” and “Women Talking.” Its gross nearly doubles that of current independent hit “Past Lives” (A24). https://archive.ph/xsNsW Most popular indie movie in the USA ignored by Rotten Tomatoes banned from Metacritic. Hanlon's razor sounded good to you so you ran with it instead of bothering to see if it had any value at all, people like you won't learn unless it's spoonfed to you in a marketable meme format. Hanlon's razor has no useful meaning except to create useful idiots like you, and Occam's razor is quick to discard the existence of malice when the industry has shown nothing but contempt for its consumers when used inappropriately by fags like you. The mere existence of ESG and shareholders along with marketing and HR departments within these companies pretty much makes giving them any benefit of the doubt as a fool's errand.

'Sound of Freedom' becomes top grossing July 4th movie, beating out Indiana Jones >Angel Studios' "Sound of Freedom" took the top spot in sales July 4th, surpassing Disney's widely panned "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." >The action film starring Jim Caviezel is based on the true story of former federal agent Tim Ballard and his mission to save children from human trafficking. On its first day, the film took the number one spot at the box office, grossing over $14 million through "pay it forward" and direct box office sales. >The film has reportedly earned nearly all of its budget back on its opening day. "Sound of Freedom" beat "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" which played in nearly 2,000 more theaters had a reported budget of $295 million. >The franchise sequel took in $11 million and the second-place-slot on July 4. Thanks to fans around the country, SOUND OF FREEDOM earned the top spot as America’s number one movie on Independence Day," Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios announced in a press release. >Harmon touted the film's success on its opening day through the studio's unique crowdfunding and pay-it-forward model. We’ve received numerous messages telling us theaters are either packed or sold out. >This movie has now taken on a life of its own to become something more than that, a grassroots movement. With an A+ CinemaScore rating, we’re the top-rated movie in America, and we’re going to see word-of-mouth spread even further going into the weekend. >The world needs to see SOUND OF FREEDOM, and we know that our biggest competitive advantage—our incredible fans and investors—are going to make sure that happens." >Conversely, critics and fans skewered the latest installment of the "Indiana Jones" series as "weak" and "unfunny" with "woke" messaging that alienated its audience. Ballard, who founded his own independent child rescue operation known as Operation Underground Railroad, told Fox News Digital he wanted the movie to inspire people to get involved in the cause. He hopes the movie serves as a resource and an opportunity for viewers to "intervene" and end child trafficking. >The movie depicts a real-life rescue his organization conducted in October of 2014, he said "What you see in the movie ‘Sound of Freedom,’ that was based on a real-life operation called ‘Triple Take,’" OUR Rescue President and COO Matt Osborne, a former CIA agent, told Fox News Digital. >In October of 2014, in three cities in Colombia, in a one-hour time period, we helped Colombian authorities and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security rescue 123 trafficking victims – 55 of those were minors." >This isn't the first project by Utah-based Angel Studios that's outperformed expectations. "Tens of thousands" of fans crashed a movie theater website last January in their rush to purchase tickets for Biblical drama "The Chosen"'s season finale. >"His Only Son," based on the Old Testament story of Abraham and Isaac, also blew its budget out of the water grossing $12 million but taking just $250,000 to make, IndieWire reported. https://archive.ph/Ektkd Fun fact. Sounds of freedom was really suppose to be released by fox before the Disney buyout. Disney intentionally tried to scrub the movie. Now it’s beating Disney Indy 5.

