Monster Hunter Anonymous 05/07/2025 (Wed) 17:14:05 Id: 4fb009 No. 1328663
What do you think is the reasoning behind Capcom launching their games as sudo-live service? Just like World, Wilds came out incomplete as they release updates with content that should be there on release, but this time much worse. I don't know anyone who actually buys MTX for these games, specially on PC where a single mod or CE can unlock everything that is paywalled. And this is the least of the game's problems.
I wish I didn't look up builds for low rank mhgu, the bujabuja set is really good but I hate looking like a pimp. How far am I into low rank if my last monster fought is gore magala?

>>1328663 Crapcom have become goyslop purveyors. All they do now are remakes and rehash, and all worse than whatever they're remaking / rehashing. The live service dabbling, DRM anal abuse, and dubious stance on modding (the only reason their move recent games are even playable), makes them one of the more anti-consumer companies operating today. If they don't hit some major home runs before 2030, I doubt the company will even exist by 2040. >inb4 muh 10M* Wilds units moved >10M to kill a company's reputation is throwing the Modern controls out with the bathwater >*citation needed

No fucking joke, Capcom was going to host a lecture titled "Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization" They had to cancel it after intense backlash. I get Japanese devs are a few generations behind on PC what with focusing on console and mobile for so long, but come on. That's comical levels of done deaf.
>>1541054 >Crapcom have become goyslop purveyors. All they do now are remakes and rehash, and all worse than whatever they're remaking / rehashing Not surprising since like Squeenix, their western pandering and exclusion of any new games beyond their few big names, ran off all their talent. Does Crapcom have anything to fall back onto like Squeenix with mango or Soyny's banking? >dubious stance on modding I thought they were outright against it, which is why they've been putting DRM out of nowhere into all their games. >I doubt the company will even exist by 2040 You are generous as fuck; they can die so much faster than that if the Wilds issues have been affecting normies, and if they drop the ball with the next Resident Evil.

