New illustration. What is Sonic seeing?
>>44033 your fly is down
>>44012 holy bump!
>>44033 Tails just happened to be around and they saw each other and now he's walking up to h- Wait wait wait hold on a moment what? This is Yuta's city >https://sonic.sega.jp/SonicChannel/special/sidestory/sonicpict/20251226_009183/ >メトロシティ I recognized the name, but I thought it was an original location from Blade of Courage. But now I just looked it up and learned that SEGA has been telling other developers to put it in their games for a while. I didn't realize that it's in Speed Simulator, Dash, and Speed Battle. And it's clear from all the sources that it's based on Tokyo, because of movie 3. I like it and I like that they're doing this, it's good to have a new recurring location. I wonder if they're putting it in the next game
>>44036 I didn't notice at all but that's cool, I'd like some coherency of locations but at the same time I hope it doesn't become the new green hill.
The revelation that there is not only a 2nd canon Silver but he has his own Superform makes me giddy. https://sonic.fandom.com/wiki/ESP_Silver Who'd win in a fight: ESP Silver or Shadow without his limiters?
(34.69 KB 828x249)234234.png
>>44040 Shadow without the limiters is basically unbeatable. >premium roulette Fuck that shit. I'm still salty about it.
>>44036 Wasn't one of the most highly requested things for Frontiers 2 that it take place in a city? Maybe this is one of the open zones we'll see in the next game.
>>44041 >Shadow without the limiters is basically unbeatable. If they ever bring back Hyper Sonic, then it must be against Unlimited Shadow.
>>44044 I feel like that would end up with a lot of butthurt people for one reason or another, lol.
>>44045 Just don't have a canon winner. If you're playing as Hyper Sonic, he wins; if you're playing as Uninhibited Super Shadow, he wins.
>>44040 >he has his own Superform ? >>44043 I hope it's one of many new original locations in the game
>>44047 Think Shadow without his limiters, a Super form without a McGuffin. ESP Silver is Silver at the height of his abilities after losing his waifu. In design terms, he's angry Aura-ver.
>>44048 I didn't think about it in those terms. Is the Super form connection confirmed or were you just being figurative?
>>44049 If you don't consider Shadow without his limiters a Superform then you won't consider ESP Silver a superform. You are playing word games at this point.
>>44046 Maybe that'd be the best alternative but it's annoying never being able to establish things in this franchise. Almost nothing is ever set in stone because Sonic Team doesn't want to commit to having a universe with well defined concepts since they're just not capable of not contradicting themselves and it ends up being very unsatisfying.

Last day of the year, what's the final sonic game you played/are playing? I got done with STH just now.

Do you think an anime based on Blade of Courage would be good? Or in case they end up making an anime would you rather they go with some other new story? I'd love another anime.
>>44087 I didn't know Hoshino responded to him. That's surprising, now I wonder if they're considering it for real But yes, I want both an anime adaptation and an original series
What if IDW characters show up in Blade of Courage?
>>44087 >Do you think an anime based on Blade of Courage would be good? Thanks for reminding me that I need to finish reading Blade of Courage. >Or in case they end up making an anime would you rather they go with some other new story? I'd like both, an adaptation of BoC and a new story, but if I had to pick, I'd go for a new story.
>>44093 Cool Hey, Tails is with them, maybe they'll reunite
What if they put Elise in the movies? What if the kiss is included?
>>44097 better than them putting the IDW OCs in
>>44098 No, I mean, how would they execute it and how would it be received?
>>44099 >how would they execute it Elise's deadname is Tom. >and how would it be received? Beloved by critics, hated by everyone else.
>>44101 >Elise's deadname is Tom.
>>44097 It'd probably be received better now than it was back then.

>>44116 It's a shame concept of Omega existing in 06's bad future is so wasted, it was such a cool concept, but instead they just had the Omega from the present hibernate and save Shadow. Imagine if we had to fight the Omega that had betrayed Shadow in the bad future.

In conclusion, it is ultimately and definitively confirmed that IDW doesn't fit with the games, the lore team means nothing, and western Sonic media is best ignored when it comes to continuity discussion
>>44125 >When does DC x Sonic take place? It's hilarious that people think that DC x Sonic canon to anything else in the series, the fact that it's a crossover with a different comic brand seals its fate as non-canon to both the games and the comics.
