Is this the right place? Keeping track of where everyone is is so hard now.
>>1489 Oh, you came from the desuarchive link? But assuming you mean that this is where the threads have gone in light of the hack, then yes, consider this place a potential new home for the world of darkness threads. Sadly, time is the only one who can tell how many people will come here.
Gangrel is the best clan.
>>1502 In Masquerade or Requiem (Or both)?
>>1503 I have only played masquerade so that one. I don't really care for the chronicles of darkness.
I'm here from 4chan. Guys please talk me out of running an all Silent Legion Wraith game where the PCs all killed themselves on 4/16/25 so everybody thinks they killed themselves over Gawr Gura so they are assigned to all of the shittiest missions the Silent Legion has to offer and also need to convince their living family and friends that they didn't kill themselves over Gawr Gura.
>>1507 I am not going to talk you out of that cuckchanner that sounds fucking hilarious. Go do it and then tell us about it.
I hope more anons find their way here
>>1510 I'm here, brother.
Does someone have any insight into the GenCon ban on LARPing? I just learned that there policy is absolutely hostile to walking around and having fun while pretending to be a vampire.
>>1512 That is weird. I thought conventions were all for LARPers.
>>1507 If they do that, then everyone will assume they killed themselves because of halfchan getting hacked... Actually, never mind, that's probably going to make you want to play it even more.
God this is so strange, I already miss 4chan. I am glad to find this here though.

Fellow kindred, there's has been a serious breach of the masquerade.
So...what do you guys think about the time writers decided it was time for Saulut to be evil for the week and nearly nuked Asia?
SCHRECK.NET SERVERS LIVE AGAIN >>1747
>>1862 It's too bad we lost most of the regulars.
>>1881 Including the more infamous ones but I don't think this place has enough traffic for their presence to matter.
>>1528 The larp often conflicts with the rest of the convention, there is a reason why they are their own events. >>1751 >what do you guys think about the time writers decided it was time for Saulut to be evil for the week and nearly nuked Asia? I prefer Saulot as a good guy so... eh.
I'm thinking about running a Hunter the Vigil campaign using Demon the Descent characters as the antagonists for the hunter players. Any advice on not making this idea horrible?
>>2026 For the record, when you say DtD characters, do you mean actual unchained or non-fallen angels, exiles/slivers and other weird things from the gameline?
Are we unalive again? Good to see you all. I was wondering where you all went.
>>2305 We are more dead than alive but at least we exist. >>2026 Be careful of accidentally wiping out your players. DtD chapters and HtV characters aren't that balanced against each other.
So... what 'bout em Beasts?
>>2372 The Primodial are neat ruleswise but most of their lore is shit. That and they don't have a niche since Slashers, Horrors, Goblins and Goetic Demons do everything you could ask a Beast to do better than them. If you are taking the game less seriusly it can be fun but you are better off butchering it for parts, just like Dreaming for some reason. >>2305 >Good to see you all. I was wondering where you all went. Yeah, things could be better. >>1481 (OP) ><Do you miss CofD? Are you more happy with the upcoming Curseborne? Or is it somewhere in between? So far it looks ok but I don't think it has a big enough incentive for my group to swich over to it as our main game ><Should Curseborne be added to this general or no? Its close enough but the same could be said for other story path games.
>>2305 Newcomer to the thread who has never posted to 4chan here, certainly unalive. >>2372 They don't exist in my version of CofD. >>2380 Me personally, I am not opposed to playing or running it, but I am a bit soured by the sudden death of Chronicles (though I know it's Paradox's fault), which bears on how I feel about the game. Some of the mechanics of Storypath Ultra look nice, but others feel very unintuitive or clunky (the more WoD-esque handling of HP, for instance). One thing that I should mention is that Curseborne seems like it was built with the intention of having multiple types of supernatural in the party, almost bringing to mind the crossover play that many longtime fans of CofD tended to enjoy. Which I suppose is cool and all for people who prefer that to more thematically tight games, and I don't mind it myself, but I think everyone having relatively similar mechanics might dampen the feeling of playing different families.
>>2406 >One thing that I should mention is that Curseborne seems like it was built with the intention of having multiple types of supernatural in the party, almost bringing to mind the crossover play that many longtime fans of CofD tended to enjoy. Which I suppose is cool and all for people who prefer that to more thematically tight games, and I don't mind it myself, but I think everyone having relatively similar mechanics might dampen the feeling of playing different families. Thats because if it doesn't feel jank it doesn't feel like a crossover.
>>1481 (OP) ><Do you miss CofD? Yes, I would say that I enjoyed NWoD more on average. I'd go so far as to call Requiem 2e my favorite vampire game.
What type of abilities (beyond discounted Necromancy) does Half Life give you? Can you learn Wraith powers?
