There's a reason "I'm the One" was written

>Nobody on the staff since Oum or Newville have understood the music of a good fight scene.
I agree, though to an extent I'm holding Jeff Williams responsible. Somehow his music lost its edge after Vol 3. It could be director's interference, but when you compare even the opening songs for the show, you can see he just lost whatever made RWBY music so awesome. In that sense I actually like that his daughter's band took over for RWBY's music. The soundtrack for the final fight in Vol 9 was pretty banger.
That being said, Oum was a complete genius. The way the music works with he visuals in the Red Trailer, and even the White trailer was a masterpiece. We can only curse Satan for persuading him with lust and causing him to import a cat loving ukranian wife.

I can't see any possible connection between Raven and JNPR. It could be one of Oum's weird ideas, much like introducing Raven in the first place. Then again, following the happy go lucky writing the first two volumes followed, does it really matter?
>Secretly working against Salem but pretending to be working for her
If left in the hands of compotent writers, this would definitely be an avenue they could explore. Then again, Raven not wanting to have anything to do with the ongoing war and subterfuge makes sense if you're considering the perspective of someone who was always taught to look out for themselves. That being said, Raven has maiden powers, and she couldn't have gotten them easily. She must have had some heinous connection with Salem to get those powers. IMO she chose them to be strong enough to keep her tribe out of trouble, but that's a bit lame. Fighting in the shadows while always having some sort of edge over Salem doesn't seem to be outside of her machinations but it also puts her into a boring light of "yeah I don't like Salem but I won't do anything about her".
To pivot to the animation, it would make most sense for Raven to appear out of nowhere to attack JNPR for the sake of it. Not so much as a designated attack, but more of a "wrong place at the wrong time" type of situation. Fuck, most of the fights in Vol 1 and 2 happen that way. Remember they literally ran into Penny by turning a corner, and Sun showing up literally out of nowhere, and they played a crucial part in the finale of Vol 1. IMO if the fight is awesome, I can forgive narrative fumbles. Raven interfering with her badassery would 100% fit with the narrative, as proved in the Yang vs Neo fight.

Besides Yang's semblance being literally the red tearstone ring from Dark Souls, her semblance is actually a refreshing pivot from what MKEK made semblances out to be. It's literally a reversal of what I would call the "Halo Shield Syndrome", where semblance literally is just the shield from Halo and has to be preserved and serves as a temporary protection from damage. To have Yang power up the lower her magical protection is would actually be badass as fuck. Imagine her being at 1% of aura, and just enveloping whatever arena with flames of pure anger and power. I can think of like five fights where Yang's aura drops, only for the camera to cut into a close up of her red eyes and for her to turn the tables. It makes sense that she doesn't rely on her semblance because it places her in grave danger, but damn if it wasn't cool. It could actually add to her characterization as a reckless fighter. Fuck, I wish MKEK knew what they were doing. Imagine Yang losing an entire fight only for golden wind from JoJo to play and using her semblance to completely decimate her enemy.
