Why do you think Japanese Waifuism is looked upon with curiosity and interest, while Western Waifuism is immediately viewed as shameful and cringe?
6 posts and 3 images omitted.
>>71595 I think you’re right regarding the context surrounding the publicity of these stories, however a main reason I think specifically American media targets these stories in the light of Japan is because of the fact it frames this phenomena as an East-Asiatic cultural difference, which removes it from the greater context of our own society on account of it being ‘over there’… Which is why I don’t think an American would ever produce a similar feelgood story on another American. While out there it is unique and playful, over here it is degenerate and shameful (in the eyes of the average tabloid media consumer)
(82.66 KB 1016x412 Untitled.jpg)

North American media, did cover waifus August 2021 The United States left behind billions of dollars of American military hardware in Afghanistan Waifu Dakimakuras are American military hardware
The funny meme is that normies think both are shameful and cringe, but you notice it a lot more with western compared to anime because you don't go out of your way to read jap salarymen talking shit about neets in his country. Akihiko Kondo is a feel good story about someone weird like >>71595 said, but it's not the norm and will probably never be the norm because as long as we have teens crushing and doing waifu of the week, megapoly bullshit that has no place here much less so in the real world and trolls running rampant we will just be seen as laughingstock. The problem with getting accepted is probably deeper rotted than that and would take an essay in and of itself, but those are just some pretty glaring superficial problems. Do I care that things are like this? Not really. I don't have much of an interest in wanting to fit into institution labels for married or whatever the fuck, they can label me as single my entire life. Life is what actually happens when you live it. Waifuism being normalized will not stop retards from throwing a fuss and calling us incels. Like I give a shit about their opinion. Sorry for the doomerpost. >>71602 Why do I recognize the image

Your waifu’s mornings. 16crystals 06/07/2023 (Wed) 02:41:40 No. 71541 [Reply]
What does your waifu’s typical morning look like? And what would her perfect morning look like? Examples of things to consider: At what time does she wake up? How long does she stay in bed? Does she have a specific breakfast? Does she do a specific activity?
1 post and 3 images omitted.
>>71541 >What does your waifu’s typical morning look like? Canonically she's a high school student in her last year, but its not uncommon for fanfics to depict her as going forward with university first and then a job as an English teacher. So yeah, she's supposed to rise and shine relatively early every day, although she needs some help in getting dressed Her breakfast would probably be tea with something sweet She is something of an early riser, so I can imagine her going for a nice walk before she actually has to be anywhere in particular, especially in the weekend. Money is not a problem for her, so after high school she would certainly live somewhere cosy with little traffic noise
>>71541 Typical morning: In her average day Miku would wake up around 8 am, she certainly likes sleeping, would stay on the bed easily around 20 minutes with the excuse of "5 more minutes", after waking up she would do her normal routine like most people you know, brushing your teeth and all, after that it would definitely be breakfast, something sweet like sweet tamagoyaki or bread with jam, after breakfast she would usually do some light exercise and after that onward with whatever the day has to offer. All of this with some music on either speakers or headphones as expected. Perfect morning: In such a morning she would wake up around 10 am and would laze around on the bed more than usual, after quickly doing her normal routine it would be breakfast, probably something sweeter than normal so things similar to dessert rather than breakfast, foods like eclair and similar sweet baked goods after breakfast she would either go back to bed and just listen to music, watch tv etc.
(1.08 MB 1920x1080 annroom.webm)

