RWBY OC Thread 04/23/2025 (Wed) 07:03:50 Id: 357038 No. 655
AUTISM GENERAL DO: Post your OCs, weapon designs, fanfics, animations, oekaki, etc. Fanworks you didn't personally make are welcome. (SLVR/DARK/etc) DON'T: Post OC that is of nothing but canon characters. At least have your own creations interacting with them. Try to keep smutposting to a reasonable level if you really must tell us about your furry futa faunus. Thread questions to tell us about your character! 1) Where do you see your OC fitting into the world? Are they supposed to be related to the canon story, or are they doing their own thing? 2) Your character has a fairytale, right? How much does it come through in their design or story? 3) Tell about your character's weapon and how they use it. Did they make it themselves? Hand-me-down? Standard issue from an organization? 4) Answer the Faunus Question. 5) Does your OC have a team or is it just them? Tell about the team and if it has a cohesive theme/style/concept. Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) is also welcome! ScarletVerse specific stuff >>>1999

If Scarletverse wasn't so big it'd probably go in this thread now that I think about it. I'll make a Scarlet Verse Embassy OP with that in mind. Probably won't be used much but it'll at least be there for anyone interested. That aside, have this: https://fiction.live/stories/Faunus-fever/6TDkcejSticCe8NyT/home Reposting from >>43 A sort of Faunus OC CYOA about Faunus domination or whatever. Sort of thread relevant.
>>1989 Alright, what's the deal with Scarletverse? I never frequented the /trash/ threads. Some kind of self-contained collaborative OC AU?
>>1992 It started with some shitpost random pairings, with Scarlet being Adam Taurus and Cinder Fall's Love-Hate child. From there a bunch of other OC children came about from other random pairs, then those children were given pairs. So Tyrian and Neo were a thing for example at some point shit just got wildly out of hand and stopped really being about RWBY, so they split into a different general thread because they were flooding the RWBY General and people that weren't interested were tired of it. From there it just kept growing. Ask Bingo about it more, I left the scarletverse back in the early days, when it hadn't become it's own verse yet.
>>1994 I'm kind of impressed, autistic crackshipping aside. Feels like the kind of mid 00s forum fiction Monty more or less started his public identity with.
>>1995 Yeah it does feel that way. Ironic given that RWBY itself is a product of such stuff (primarily Final Fantasy and Monty's love of that). It reminds me of FRWBY too.

>>655 >1) Where do you see your OC fitting into the world? Apocyan Timberborn does not remotely fit into the world of Remnant, and that is a salient point of many interactions in the fic. People can tell who their own people are; they will be able to tell that Apo isn't from anywhere they know, though to exactly which extent will be based on the individual in question who sees this character. His story begins invoking the same tone as Fallout 1 - a death simulator, demonstrating just how thoroughly his civilized candy ass will get wrecked by the uncaring world. What is able to accomplish, however, will grow - by no determinable means. There is no status screen, no game menu, no character sheet. What will come may as well be beamed directly into his head. To the people on the ground, there will be no identifiable source or cause; mainly because what he will do will shatter everything they thought possible, be it through Aura or Semblance. And that's the point to be driven into various characters. The dynamics at play are simply not the same between him and the rest of the world. Though as he's used to being isolated, he focuses on the opportunity that has been granted by the providence. >2) Your character has a fairytale, right? How much does it come through in their design or story? He does not. He is an amalgamation of other things that you could make a fairytale from. His first name pertains to a colour that is made impossible within the gaze of the yearning, burning sun through the continuous will and imposition of that star has been with the human race since its beginning. His second name is the title of a story-making tool that lets one write the fate of two cultures of beings that saw man's works and imitated them to survive in a world where in the harshest places, it was advised to sharpen your incisors - as the humans did not survive, and neither would someone who didn't prepare for the worst. >3) Tell about your character's weapon and how they use it. Did they make it themselves? Hand-me-down? Standard issue from an organization? He says, to the ones that decide to listen, that talent you have naturally - from the nurture of your parents and the nature of what you grew up around. Skill, however, is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft; hours that this character did not have when learning to defend himself. And that is how his weapon came to be. Blending the combat functions of the basic weapons he was given by the Family that saved him from being effectively stranded, it is not like the first of the attached images, but they serve well enough as a close approximation. An elegantly simple amalgamation of two butterfly-linked curved swords, nearly four feet across its outer circumference when fully unfolded. Based on the Bat'leth of Star Trek, it will adhere to the It's Also A Gun rule by having integrated into its foldable halves the chambers and firing assemblies of a pair of 55-round Kriss Vector .45 submachine guns. When not in use, folding the two halves together to a resting/safety position will make it vaguely resemble the beam sword of a Sangheili from the Halo series. >4) Answer the Faunus Question Please listen again to Reagan's speech detailing how We Must Fight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDVT-8tUfiE Every sentiment therein applies to how the White Fang are right to be a global counter-exploitation insurgency. Though, someone moulded by the product of ten thousand years of organized warfare sure could offer some pointers, and demonstrate how to succeed in earnest. To Apo's perspective, the human beings of Remnant have had proof at their side that the human species is not alone in the universe since their early eras. And what have they done? Same shit, different planet. That is a mockery of everything that someone from this character's home could stand for. >5) Does your OC have a team or is it just them? Tell about the team and if it has a cohesive theme/style/concept. As the fic is a crossover between a strategy game of cities and armies, I'm going to break from most RWBY fics and have a lot of focus be on large scale militarized force in motion. The majority of focus will be the life and times of the founding of the first International Legion - from the crucible of contracted warfare against warlords in Vacuo to making a difference to the ongoing effort of Aside from what will become available to Apo, the two main halves of this Legion will be based first on characters from World in Conflict, and then later acquiring something that could be found in the Global Liberation Army of Command & Conquer: Generals. He will not be a general, or even the idea of a Huntsmarshal that I've been toying with. Apocyan is nothing other than the contractor of two battalions of what will fundamentally be a paramilitary force.

