>>18629 Depends, which Thatchermobile? I have two myself and I've only posted about them here once or twice. What country are you from? RX-7s here cost 10x more than RX-8s, usually more. My friend's RX8 cost him £400, though admittedly it needed a new transmission and rear suspension. I say they're an unreliable car but he took his around western Europe a couple of months ago and it didnt die. Still wouldn't daily it though. As a weekend car you're making a solid choice with the 8 anyway, the engine is tiny and so far back in the bay as to practically be midengined. My favourite thing about it is the sound though, it's really not like other cars. Before you buy one study all the buyers guides you can get, ideally you want to get the engine compression tested. Parts aren't expensive but a lot of mechanics wont touch a wankel so keep that in mind, you'll likely have to do your own spannering for anything involving that.
>>18636 I'm a burger. From the quick searches I've done, it seems like an RX-7 ranges from just a little more than to about double that of an RX-8 with similar mileage. I assume the variation is from the different generations of each car being better or worse. I've got a few buyer's guides bookmarked, probably won't seriously use them for another couple years but I'm glad I'm have them. >you'll likely have to do your own spannering for anything involving that. Yep, that's part of the appeal. I want to learn to work on my own cars.

Can you, please, advise a place in Italy where it is possible to spend a month healthily and interesting for children? What month is it possible to swim in the sea, but it is still not so hot? I am talking only about summer months, so as not to miss school. And I also think about bookingauto. What can you suggest on this issue? Where can I successfully rent a car for the whole trip in Italy?

>>18656 >handbrake That's sensible as long as the brake is actuated by your hand. Everything I own and almost everything I've ever driven has a pedal on the far left instead. Pic related.
>>18653 The more i think about it, both terms seem correct. Manual drivers can park in gear and their car will not roll off, as long as they are not on a steep hill. Shouldn't classical automatics easily roll away in gear even on level surfaces, because there is no clutch/hard connection to the engine but some weird liquid between the gearbox and engine?
>>18659 Putting an automatic in Park locks the output shaft in place and keeps it from turning, so a parked automatic shouldn't roll away. It's still necessary to use the parking brake on steep hills, to prevent undue stress from being placed on the locking mechanism.

Is Japanese car culture dying ? "The Japanese prefer to sit at their computers" Driver 07/24/2019 (Wed) 23:05:13 Id: 77c524 No. 18592 [Reply]
There's nothing more beautiful than a Japanese car culture in the '90s. Why? Because, first of all, it's just as expressive and unique as the whole of Japan. Country of the Cherry Blossom. Secondly, it still affects generations of motoring enthusiasts all over the world. Thirdly, she presented the art of drifting to the world. And fourthly and finally: she grew up on the cult models of Nissan, Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Honda and Mazda. Today, however, the Japanese automobile scene has now become a reality. a shadow of your old self. Why did this happen? Every motoring fan has probably watched all the parts of "Fast and Furious" several times. The third part - with the subtitle "Tokyo Drift" - presented a very attractive, though somewhat outdated, vision of Japanese car culture. Because all the best in this culture took place in the 1990s, When cars like Toyota Supra, Nissan GTR, Honda NSX or Mitsubishi Lancer dominated the roads. Young Japanese people had easy access to these iconic cars, as they came from their native country. Those who couldn't afford top models,

