I'm having a great time playing Pokemon Legends ZA. Hopefully everyone in this thread buys it and enjoys it. Ignore the haters.

Personally I am having an okay time, not a very fun time, but not a horrendous time either. The main thing driving me to keep playing this game is to see the new mega evolutions, as I haven't been spoiled about which Pokemon are getting them. There's no way I will ever feel the same amount of excitement and thrill for Pokemon that I did years ago, and that's okay, I'm not chasing that feeling. But the closest I am getting to that feeling of fun is seeing the new megas. It's been a blast seeing which final pokemon an important trainer has and realizing that I am about to see a new mega form for that pokemon. For example, I had no idea about Mega Drampa. When Vinnie was down to his last mon and sent out his Drampa, it was fun to quickly deduce that I was about to see a Mega Drampa. It was similar with Tarragon. With him being a construction worker, I had a feeling he would have a Excadrill, so when he sent out his final pokemon and it was indeed that species, I knew my suspicions about a Mega Excadrill were correct. >Ignore the haters. Next Order was extremely bad, sadly. Having your creature be autonomous set Digimon World apart from every other monster training RPG, and unlocking commands by training its intelligence over and over made even giving it commands as you would in another game have a completely different feeling ZA feels like it dips its toes, like 10% into World's combat system, because you don't totally feel in control of your Pokemon's movement unless you really learn to master it, I think that's why I'm enjoying it so much right now, I feel like it's the best Pokemon game, even surpassing Mystery Dungeon, but the DLC and pricing stuff is definitely souring it also the PVP is really fun right now but might become unplayable as jewtubers and 40yo men optimize the fun out of it

>>1876445 Like many of those comments say, the obvious influence of DEI is part of what makes her design so irritating. You can see it in the NPCs, too. There are a ton of brown or black NPCs, and it's not like most of them are implied to be foreign tourists either. Despite taking place in the pokemon equivalent of Paris, there is no attempt to make the population look French. It would be interesting if someone did a count, because I wouldn't be surprised if one discovered that almost half of the NPCs are nonwhite. Chances are very high that someone at GF made it a requirement that a certain number of not only NPCs, but important characters, are dark skinned, whether it looks good or makes sense or not. But DEI aside, her skin really is too dark. The light whites and pastels of her clothing contrast her skin tone too much and it simply looks weird. The Japanese joke about black paint but it really does look like they took a white woman and changed the color values of her skin so she was black instead. If she had african features, such as a different shaped nose and larger lips, it wouldn't look as awkward even with her light purple hair and dress. They've kind of done it before, Lenora has some sort of african features (hair and lips) and her design is fine. But GF didn't put that much effort into any of the player models and just used basic anime features for everyone. So it is a visual and aesthetic problem as much as it is an ESG/DEI problem. And her personality really is shit, which makes it even worse. She is the typical rich anime girl who has this calm, positive, and refined air to her, but is clearly spoiled to some degree as she always makes sure she gets what she wants. She can quietly sneak up on you, unnoticed, and has the potential to watch your every move, according to her. You expect to see her break a little at some point, maybe after you destroy her in battle, but no. It never happens. She literally just smiles and claps, no anger or shaken emotions. There is potential, even for a boring, predictable character but GF doesn't even give her that. She isn't funny or endearing, she just made me angry, I rushed through her tournament thing just to beat her. And even after she messes with the player, your only option before the battle begins is to compliment her. Why didn't they take some inspiration from the Battle Chatelaines instead?

The only ones who ever actually made the connection to the stereotype are the ones claiming to be against it. I had a feeling someone would bring this up, I really only picked that picture because it was a decently made Lenora art piece. On a related note, with all the leaks that have happened, it has been interesting to see just how far GF and Nintendo will go to ensure that as few people as possible have a reason to be "offended" by their game. Lenora's redesign is one thing. But they also originally wanted to make the Gen 7 female trainer's bag red and green, but worried it looked too much like a watermelon slice, and would thus cause some sort of controversy when people saw the dark skinned character option carrying it. So they made the bottom of the bag yellow instead.
