How? The EFF is a different party from the ANC, it's not like this is post-WW2 Germany where any communist or nazi party was just banned from being allowed to form. The only reason the EFF has any political strength at all is because the ANC is so hilariously corrupt and ineffectual that the people have seen it as having failed them (and they're not wrong). The funniest part is the ANC is already a Marxist party, and the EFF's answer is...to double down on Marxism and be even more red. Because you know, that'll surely fix things.

Well the media would react badly but at the same time the US doesn't have hate crime legislation unlike SA so there would be no way to actually use the law to punish him for saying it.
I know people sometimes forget this but in America, you actually have the legal right to be a racist. You have the right to be a homophobe. You have the right to be an antisemite. That isn't to say there aren't social ramifications for that because most people don't like associating with those people, but legally the law isn't supposed to be allowed to touch you for being those things. Hate speech is free speech, unlike in most of the world.