>>2372 I'm not saying I will deliver, but I have some homevrew shit to liven it up. I think there's a nugget or two in Beast that's interesting, but it's mostly trash. I like the idea of Dreamscape monsters, though. I bit of Lovecraft & a bit Freddy Kruger & a bit Sandman instead of tranny subversion abuse larps & it could have been better. Like, if Beasts could be dream/nightmare spirits that walk in a mortal shell & can explore the Lovecraft dreamland & yeah they might give people nightmares to feed on their fears or whatever but there could be so much more interesting things going on than just "hey I'm actually godzilla in my head & I'm gonna turn out the lights so I can hurt you cause you deserve to be hurt".
>>2678 >Can you learn Wraith powers? That would be neat but I don't think most STs would allow it. Also most Wraith powers kind of suck.
>>2415 To keep the conversation going, I take it you aren't into multi-splat parties in CofD. Is that right? I feel like CofD had managed to get a good midway point between WoD's general rule of different types of monster not having frequent enough contact and Curseborne's expectation that they are often working together. Play as Mortals was designed first and every other splat building off of that meant that each splat could feel similar enough for people to carry over knowledge yet distinct enough to feel like different species. Another thing worth mentioning is that they seem to be going for more of a nobledark angle compared to the grimdark that oWoD went for, possibly as another point of contrast. I have no doubt that people didn't entirely play Chronicles like curseborne was written to be played, but it does seem like they are pushin to be even more distinct from oWoD. >>2551 Cool to hear. Yeah. At least Requiem and Forsaken got a decent amount of official material out before they were canned. Mos lines besides that, you can count the number of books for them on one hand. I image that Dave Brookshaw will probably have to push Fallen Worlds out as an unofficial product like how some of Deviant's devs are making their own homebrew in light of CofD being nixed by Paradox. >>2680 I saw on storyteller's vault that someone did their own re-imagining of Beast, which de-emphasised the gratuitous reliance on other splats and went for something that might be a bit more like your idea. Here it is: https://www.storytellersvault.com/product/486922/Primordials-The-Beast-ReDreamed Me personally, I would attempt to write it something a little more in line with the Leviathan fansplat. But this might serve as a good point of interest for you.
>>2683 Is there any powers i can use with Half Life so I can stay ghosty yet still killed dudes in the Skinlands?
>>2678 >>2686 >To keep the conversation going, I take it you aren't into multi-splat parties in CofD. Is that right? I know this will sound dismissive, but they are ok. I just don't think they are worth the hassle for the vast majority of chronicles. Even in CofD the one system where you have a good rule for interacting with other supernatural powers consistently. I think its mostly the fact that there is enough to work around the limitations of a splat to fit a concept. Let's say you have a Vampire who needs to interact with a Promethean-related plot, odds are you can make a Relic to play with them.
>>2693 You can fuck off into the ghost lands using high end Embody and a lot of ST fiat.
>>2720 I thought i couldn't get wraith powers? What about thaumaturgy? Can that reach across the veil?
>>2719 Oh, it's no big deal, I don't think you sound dismissive. I just thought you said you didn't like them, and you telling me that multisplat games are ok is alright too. I do understand that many storytellers will usually just use whatever system they are using to jury-rig things NPCs that come from other gamelines (IE defining Promethean characters statwise using Requiem mechanics), which seems to have been a suggested practice for a while. Also worth mentioning that I didn't even know that relics were an actual thing in CofD's blue books. Primarily since they fell by the wayside in 2E.
>>2729 >I thought i couldn't get wraith powers? Not by RAW but as usual, negotiate with your storyteller. The Arcanoi are neat some people would love to use them. >>2730 >Also worth mentioning that I didn't even know that relics were an actual thing in CofD's blue books. Primarily since they fell by the wayside in 2E. They aren't but you don't need to change much if anything to use them in 2e. The snag people tend to hit is not translating Derangements as conditions when those are relevant.
>>2736 I mostly just want to hide in the shadowlands yet fuck up a motherfucker in the skinlands during combat encounters, since 99% of enemies won't be able to reach me. Maybe use the CCTV ritual & a drone to cast thaumaturgy through it?
>>2686 >Me personally, I would attempt to write it something a little more in line with the Leviathan fansplat. Don't, Leviathan is a trash fire.
How would you rate as a background a weapon made to do aggravated damage to all supernaturals? https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Reliquary_(VTM) Something not that special except that it hurts everyone and is pretty durable. I’d say 2 dots, but three is also acceptable. At 2 dots = You posses a useful relic/artifact. At 3 dots = You possess a relic/artifact of significant power. Closest thing I found is the Crusader’s Sword. Which is a 5 dots relic. Thing is, it comes with other powers and effects, as well as it being brittle enough to get snapped in half if caught (almost assuredly if a supernatural has super strength). Would you be inclined as a ST to accept a cheaper option at 2 to 3 dots?