Just as a note, I've been updating >>1827 with other CYOAs for RWBY that I find.
Now that I think about it, it's been a hell of a long time since the Beacon Quest CYOAs. If people are interested and there's enough folks we could do that, collab with >>>/cyoa/ at some point
I was rewatching V8 with some folks recently and in V8C7 "War" we hear Tortuga mentioned relative to Harriet; the former Ace Ops member that Marrow replaced. Maybe I'm wrong but it felt like it was hinted that Harriet was Tortuga's unofficial partner or friendly rival, perhaps even lover. But of course we don't get anything on their character. There was no concept design made for the character, or details so we know nothing about them, sex, age, weapon, semblance etc*. Fanart tends to make Tortuga a woman usually with a shield like 'weapon' (though ironically I have yet to see a faunus interpretation given the animal name). The woman part is cause of the 'a' ending, which typically indicates an effeminate noun in Spanish, (as is the case for Tortuga). However there's also speculation it was a guy; the Strong, Slow, Big, perhaps Calm and Wise Turtle/Tortoise vs the Fast, Small, Hot-Headed Harriet Hare. Male vs Female. *The best I've seen in this department is (pic 3 rel) https://aminoapps.com/c/rwby/page/item/tortuga-three-musketeers-ver/eYY3_VQPs6IRp10r80D5ow0P3vMPMx3NPP And even then it's only the best in terms of detail put into it. Massive Gen:LOCK vibes from this one. The common shield idea makes sense (turtle shell), and might have been a good comparison to Jaune. I'm guessing the idea however is too close to Elm's. As a counter-idea to all of these, having Tortuga being ironically also a speedster would be interesting, Harriet's partner being the only one to match her. It would be interesting for Harriet/Ruby shippers too. Edit: Going off >>3628 and the above, if Tortuga was a faunus I think the most obvious trait to give would be a big shell, but possibly other traits (like an extending neck, kinda horrifying to imagine).

While I was making the Request Anchor pic for the art thread >>3541 I first searched for anything anchor related for RWBY that I could use but found nothing that quite worked for me, but I found some cool OC stuff, like anchor weapons. Reminds me of May from GG. For example this (pic 1 rel): https://www.deviantart.com/raighndraconus/art/RWBY-Scamp-Corsair-weapon-progression-592754567 Or this https://rwbyfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Bakunawa_Ningyo Or this OC weapon - Deep Abyss (pic 3 rel): https://aminoapps.com/c/rwby/page/blog/deep-abyss/wKK8_eQqCou0o60pRd1dolKYaLBxLxb1x0 Pic 2 rel is really impressive too.
Where the fuck are all the other OC anons lol?

>>3929 To be fair, even the RWBYOC reddit has been quiet as of late. There's a few quests on Fiction.live that I'm watching, but they've not updated for a while.
I wonder if there's a similar set of rules as the Color Naming Rule for Semblances. My reason being that Monty's semblance names usually had more pizzazz like Petal Burst.
If there was ever a place for this, it is here. On top of this being the depth needed to explain my problem with things, it astounds me that the exploited minority group of this setting were marginalized by the writers themselves.
>>5146 The entire fucking show was "potential unrealized" this is well known.
>>5154 I posted that to try answer the weakest Blake hater back in the main thread. I'm also apparently too retarded to link properly.