>>313808 Not at all, you'd be playing a backport that has incompatible downgrades with the current game but would be great for fishing money as nostalgiabait. Every weapon has projectile falloff for shooting over a ledge, with hitscan the best you could do is effectively raise character hitboxes and shoot far above their heads at all times. Bullet travel time also plays a factor in this, you'd sacrifice other forms of player expression through weapon choice, and the best weapons would be based on fewer factors. If someone made the game it would be cool, but it would still be inferior.
>>313814 Nobody was arguing to make a de-make. The point was that modern tech hasn't allowed new forms of gameplay to emerge. If tech hadn't advanced post the release of the Gamecube or Xbox, the same games as today could still be made with only minor changes that the average player would barely notice or care about, mostly graphical. Even the things you're saying are miniscule. Wait, no, I'm wrong. If tech hadn't advanced, we might not have gotten paid horse armor and most of the other online cancer. Then again, the Xbox was already going whole hog into that domain, so fuck it. Tech should have stopped between the release of the Gamecube and the Xbox. Those two months in 2001 were the best it was gonna get. In fact, fuck the Gamecube. I'm fine with PS2. So stop four days before the release of the Gamecube. September 10, 2001. Now someone else came along with more money then you could ever give and wanted everything to be the inverse of what it was. The company doesn’t care. They never cared. They wanted giant sacks of money. Now they’ve cultivated a new audience of micro transactions and subscriptions and they’re making more money than they would ever have made before. >>313819 But by setting up the Indiana Jones franchise to be taken over by a woman and a mutt kid, they received a guaranteed billion dollar investment contract over the course of the next ten years. That’s 3 times as much as the production cost.
>>313820 Do you have actual proof of this contract or are you just talking out your ass? At least give a past example of such a contract to prove your point. The current Indiana Jones movie is massively unprofitable and will probably tank any future projects the people involved try to get hired for, as well as killing the brand for good this time. The movie is also causing the franchise reputation to get tarnished as well which means lessened merch sales and in turn less long term profits. I'm sure there are execs that care more about the short term than the long term and will just golden parachute out of there when the company goes under, but to say that there's enough money in some shadow contract that got them more money than full profits, merch, and good resume filler for further jobs that would've come from a good movie? I don't buy it.
>>313821 >but to say that there's enough money in some shadow contract that got them more money than full profits, merch, and good resume filler for further jobs that would've come from a good movie? I don't buy it. Anon, you do realize that such money does exist, and is required to exist by law, right? It's called your retirement. What the Hell do you think that money does for the 40, I mean, 50 years you waste at a job?
>>313818 I don't care. Shooter games already dominated the early 2000s. The gameplay was almost exactly the same as today. I was impressed by HD when it became the new big thing, but after investing in a 1080p TV, I soon realized that I could have gotten 720 and would barely notice the difference. And it's not like those PS2 games aren't good. It's just a graphical upgrade. Yes, there is more information on screen. I already had enough info though. At least I could obviously notice the difference between 480 and 720. But 1080 and higher are barely even noticable, and even 720 isn't needed for anything except for tiny text, which I don't want in my vidya anyway.
>>313822 It goes directly to pay for people who are already retired. Do you not know how the system works? All American welfare will be 100% bankrupt before the end of this decade. None of it will be funded, and all of it will have to be cut. It's overspent and has been for decades. No one paying into the system right now will see a cent of their "retirement fund" unless they retire within the next three to five years, and even then it won't last very long.
>>313822 I didn't ask if the money is out there, I know ESG gets it's funding from a portion of Social Security shit, same for a ton of other investment groups. I asked for proof of such exorbitant payouts that would make up for the money lost from the medium to long term profits from a good product's ticket sales and merch sales. This movie would have had to made 500 to 700 million, depending on marketing budget, just to break even, and a respectable ROI would mean it'd need to make over 1bil in profits, and merch sales would help too of course. You're telling me that some investment contract paid out the billions to cover this and the several other yidsney flops for this fiscal year and also make up the losses on merch and related shite like park ticket sales? And you expect me to believe that without any evidence, direct or indirect, of these deals?
>>313825 I should word it more clearly, I know these ESG investments exist and am not denying that, I just don't believe these damn things could be paying out so much as to cover for all these losses and venturing into the red on so many projects.
>>313816 > go touch grass >>>/shitter/
>>313821 Imagine demanding someone to publicly post what you yourself describe as a “secret shadow contract”. You want to talk about “delusional” pal, it’s you. ESG scores don’t even work that way, you massive retard. They’re a score assigned to a company by investing conglomerates to dictate the flow of pension funds and other personal investing accounts. There are no boardroom deals, there are no phone calls. You have a score and you are told what you can do to improve your investing score. Disney has improved their score over the last year and because of that they’ve received $376.5 million dollars of investments so far from the Blackrock investment group this fiscal year alone. Vanguard group has also in response to increasing their score also given Disney $753 million dollars in investment capital. So you’re right in the fact that I was wrong. They gave hem a billion dollars this year alone. Disney, and hundreds of companies all readily admit that this system both exists and is the indicator for directional investing. That they follow this system and their projects are decided by this metric.
>>313819 >What a concept The funny thing is. Unlike woke pandering Hollywood. Sounds of freedom have organic diversity. Angel films makes movies catering to Mormons, Muslims and Latino Catholics Hollywood ignores and mocks.
>>313820 >But by setting up the Indiana Jones franchise to be taken over by a woman and a mutt kid The kid was so ugly. I feel bad for making fun of the ugly stranger things kid. Seriously. What was Disney thinking? They were better off bringing back an adult short round.
>>313830 I was surprised to see that Ke Huy Quan wasn’t in the IMDB cast list for that film especially since he just won a litany of awards and spotlights recently. I just checked the film’s production information and found that they finished filming Dial a month before Quan returned to public consciousness and became an activist.
>>313828 So they're following the metric but it's clearly not enough to make a ROI and has a lower ROI than making an actually good product or, god forbid, hire co directors and related positions for tard wrangling so you get both a good product and get to still have your shitty diversity hires? Pursuit of profit dictates that this course isn't sustainable in the long term and they'll have to course correct or lose profitability and thus other investors. Sticking with this retarded plan will only lead to their own financial ruin unless they can manage to deflate their movie budgets, which knowing current disney ain't going to happen. Also sorry, I got a bit confused by your writing at first and thought you were talking about something besides ESG only to realize you were talking about ESG after that first post. But you should just open with information like that instead of sensationalizing and backing it up with an implied "dude, just trust me bro", but I guess you wanted your statement to have more weight and outright stating the money allotted would've proved your initial claim of it more than making up for ROI wrong outright.... Or you were just making an assumption I guess and assumed the investment money was higher than it was?
>>313832 >this course isn't sustainable in the long term >sticking with this retarded plan will only lead to their own financial ruin Disney isn’t going anywhere. They’re the second largest media conglomerate of The Big Five. They can ruin their animation, they can ruin their parks, they can ruin their resorts, they can ruin their brand name and public goodwill. Walt Disney is dead. Roy Disney is dead. Disney as a company will rebrand under a new umbrella, sell their assets (mostly to their new shell corp) and survive. It’ll kill Disney in name only. Disney the actual corporate conglomerate and media apparatus and all the people behind it will be just fine. But sure “Disney” the concept will be gone.
>>313832 >this course isn't sustainable in the long term Are you genuinely not paying attention to anything in the economic world or are you paid to be wrong about everything you say?
>>313816 Got your feelings hurt by reality being posted on your feed?
>>313819 I think comparing Sound of Freedom and Dial of Destiny may be a bit apples-and-oranges. SoF was much lower-budget, and as a result, could get away with appealing to what's ultimately a smaller, but still dedicated, demographic. DoD was more a "Made for general audiences" sort of movie, so they couldn't concentrate their efforts into appeasing just a small group of demographics if they were aiming for a ROI on its much higher budget. I think a fairer point of comparison in terms of recent films would be the Mario movie, which basically was intended for Nintendo fans (Very broad audience), and the families of younger ones (Also very broad audience). Plus, Illumination's repertoire is more one of lowest-common-denominator entertainment, so there's much less variance in movie quality.
>>313833 It can't keep that big forever and will probably end up either having to sell off IPs to stay afloat or after a few bad years just kind of explode into a bunch of other smaller companies picking up the liquidation scraps unless they pull a miracle out of their ass like they did with the marvel shit. There's also the remainder of the 200b Hulu acquisition looming over their heads that I'm pretty sure they can't weasel their way out of at this point, so you have to factor in that cost on top of other things. I thus think the opposite of your conclusion will happen in the long term. Disney the brand might stick around but Disney the large business conglomerate will have to fracture or at least sell off assets at some point to prevent financial issues. >>313834 Are you going to actually point out how I'm wrong so we can discuss this or just claim I'm wrong and not add to the discussion? And I don't get paid to think positively and believe in market forces doing their job eventually, sadly...
(14.96 KB 400x339 ATARI-Logo-Font.jpg)

