Happy 10th Anniversary! Anonymous 10/24/2024 (Thu) 13:35:46 Id: d1960c No. 1031223
I wrote a reflection piece about a month ago since I don't really have any lavish plans to celebrate the occassion. Although I'm thankful for those of us who are with us to this day and I look forward to helping out as long as I can. Link to the piece: https://medium.com/@markmann447_91903/hello-everyone-42645dc49fb5 also the anniversary was actually in September, but this is fine too

>>1032195 >thats because they've done their best to get rid of all the people who made 8chan feel the way it did for being too extreme for 8moe 8moe is better for it anyways. Moving beyond /pol/ was for the best, and it's an opportunity to let other boards take the spotlight. The whole embrace infamy thing draws too much attention from the outside world and leads to normalfags trying to clamp down on the site. /pol/ is a sinking ship, and I say let it sink.
>>1032199 >Moving beyond /pol/ was for the best, and it's an opportunity to let other boards take the spotlight. The whole embrace infamy thing draws too much attention from the outside world and leads to normalfags trying to clamp down on the site. >/pol/ is a sinking ship, and I say let it sink. Yeah I don't think the /pol/-infamy era works in the current times. Comfy bunkers is what works right now and that's what we should embrace. Embrace Comfy.
>>1032200 Eh, I think pre-2016 /pol/ was sensible because it was filled with people who actually gave a shit and were intelligent, hence them slowly figuring out (((globohomo))) over time, it was the retards, qoomers and assmad glowies who hopped on after 2016 that warped the site into its downwards spiral. It's like the Wall Street Bets community after some dedicated enthusiasts managed to stock squeeze the (((bizraelis))), their braintrust got destroyed by the normalfag flood who knew jack shit about the market and just spammed diamond and hand emojis before getting BTFO'd by Robin Hood, to later get rainbowwashed by (((Hollyweird pedophiles))) as muh brave interracial lesbian couple. Their last gift was giving some less intelligent folks a clue towards the ESG and DEI scam that put a tangible face to the pozz globohomo couldn't wave away. Still, if you have zero context for the coherent entity /pol/ used to be I don't blame you, /cuckpol/ is desperately trying to sign up to die for the IDF right now. I think what every anon here misses but can't put into words was that 8chan prime back then was undeniably a nexus of the online zeitgeist that has bled into the everyday reality we inhabit. Whether it be (((Yandev))) and Tetradev breaking down on there, or spreading the seeds of webm culture (I'm trying to bring about a revival through highlighting SVT-AV1-PSY), or Limited Soul Theory inspiring the NPC meme (for better or for worse), or fucking SoulBrothaNo3 being posted on here before he made Class of '09, or helping make niche shit like STALKER and Wakfu take off. 8chan was creative. We were "infamous" because 8chan prime housed the counterculture that would ultimately save the white race from being genocided by (((Israel))) (or not according to doomers). Nowadays the new nexus is Xitter and it's a dogshit one that's spiraling in an ever-derivative recursion because of the sanding down of the internet. Even if you can write "faggot" on there people are just hurling it out to be obnoxious; it's lost the power it used to have in old nettiquette when posters just used it to deter normalfags. >>1032196 High PPH is rarely good if the posts are just unproductive spam like niggerpill. Quality over quantity. You want the creators with a brain and wit to come here, which is why threads like the APNG one and the Silent Hill LP are compacting a lot of content to digest without wasting readers' time with vacuous shitflinging. One of my missions is to encourage literacy in high quality compression to reduce 8chan's bandwidth but also conversely incentivize people to post more media in general and take advantage of what the boards have to offer. Post high resolution art dumps of mahjong games from the 90s, post Flashes, post entire series, etc.
>>1032242 Old /pol/ turned out to be right about Trump, in 2016 he played the populist card and there was enough screeching of "OMG Hitler" that people got swept up in the zeitgeist. Now in 2024 he's coasting by on being the goodest goy, which is why he's going to win. Because he's cozied up to the cool Yids club and promised to switch American focus from Ukraine to Israel and their proxy war with Iran. It feels like 2016, but all the Kayfabe has been done away with.
(232.36 KB 520x342 chattymonkey.webm)

No (((LCP))), CP is not "counterculture".
>>1032242 Yeah you're right about pre 2016 /pol/. I use to post there I watched the transition happen. I guess the terminal state of 8/pol/ is what sticks in my mind so I have a bit of a bias against it because of that.
>>1032196 >first pic The goons left 4chan in a diaspora to become ecelebs and seed new shotholes once the normalfag ratio rose too high to indoctrinate.
>>1032242 >High PPH is rarely good if the posts are just unproductive spam like niggerpill. Higher PPH wouldn't be too bad. >Quality over quantity. You want the creators with a brain and wit to come here Laaaah-deeeeeee-fuckin'-daaaaaaaah~ I don't know why we assume if lower PPH = everyone a big brain, could just mean we have a small group of retards circlejerking rather than a big group of retards circlejerking. Besides, if big brains want a space to drink champagne, they could just go to a smaller board with low PPH, but in general I think we all want higher PPH. The age of /pol/ is over. Just accept its death with dignity and gracefully die. Just look at 4/pol/, place is filled with bots and shills. Do we honestly want that here? And the people who are extreme think they are too good for this place and don't trust Mark.
>>1032266 >I don't know why we assume if lower PPH = everyone a big brain First of all >we But second, it's because people have the memory of a fucking goldfish. 8chan prime had both quality and speed, imbeciles who try to claim that activity and quality are mutually exclusive are either massively fucking retarded or weren't there to begin with.
>>1032277 >thanks to the organic gatekeeping of forcing users to tolerate extreme content What do you mean by extreme content? Do you mean /pol/ exclusively or stuff like lolicon, gore, /zoo/, etc (which plenty of people bitch about, but you're right that it is a natural normalfag filter) or this all together with /pol/?