>>5452 Listing what I've seen as the shipname: Fast and Furious, Lightning Speed and Red Herring, the last of which doesn't make any fucking sense as a name. As an aside - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_y1Xq5tT-0aSYdsml6LdcGeJD3mmefHsPa5tjGHTuoQ/edit?gid=0#gid=0

>>8307 Alright, here we are As promised many moons ago, along when I explained TGWP by Ryuugi and de-tumblr-ed Judgemental Critter's video essay, here is the outline for how my fic will hijack the rails of canon. >Act 1 is about meeting the point of being self-sufficient. >Act 2 starts with business in Vacuo drying up. >"Why did you uproot from the Bend of Sanus to head all the way to Vale?" >"I saw through vision that I had to." >Proceed to Vale to avert canon. >If capability for visions isn't actually obtained, things will be very fucky. Interested to figure out how to navigate the affair if otherwise. >Gridsquare village fills in the space between scene-painting through normal prople in conflict throughout Vacuo and the wonderful fairytale that's full of charm which is Huntsman fairytale shenanigans. >Initial scouting of Mt.Glenn. Whether or not Luck is rolled as one of the trainable skills acquired has yet to be seen. > Adam and Roman being cowed by Cinder. Pretty funny that the scene was cut wholesale from the volumes. Namely, Adam's wooden "I can make them listen" at the planning table after Cinder's prompt which was there to show his participation in Cinder's plans for Vale was not willing. >Intervention. Getting into their heads, maybe literally depending on whether or not Diplomacy is gained as a trainable skill. Or Hypnosis. >The Plot To Bring Down Cinder = She might be a maiden, but she still needs to breathe! >Deception following this. Need to figure out how to bullshit Adam and Roman into playing along. >Post as an Agent of the Kingdom. Bureau of Vale Kingdom Security. You see, where Mr St.Sangue prefers a covert touch, Mr Vickers has no patience for dawdling. >Proceed to head to the Vale Council. Convince them to form said Bureau in order to cover up the fact that no such agency exists. >Wrangle Adam and Roman with a new deal - one they'd be stupid to refuse. They may hate each other, but what they can accomplish together can benefit both themselves and the people. >"There's assholes inside the kingdom, and assholes outside the kingdom. Me and my colleagues...? We're the fuckin' pivot." >Toreno moment. I savour the prospect of writing of this bit >Bust exploitation rings. Trafficking. Robbing of targets that the normal Kingdom Security Forces have no means of reaching. >Essentially? Payday in RWBY, semi-legal edition. Second half of the act kicks things into action. Namely, through handling Cinder with Ozpin. >The Maiden powers come to be revealed... after Ozpin gets asked how did he managed to split magic away from himself. >By all accounts, it shouldn't be possible. Capability with magic is to do with practice and developed expertise, not inborn ability. >A Barbarian can still learn how to cast Town Portal and Armageddon. It sure isn't easy to accomplish, and specializing in it gets the best results from the action, but the capability remains. Hell of a surprise to think your enemy's been outfoxed and surrounded, only for them to Dimension Door their way past your backline. >The reveal comes. The mutual capabilities of him and MC. >There are differences. Debate proceeds, in which it will be demonstrated why I dislike Ozpin on a personal level. >But the big damn moment is when I recommend to put Cinder into the Aura Transfer machine, but don't activate it just yet. >Cast Sacrifice on Cinder. Machine activates, putting the soul and partial Maiden power alike into Amber. >Cast Resurrection on Cinder. >Through intimidation, make Cinder cough up the communication method she has with Salem. >Make an offer. A bet. Sure hoping Diplomacy is one of the upgradeable skills rolled, because there is no damn way Salem would agree to it normally. >Salem holds back her attack, in exchange for joining Ozpin and MC in an endeavour to determine what's the deal with magic. >To flex that between the three of us we can do anything regarding it, Cinder can have the full Maiden power. She'll even get a concentrated effort to understand Fire Magic as the skill might be imparted. >Bet that in the month of time until the Vytal Tournament's end, Beacon can teach MC how to fight like a martial, as opposed to the distant strategizing and casting that will have been done. >Likely that Salem will argue the arrangement has nothing to offer her. Tell Salem that Cinder was Sacrificed to make Amber whole again, before being Resurrected by me. >Suspension of disbelief will be strained here, as the notion that Salem would put a halt to her effort in finding the Relics to find out just what's going on with my abilities, and temporarily truce with Ozpin to do so, is unlikely at best. >After all, the HoMM3 spells are designed to impact entire sections of battleground. You can sacrifice thousands of Familiars to resurrect a bunch of Devils, after all. >Vytal tourney fight. Tell people that it's an exhibition match, lying that it's the end result of a years-long program centered around pushing the limits of what Aura and Semblance are capable of doing. >Also tell people that they should be slapped if they hold the youngsters up in comparison to the demonstration. I genuinely can't decide whether or not Cinder loses. What she can accomplish will be boosted, but at the end of the day she will still have at most a fifth of what a soul is capable of. To demonstrate how much power will be attained, consider that with this