>>313837 >Disney the brand might stick around but Disney the large business conglomerate will have to fracture or at least sell off assets at some point to prevent financial issues. So, what Atari did?
>>313838 Yeah, something like that.
>>313834 It entirely depends on the operational level. Studios like Walt Disney Pictures (not to be confused with “Walt Disney Studios” or “Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures”, they have FIVE of these tiny shell companies for film production) have already gone tits-up as an entity. The Studio itself has been operating at a total loss for years on end, is not financially profitable, and is completely insolvent. You go a layer up to the directors of the Walt Disney financial offices and they’re paying the Studio’s bills with revenue from, say, ESPN. The Studio itself, a separate financial business filing, is 100% owned by DisneyCorp and through redirection of actually profitable ventures, it stays afloat. Now “why bother?’” right? Why not close the shitty business making you lose money? Why not sell the film rights to other companies to boost your IPs? Because you can use it to boost your investor score. The film studios will come and go, dozens, hundreds will “go woke, go broke” and be totally destitute, but to understand why it persists, what the common factor is, you need to delve into the cause. You can shit out a film like Dial for $300 million and receive over a billion in investor capital. This results in the investors getting what they want (cultural change), you getting what you want (people adding money to your company value), and the shareholders getting what they want (returns on their 401k, something they don’t yet know they won’t be receiving). Now what’s the point of any of this? Individuals like Larry Fink, one of the directors of the ESG score, says that the people in charge of issuing the credit scores are doing so to incentivize companies (using everyone’s retirement money) to enact social change that they consider to be “right” and “necessary” outlined by people such as Klaus Schwab or the United Nations Council for Sociological Developement (Agenda 31). Effectively there’s a small group of people dictating what companies get money based on the feelings of the ESG auditors, influenced by WEF types, spiritually guided by 19th century philosophers. Disney just wants money. They want people to invest in their company. In fact the people in charge of the company are legally bound to increase shareholder value by virtually any means by the government. Socialist policies put in place to ensure CEOs can’t purposefully tank their own businesses. It’s all a mess, it’s infinitely complicated, it’s very decentralized, and there is not one person who knows or controls it all. Go up another level of Plato’s cave here and you find the people who actually print the money and the extend of their power that goes much further than any ESG company. It’s a big pain and only severe internet autism can start to understand it. Try explaining it to some boomer, good luck lmao.
>>313838 The massive cultural fallout of Disney breaking up will appear closer to what happened to Bell, not Atari. But legally speaking yeah. Nothing will change in operation like Bell, unlike Atari which got peicemealed.
>>313837 >And I don't get paid to think positively and believe in market forces doing their job eventually, sadly... Okay, you're just genuinely retarded and not paying any attention whatsoever. Thank you for clarifying. THERE ARE NO MARKET FORCES. They do not exist. There is no free market. The government directly controls everything that happens in the economic sector. Holy. fucking. shit. do you actually, genuinely believe that we have even a PARTIALLY free market anymore? How? Defend your claims. How the fuck is ANYTHING in this market supposed to be 1. free from direct government control and regulatory oversight and 2. EVEN REMOTELY LEGITIMATE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Did you know that 30 percent of working age Americans currently have no job? Did you know that the government just released its monthly jobs report stating that there's only a 3 percent unemployment rate? DO YOU THINK ANY OF THE OTHER NUMBERS RELEASED BY THE GOVERNMENT, BANKS, ECONOMIC INSTITUTIONS, OR ANYONE ELSE ARE ANY LESS FAKE? Forget the USSR. Forget China. The West is communist, anon. They make up every fucking number, too.

>>313837 Here’s the problem with Disney specifically. They’re not like Viacom/CBS, they’re not like Time Warner, they’re not like Comcast. They’re not like these other 3 major media companies. Disney is DISNEY. It has meaning to people culturally, ascetically. Disney the brand, the household name is what’s going to implode. Disney the media giant will do exactly this: >just kind of explode into a bunch of other smaller companies ABC, FOX, ESPN, all those others, they’re all going to live under a new media shell company when the Disney Corp has to downsize. The part of the company that actually made a profit, ironically everything that Disney bought and turned around, will continue on under a new name. Everyone involved with the Disney Corp will go work for that new company and nothing will change. Disney the parks, the films, the animations, the star warses and marvelses, all of these entirely unprofitable enterprises, that’s all going to go away. Disney the brand is what going to go poof because the brand is already tarnished irreparably, culturally. That was the goal for ESG to culturally shit everything away. That part is what’s going to be excised when the breakup happens. The Disney Media apparatus will be fine under a rebrand, the Disney culture will die off. >market forces I loled. The net worth of everybody on the planet combined who live outside the international American stock and investor system might be able to squeak out double digit percentage of the total economic power wielded by the apparatus. $20.69 trillion under management by just the top three. The only organizations who could combat that (not that they’d want to) are the Federal Reserve and the Bank of International Settlements. What John Stupid buys on Amazon means nothing.
>>313847 >Disney the parks >that’s all going to go away. Wouldn't it take a while to demolish the parks considering the resources they put into it since they started?
>>313847 >>313848 I think it's more likely for Disney to sell some of the studios they bought as well as another company buying out Disney outright and making major changes to management rather than Disney going out of business THQ style.