I never got past HR5 in P3rd out of pure laziness so i went back to it, and i didn't remember the early game being so fucking brutal (even though this is supposed to be one of the easier games), i don't even want to know how much i'll struggle in FU once i get to that game. >never have any money or materials despite hoarding the shit out of everything, even mega potions (i don't use them) >all the weapons bounce off of everything >even green sharpness is a commodity because every single fucking weapon has a tiny bar of it, all the way into village 6 and HR3 (i'm a LSfag so 30 seconds of continuous slashing is enough for me to wear down the edge) >probably game exclusive, but all the LR armors suck dick, or just aren't worth the hassle (ie several plates for rathalos) I'm making do with the narga LS and jaggi armor gemmed for ATK UP medium and that one skill that reveals the map (which is useless, but i got a outdoors +7). I'm not sure if you can actually get sharpening talismans this early, i've made several trips and i haven't gotten even one, either they're incredibly rare or nonexistent in LR. And before you berate me, i do know that if you use LS you should go for elemental swords, but all my swords lose their sharpness in a flash. I'm actually not sure if it was always like this it's been roughly 10 years since i last played this game or if the emulator is the problem. Not that i mind, i'm having a lot of fun still.
Hey anons, I set myself a personal goal to finally beat Monster Hunter World – Master Edition (base game + Iceborne). Problem is, I have no clue how the progression system works in this game. I’m an old-school MH player (XX, Tri G, Freedom Unite), so this whole new structure has me lost. I don’t want to pay $35 for PS Plus just to play a mostly dead multiplayer, so I’m going full solo. The issue is I don’t know what to do or how to progress efficiently. I’ve watched hours of YouTube and all I get is garbage guides or content creators shilling junk without giving actual help. If anyone can share tips on how to progress solo — gear recommendations, how to approach quests, what’s actually important and what’s a time sink — I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
>>1609422 I didn't care for Monster Hunter, I heard it's much better with a small friend group but the intro of these games are super rough. I'd rather play Dragon's Dogma again.
>>1609430 I get it — honestly, it sucks that you have to slog through the entire main game and all the cutscenes just to start making real progress. I think it’s because they didn’t want a repeat of the older games, where you’d grind guild quests, hit high ranks, then go back to story mode totally overpowered with a sword that melts everything.
>>1609463 Yeah, I'm just surprised that it has such a massive audience considering how much of a slog the early game is.
Oh, and here I am with baby 300 hours. >Gear Progression In LR and HR, focus on Attack Boost and Health Boost gear. Progress your weapons as normal. Defender armor and weapons are meant to speed you straight to Iceborne if you just want to rush it. If you own Iceborne, the game will automatically give you the armor set. The Defender weapons have literally a single item upgrade requirement, which will always be a monster's common drop. Moreover, their damage always puts them ahead of the gear you'd be getting at that rank. When you get to MR, the three first required quests are all done in expeditions for a reason, they you have unlimited faints since you'll be going into those instances with with HR or Defender gear, and that won't be enough to to save you getting 2 or 3 shot from Beotodus, Banbaro, or Viper Kadachi. Those expedition instances are special in that the targets never leave the area like monsters can do in regular expeditions, so take advantage of it. Seriously, take advantage of it, I made the mistake of taking Viper as a regular quest after sighting him, and I almost dropped the game for it. MR Jagras is easy. Farm him up as soon as you get into MR for his complete armor set because it has good survivability options like Health Boost and Speed Eating. Even if it's MR, Jagras is a punk. For weapon specific progression, there is a channel on YouTube, RecommendedPlaying, that has Iceborne guides. Ignore the postgame stufff in those videos, since the most optimal progression after Shara is getting to Raging Brachy and partbreak farming him. >Gameplay Progression and Tips Don't be ashamed of carting. Money is the only thing you lose for it, and money is worthless during progression. In general, the Bone tree has more raw damage than the Metal tree, but less sharpness. Learn that monster's attack in flowcharts, and at the end of the flowchart sequence, there's a longer delay between its attack and the next sequence. In MR, this delay is super tight, and when you "see" the end of a sequence, you want to place the monster between you and your Palico and use the monster's turn to claw-clutch its head. This is the time you want to learn clutch claw wallbanging, since the it deals flat+percentage damage. MR monster health totals are a slog if you don't regularly use wall bangs and the tenderizer mechanic. Tenderizing a monster gives its parts a cracked appearance and means your attacks won't bounce off that part. What's more, the tenderized part always counts as a Weakness for any armor skills that give you boosts for hitting monster weaknesses. Barroth is the monster you'd want to practice this with since he has parts where lower sharpness weapons bounce. The Hammer level 3 charge can combo into a tenderizer attack that also deals massive KO damage. Unfortunately, hammer is kind of boring since the most optimal play for it is level 3 charge and ledge jump attack head snipes. Head shots, head shots, head shots. The more KO downs you get, the more raw damage you can pile on a monster. You can also focus on ONE of the monster's legs to get a trip knockdown, which is tracked separately from KO knockdowns. Trapping monsters is faster than straight kills, and you can see when a monster is ready to capture by the number of slinger ammos it drops. After the third slinger drop, you can drop a shock trap and sleep bombs to clear the monster. People waffle about the rewards from trapping vs killing, but a majority of my playthrough was through trapping and I never had issues with progression. You can never trap Elders, though.
>>1609422 How exactly can a old gen player get lost on the second most streamlined game in the entire franchise? first, monsters get scaled down for solo players, so they are all on the same level as old village quests. second, game is easy as fuck and you can go all the way through base game with low rank armor having almost no problems. Iceborne brings back some of the difficulty in the story portion and it's end game is more or less comparable to old games, but at that point you have enough tools and resources to just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. you don't need to grind, any equipment is fine until iceborne and the quests works exactly the same as old games, find the monster and hit it until it dies. you are either lying about being a old hunter (or played the games without never actually finishing the guild quests) or you are just using it so people talk about World without transforming this into a shit flinging thread. I refuse to believe anyone that went through freedom unite would have any problem at all playing world.

>>1609816 I can't believe I have to upload a photo of my collection like I'm a 12-year-old kid, but never mind, let me explain what's going on. The game is designed for intense farming, and I need a build that will help me obtain the important items once I've finished the base game.
(100.43 KB 1280x720 OP.jpeg)

