F zero 99 Anonymous 04/18/2025 (Fri) 17:13:27 Id: 0b7317 No. 1133698
A new update is releasing today. Any fzero bros survive the migration?

Calling it now, Big N is going to pull this game along with all the other online goodies from the Switch around the middle of the Switch 2's life, if not earlier.
i just continue playing Aero GX for now, it at least scratches the itch.
>>1134558 With the way they're behaving right now I wouldn't be surprised if that happens a year in.
>>1133698 So is Stellaview the actual official name of this shit or just what Nintendo's going with specifically for legal reasons?
>>1133698 OP is a lying niggerfaggot. I turned on F-Zero 99 and I do not see any update right now.
>>1158011 Sorry i thought it would be out by now. They didn't give a release date so I assumed it would be the day of

>>1133698 Good evening I'm a racist, I love racing
>>1133698 I always meant to get back into this game but I fear that it's played by TAS level players and times that would have got me top 3 will probably have me stumbling out of top 20.
>>1170588 It's just as you said but it's still a lot of fun.

Patch notes are here, NSO Icons are available, and tracks are automatically unlocked for practice from the get go, there are missions to unlock decals for the BS machines https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/63249/kw/F-Zero%2099

Classic Mode has Finale Tracks in the rotation, took them long enough
>Skipping the first u-turn on Sand Storm II Mirror is the intended way I fucking love these new tracks. The new cars, not really a big fan. It's good that the BS cars aren't limited to one color anymore, but having to redo the things to unlock them isn't exciting. I have a main car right now, I'm not going to redo this for cars I don't use. Especially since pro tracks don't count for the number of f-zero 99 races counter for no reason. >>1222614 Good. I got classic White Land II in a classic mini prix once. It was an absolute blood bath LOL.
Goosebros, how we feelin right now?
(1.82 MB 300x178 falcon out of gas.gif)

falcon player here, it wasn't a fully populated lobby, but I managed to get a Mirror Ace GP win the other night. With how insanely skilled the regulars have become, I'm content with just the one win. I get way too competitive despite knowing I'm nowhere near the level of the greats. Figuring out the par times for mAce tracks was pretty cool though; mS2 in particular is a brutal track. The section that splits between a dash plate and spark plates has this nasty jump you can do from the spark plates island by boosting and hitting the very edge of the jump (or if you're on Stingray you just drive through the sparks). You can skip part of the upcoming turn that way, but it's extremely difficult to avoid bonking on the rails or spinners. Real "risk a second or more to shave off half a second" levels of danger. It feels like GBA Mario Kart's Rainbow Road jumps. The par time is set so low that it's only barely possible on Falcon if you take the safer dash plate route, so I can only assume this was intended, especially with mSS2's jump near the start...

>>1222614 >classic prix with Silence 2 >15 players dead by lap 3 >frontrunning by several seconds >could win the prix even if I braked around every corner and skipped every jump >go for the jump cut, choke, and crash even if you're in first place, you can always go faster; you are your final opponent
>>1243769 >With how insanely skilled the regulars have become That's the problem why Nintendo doesn't want to make a proper F-Zero game with online. MK is easy enough, has tons of casual players and bullshit mechanics. 99 was fine as long as there were enough bad players, but even a 'free' game can't maintain enough shitters and no shitters means a miserable experience for newbies. I bet MP in GX will be limited to friends
>>1246339 It's pretty obvious that modern Nintendo doesn't want to put out a racing game where even a decent player will run away with the race shortly after the word "GO!" without some insane comeback mechanic like Mario Kart's items. They do not want little Timmy booting up GX and getting completely dusted by someone who put five minutes into the game.
(26.88 KB 640x486 fzero goroh.jpg)

>>1246339 >>1246456 yeah you're both right on the money; getting matched up against the best players in the world and god forbid TA god Stingrays is basically a game of praying they make a mistake; their game to lose, not yours to win. I'm actually happier without multiplayer and would love a version of FZ99 that was just advanced bots like what we saw with the star rivals; I had a great time with past F Zero games just fighting the CPUs and going for good times on the tracks, though holy COW the staff ghosts in GX can be rough. They even used advanced or fringe tech like hitting the edges of dash plates. I couldn't beat some of them "fairly" using the same machines even while using savestates and had to use stronger machines or aggressive shift boosting and MTS. Then the upper echelon of players that are way better than me, the absolute highest levels of skill and exploitation, can lap master CPUs on some tracks despite their bullshit perfect grip and TAS shift boosting on some tracks like Phantom Road. anyway, we already had a MK with this exact problem; it was MKDS and you either snaked or you lost, almost zero middleground. MKWii was a little more stable mechanically but had its handful of super shortcuts too. I think we might see a "full game" rerelease of 99 someday but I'm not holding out hope we'll see a new game. I really gotta give Aero GPX a shot; I've been putting it off since it's in early access but revisiting 99 has really encouraged me. Anyone got experience with it here?
>>1246631 To be fair, MKWii's item balance would often annihilate the frontrunner mere seconds after he takes the lead. It was a direct response to DS favoring skill so heavily. Fortunately F-ZERO gives us another way to play the game. Not as a racer, but as an enforcer. Even without taking the gold, picking the Wild Goose and just going for kills the whole time is incredibly safisfying. It was definitely the best way to approach an F-ZERO game with online multiplayer. On a side note, respawns are why I don't like GX as much. F-ZERO is not just a racing game, it's a survival game that perfectly captures the game's setting.
>>1248271 >Fortunately F-ZERO gives us another way to play the game that was part of my point. 99 can be fun without going for the win thanks to the rival mechanic or just fucking over other players, but you still need either full lobbies or at least some players on your level. There is no fun in kicking bots
>>1248573 outracing generic bots isn't very exciting, true, but the gold star rivals were cool

>>1133698 >Stellaview Can't even spell their own hardware right.
I wish they would have printed a physical version of this, like they did with Tetris 99
(48.71 KB 1280x720 black shadow.jfif)

>>1133741 I wish they did that too. Just make them reskins of the existing machines to not overcomplicate balancing. Maybe it would be too difficult to recognize other players' machines if there where so many though. Would be fun as hell to mess people up as the BLACK BULL.

Reminder not to forget your FZ99 NSO Icons, show off a bit more personality with your custom icons I’m also wondering when we are getting the supposed mini world tour event

Don’t mind me, just chilling in Silence

>>1262749 They might eventually; the gold CPUs seemed pretty experimental. Getting into lobbies and races is so slow in this game that it feels terrible to make mistakes in real matches, which doesn't mix well with toxic perfectionism at all, but a good offline mode with strong CPUs would be excellent. I'd settle for being able to play in practice mode with bumpers, too. >>1274854 that's too bad; at least I had my fun with it while it lasted
If you don't shout "BOOSTAH FIRAH" every time you use the skyway you're doing it wrong.
>>1274909 >I’m also wondering when we are getting the supposed mini world tour event I got a notification in game today that mini world tour is an event for next week.
>>1133698 What's this game? This is on soem of those virtual machine libraries?
>>1133698 >nintendrone shit
>I get a mini world tour with a good multiplier to other peoples skill balance >Third race the skyway drops me on a red bumper, right be fore a turn I'll cherish the badge I got from getting in the top 999 in the winter event. World tour is no joke. How are you faring?