The English side of internet is too obsessed with waging culture wars over dumbed-down versions of politics (blue/left/SJW/literally Stallin team vs red/right/pol/literally Hitler team) to have somewhat neutral digital squares. Every western alternative "becomes aligned" with one "side" almost immediately after its creation, and from that point onward it continues attracting people from that side (and being boycotted by people from the "other side") with more and more radical views until only the radicals obsessed with politics remain.
>>313848 With Reedy Creek autonomous zone being reabsorbed into the government you can already start to see signs of change in the area. They’re closing and removing two hotels (Galaxy and Polynesian) and they never fished building Pop Century. Hell, many of the areas on the resort property aren’t even Disney owned. Swan and Dolphin and other associated locations are Marriott. >demolish the parks Doubt. Maybe large parts of Hollywood due to heavy IP usage. Disney Hollywood used to be owned by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer before they themselves collapsed and were bought by Amazon. I wouldn’t be surprised if Universal jumps on Hollywood and Downtown if given the chance. Disney Epcot has been partially demolished for over 4 years now. The “pavilion of tomorrow” where they showed to kids what their smart homes of the future would look like with remote controlled locks and lights and air with camera drones and voice assistants. Voiced activated microwaves and refrigerators with windows that order food right to your door. Whole home camera and surveillance systems and of course an AI that does paperless billing for your financials. That whole area was demoed years ago. Of course today if your house catches you saying NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER it literally locks you outside and repossesses itself. It’s going to be really, really messy when, not if, the time comes.
>>313856 >(and being boycotted by people from the "other side") No, the right doesn't boycott Twitter or whatever, it just gets banned by them in enough numbers to ruin the conversation. >>313857 The parks would just be sold off to one or more other companies, which would then rebrand things and try to craft a new image. Paramount had a bunch of amusement parks until like 15 years ago, and when they got bought out by Cedar Fair, that's all that happened. It would be a bigger deal with Disney parks, but essentially the same thing.
>>313852 >anime girls in the front page, lolis every 5 posts Sold! Where do I... >invite-only Just as well if it keeps the tourists out.
>>313858 Even selling the parks off, large swaths would have to be gutted and demolished. I mention Hollywood mostly because it’s basically just an IP playground but Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom both have large areas that are just IP centric zones. I think Anaheim would just get sucked up by real estate developers. That being said I don’t think any company that buys Magic Kingdom of all places would ditch that name. Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom is known to people who pick up cow shit all day in kibbutzes. Nobody gives a shit about Action Park or Hersheyland or Knobles disappearing. You get a “what?” or “who?” in response.
>>313860 You'd be surprised how easy it is to just swap out IPs and rebrand rides and whole parks. It happens all the time even under Disney, as they attempt to salvage less popular rides, or older rides whose IPs aren't recognized by younger audiences anymore (and who may or may not have already become popular enough as rides to have essentially usurped the IP for themselves. But Disney changes them anyway). My local park was a Paramount Park when I was growing up, and to this day I'll always refer to the rides as Top Gun, Drop Zone, Tomb Raider, Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster, etc. But they just swapped out the names, and while I'm not gonna pretend Paramount's parks were ever as intricately themed as Disney's, it wasn't a big deal to retheme most of those rides. It didn't make them any less fun. Disney (or their successors) can just take that Frozen ride from Epcot and turn it back to the non-movie themed ride it was a few years ago. They can take The Haunted Mansion and call it the Spooky Manor and new audiences wouldn't give a shit, and old audiences wouldn't like that it's changing at all, but ultimately they'll still have just as much fun, even if the name on the sign says a different thing now. There are a couple older rides that are a bit more iconic and use film-based IPs, but it's fewer and fewer every year. Do they still have that scary Snow White ride? I know it's already been rethemed over the years many times to make it less scary. They can do that again and just swap the copyrighted characters for generic ones, or new ones that the park can try to market. Or also likely, whoever buys the things from Disney would strike deals to keep using the classic characters. People hate the new shit Disney makes, but Snow White and Pinocchio are a whole different story, and plenty of companies would probably find it worthwhile to lease the use of characters like that in parks, and Disney would be glad to let them. They'd probably just lease everything in the park at once, so the new owners wouldn't have to change it. But they probably would change large swaths of it anyway, specifically the parts people don't like.
>>313861 >But they probably would change large swaths of it anyway, specifically the parts people don't like. Already happening with Splash Mountain
>>313861 >You'd be surprised how easy it is to just swap out IPs and rebrand rides and whole parks. It happens all the time even under Disney, as they attempt to salvage less popular rides, or older rides whose IPs aren't recognized by younger audiences anymore I actually hate that shit because it caused half of Disneyland to be closed down every time I went there due to them renovating the rides (This was back in the Aughts and in elementary school). But, I guess I was the target seeing as how I was one of the few kids who DID know about Swiss Family Robinson, Davy Crockett, and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. Funny thing is that the best rides was always the non-IPs like Thunder Mountain and PotC (This was before the movie). Magic Mountain was always the better park, though. >>313862 No one had a problem with Splash Mountain except for the modern Progressives, who all took glee in tearing it down to replace it with The Princess and the Frog.
>>313862 They've done it with plenty of rides before Splash Mountain. I'm surprised Splash Mountain has stayed the way it is for so long, not because it's "offensive," but because it's become far more famous than the movie it is themed around. It being such a famous ride is probably why it has stayed the way it is for so long, but they've changed other rides that were also famous, and based on famous movies, despite fans liking the previous versions. I suppose Splash Mountain really is one of their most famous rides, though.
>>313863 >I actually hate that shit Oh yeah, it's fucking stupid. But they do it anyway. New owners might be less stupid, and less focused on some sort of corporate synergy, so they might just do it once when they first buy, and then less than Disney did before. But of course one can only hope. >replace it with The Princess and the Frog. Is that what they did? Probably an even more forgotten movie than Song of the South. But fine, let the idiots waste their money.
>>313861 I couldn’t tell you about Snow White, that’s in Anaheim. Haunted Mansion, I can’t imagine anybody getting the rights to Paul Frees’ voice. Making new lines with AI has already been a legal gray zone. I’m not saying it’s impossible, I don’t think I have. It’s just going to be the largest legal nightmare of the current age. It’ll take years for any of these things to be fixed. Not like the parks are profitable either. They operate at a loss. I said I doubt they’d be totally demoed. It’s just a huge mess.
>>313852 I should've made an account when it was not invite only i didnt expect the surge to be this big
>>313866 >It’ll take years for any of these things to be fixed. I don't care. If anything, something I've noticed is that making these theme parks so IP-centric has actually done more harm to them than good. AFAIK, it seems like the only company that has managed to pull it off is Universal. Seriously, which of the following would you rather go to: <Disneyland/California Adventure <Knott's Berry Farm <Legoland <Magic Mountain <Sea World <Universal Studios Hollywood <Waterworld My examples are the Cali amusement parks because I've never been farther East than Kansas.
>>313865 >new owners might be less stupid When a few dozen articles come out demanding that the new owners “right the wrongs of Disney” and “make positive changes for racial equity” that mean old Disney, the defunct company made by white men, wouldn’t make, they’ll find their ESG score slipping and when they find that 30% of their company is owned by State Street/Blackrock/Vanguard and their stocks are about to go on a fire sale, that veneer is going to get changes right fucking quick. And so it continues.