>>1031483 I joined in 2014 along with most people. It's a bit sad to think that 2014-2016 were also my happiest years in real life.
>>1032282 You're replying to LCP.
>>1032282 You are responding to a faggot that is eternally butthurt his favorite board full of 3DPDCP got deleted and banned, by "extreme content" he means CP.
/zoo/ and /interracial/ are natural filters against high value people, many left cuckchan because the catalog was nigger penis. When LCP thinks "high value users" he thinks of pedophiles like himself. He's negative value. Internet gatekeeping isn't organic and doesn't follow consensus. It follows the appearance of consensus, created not democratically, but by an oligarchy of the terminally online, whether they're tranny jannies creating that appearance with deletion, or loser users creating that appearance by roleplaying as 10 people. People like LCP shouldn't gatekeep anything, they would keep out high value people and attract people as low value as himself.
Demographics who flood comments with animal rape, nigger penis, and Democrat activism are not high value users, they're demographics that should be jeopardized or you get total disorder that keeps out high value users. If those demographics become gatekeepers, then the gatekeepers are gatekeeping against high value users while letting in low value users like themselves. It's not what a person can or can't handle, it's "like attracts like." You're the low value user who thinks you're the high value user. You'd attract low value users like yourself as a gatekeeper and a pedophile. You're on 10 times more than most people, so on a board without jannies you get more input to gatekeep by creating an appearance of consensus, or by Gish galloping threads, than 10 people together. That's why you want a lawless board. It's not democratic nor organic, it's oligarchic, with you in the oligarchy, so "organic" and "grassroots" are nice but inapplicable words you use to flatter a situation you would control, then accuse me of being someone to deflect from the light I shine on your tactics. You don't post about video games on /v/, you post Democrat activism and drama. You're the low value user jannies should gatekeep, and this triggers you for selfish reasons you pretend are noble.
Where I said "Democrat activism," I meant CSAM/posting on /leftypol/ual abuse material. The site changed it on me.
Don't give LCP the time of day, he isn't worth it.

>>1032283 You can make the next year happier, just use the internet less and enjoy parts of the old internet through archives.
>>1032311 >enjoy parts of the old internet through archives. I've been doing just that, despite archives being gradually pruned or gotten harder to access. Some people are also using Web 1.0 practices to make websites that feel like the old internet, not only aesthetically (like on neocities), but in content too. I'm thinking of https://the-simple-site.neocities.org/, http://textfiles.com/directory.html, or https://www.houseofgord.com/ for instance.
>detect any trigger words like trump, election, pol, yid etc >change ip >omg we gonna lose, we should give up just like me, kneel before liberals... >ad infinitum for about 6years now And this guy used to be on leftypol. Embarrasing
>>1032361 >>1032359 >>1032358 Sometimes I feel this way, and then I boot up DOOM (1993) and everything feels acceptable until my blood sugar rebalances itself and my mood stabilizers kick in
>>1032364 Life is made of the little things. It's the tiny joys in life that make it worth living. This site brings me some of those joys. It's the little jokes that make me crack a smile, or the interesting ideas that make me feel curious or sometimes even astounded. For a very stupid example, last week at work they were doing group photos of all the staff. I was not having a good day, there was a lot of bullshit going on at work, but it would just make it worse to look grumpy in the photo and then have people talk to me about it. But you know what made me smile? Just remembering stupid fucking jokes from this website, or from my few IRL friends. Not even good jokes, some might not even qualify as jokes, but they bring joy. Everything else is for those moments. I suffer through bullshit at work, but at the end of the day I get to talk to my friends and be like "what if Good Times 2099? lmao." And it's fucking stupid and nobody would understand why we're laughing except for us, but it get gets me through the day. That and spite. A lot of what gets me through the day is spite against the people who make the world shitty. That and Good Times 2099.
off yourself tbh blackpill
And blackpill, you've been at this for over a fucking hour what the hell dude, just talking to yourself back and forth with no other replies. Mental illness.
>>1032377 This is what my routine used to be a decade ago, without even any work bullshit. Now all IRL friends are scattered all over the country, all of them are depressed because of COVID, I've lost 50 pounds and several jobs. Yet, the site still exist and I've got plans for the future, even if they're very down to earth and very simple. I've also got many DOOM wads left to try.