>>44117 I really should play 06 one day.
>>44130 Surprisingly I had fun at times/in some stages
>>44125 That isn't what that pic says though. It just says that the speaker doesn't want to explain such autistic questions. It's also very annoying that the bottom portion is seemingly from some whole different source and doesn't list the speaker on it. >>44127 Previous Sonic comic crossovers were canon to the Sonic comics. But yeah, obviously this isn't canon to DC, and it's highly unlikely they'll ever reference it again in Sonic, unless they do a sequel to it. Reminder that Archie Robotnik is still alive in the Image Comics universe, going by the alias of Dr. Ian Droid.
>>44132 It is a confusing screenshot to be fair. That said, it was Evan and SEGA who started the autism. See the prequel: https://spiritsonic.tumblr.com/post/803775291626586112/evan-a-big-questionso-the-mystery-villain https://spiritsonic.tumblr.com/post/803784326362824704/so-if-the-nebulous-placement-for-frontiers-is https://spiritsonic.tumblr.com/post/804790822658850816/ah-seems-i-opened-the-floodgates-im-very She gave up on making it make sense. Wasn't the lore team meant to take care of these issues?
I want to complete the Final Horizon, but Knuckles' turning controls are so ass that I can't get through his platforming segment.
>>44134 The Lore Team are just community managers. Take whatever they say with a grain of salt.
>>44137 Didn't they improve them in an update?
>>44137 just mash the button, it'll loop the animation and freeze knuckles in the air, now you can line him up exactly. >>44130 still waiting for marathon recompiled to fully come out.
>>44142 I hope the discussion around it is healthy when it's completed. Discussing the game is nearly impossible right now. Any sort of post that says anything even slightly positive or that isn't extremely superficial is immediately dismissed with comments like "the game is broke and everything about it is shit" without any sort of nuance, asking questions about how to play the game just makes people tell you to never play it at all (I assume from people who never played it in the first place, if they're saying that), constant accusations of talking about P-06 instead of the official game even when that isn't the topic at all, and so on. I've written long posts criticizing the game while also mentioning the aspects I enjoy, and I often received replies calling me a "bootlicker" for that, or even just for saying that I think there are worse games in the series. Some people don't want anyone to be allowed to like or even just discuss anything about the game. Whenever anyone says anything that's actually meaningful it's met with a bunch of replies that may as well be bots. Even a lot of the defenders barely if at all discuss the actual game and instead prefer to focus on their wishlists for what it could have been. When someone talks about the game the most common reaction is ignorance and an insistence to spread that ignorance and shut down any actual thought or discussion. I think this behavior is partially caused by the game not being easily accessible, but if this is the attitude around it, with people insisting that you should never even give it a fair chance and form your own experience and thoughts, then even the recompilation might not change anything.
>>44141 They did, now they're too tight in a section designed for Knuckles old controls, whenever I try to turn I end up crashing into a wall. >>44142 >just mash the button Which button? The jump button? Can this be done mid glide?
>>44143 I disagree on the recomp not changing anything, unleashed was in that same point for a long time because it was hard to make your own opinion when it required a 360/PS3 to play through, it was a genuine shock to see people do such a 180 on the game when they were able to experience it themselves instead of relying on 10+ year old reviews to tell them what to think. of course i doubt 06 will get the same kind of 180, but i feel more people will at least get talk about the game instead of mindlessly shitting over it, or mindlessly glazing it now that people have started overcorrecting thanks to P-06. As for me, i cannot wait, last year i've been playing a lot of "bad" sonic games and i cannot wait to finally get to see if 06 was really as bad as people said, some of these games have surprised me. >>44144 the jump button, and you can.
https://youtu.be/WMBPSI6hIlo The Pacman DLC for Crossworlds is coming out on Wednesday.
>>44145 The Unleashed recomp surprised me with how good the day sttages are and how terrible the Werehog is. Before it came out, I had assumed the Day stages were similar in quality to Gens stages and the Night stages were jsut overhated due to not being "Sonic" enough. It'll be interesting to see how Marathon changes my view of 06. >the jump button, and you can. I'll give it a try.
>>44145 I didn't mean to say that it definitely won't happen, I'm just afraid that it won't, or that it won't affect enough people to make a meaningful difference. What games have you been playing? >>44147 I used to dismiss Unleashed simply because it abandoned the Adventure style, but now that I accept it for what it is, I actually enjoy it. I also completely ignored the Werehog in the past, but it can be fun. The big problem I have with it is the forced combat, which I also dislike in other Sonic games from the era. I like the Werehog platforming.