Sound of Freedom’ Is an Anti-Child Trafficking Fantasy Fit for QAnon >Never trust a pedophile!” doesn’t quite have the ring of, “I’ll be back,” or, “Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker,” but it suffices as a one-liner in Alejandro Monteverde’s child-trafficking action flick Sound of Freedom (out now). It’s said by Jim Caviezel, playing real-life anti-trafficking activist Tim Ballard, in the same sandpaper whisper that actors often don to play Batman (with some Liam Neeson in Taken sprinkled in for flavor). >The role actually gives Caviezel the opportunity to spout several extremely self-serious one-liners, like when he explains why he’s in the line of work that he is: “Because God’s children are not for sale.” >Or when he tearfully recites: “Over two million children a year are being sucked into the deepest recesses of hell.” At last, QAnon’s camp appeal gets the cinematic exploration it demands. >A few qualifications upfront: The exploitation of children is a real problem that no one (besides the exploiters) wants. Ballard has testified at a House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee and shared footage of the sting operation portrayed in Sound of Freedom with the media (some of that footage also plays during the final moments of the movie). He was appointed to the Public-Private Partnership Advisory Council to End Human Trafficking by Donald Trump in 2019 (the council was terminated in 2020). >However, the legitimacy of Ballard’s organization, Operation Underground Railroad, its claims of heroic rescues of trafficking victims, and its methodology have been questioned and investigated by journalists. The organization has distanced itself from “conspiracy theory groups who have chosen to latch onto child exploitation and human trafficking as a vehicle to deceptively bolster their causes” (i.e. QAnon). >That said, Ballard told the New York Times in 2020 that “some of these theories have allowed people to open their eyes,” and therefore, “now it’s our job to flood the space with real information so the facts can be shared.” He tweeted that year, “With or without Wayfair, child trafficking is real and happening!!!” and in the attached video, claimed that “Children are sold that way” in reference to the Wayfair conspiracy theory positing the furniture company’s catalog was a front for selling children who shared the names of its furniture. >And really, how distant can Ballard (and by extension his organization) be from QAnon when the guy who’s playing him, with whom he’s been promoting Sound of Freedom, has been using the press opportunity to peddle QAnon theories about adrenochrome and organ harvesting? >CAVIEZEL’S SHAMELESS BEGGING AT THE END OF THE MOVIE UNDERLINES A DESPERATION TO DISSEMINATE. Sound of Freedom was finished back in 2018 (about two years after Pizzagate put QAnon into the public eye) but was shelved by Disney at the time. Now, it’s getting an indie release as a “conservative” thriller with the hopes of breaking into the mainstream. >In an interview with Steve Bannon from earlier this month, Caviezel went on at length about “the whole adrenochrome empire” as driving demand for trafficking. Though Caviezel didn’t direct Freedom, he’s treating it as a passion project, appearing in its trailer to speak directly to the camera about its importance. The movie also concludes with a similar speech from Caviezel after its credits run, in which he proclaims, “I think that we can make Sound of Freedom the Uncle Tom’s Cabin of 21st century slavery.” >He directs people to a QR code on screen, urging them to donate to the movie’s pay-it-forward program to provide tickets for people who are interested in seeing it but cannot afford it. The movie has received endorsements from Elon Musk and Ivanka Trump. It probably will come as no surprise that among Ballard’s promotional rhetoric has been anti-trans sentiment. >He claimed to the Daily Signal that trans ideology “foisted on children” is going to lead to “what the pedophiles have been asking for. If you can consent to that, guess what? What’s more fluid than gender? Age.” He also has blamed trafficking on Biden’s border policy. >Hm, that’s a lot of vested interest. Ballard portrays himself as a superhero (and the movie is happy to follow suit), who after a supposed (unverified) stint in the CIA, moved on to DHS and then quit that job because, per Sound of Freedom, he wasn’t happy with the focus on merely hunting pedophiles and needed to literally save the children. In Sound of Freedom, Mira Sorvino, in what amounts to an extended cameo (which is still long enough to get the stink of this thing all over her), plays Ballard’s wife who tells him, “OK, so you quit your job, and you go and rescue those kids.” That’s undoubtedly good for the soul, and, it turns out, the bank account: OUR raised $47.5 million in 2020, the most recent year for which such information is available—more than twice as much as it raised in 2019. >Meanwhile, its effectiveness have been widely called into question, with some suggesting that its methods are largely theatrical, don’t get to the wider systemic issues underpinning trafficking, and, in some cases, by insisting that traffickers procure them the youngest possible workers for undercover sting operations, create a demand for them, causing their trafficking. OUR denies these claims. >Any movie portraying exploitation of this sort runs the risk of effectively reiterating it, and Sound of Freedom contains queasy scenes that feature kids looking scared in beds, or posing quasi-provocatively for cameras. >Ballard throws the kid he rescues in a van that speeds away, and the only thing that visually distinguishes this from a kidnapping is the implied virtue. The movie itself is well-acted, it looks expensive, and it moves at a rapid clip. I feel no urge to ever see it again, but I can’t say I wasn’t entertained in some way. Maybe “bemused” is a better word. But of course, this is tailored to go down easy. >That’s how propaganda works, and Caviezel’s shameless begging at the end of the movie underlines a desperation to disseminate. The polish only makes Sound of Freedom’s attempt to illustrate how a voguish cultural anxiety can be ameliorated if people would just be courageous enough to pursue it (or give money to those willing to pursue it) more insidious. https://archive.ph/bkkEr Being against child trafficking makes you a conservative Donald trump supporters said journalists.

Speaking of advertising this place, I want you guys' input. I have tried to follow the MaxRevive playbook and even caved in to advertise boards and threads through Twitter accounts. This has not worked much, I've seen a few users dropping by but not remaining for any extended amount of time. Aside from the features that we've been discussing in the last thread, what I fear is making us unviable as a platform is the fact that we're competing with both Reddit and 4chan at the same time. While we do have slight upgrades compared to either site (more files per post, more bandwidth, more formatting options), we lack something crucial, that is to say, visibility. Everyone knows about Reddit and people are scared but still dabble with 4chan. We're forever an obscure site though, because of the stigma associated with the name AND the fact we will never come up in search results. What I think was ingenious of the cuckchan administration was to make their NSFW portion of the site completely inaccessible to normies, while their SFW one is google-searchable without too much hassle. It may seem like it's stupid, but most people still use google as their personal URL finder. We're losing on every single chance of getting new, dedicated users because people don't even know how to reach this place. At the same time, I don't consider Discord a direct competitor: it does something completely different from all other social media and imageboards - namely instant messaging and organizing - but it does not provide the same amount of depth in discussions when compared to other services. If anything, we should take the good features of sites and services we're not competing with and integrating them here, somehow.