much written just to outline it all, this is a fic where with every 2k words written (not at a chronologically consistent rate! Important.) another dice-roll of some capability gets zapped to the protagonist. Still, all of this accomplishes the derailing of Cinder's plan to bring down Vale, the long term action of tossing Adam into evil by insanity and no way back syndrome, and Roman's death. Adam will go on to do somewhat calmer WF things - raids are all well and good, just having the man be more keen to report nutjobs to police and leave violators for police along with evidence of their wrongs against faunus. I'd like to say it's a bit better done carrot and stick approach in-setting, lol Is it a power fantasy of a fix-fic? Hell yeah. I want to read a well done one, so I'm writing one. I got recommended The Pen And The Sword a long while ago, and that was great but I lost the interest I had when it went Marvel about it. Literally, the author describes it as so because he loves Marvel and the MCU.
>>5189 >weakest Blake hater Blake sucks. Why do nerds keep on liking awful women? Masochism?
>>10318 >>"I saw through vision that I had to." Has "it came to me in a dream" vibes. >A Barbarian can still learn how to cast So then magic is widespread? Seems you're leaning heavily into a DnD aspect. >Resurrected by me. Shouldn't that have a significant cost? It's not just waving your hand and reanimating skeletons, you're outright returning someone to life. >To flex that between the three of us we can do anything regarding it, Cinder can have the full Maiden power. Don't the Maiden powers and the purpose of splitting Ozpin's power to other people lose all meaning when magic is much more widespread here? The Maiden's having a meaning in RWBY was due to them being the only ones on Remnant with Magic outside of their originator Ozpin and Salem, and being therefore incredibly powerful. Honestly, having read through this the first half sounds really good, like a grittier and more expanded version of RWBY itself. The second half feels quite confusing. >(not at a chronologically consistent rate! Important.) Huh? Why is this emphasized like a CSS code lol?
>>10325 Let me get you a video describing how the game system I'm crossing over into the RWBY setting is described as the torture porn of turn-based strategy. https://youtu.be/sw8v5__Ytf4 >"it came to me in a dream" KEK It basically fuckin is. Not gonna lie >magic is widespread? Not at all in Remnant. That's a thing to get started again long after the events of the story finish. One thing to set apart elemental from Remnant magic is that Ozpin and Salem are actually able to create new spells. MC is locked into a growing but inflexible capability for very specific effects, scaled down or up as needed. For starters, Ozpin made the Vaults to go with the Maidens. Something like that isn't possible for a HoMM3 caster. Summon a bunch of elementals to no-sell one of the biggest strengths of Grimm? Sure thing. Town Portal plus Dimension Door to turn yourself into the turn-based strategy version of an ICBM? Doable! Granting other people the ability to metamorph into animal forms? Lol, LMAO even. >the Maiden's having a meaning in RWBY was due to them being the only ones on Remnant with Magic That's the funny thing, and something I'm emphasizing. It is earth-shatteringly important that Salem/Ozma and the HoMM3 magic *do not work the same way.* And more importantly, this won't be realized by them. The two ancients may have hunches and could make educated guesses about it, given that they themselves don't fully remember their first lives. The MC will make the mistake of not thinking on the matter, past believing his own supposing that Salem/Ozma got the domestic/private/civilian version of magic, while the MC got the explicitly military version of things. The biggest telling sign of it is that HoMM3 magic, literally, applies to entire stacks of units on a map. The spells are purpose designed to be used to army-scale applications. Imagine forcing Grimm to frenzy and attack the nearest target, which would be other Grimm. Imagine making a whole army fly, or walk on water, and it being doable as long as you finish the day on a normal land tile. ... all that, and I didn't actually address the point. Fuck. Alright, consider it like this - the Maiden powers sure don't turn worthless just because this new set of capability comes around. Consider the fact that unlike the spell system of Heroes of Might and Magic 3, Maiden powers don't decrease in power and don't have a spell point cost. >The second half feels quite confusing. Oh thank goodness. I may have written all that past midnight my time, but in my head, that whole thing is a plot straight out of Metal Gear so I'm happy not everything's clear. The spoiler shield remains! >Shouldn't that have a significant cost? It's not just waving your hand and reanimating skeletons, you're outright returning someone to life. Part of how busted the system is. It sure is difficult, as even with expert Earth Magic the cost doesn't get below 16 Spell Points in the HoMM3 system - and that's most of what a Level 1 hero starts with. But let me say, it is a nice treat to end the battle with near zero casualties despite the weakest troop stacks taking fire throughout the whole battle. Also funnily enough, health-increasing artifacts like the Ring of Life, Ring of Vitality, Vial of Lifeblood, and their combination the Elixir of Life, mean that less units will be resurrected at the casting of the spell. >>10324 You really should stop being so hard on yourself, Blake. It was all literally outside your ability to do something about.
