Just catched Groundhog Day here on TV in my country .. and I'm wondering.. is there any more movies with this 'repeating the same day' theme? Not as good as Groundhog Day for sure.. but gimme some suggestions. I love time travel movies .. and this theme is sort of time travel

What are you watching? Anonymous 04/17/2025 (Thu) 22:49:46 No. 277 [Reply]
Post the last movie you watched and if you recommend it ITT >The Second Civil War <A rather prophetic movie regarding the corrupt political process of American government, but with mostly a comedic spin around it. Stars some big names like Phil Hartman, Dan Hedaya, James Earl Jones, Denis Leary (so you can tell the overall tone of the movie). A curiosity and most likely couldn't be made today. >Synecdoche, New York <You've probably heard of this movie but likely never watched it in full. Rather erudite and somewhat full of itself, will probably be hard to understand what the theme of the film is for most viewers, but it isn't incredibly groundbreaking, either. Has great acting thanks to Philip Seymour Hoffman, and is certainly an oddity, which makes it worth watching, but not much worth recommending.

Eyes Without a Face, from 1960 Christiane is a beauty, that alone makes it worth a watch

I unironically agree with Armond White JEWS 05/08/2023 (Mon) 21:36:24 No. 192 [Reply]
https://www.nationalreview.com/2023/04/tarantinos-no-sex-talk/ >Responding to an inquiry by Spain’s Diari ARA, Tarantino confessed, “It’s true, sex is not part of my vision of cinema. . . . If there had ever been a sex scene that was essential to the story, I would have, but so far it hasn’t been necessary.” >Earlier generations worried about gratuitous sex in cinema. Hollywood rarely makes love stories anymore. Movies are mostly Marvel Cinematic Universe confections, #MeToo diatribes, goofball comedies, leftist social dramas, or the routine excited response to Tarantino’s own highly influential violent escapades. They perpetuate a soulless eunuch’s view of art. >Public confidence in biology and sociology has been undermined, so the lack of sexuality in movies essentially means the lack of sensitivity and compassion and order. Millennials who don’t understand the dehumanization of Tarantino’s action-movie temperament are ignorant about what he leaves out. They don’t know what they’re missing. QT never asks the question at the heart of Godard’s Breathless: “What’s the difference between love and eroticism?” That no one in the media asks him indicts our times.

>>192 >Tarantino’s own highly influential violent escapades. Is he really that influential? Armond is right of course about the void in romance. Zoomers are the most curiously detached race I've ever seen.
>>941 >Is he really that influential? That's an interesting question. In the 90s I would say absolutely, but I can't say I can point to anyone still mimicking his cinematic style and writing anymore.

Now that the bots have been filtered, we can all agree once and for all this was a masterpiece right? No plinkett shitters in the way to contradict our widely accepted view?

>>652 >They completely missed the point that they were just supposed to be funny You're oblivious if you continued to watch RLM over the years and still don't believe ((Plinkett))'s opinions of the prequels align 1:1 with Mike's. Hell's sake there's a section he just interviews people (all Mike's personal friends who both share his opinion and would also wanna give the kind of reply Mike expects, obviously) and asks them to describe Han Solo and Qui-Gon Jinn without using physical appearence. It's a section that doesn't feature jokes and is meant to prove a genuine critique point (also please ignore the chick he interviews actually does describe Han physically). Mike said as much, that he created the character of Plinkett because he thought people would get bored with a regular review so he did one but sprinkled in rape jokes, which were meant as key jingling not to imply the opinions in the video regarding the movie didn't try to be sincere. You think the Half in the Bag where they invited the director of "The People vs George Lucas feat. "the George Lucas raped our childhood music video"" was also meant to be comedic? Stop coping, fren. https://youtu.be/OkW035f_hZ8
>>780 Well like I said, Anon. I considered the Plinkett reviews to be satire and never gave it more thought than what I already mentioned. I don't really follow RLM either. If RLM's Mike intended them to be taken seriously then I guess it utterly failed with me since it had the opposite effect. I'll always love the prequels in spite of their flaws. On a related note, I'm actually grateful that Disney's glorified fanfiction was so fucking awful that there was a newfound appreciation for the prequels even amongst those that hated them back then. I did notice that RLM also did reviews for Disney's slop, but never cared enough to give those a watch.
>>585 I've never seen it besides once when I was very very young so can't remember it at all but I have seen the original trilogy, everything I have heard about episode 1 and the rest of the prequels makes them sound really shit