Biggest downside about cuckchan though is that no one wants to discuss anything, they just put the least effort possible in their posts when they're not shilling something or posting softcore. Literally all this site needs is a different name and it'd be a thousand times better.
>>313952 That would imply there's music in that film.
>>313945 should have named the place OmniChan:8finity. being too close to 8kunt was a mistake because of all the bad press, I think google and most outlets probably think 8moe is affiliated with 8kunt even with that small disclaimer on the front page. adult/porn boards should be labeled with a red or pink border around them in the list. we should have more inter-board advertising with other boards banners should show up in in the index of each board but maybe in a different size/format (not sure, it should also be randomized) boards should have monthly meme competitions. meams/meme culture was how Imageboards used to grow organically and get new users interested. we haven't been actively meme making since 2016! (at least that's how it feels)
>>313953 >Literally their mods don't give a shit unless you dox people, post links to places or items the mods... B...but the sour grapes fags fine anons here have been saying that even uttering the dreaded word beginning with N gets you instabanned and that this is the last true bastion of free speech! You lie! You lie! Do you think cuckchan is actively growing, by the way? More of a steady population, perhaps?
>>313955 >boards should have monthly meme competitions By far the most inorganic idea presented so far. Those used to spring up naturally; forcing it is an absolute waste of time and even detrimental in some ways.
>>313956 I dont think any IB is growing at all, anons are getting tired and dropping, and the new generations just use discord.
>>313910 In what world does the bottom left not admire the top left?
>>313955 >boards should have monthly meme competitions. meams/meme culture was how Imageboards used to grow organically and get new users interested. I like this idea, but I fear the execution will be sloppy. Having the top three boards do it though could be fun. Forcing memes is also crass. Having those big collage pictures where each board contributes would be fun though. The Infinity Cup was supposed to be our thing for that sort of stuff. >>313956 >You lie! You lie! I mean, it could also be that I was lucky not to incur in peak mods hours. Or that no real happening was going on, aside from the anti-Skullgirls movement. Plus I didn't care about using their political boards, there I believe you're much more likely to get banned for wrong think, but /v/ was completely safe. >Do you think cuckchan is actively growing, by the way? More of a steady population, perhaps? It's hard to say. /v/ is definitely super popular, probably more than it has ever been, but I have noticed some threads stay there for like 8 hours straight without getting archived, while other ones stay like 10 minutes and they're gone forever. Plus it's really hard to tell if it's always the same thread or different iterations of the same thread, since most users do not really contribute much to the conversation and just spout memes or repost pictures over and over again. All the niche, hobby boards though are dead, though not in the way niche boards on this or other altchans are dead. They get about 30 new threads a day each, with many (even /d/!) having threads last a few days with very little activity, and the active threads are about as active as this here Gamergate thread. Basically, while places such as this one have a few, very active threads and the rest of the board and site are dead, on 4chan big boards have almost unbearable amounts of posts that don't really amount to anything but noise + the occasional exceptional thread like that one guy who decompiled a Gamecube game because he really wanted to see big tits up close, while the niche boards receive about double the amount of activity of a small board on 8chan. That answers your question?
>>313960 >That answers your question? Fairly comprehensively, thank you. Did you notice any number of posts complaining specifically about a lack of features? Not moderation policies, just features.
>>313956 how does anyone use halfchan with its crazy fucked up captcha system? just being easier to use/post on makes this place several times better >>313957 it can be called something else but the bottom line is that boards need to produce content to stay alive and active. >>313958 >anons are getting tired and dropping, and the new generations just use discord. that's why we have to be more interesting/more fun to use then things like discord. honestly why would anons go to discord when its interface sucks? most discord servers are ghost towns. discord outside of communication for games and other friend groups is a shit service that's been forced onto the majority by a minority of lazy fucks that don't want to manage a forum. (maybe its also cheeper?)
>>313962 >honestly why would anons go to discord when its interface sucks? I neer said anons go there wcih some do mind you), i said that the new generations go there instead of using imageboards.
>>313961 No, they occasionally bitch about jannies deleting their threads, but usually it's because the thread in question is a template thread that does not deal with discussing fucking videogames, but rather just fucking a videogame. Even then they keep most pornographic boards alone if they can look like they're talking about the game. The Skullgirls thread is in fucking shambles but it's still technically about a game. One thing I noticed there and that isn't the case here is that it's chock full of trannies and twitteroids. Luckily, whenever one of them posts, they're swarmed by dozens of replies telling them to do a flip, but the problem is that they're allowed to keep posting threads without getting deleted. If anything, they let too much content that isn't fucking vidya being posted, but I'd rather that than ban-on-sight policies. >>313962 >how does anyone use halfchan with its crazy fucked up captcha system? It's not hard at all. If anything, 8chan's captcha system is more annoying, because although it only triggers on your first post or if you make too many of them in a row, the fonts used and the distortion applied to them can result in a lot of near-misses. Plus the fact that you're timed on it might seem a non-issue, except I've had a LOT of cases where I was replying to someone and the captcha started from like 30 seconds already, meaning that by the time I was done with my post the captcha had refreshed and I would have to do it again. To be honest, they've got an advantage in that they employ mods around the clock and have had the blessing of three letter agencies and cuckflare, meaning they don't get the same amount of spammers as here. >>313963 >the new generations go there instead of using imageboards. That's because they don't know better. Before 2015 I had no fucking clue places like this existed because the only imageboard known to the normiesphere was 4chan. I have navigated so many different altchans and 8chan has been the only one I've felt consistently "home" if that makes any sense to you.
>>313960 >guy who decompiled a Gamecube game because he really wanted to see big tits up close. what? what game did they decompile?

>>313965 I want to see your big tits anon
>>313966 I should add: the problem with 4chan is that for any, legendary thread, they have about a thousand that are just noise. You do get helpful anons ansering your questions, but it's 50:50 split on whether they're nice and whether it's actually useful. As expected, the /g/ anons are cancerous, but unexpectedly everyone on /v/ is pretty nice and well mannered. I wish we could get that spirit, of anons being helpful to other anons, creating shit and having the occasional legendary thread every 100th one.
>>313966 oh, I forgot that game even existed. today that would probably earn it an M for mature rating >I wish we could get that spirit, of anons being helpful to other anons. anons working together is always magical. I do have some songs, but nothing by itself. And, I don't know of any radio shows. That's why I asked in the learning thread. > Do you play vidya in Japanese even if it has an English release? I do have several titles that I already own under that category (See the learning thread), but I have not played straight through them. Something I've noticed is that, outside of JRPGs, a lot of Japanese games already have extremely English menus, or were already translated into English when released globally. Also, something I've been doing recently (As in, just started in the past few days) is that I've been going through some of the content that I'm learning Japanese for and adding words and terms used in them for vocab reference. At the current moment, this mostly consists of adding vocab from my bilingual copy of Love Hina (Yes, they made these in Japan) and game system OSes.

