Renegades Skirmish Game Anonymous 04/19/2025 (Sat) 00:48:27 Id: be4741 No. 1580
Free tabletop squad based skirmish game. Has anybody tried this tabletop game? It is pretty difficult to find it on the search engines and I don't even remember how I found it now that I think about it.
>>1580 https://www.playrenegades.com/ Here is the link. Sorry about forgetting.
I have tried it and I liked it quite a bit. It is really fun. I think i have played something like 10-13 matches of it in total and they were all pretty fun. I especially like how the game rewards you for being aggressive. If you get to the opponents spawn point you can stop him from getting any reinforcements. Depending on your opponents army this might just win you the game. I also like how lethal* the game is as long as no one is spamming hardened units. The only real negative I can think of is the units being mostly generic. No factions means it can get a bit samey. Although this might be partially me not experimenting a whole bunch. *There is something called hardened that makes it so any wound you take has a 50/50 chance to be negated. In our games we found that giving most of your units hardened was a pretty simple way to win.
>>1721 >The only real negative I can think of is the units being mostly generic. No factions means it can get a bit samey I think that provided list is there primarily just as a teaser to get you into game as quickly as possible. I am currently working on list for Combine vs. Resistance setup using Renegades as skeleton, since as far as I understood, the intention is for you to create your own lists and units and play with friends.
>>1725 I did not consider just making custom armies with the system but thinking a bit on it I do think it would be pretty simple. I didn't do it though, I just made lists. Resistance V combine would work fantastically for this system though. I can see it working out very well.

While we are here, this is the army lists that i had the most success with.
>>1580 Is that made by swedes? I remember some guy at a tabletop con handing out leaflets with the base rules. Never really took a good look at it though, do tell me more about your experiences with it.
>>1851 >Is that made by swedes? Looks like it, which is surprising, because the rules are not abstract mess heavily relying on roleplay as substitute for rules. >>1726 Yeah, I think, that rules are meant for hacking and kit-bashing. I already have Minions for Resistance vs Combine done (Scanners, Manhacks Turrets and resistance hacked variants) and basic troopers (Resistance Fighter and Civil Protection Officer). Now I am trying to figure out rules for deploying minions, equipment costs and associated special rules. I think Combine Soldiers will need to wait, since they are should be really OP (maybe as separate faction). Also nicely done list, going for the hardened spam with maxed Survivability, would be interesting to replace Tox with Shocktroops and instead of area of denial tox grenade, drop smoke and become the poison gas in form of hip fire.
>>1580 I posted about Renegades in the general chat of my LGS' Discord and nobody was interested. I even mentioned that the rules are free. Maybe people will warm up to it when Kill Teams start rotating teams away from getting support.
>>2771 The official GW position is that all teams will be supported until at least 2027, just compfags won't be allowed to play all of them at official events. As someone who tries to avoid playing against those types this is almost a blessing In addition I'd be very suprised if a new edition in '27 ends up being a total reset that doesn't allow any models from the existing teams to be fielded >>1581 >>1580 As a miniature agnostic skirmish game, what does this have over OPR firefight? I feel like it has less flavor and the lack of factions may lead to most teams feeling somewhat samey
>>2784 >As a miniature agnostic skirmish game, what does this have over OPR firefight? As far as I know from looking at the rules, I think Renegades seems more focused on being more flexible with what miniatures can be used than OPR FireFight. Which as far as I know, OPR FireFight is basically Kill Team backup edition. But in a way both of them are. I'll admit I haven't played either. Can't seem to find anybody interested in playing at the LGS.
>>2784 >what does this have over OPR firefight? It is a lot faster for one. Speaking as someone who played both I can probably fit like 2 matches of renegades in the same time it takes to play 1 OPR match. I think it would also be a lot more balanced. >>1851 >>1857 Looked up and yeah. The creator is apparently a dude who currently works at Dice. His name is Patrick Murphy, Doesn't sound like a Swedish name though. Might be an immigrant. Cover art is by one Joakim Ericsson which is definitely a Swedish name.
