I'm playing Hired Gun and honestly its not very good compared to E.Y.E. it's fun game but something is missing and I think its the level design. EYE level design always gave me the impression that was I in small section of a larger world, you had smaller areas like restaurants, bathrooms, bars, apartments, underground tunnels, and warehouses, each smaller block had their individuals personality, and the maps were designed with some kind world building logic for the imaginary NPCs that would live those maps, and many areas would loop back to beginning of map.
In Hired Gun the level design is strictly for the player's enjoyment, its linear experience with a beginning and an ending, there is no concern for the lives of the imaginary NPCs or how they would function in such a space.
>how do NPCs move from wagon to wagon ?
>Doesn't matter, now use your grappling hook
>Where are the bathrooms ?
>Doesn't matter, here is some wacky wall where you can wall run
>Where are the offices ?
>Doesn't matter, use your double jump
>Where are the genestealer's sleeping quarters ?
>doesn't matter, just grab the glowing things and open the door
the maps are not going to loop back because that is not the point, its a thrill ride for you to use your new abilities, that is it, there are other problems like the weapon system and enemy behavior, but they don't bother me that much.