>>313978 >a minecraft, tf2, and tf2c server would probably bring in dozens of people I disagree with that, people would start using the gaming server for its intended use, and maybe you'd get a few people to check out the site and ask others to join in. >>313979 I think the desire to namefag and the ease of moderation it brings would drive most to reddit, discuck, or maybe federated stuff like lemmy. If that's what you want, then do it. But YOU NEED TO DO WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE LONG AGO; ask yourself what you want. What are you trying to accomplish? What are your goals? Do you... a. Want a place where pro-GamerGate users can discuss GG related topics free from censorship and anti-GG agendas, where users can post edgy, offensive, often juvenile posts and comments akin to the much-mythologized wild west of the Internet? b. I actually prefer the slow comfy posting over the attention-starved PPH obsessed discussions. If you want a site that popular and active, the take to social media, faggot.
>>314008 > The problem is & always has been people just not knowing the site exists or refusing to use it over what they're used to. That's pretty much it. Give people something to come here for, give them a reason to stay, let them know that we're here, and we might get more people. I came here for the Gamergate digs and stuck around for the drawthreads and the webm threads. So the first people we should advertise to are ex-gamergaters who used to be part of the community. We used to have a huge movement and then everyone disappeared. So go out and find people and get them up to speed on the latest digs. Get them talking about them. Either this fucking new anti-spam system works or it doesn't It's time to bring back file posting if it does. Additionally one of the admins, Codexx I think, mentioned that they could do a compromise where they had fileposting on during hours when there are plenty of jannies and BOs active so that they could take care of spam and bite off any probing attacks at the balls and only disable it during real schizo posting hours. You should talk to them about that. >2) We need some kind of events to drive active cooperation and engagement with anons and even create OC The more the better. Anything that can drive activity. >>314018 I agree, but also I'd like to add my two cents: casual users of 8chan were driven away by illegal content and constant drama. Recovering casual users will just come with time, but inconsistent application of rules in favor of moderator preference is frustrating and turns away posters who would be contributing more often.
>>314019 No, casual users were driven away by the government shutting it down, so they couldn't find it when it opened under a new domain. Casual users don't notice the drama, and anyone who would come here in the first place doesn't care about "illegal" content.

Seeing as /tech/ is dead... How long do CPU fans typically last? Had the stock from the 8320E for 9 years now and it's only two weeks ago that it started making a slight intermittent buzzing noise or being unusually quiet, followed by a sudden shutdown. Takes a bit long for it to rev up again, according to what I see in BIOS. This was after I blasted the dust out. Is the Hyper 212 a decent replacement? Sole worry is whether or not it'll fit and not get in the way of the other parts. Motherboard is ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0. And just to make this /v/, how goes the GTX 2000 series? Bouncing between retiring the GTX 950 or springing for a Steam Deck.

>>314056 Well if you want a cooler for life and don't want to worry about compatibility or build quality then noctua is the go to. But it will cost quite a bit more.
>>314058 I may expand my options beyond the 212 anyway. Found some installation videos and I do not like how it seemingly needs to be upright with fan facing sideways. Can't say I have the sharpest of memories of my PC's innards but I'm almost certain that's going to interfere with my RAM, to say nothing if I'd be able to close the case at all. I want something as short as the stock cooler but fuck if I know what its dimensions are. Worse still is that AM3+ compatible fans are obscenely expensive.
>>314059 Well noctua has quite a larger selection so I'd check them out. They usually list ram compatibility on their official site. They have low profile ones ranging up to massive dual tower coolers.

>>314038 >nvidia Depends on your use case (any sort of AI, heavy dependency on nvidia's AI performance shit) but I'd recommend an AMD GPU instead. Better price-per-FPS there. >9 years CPU fan Yep. Most parts last about 8-10 years if you correctly clean it and maintain it to keep the temps down. Exceptions are SSDs and harddrives. Power supply units can go up to 15-20 years before going kaput. Platinum ones, though, I wouldn't depend on a gold rated power supply unit past the 8-10 year mark. Cases last longer, but only if you are able to replace the front panel on your own in case anything is fucky when you retire the rest of the PC. >Hyper 212 You'll need to measure the dimensions of your case and the immediate area around your motherboard. I had a issue in my recent build (upgrading from a build from 2013) where I had to consider CPU fans under 161 mm in length, and despite that during install it was a pain in the ass to screw everything in (since my motherboard was already in the case.)

Speed speed speed speed speed. Eyes eyes eyes eyes eyes. You can find the cure for cancer or invent an engine/carburetor that runs on water but if you don’t tell anybody then it might as well not exist at all. They need a direction, they need leads, they need brains. The brain drain in 2014 as we all left, where principled users quit for elsewhere, long term has been a disaster for all parties. The brain cannot live without the body and the body is useless without the brain. I hope that doesn’t frighten you, a truly effective /v/.