>>1609643 There is no better build than the defender's armor, and there is no need to use jewels. For example, in Monster Hunter: XX, I played solo up to rank G1, but I don't know why World requires jewels and that kind of crap. When I arrive at Fatalis, I will need assistance.
>>1328663 Check the fucking catalog, newfag.
>>1610027 Ah, okay, I'm starting to get it. >There is no better build than the defender's armor, and there is no need to use jewels. For now. Once you get into MR, gear matters again. That's why I said go for MR Jagras' set initially for survivability. Once you get passed the Iceborne story content, you get into the postgame and title update content. From there, you just rush to Raging Brachy, since his set and weapons are the second best in the entire game and set you up to take on Fatalis. Getting through all that is kind of weird. LR is just quest for quest until you beat Zorah Magdaros 2. HR is where the base game opens up and says "to unlock the next part of the story, collect blue tracks while running optionals." You have to unlock Pink Rathian, Nergigante, and the Elder Trio this way. You can farm those tracks just by going into expeditions in certain areas, collecting a guaranteed track spawn and reloading. So if you're skipping gear farming for LR and HR, it's still worth it to come up with track collection loops that also get you crafting items. By the end of HR, the game DOES expect you to be relying on Max Potions for healing and Demon Drug for damage boosts. MR is a mix of both progressions. You do several expedition hunts, then a set of quest-to-quest hunts, and then get walled by two track collection quests, where the game opens up a ton of optionals where you get some charms, upgrade your mantles, and least importantly, room decos for the Animal Crossing style house you get in Iceborne. It ends with a back to back of Nergi and Shara, and beating them opens up the Guiding Lands and title update content. The Guiding Lands is a postgame about grinding. You can augment your weapons with bonuses, attack up or health regen, but you have to grind for it. It's fairly simple though, you drop in, hunt monsters, and dig up bone piles for those items. You can spend literally hours in a single, uninterrupted session of Guiding Lands with a group, and I imagine that's where a lot of the acclaim came from.
>>1610058 I play on console, not PC, faggot.
>>1610068 That thread is still for general Monster Hunter discussion, so it's ok to post there and keeps the catalog freer
>>1609422 I went from Defender to Bazelgeuse armor in vanilla. In Iceborne it was Beotodus (a lot of useful skills)->Nargacuga->Any apex->Velkhana->Gold Rathian. As for weapons it doesn't matter. You'll be stuck with Kjarr or Frost Barioth to deal with the endgame content anyway. Plus, the update monsters have their own separate trees, so no need to look up what you need to farm. Decorations: Enrage, the one who reduces damage, attack, critical, and the ones who protect you from status effects against certain monsters (Brachy, Vaal). Learn to use the clutch claw and the slinger, they can literally save your run. The final moster is the best boss fight in the entire medium, and it will put to the test *everything* you have learned, so have patience, you'll make it just fine.
>>1610071 >>1610065 >>1609816 Thank you very much, I'm going to set the goal of doing the hunt alone, I know I can and thank you, what worries me most is the RM because even with the great sword of the ice shark, they leave me unconscious.
>>1610077 If you have earplugs you have pretty much a few free wallslams during a single hunt. You should do the high rank Lunastra mission to get the golden mantle. Longswords are overpowered, so if you are using Greatswords, Horns or Hammers you may want to learn how to use them as a backup. A monster at the endgame is a literal elemental damage check and said weapons aren't good at that. Hoard your kitchen tickets for the final boss, you'll need them for the extra cart skill. Equip your felyne with the paralysis or sleep weapon. There's no book of combos in this game! you can bind the items to the keyboard to craft and use instantly things like max potions or bowgun ammo.
Ive only played World. I tried 4U and Monoblos filtered me. At least I made it to High Rank

I like gore magala.
>>1612477 Holy shit worldbabies really are pathetic.
I'm still a bit sad that Gunlance still doesn't have Elemental Shelling yet.
(43.12 KB 392x680 help.jpg)

When does Rise get fun and/or challenging? Friend and I are bored to tears playing this shit and have been on a month long break since low rank was a snooze made for actual retards and high rank is a snooze made for actual retards. Is it the gate defense shit? Is that where it's supposed to be? Do I need a nude loli mod to keep it interesting?
>>1328663 What sucks the most is that they're not even good at the live service approach. How tf is one monster every couple of months mean to keep people playing? Oh wow a new update that adds ONE new monster. Time to kill him 2-3 times and then drop the game for another 4 months.
(174.74 KB 725x493 hell cross.png)

I was right about everything.
>>1620987 Maybe it's not made for you try superman 64 instead a real hard game:^)
>>1612477 Pretty sad dubsman. Give it another try, I'm sure you will figure it out eventually.
(6.64 MB 3840x2160 gemma and maki.webm)

>>1623109 That is a real game for real gamers, you are right. Just don't get why we can't seem to get through base rise at all or muster any enthusiasm for it. Hell, I just started dos (Powered by ACCESS!) and I'm having way more fun with this janky ass mess.
what's goin on in here?