At what time does she wake up? Ann wakes up early for school like the other students. On the weekends she might sleep in, but the exhaustion of phantom thief activities might lead to her sleeping early. On the other hand, maybe the stress of the things she goes through could also keep her up at night. How long does she stay in bed? She doesn't seem like the type to stay in bed unless she has someone to spend the time with. Or maybe she might play games or use her phone in bed. Does she have a specific breakfast? Ann lives with a caretaker who likely prepares meals for her, though she knows how to cook too. Because of that, she probably has a good breakfast every day of whatever she could choose: anything from steak and eggs to french toast to yogurt and fruit. I think she could even enjoy something like a sugary cereal. Ann enjoys all kinds of food. If she got serious about dieting it would be something nutritious and low fat. Does she do a specific activity? I don't think she needs to put too much effort into her appearance to remain beautiful. I'd guess she bathes at night to relax and for the convenience of not having to rush it in the morning. She has an effortless beauty and sense of style that let her get out the door quickly. Ideal morning Waking up in bed at the same time as me, only vacating it when we're ready to start the day. Maybe she might enjoy some breakfast in bed if she's lucky. Afterward, she would style herself however she liked and plan how we might spend the day together.

the waifuist in its natural habitat Anonymous 03/28/2023 (Tue) 13:39:16 No. 71434 [Reply]
sometimes I amuse myself with the thought that we're just more complicated human versions of Harlow's monkeys, the cloth mother being not "real" in the traditional sense but the monkey loving her nonetheless. I suppose a deeper analysis would suggest that it's not exactly the same though, because although me cuddling daki might be regarded as similar behavior I typically do it as a proxy of cuddling my waifu and not the actual pillow object. which raises the question of whether the Harlowian monkey is cuddling the cloth mother or its 'idea' of a mother, but I digress anyway, there are other examples of mimicry out there. I think one of the most applicable ones to waifuism is the bee orchid/mirror orchid, which attracts male bees via physical appearances (it looks kind of like a bee I guess) and pheromones similar to the female bee. while the bee attempts to "mate" with the flower it sticks its pollen onto the bee which it will eventually carry off and transfer via contact with another flower. so I guess my point or question is that as much as I like to think of my waifu as my soulmate, maybe the factors that lead to love for a fictional character are more 'primitive'? and is the primitive-ness of this mutually exclusive with the idea that my love is more than just a bunch of emotions fueled by chemical and electrical messages in my brain?

>>71496 >Marrying someone you don't love is immoral and hurts all parties involved Convenience marriages are as old as society and they are not necessarily less stable than so-called love marriages. It's really hard to tell what "love" even is because all I see around me is a lot of shallow relationships, Tindering and divorces. You hear a lot of references to love in modern pop music, but such songs are composed by people who don't really believe in monogamy and enjoyed by people with a similar mentality Fairytale love stories probably only exists in very rural places devoid of a "nobody is irreplaceable" philosophy
(42.61 KB 981x479 death.jpg)

>>71496 >Marrying someone you don't love is immoral and hurts all parties involved this is why i want my waifu, she is the only way to make this type of hurting stop. 3D wifes have failed me, or rather i failed them >>71499 >"nobody is irreplaceable" philosophy this is the reason why we have 2D waifus. a 3D person will replace you, if a 3D person finds a person that is better than you, you will be replaced, a 2D waifu will never leave you. in your marriage, in your job, in your family.

>>71506 >a 3D person will replace you, >if a 3D person finds a person that is better than you, you will be replaced Personally speaking, that's not the entire story. I love my waifu in a way that I could never love a 3D girl, because girls like her do not exist or if they do, they are incredibly rare Mere loyalty isn't sufficient to be loved, there needs to be actual chemistry, even if it's chemistry between an individual and a fictional person

hi, guys, hecatiafren here! some may remember me from a while back, even though i never posted much. i guess i just wanted to ask for opinions? or i guess venting out a bit? either way, i'll get to the point and see where it goes! i did leave the discord a while back because i was inactive, and feeling pretty anxious about the amount of people being there, really not used to bigger groups. another reason for that was the fact i've been feeling really meh about heca lately, even before i found the board. guess it's because i've started seeing her way more as someone i would love to be friends with rather than a romantic interest, so i haven't really considered her a waifu for a little while. she still means a lot to me, though, and i find her to be a huge comfort character for me. because of her, i met a lot of great friends and all that fun stuff, and i have generally good memories associated with her. been meaning to look for another waifu, and even experimented a bit with self-shipping and going the harem route. even though those are fun and i found them emotionally fulfilling to some extent, i really want to find a single girl to stick to for a longer time again, didn't have much luck so far. some things are for certain though, the almost 3 years i've had with heca have been really nice! also, i want to take this slowly because i know these kinds of things shouldn't be rushed. guess i'll take it slow for a while longer and see where it takes me, just thought i should post here about it to get it off my chest and see what other waifufrens can say about it. sorry if it seems a bit disjointed or out of place!

