I agree with this sentiment. I browse neocities and when I encounter tranny sites... yeah, they look embarrassing but I can't stop thinking this isn't fundamentally different from that guy with a Card Captor Sakura themed blog 25 years ago. I bet most people found my shitty blogs and youtube page from when I was a teenager awkard. And I know, it's dumb to regard sexual identities the same way as fandoms but it's what it is at a fundamental level (I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with this observation).
I honestly do not understand why people like OP have so much trouble ignoring the things they don't like from the internet, for me it's pretty easy, that's the first thing I learned when I started browsing the internet aside from "don't express publicly what you don't like, otherwise people will post it just to spite on you".

Honestly the guy sounds like a pedantic pessimist (and I wouldn't be surprised if he's also a teenager larping as older). Nobody is born with the idea of what internet should be, otherwise he's implying all the people working on outside-big-tech sites are doing it because of nostalgia and nothing else. You have to teach younger generations how internet should be run and why and that's a doable.
Regarding forums, I've been setting up a home server and I've browsing a lot official forums from the projects I'm implemeting, namely Kodi and Openmediavault, they are pretty cool, a lot of people who actually know about computers.