>>18630 Is early 20th century people were whining horses were going away too. That does not mean all the horses have been made into glue and now we have not a single horse in the world. Nobody will take away your car. Just getting a new one the way you like it will be difficult in the western world. A new car was never an option for me, and i will hold on to my 32 year old eternal rust-beating Audi 80 for as long as she runs. Then i will engine swap it, de-tune it, and run that until the day i die. My neighbour has a MK1 Jetta, and he sets a great example. He is well over 80, almost 90, but still drives weekly, spends sunny evenings in the garage sandpapering and painting over the tiniest pieces of rust.
>>18631 The difference is that horses went away because people switched all on their own. Car culture is going away because fun cars are getting regulated out of existence.
>>18631 Shut the fuck off. In the 20th century we switched to cars because it was better in many ways compared to owning a living breathing animal. "Our horses", the cars we like, aren't getting replaced in favor of something better. Our 21st century horses have aids, are fat and slow and it's in the government's best interests to keep it that way and slowly replace all horses with science lab grown bull terrier-ass horses that are fatter and have more aids and are slower and this time with brittle bird bones so they don't tire out as fast because they are fat. And because the government thought that all these genetic modifications would reduce the numbers of people falling off of them and reduce the size of their shits, and they thought wrong, they don't know what to do with these freaks of nature so instead they keep increasing the price of owning one until they can force all but the rich to use bicycles instead. Meanwhile a few 60 year old boomers that have amassed fortunes from before the world was owned by 4 companies and mid-western oil sheikhs can have stallions worthy of having a marble statue made after them. Will the future of the automotive industry be boring? Driver 07/31/2019 (Wed) 13:14:07 Id: ec610e No. 18632 [Reply]
Self-driving cars will swarm our roads within the next couple of decades. They'll be cheaper, safer, more efficient. Our grandchildren – heck, maybe even our children – will probably never learn to drive a car if they will live in an urban environment. While it's fun to think about in a futurism sense, there will be little excitement where the real change happens. Autonomous vehicles will, by their nature, be boring. For the most part they'll have utilitarian looks. They'll be quiet and electric, they'll be slow and conservative drivers. They'll basically be a more personal version of public transport.

>>18637 >nobody's trying to take your guns cars away! Except they literally are. Many shitlibs see cars as horrible, baby-killing pollution machines that pump out 6 million tons of CO2 per second. They have stated in no uncertain terms that they want as many people on public transportation as possible, and they want the rest to ride in self-driving electric boxes.

Thought I'd check out some of these online car buying sites because my buddy's looking for a new car with his only requirement being a manual tranny. Looked on "Carvana" with the manual transmission filter, and I'm not sure whether this is incompetence or malice, but I feel like a business built around cars with a supposedly rigorous inspection procedure would have someone who knows the difference between an automatic and a manual transmission. I was doubtful about these online services before, but wow, at least on craigslist I can go look at the car to determine if the seller is a huge liar before I drop $20k on it.
It’s probably a generic database photo of the interior and not the actual car for sale. The transmission is coded into the vin and most likely is accurate in the listing.
Btw a friend of mine has the Jeep in a 6 speed and it’s pretty badass.
>>18624 Unless it's something like an XJ or TJ with the AMC I6, it's Daimler-Chrysler trash that will grenade itself after 150k, max. Transmission might last 500k but who gives a shit when the engine is made of plastic and designed to fail?

And it actually looks visually appealing and with no direct inspiration from any one car in particular. It looks different enough from the real C8 that it's its own design in its own right, just like the IV and V cars of old. Plus it has a load of GT/race-inspired parts and liveries.

I drive a 2005 Ford Focus zx3, and holy fucking shit is it a pain in the ass to do anything on that car other than check basic fluids. The PCV valve is underneath the intake manifold. It's the main reason I still haven't replaced it. I guess one of these days once the weather gets cooler I'll have to suck it up and go for it. Today I recharged the A/C. It has a very slow leak, and about once a year the refrigerant level gets kinda low and I add some refrigerant and maybe some A/C oil if it needs it. The fucking low side port is up under the fucking passenger side wheel well. You have to undo a little screw to get behind the plastic panel of the wheel well. To get access to it, you have to turn the wheel all the way to the right or left. I prefer right. Then I undo the screw, but get this, IT'S A FUCKING TORX HEAD. WTF FORD. WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!? This isn't some delicate part that should only be touched by the hands of Ford's highest qualified mechanics. It's a shitty piece of plastic to keep dirt and shit from flying up into the engine compartment., which won't even happen unless you're driving backwards as fast as you can. It's also cramped and you pretty much have to put the hose on by feel. I guess you could jack up the car, take off the wheel, and completely remove the panel, but that's even more work for an A/C charge a fucking retard should be able to do in their sleep.
>>18610 >A/C charges being simple Have they ever been? Have not heard of A/Cs being user serviceable, because the refridgerant is unobtainium for even average mechanics. There are some dedicated places where i live where you can get your A/C serviced and only the A/C, nothing else. Regular shops don't touch those janky things.
(92.72 KB 458x750 question snake.jpg)

What's a good way to into servicing your own car besides watching the how-to videos on jewtube?
>>18611 What country do you live in? In the USA, basic A/C stuff has been easy to do since the switch to R134a back in 1993/4. You don't need a license for it like you did R12. I bought my gauge and hose setup, was well as the refrigerant at walmart along with some deodorant and a block of cheese.