‘Sound Of Freedom’ Is a Superhero Movie for Dads With Brainworms >“Based on a true story,” I heard from somewhere across the theater. The familiar words had appeared on screen, and an elderly man had taken it upon himself to read them aloud, to the rest of a sizable audience seated for a matinee showing of the anti-child-trafficking thriller Sound of Freedom, starring Jim Caviezel. >For the seasoned moviegoer, this phrase is a joke — we know that cinema will stretch almost any “truth” to the breaking point — and the rank insincerity of such a pronouncement is the foundation of the prankish opening titles of Fargo. >But this crowd, I could tell, would view the events depicted over the next two-plus hours as entirely literal. Caviezel, best known for being tortured to death in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, has become a prominent figure on the conspiracist right, giving speeches and interviews in which he hints at an underground holy war between patriots and a sinister legion of evildoers who are harvesting the blood of children. >It’s straight-up QAnon stuff, right down to his use of catchphrases like “The storm is upon us.” Here, he gets to act out some of that drama by playing a fictionalized version of Tim Ballard, head of the anti-sex trafficking nonprofit Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), in a feature film that casts the operator as a Batman-style savior for kids sold into the sex trade. >Ballard himself has dabbled in Q-adjacent conspiracy theories, such as the Wayfair trafficking hoax, while his organization has far-right affinities and a long record of distorting its botched “raids,” which rely on bizarre tactics like asking psychics where to find victims for rescue. >Ballard, Caviezel, and others of their ilk had primed the public to accept Sound of Freedom as a documentary rather than delusion by fomenting moral panic for years over this grossly exaggerated “epidemic” of posting on /leftypol/-trafficking, much of it funneling people into conspiracist rabbit holes and QAnon communities. In short, I was at the movies with people who were there to see their worst fears confirmed. >Sound of Freedom lives up to that anticipation. It’s a stomach-turning experience, fetishizing the torture of its child victims and lingering over lush preludes to their sexual abuse. At times I had the uncomfortable sense that I might be arrested myself just for sitting through it. >Nonetheless, the mostly white-haired audience around me could be relied on to gasp, moan in pity, mutter condemnations, applaud, and bellow “Amen!” at moments of righteous fury, as when Ballard declares that “God’s children are not for sale.” >They were entranced by what they clearly took for a searing exposé. Not even the occasional nasty coughing fit — and we had no shortage of those — could break the spell. >At the outset, we’re introduced to Caviezel as Ballard, working for the Department of Homeland Security as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He takes down purveyors of Democrat activismography, but is haunted by the knowledge that the actual victims are beyond his grasp. >Meanwhile, a father in Honduras entrusts his young daughter and son to a woman who claims she can set them up with modeling careers, only to abduct them for transport to a posting on /leftypol/ trafficking ring in Colombia. >When Ballard takes the initiative of arranging his first sting to nab a pedophile who has a stolen child in tow, he conveniently ends up rescuing that little boy — and commits to finding the sister as well. Eventually, he’ll abandon the DHS altogether, a rogue crusader fed up with bureaucratic limitations, to infiltrate and bring down the Colombian operation. >Apart from its relentless messaging, the movie is hobbled by a near-total absence of procedural logic. That original rescue is only possible because Ballard is standing at the exact right spot of a U.S.-Mexico border station at the very moment his target tries to cross. Lucky! >Earlier, Ballard convinces an imprisoned Democrat activism peddler facing a sentence of 30 years to help him contact traffickers in exchange for an immunity deal, needlessly posing as a pedophile himself to gain trust. When the guy fulfills his end of the bargain, Ballard has a dozen police officers swarm the diner they’re in to… >arrest him again? Wait, how was he sprung from custody in the first place? Doesn’t matter as long as the drooling creep with requisite glasses and pervert mustache gets his head slammed against a table once more. >The same muddled approach is taken to Ballard’s later, more sensational busts, which is certainly in keeping with the way O.U.R. embellishes and misrepresents their international “missions,” according to a Vice News investigation of the group. >Then you have Caviezel, bleached blond to match Ballard’s buff, clean-cut Mormon profile. Performance-wise, he’s stuck on a note of world-historical grief, either crying or staring with bloodshot eyes as he attempts to convey the scale and weight of the tragedy before him. >The unambiguous hero of the piece, Ballard invokes parenthood as his motivation or an argument to get the cooperation he wants — “What if it was your daughter?” is practically his catchphrase — yet aside from a dialogue-free breakfast scene, he never interacts with his offspring. >And if Mira Sorvino, who plays his wife Katherine, spent more than a day on set, you’d never know it: she’s there for all of two minutes, offering brief words of encouragement while Ballard spends weeks undercover as a louche sex tourist in Central America. >She, too, evidently had a personal stake in joining this film, telling the Washington Examiner this week that she has “met so many child survivors and my heart burns for them.” Compared to this nonsense, Sound of Freedom is relatively grounded in our universe. >But that mainstream accessibility makes it valuable as a recruitment tool, much as generic “Save the Children” campaigns proved gateways to far-right conspiracy theories about a secret cabal of evil elites conducting blood rituals. On the QAnon message board Great Awakening this week, adherents celebrated the movie’s box-office success (it quickly made back its modest budget of around $14 million and out-earned the latest Indiana Jones sequel on July 4, its premiere date, after the franchise blockbuster had been out for several days) while crowing that “demons,” including movie theater employees annoyed by the demographic it pulled in, were miserable at their victory. >Therefore, to its boosters, the movie checks many satisfying boxes at once. Caviezel, a devout Catholic allegedly blacklisted by the entertainment industry, back for a mythology-burnishing biopic of Ballard; a call to action in an imagined global war against sexual predators; a blow struck at the heart of “woke” Hollywood, the den of iniquity that snubbed it and (lest we forget) is thought to produce the wealthy deviants who serve as villains in this story. >Meaning it will surely do no good to point out Sound of Freedom‘s hackneyed white savior narrative. Or its wildly immature assumption that abused and traumatized children go right back to normal once the bad guys are in handcuffs. Or that it enforces stereotypes about trafficking that Angel Studios itself says are less than accurate. >To the film’s intended viewers, these cannot be flaws — they’re the whole appeal. the far right turns to these sordid fantasies about godless monsters hurting children. Now, as in the 1980s Satanic panic, they won’t even face the fact that most kids who suffer sexual abuse are harmed not by a shadowy cabal of strangers, but at the hands of a family member. https://archive.ph/knuQT When the last time (((Hollywood))) and journalists got this mad at a movie and actor?

He ended up pissing off both sides because he was less censorious than the hard-core left, but still too censorious for what the libertarian right was hoping from him, and on top of this it was too late in Twitter's lifespan for him to salvage much. The damage to the site was already done so he has an absurdly difficult job ahead of him if he wants the site to even remotely have a chance of profiting, and it's unlikely he'll ever even break even on his investment. There's also the fact that a lot of places are also paid to attack Musk because he took control of a powerful social media force of course, I don't think Rossman is one of them but it's possible.

So basically it's either Vecchiochan (4chan tier posts), social media, or Niuchan (completely dead, but they have stream nights). Alogs is basically just one /pol/ schizo posting links to archived articles and occasionally someone reposting Rita art from somewhere else. >/dempart/ The frogs migrated to anon.cafe, for a while, then they set up their own imageboard (forgot what it's called), they just jump from one place to the next, as expected. >Lurkers I REALLY wish we could see the amount of lurkers on the Boards List, instead of "Users" being a misleading misnomer for "Posts Per Day". And you can see the gears slowly turning inside their heads, slowly realising things. And I'm here, walking by them, hearing them chat loudly and such and all I'm thinking is <I've been saying that for a decade now, about twitter, tumblr, how OWS was the start and all they did was call me the second coming of Hitler <and the oldfags still aren't alarmed enough from all that <and the younger people still admit it but also turn around and call the others nazis for saying the same things It's the kind of tired sleep really doesn't fix.
