can a Monifag explain the non-horror appeal of her? I certainly don’t dislike her, but I like her more as the game’s big antagonist than as a waifu. Her true personality also seems both secretive and distorted by the epiphany, unlike the other girls who stick closer to their respective tropes.

A god. Sayori killed herself when subjected to this knowledge, Monika decided to rizz you up. Monika is not really an antagonist when you consider her POV, she's a teenage girl stuck in an impossible incomprehensible cosmic horror scenario doing whatever she can to get your attention before you leave.