>>44148 just shadow for now, done with the main story but i'll try to unlock expert mode.
Have you ever cried because of Sonic?
>>44152 Sonic CD's good ending hits me right in the feels.
>>44152 The end of SA2 made my cry a little along with the original end of Frontiers.
Sonic fans tend to have an excessive concern with optics. When something is unpopular or controversial, especially outside of the fanbase, many will start saying that you shouldn't like it because it will give us a bad look or affect the series' popularity or whatever, or that at the very least you should be self-deprecating and say that the thing you like is objectively bad if it had bad reviews or if people are making fun of it (like with fan works). It's a holdover from the 2010s, but unfortunately it's still not fully gone. I don't understand why people care about that. I'm not a PR manager, I don't make money from SEGA sales, I'm just here to have fun and enjoy something I like. It's not our job to advertise the series, and I shouldn't want it to run contrary to my interests.
>>44159 The Dark Mission in that was one of the last ones I A ranked. Apparently the Gamecube version of Shadow has a glitch where one of the soldiers in the final room doesn't spawn unless you exit the room and re-enter it and that kept costing me enough time to bring my rank down to a B.
>>44160 That happened in my last attempt, had to quickly run back to a checkpoint to get the last enemy to spawn.
>>44155 It comes from being convinced we're way more unified than we are. We're just people who like a franchise, some rando having a shit opinion doesn't imply much about the rest of us.
>>44155 I think it's a leftover from when the franchise was an embarrassment and there were very prominent weirdos making it awkward, I think at that point being a Sonic fan was a bit looked down upon and the (((media))) loved to spit out articles panning the franchise, so after being beat over the head so many times people may now overcompensate and try sweep under the rug everything bad lol.
>>44152 https://youtu.be/0DizopdPMBw The end credits to Tails's story in Adventure always makes me feel.
>>44152 Tikal's story in SA1 always got to me, I'd even cry when just listening to Tikal's theme.
>>44145 Thanks anon, the jump button technique works. I feel like the Final Horizon is always either way too easy or way too hard and this was the perfect example of it, there was a challenging platforming segment and Knuckles' overly sensitive turning made it worse, but you can trivialize it by constantly resetting your glide.
>>44163 How about we stay unified while respecting each other's preferences? It's not that hard. >some rando having a shit opinion That doesn't even cover all the cases I'm thinking of. I often see people go against their own tastes and interests just to maintain some fake public image for outsiders that no one actually cares about. >>44166 Yes, I agree. But people should have figured out that it doesn't work by now.
It's a shame /fast/ is so slow right now, I have the urge to talk about Sonic right now and I refuse to go back to 4/sthg/.
>>44172 If /fast/ wasn't slow what would you be talking about?
>>44173 god i love blaze
>>44173 Probably my desire for more Sonic stories from before the meta era. The only two pre-2010 mainline games I've yet to play are Zero Gravity and SatBK, once I'm done with that I'll only have handheld games to play (which besides Chronicles and Battle don't have much in the way of story).
>>44175 It sucks having appetite for a certain type of content and never getting it. When I was new to the franchise I was hoping the games would have more character interactions since it was the characters that drew me in so that's what I was looking for but the characterization in the games suck ass. At least you still have to play SatBK which is often regarded as having a great story. And Battle is fantastic, honestly one of my favorite Sonic games.
>>44175 You should seriously play BK, easily the best sonic story we've gotten, the game is a lot better than people give it credit for too. >>44176 Good to see a fellow BK enjoyer here, i loved battle too.
>>44176 Is it worth watching the cutscenes of Shuffle? I tried playing that a while back and it was so boring and unfair that I gave up before I could even beat the first board, but I know it has a decent story. >It sucks having appetite for a certain type of content and never getting it. I've been playing through Frontiers' DLC trying to see if it has any good story moments and all the character interactions are so bland. It's always just two t-posing character models explaining stuff that didn't need an explanantion or talking about how great Sonic is. I've only gotten to the fifth tower, so maybe it gets better near the end, but everything so far has been really bland. I will admit that the interactions with the Titan Pilots were okay, but that's quickly forgotten once you start talking to the other characters in the open zone. >At least you still have to play SatBK which is often regarded as having a great story. I know, I'm trying to save it for last of the remaining mainline games. >And Battle is fantastic, honestly one of my favorite Sonic games. I'm dreading playing through that one, I've heard about how some of the fights can be a real slog. >>44177 >You should seriously play BK, easily the best sonic story we've gotten I loved Secret Rings, even with the waggling the story, setting and music were enough to make me like it, so I'm really looking forward to playing it.