In the realm of love, there's a soul mate divine, Whose beauty and grace are like the sun's shine, Her charm is a wonder to behold, Her essence is like the petals of marigold. Her eyes, like the stars in the midnight sky, Her hair, like the waves that rise high, Her voice, like the song of the nightingale, Her smile, like the sun's warm ray without fail. Her heart, like the river that flows, Her touch, like the softness of the rose, Her love, like the wind that gently blows, Her soul, like the calmness that nature shows. Her aura, like the colors of the rainbow, Her laughter, like the birds' sweet chirp below, Her intelligence, like the wisdom of the owl, Her strength, like the might of the mountain's howl. She is the one who completes my life, A partner, a friend, a lover, a wife, Her presence, like the sun in the sky, Makes my heart soar and my spirits fly. She is my guiding star, my compass in the dark, She is my anchor, my home, my Noah's ark, She is my rock, my shelter, my haven of peace, She is my lover, my soul mate, my heart's release. Her love, like the gentle rain, quenches my thirst, Her embrace, like the warmth of the sun, makes my first, Her kiss, like the fragrance of flowers, fills my soul, Her touch, like the cool breeze, makes my whole. Together we stand, hand in hand, Walking through life's intricate strands, Our love, like the forest's canopy, Protects and nourishes, setting their spirits free. Our love, like the river's flow, Flows through the twists and turns, aglow, Our bond, like the tree's roots deep, Keeps us grounded, and our love steep.

what are /mai/ thoughts on OC original character waifus?
(52.67 KB 176x187 Goth Tiff.png)

One of my best friends has an OC for a waifu, I personally don't mind them as long as they are sincerely devoted to them.
I'd probably be somewhat judgemental about the amount of lore said character has or even material, but other than that I don't find them as problematic. Kind of implying they're not the author's creation, in which case it'd be kinda weird tbh

Non-Waifu Dakimakuras Anonymous 01/02/2023 (Mon) 04:46:23 No. 71305 [Reply]
To all you dakimakura chads out there, do you own any dakis of girls that aren't your waifu? Do you regularly sleep with them in the same bed? Would you personally consider this to be cheating on one's waifu? Why or why not? Would you think lesser of someone who did this?
2 posts and 2 images omitted.
Maybe if it were of my daughters. Otherwise, I don't know. Good dakis are already a pretty big investment for a poorfag like me.
I accidentally have a daki collection. I own one of my ex, two of characters I liked years and years ago, plus the only extra is one of a friendfu I got gifted. I've seen other waifuists generally like sleeping with multiple dakis, in which case I don't really think it's cheating. I feel like it'd be the same as saying toys are cheating, or owning figures of other characters. In the end, dakis are kind of just a tool, I can understand why someone would want cute looking characters in their bed. I do not use said dakis, I just kinda keep them stashed away as mementos of an age gone by. I don't think I'd consider it cheating, but I'm just not comfy doing it myself, and I wouldn't think less of someone doing it.
>>71399 I'm in a similar situation where I have a few nendoroids leftover from before I got my waifu's big and sexy 1/6, but I don't add to that collection anymore I'd like to have every figure of my waifu, though the other ones are rare and practically nonexistent. >>71306 multiple dakis of waifu each for a different purpose is a good idea, but I'd probably cap it at around 3. and I'd probably have only one out at a time anyway, since i can't imagine myself splitting my attention too well between daki clones >>71305 >Would you think lesser of someone who did this? owning other dakis, no. sleeping with them? I might raise an eyebrow.
