Zegapain Statement Alpha Anonymous 04/18/2025 (Fri) 19:41:52 No. 534
To the 3 or so anons that care about this, subs have been out for a couple months already and didn't know because no one bothered doing a torrent with them. Film can be found easily on Nyaa and subs here. https://www.opensubtitles.com/en/subtitles/12945696-zegapain-sta?download=1 Was going to do the thread before but [current events] happened so yeah. At least i finally watched it. It's not good
I have many complaints. >1 The duration. Despite the file saying it's an hour and a half, the first 25 minutes are fucking recap of ADP and the 06 show. So in reality, it's only 1 hour of film. This is just not enough time. The film has a lot of ideas that wants to explore, mainly related to the new Olta Moda villains, but it just doesn't have the time to do anything with them. They just appear, say their power, do it and then leave. >2 The movie considers itself as an 'episde 27' of sorts, but the whole thing is just so weird and jarring. THe first half of the film might as well be a different show, like some sort of S-Cry-Ed Derivative: an informatic themed battle shonen. And the whole thing just feels forced. You mean to tell me that they managed to salvage enough Kyo 1.0 data to create a clone of him? What happened to the thing that Meta-bodies cannot be copied like that? And suddenly Naga/Gard ORMs invaded another dimension and casued everyone but the main villains to die and they want revenge? What do you mean abyss and some Gard ORMs are working alongside the Celebrants? Since when? why? Again, no time to explore and these new ideas just feel forced. >3 The climax is just forced. Instead of even threating the Olta Moda as the main villain. The movie instead prefers to pull a Gard ORM ai from the games and the movies to be the final boss, shafting the new guys. They don't even get a good resolution they just leave the dimension saying they'll come back

But above all, what i dislike the most is what the movie does to Shizuno. In the show, she is fully aware that the Kyo she loved (and loved her) died when he blew himself up during the attack on G-phaetus. She comes to terms with it and makes peace with Kyo 2.0 about that. Eventually gives her 'life' knowing that an AI like her has no chance of becoming human. Ironically, her surviving but free of her memories is both tragic but also a blessing, free to live a human life and able to move forward with the chance of actually becoming human, something explicitly said in the final episode. The movie decides to ignore all of this and sticks her with the salvaged Data of Kyo 1.0, she regains her memories for some reason and decides that she won't become human and would rather stay with her Kyo. Both fuse of sorts becoming a single meta-body of sorts and decide to spend the rest of their existence in the backup server of maihama in shibuya until it breaks down This is dumb, i hate it and goes entirely against the point of the original show and feels awful for both Kyo and Shizuno. >TLDR It's not a good film. Too many ideas, questionable development and not enough time to explore anything. Should have been a 12 episode show at least.

>>943 Actually, i think this is a repurpoded pachislot plot. I've been reading through the artbook and the 'Zegapain 2' part, a pachislot released around 2022, uses practically everything shown in the film. The movie bd also includes the animation shorts for the pachislot as a bonus. This not excuse for a poor plot, given they had the chance to polish it. >Also Based chinks did their magic again scanned/ripped the Reunion Archive Project artbook and is probably the best compendium of artwork and material for the show and movie. I do recommend anyone that liked it to give it a read.
