Meta thread Anonymous 07/23/2018 (Mon) 04:35:37 No. 2547
Hello everyone. I recently claimed the board and a couple of anons were interested in having a meta thread, so here it is. Please use it to suggest and discuss changes to the board (such as changes in banners and other special images, board features, or rules), to (eventually) discuss moderation, or any other topic concerning the board. If you're curious about me, I was on /sthg/ from its creation in 2014 until a few months ago, and now I'm here every day contemplating the fast. I've always been low profile so I've never used a name, and I plan to keep it like that. Please enjoy the board and let me know if there's anything I can do for you guys.
My browser crashed, had another one open, what's with >"Creation of new bypasses currently disabled" ?
I still don't understand what a "bypass" is or does.
>>36174 Apparently when you post first time you need to fill captcha twice to prevent spam or something.
>>36174 >>36158 A bypass is an access token that your browser requests from the site in order to be able to submit posts. Without it you can't post in any part of the site. Once you have one, it has a certain period of validity before it needs to be renewed. When the site is under attack, bypass generation can be disabled so spammers cannot keep posting once they've been banned once. If you have a valid bypass you can keep posting and renewing it without issues. >My browser crashed, had another one open, what's with >"Creation of new bypasses currently disabled" Bypass generation is disabled and probably your cookies for the site got corrupted, so the site doesn't recognize you and denies you a new bypass.
>>36188 So I'll just...keep clearing cookies and resetting system and hope for the best?
>>36193 If you clear your cookies you remove the only way the site has to recognize you. You need to wait until the site goes back to normal and bypass generation is re-enabled, and once you get a new bypass you need to keep your cookies safe. Alternatively you may be able to copy your cookies from one browser to the other for the site for the time being. Your cookies are your lifeline to the site when it is being bombarded with spam and illegal material.
>>36188 >>36198 I see, I understand now. Thank you
>>36198 I see. Thank you for explaining. Posting here in private mode certainly brings its own challenges.
>>36203 Sadly a compromise needs to be made between freedom (e.g. allowing posting with no captchas, post timers, or registration) and the measures to combat spam.
>>36212 It's a sacrifice I'm willing to take.
>>36212 Seems to be a better approach than captchas and registrations. Post timers never really bothered me though.
Good things come to those who wait.
Hood kings cum on those who wait.

>>2547 Hello! Dunno if the BO of this board is still active or not, but I'm the BO of >>>/rwby/ and I was wondering if you lads at >>>/fast/ would like to be Board Friends? There's plenty of Sonic fans in the /rwby/ fandom (pic rel) and we're both top-boards so it's win-win! Let me know at our meta thread >>>/rwby/2
(271.07 KB 1360x611 Sonic 06 soleanna css.png)

>>>/b/ made a Custom CSS with a Sonic and Soleanna theme. It was pretty funny I think Soleanna CSS https://files.catbox.moe/8cuub8.css
>>41080 What the FUCK is a board friend
>>41082 Not that anon but basically Board Friends are boards that link to each other in their Board Message and can collaborate on things occasionally. If you look at >>>/jp/ for example they have boards with similar interests or people linked.
>>41084 Unrelated but that little animal gif that follows your cursor is cute
>>41080 I always thought linking other boards was neat but I didn't think a lot of boards would be fitting for /fast/ or would make sense to be linked. /v/ would be fitting for example, but it wouldn't make sense as everyone already knows /v/ and it's the top board, same with /co/ I guess. So I never ended up doing any. Are there any other boards you fags can think of that anons here may be interested in? >/rwby/ Sure, I'll add /rwby/ and other common boards for now. Can you remind me the syntax to add links to the board message? I remember it was some stupid obscure shit that only worked there and wasn't mentioned anywhere on the site but I haven't touched the board message in years and forgot what the syntax was. I can't find it written down anywhere and HTML and regular post syntax don't work. >>41081 Neat. I've also always wanted to make a well designed and nuanced custom CSS for /fast/, but I thought it was a bit pointless since it'd never be as nice to use as the dark themes, plus I'm not an artfag and I'm not super knowledgeable in CSS so it would have been a lot of work.
>>41081 >>41093 I think /b/ would be fine with you using the CSS, they're not using it anyway. >>41087 I know right? That neko is such an old but fun asset. >>>/rwby/ has a pretty neat CSS too, though they're still working on their JS.

>>41093 > I'll add /rwby/ Thanks! >Syntax [the board name - description](/boardname) [/rwby/ - RWBY](/rwby) I forgot where it was written too lol I think somewhere in the Moderation Manual.

>>41093 >Are there any other boards you fags can think of that anons here may be interested in? Might catch flak for this but maybe /fur/? It does kinda apply.
>>41096 I'm just using the 'foo
(1.27 MB 2383x2473 1475599816340.jpg)

>>41095 >[/rwby/ - RWBY](/rwby) >mfw >>41096 I thought about that and I think /fur/ is cool but man it just feels so wrong lol. I'll add them regardless, they also had us linked for a while.
I've also been meaning to update the fallback plan since in 5 years so much has changed, but I never ended up doing it because I never found replacements for some of the places that disappeared. Since I got off my ass and it's still valuable to update what can be updated I've removed the stuff that no longer works and updated the alternatives that changed domains.

>>41124 Sounds cash. Added this place back. >>41125 Cool
>>41124 i feel like you might wanna specify somehow that /fur/ allows porn
>>41195 Outside of /co/ which I'm not sure all of them do actually. Having doubts about whether a furry board allows porn is kinda funny to me.

>>41124 Thanks for the link back /fast/. If anyone does stop by please leave feedback about the new Summertime CSS. It's not quite right nor finished. >>41195 Yeah. Both the original BO (I think) and then I toyed with the idea of keeping the catalogue and banners SFW to be visitor friendly but that whole idea wen to hell pretty quickly, for obvious reasons.
>>41225 No problem, you put a lot of effort into your board so I hope it grows. I want art with Bump and n8 now
>>41231 ...that's a porn oc, isn't it?
>>41248 Yes. The other one is /fur/'s mascot.
>>41249 Looks like rockoon. Devon Mack's OC

>>41124 Didn't think to say this earlier BO, but why don't you pin this thread in the Catalog, it IS the Meta Thread after all. >>41225 >If anyone does stop by please leave feedback about the new Summertime CSS. It's not quite right nor finished. Oooh that reminds me, if anyone stops by >>>/rwby/ >>41095 BO was asking for feedback and suggestions for their CSS and JS as well.
>>41334 >but why don't you pin this thread in the Catalog, it IS the Meta Thread after all. Because it usually lays unused for months on end, kinda like it should.