>>44176 >>44177 I can understand Secret Rings because of the unorthodox control scheme, but why was there so much hate for Black Knight? -t. Fellow BK fan
>>44178 >I'm dreading playing through that one, I've heard about how some of the fights can be a real slog. Oh yeah, the fights are complete bullshit past a point but there's a way to cheese them. Either way the story more than makes up for it.
>>44178 Wish i shared the same feelings on secret rings, it has peak aesthetics and music but holy shit, the 8 hours i spent on the main game was easily the most miserable i've ever been playing a sonic game. (so far, still haven't gotten to 06) >>44179 Just the 1-2 punch of secret rings being absolute shit and 06 nuking the franchise for a good half decade, no one wanted to give any games a chance. just look at the reception unleashed had on release, what chance did a gimmick spinoff have? Even today, the game only gets props for the story, but it seems the gameplay is still not properly understood, i'll give that the game doesn't do the best job of explaining it, even in modern videos, you can see people running into stuff all the time and not properly using soul surge.
>>44181 >the 8 hours i spent on the main game was easily the most miserable i've ever been playing a sonic game I thought I was the only one that had really miserable moments playing Sonic games. What was everyone else's most miserable moments in Sonic games? inb4 barrel
>>44179 What I had heard is that BK was hated for three reasons: >It's gameplay was dumbed down compared to Secret Rings >The franchise as a whole was hated then >People were less fond of motion controls in 2009 than they were in early 2007 >>44180 >spoiler Do tell (as long as it doesn't spoil the story). >>44181 I mean I thought it was a defnite step down in gameplay from Heroes and Shadow (which themselves were a definite step down from the Adventure games), but once I unlocked enough powerups (around level 2 or 3) up until the final bosses I was having genuine fun. Though that may just be because I played a lot of Wii shovelware when I was a kid which gave me increased tolerance to waggling as an Adult. >still haven't gotten to 06 I haven't done 06 either, come to think of it. Hopefully Project Marathon gets it recompiled ahead of the 20th Anniversary so I can try it out.
>>44182 >What was everyone else's most miserable moments in Sonic games? In just getting to the credits? Bullet Station and Rail Canyon were terrible to go through on my first playthrough of Heroes. It took me an hour of falling off the rails through the jank and slipperiness of that game before I realized I should do the whole thing in Flight Formation. Some other really bad ones were the Biolizard (kept falling off), one of the Shamar Night levels and the two final bosses of Secret Rings, those all made me nearly quit their respective games. If you're talking about 100%, some of Shadow's missions (the ones in the past and Central City Hero) take the cake as being some of the worst for how stringent their A rank requirements were.
>>44183 The controls are bad on a fundamental level, i played on dolphin with a custom control scheme to make the game playable on controller and it still only helped somewhat. same on marathon recomp, the game looks to be pretty playable on the non public build so hopefully they just need to iron a few more kinks out before release.
>>44182 >What was everyone else's most miserable moments in Sonic games? I could never figure out what to fucking do in the forest level for Tail's Adventure. >>44183 >>44184 >All the hate for Heroes <Meanwhile consider it PEAK Adventure era gameplay The only real problem is that the levels are too fucking long.
>>44186 >The only real problem is that the levels are too fucking long. I don't mind the leve length (outside a couple Chaotix missions), what really angers me is how slippery the physics are combined with the fact that 90% of the levels are platforms floating over bottomless pits.
>>44186 >>44187 for me it's the jank, i don't mind long levels until i die at the 11th hour cause i phased through a platform or didn't grab a vine because i was slightly off course.
>>44185 >The controls are bad on a fundamental level, I've played far worse. >same on marathon recomp, the game looks to be pretty playable on the non public build so hopefully they just need to iron a few more kinks out before release. Oh, that's good to hear, hopefully we're only a few months away then. I wonder which will come first, Project Marathon's release or Frontiers 2 being announced.