>>2902 I would use a Klaive as a direct comparison, which is a weapon that deals aggravated damage to anything and is made of silver, so it would be fairly durable when not activated. It's worth 4 dots, and you need to activate it first with a roll or spending a point of Gnosis, this lasts the scene. So definitely not 2 dots, and only 3 dots if it had a lot of restrictions.
>>2904 I see. That's a good guideline. I am surely reading the wiki wrong, but it seems that there are klaives ranking from 1 dot up to 6. What's the deal with the cheap ones? Plus many of the 3 and more dots klaives have additional special abilities tied to them. If the relic has no such thing, only AGG damage and durability, would it be logical to lower its cost to 3 dots instead?
>>2917 It's your game, so if you want to then go ahead. As per W20, normal 4 dot Klaives are not supposed to provide extra stats or abilities, whereas 5 dot Grand Klaives can. Baring in mind, gifts in werewolf are supposed to be limited in availability by their rank, and a Grand Klaive can sidestep that restriction, which makes them a big deal. I have no idea where you're getting cheap 1 dot Klaives from, could you link the wiki page for me? Looking at the wiki I usually make use of, there are two mentioned 3 dot Klaives. The first is a thrown weapon, so it's disposable in a sense, and the second has a raised difficulty to the standard Klaive, and hence it is cheaper.
>>2924 It's not for a game that I own or take part in yet. I ask just so I could see if I have a solid argument to a ST. And I think I got the wrong idea for the one dot Klaive due to the title of List of Hammer & Klaive General Fetishes in the Fetish wiki page. https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Fetish_(WOD) Looking at this wiki page, it indeed says that Klaives are 4 dots investment. https://third-dawn.fandom.com/wiki/Fetishes_and_Talens
>>2886 Leviathan has a lot of good lore but most of their stuff works better as a heavily modified changing breed. As is their forms are far too jank. The weird part is how the Mokole were right there to Ripp them off.
>>2902 >How would you rate as a background a weapon made to do aggravated damage to all supernaturals? 3 dot magical item. Nothing more nothing less
>>2962 >Leviathan has a lot of good lore Elaborate.
>>3129 They have a lot of what makes werewolves interesting, with more weird shit. Want a weird cult in the middle of nowhere? Here are 7 biologies and philosophies they might have with a large arsenal of powers and plot hooks use as an ST.
>>3129 The basic gist of it is that long ago, seven sea monsters ruled the world until the hero Marduk slayed them all, and helped humans take over. Now their descendants - known as the Tribe - are trying to adapt to the modern age, manage the cults of beloved that form around them, and deal with the Marduk society, a high-tech hunter organisation that's trying to get rid of them.
>>2964 Seems fair tbh

>>3222 While I understand what they were going for with Marduk society they feel off to me, to close to the technocrat and inquisition.
>>3274 Isn't that Mars War Logs/Technomancer in the second image?
>>3222 >>3276 >Isn't that Mars War Logs/Technomancer in the second image? yeah, it is a neat setting and you can run it with the sci fi supplements.
While we are talking about fan games I really like the idea of the alien: the stranded. It just sounds like fun trying to sneak around and avoiding CIA niggers. Or the FBI. I am not sure what agency handles aliens.
>>3307 Forgot the PDF.
4chan might be back but I will not forget this place.
>>3314 >>3308 >>3307 Is it any good?
>>3322 I wish I knew. Haven't played it. I think it is also unfinished.
>>3343 That's understandable. While I get what they are going for it just look very jank.
Any recent events you would use as a Pentex plot? I'm running werewolf in a couple weeks.
>>3307 >I am not sure what agency handles aliens. ICE.
>>3358 Perhaps something related to spirits of LLMs like chatGPT?
>>3358 >>3364 Corrupted Weaver pattern spirits masquerading as real people have been using social media to implant subliminal suggestions so as to influence the minds of unwitting users and make them more susceptible to possession and corruption. They might have been puppeting Zack Bergmark, internet mogul and founder of popular social media site Tetra-Canal. Your pack's mission is to infiltrate the headquarters of T-C's parent company Legi and assassinate Bergmark to exorcise the spirit possessing him, and to destroy its servers to end the corrosive mental influence it has on its userbase.
>>3367 Sounds fun.
>>3222 Generic lore. Wasted trips.

What are your experiences with Changeling the Dreaming? I have been skimming through C20 and so far it mostly looks like a narrower version of Mage.
>>3409 I get where you are coming from, but there is enough to work with and cut out the parts you dislike such as Marduk.
