Can we have a Stalker thread? I've recently tried out what all the fuss around GAMMA is about and I must say it's quite a fun experience For people who don't know, it's a customizable modpack for Anomaly (a freeplay mod consiting all areas of the first 2 stalker games) and comes with its own updater and Mod organizer 2 config. You need the GAMMA launcher fiels wich can be downloaded from theri shitcord, but if you are a boomer like me who doesn't want to make an aacount you can just download this somewhat older build off mediafire and it will update itself upon lauch to the newest version. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/agyul0e6fbban/STALKER_GAMMA Then you need Anomaly itself which can be downlaoded here: https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly/downloads Unpack both into their seperate folders and then point the MO2 from the gamma folder towards the Anomaly folder and from there it will be basically autopilot. I enjoyed the A-life in this and how the best parts of the original trilogy are expanded upon, specifically the hobo phase. Weapon and armor upgrades feel siginifcant but you can even start out with some decent gear since you get a few points to spend on a new game. I'd recommend tweaking the MCM settings to your liking though, stuff like dropped ammo amount and gear condition based on rank for example. I also didn't like the brown and colorless look of the default install, reinstalling the grass and weater mods gives several options like spring, summer, autumn, winter etc.
>>1386615 >Why have it be virtually invisible <Why is the invisible killer invisible > it's to corral you into playing how the the developers want you to play, fuck player freedom. Skill issue. ><lets just pretend they're clearly marked and the signs aren't sparse as shit! <The radioactive zone has radioactivity in it, how could I predict this.
>>1386777 Throat fuck a mutant faggot
>>1386806 I'll be stalking while you're skill issueing instead.

>>1386667 going to have to take my mask off for this!
>>1386523 Radiation zones in stalker are stupid because they're basically stark lines without geometric falloff. The geiger counter should also be equippable like a detector so you can actually read it and not just get bombarded with stupid beeps AFTER you get a lethal dose. It should be stupidly easy to throw inverse square law onto the radiation areas. The devs should have done it but they didn't.
Also they should differentiate between alpha, beta and gamma radiation, which could be countered with different artifacts, equipment and items. iirc most of Chernobyl is actual gamma radiation, but any dust or food contaminated with alpha/beta could fuck you up pretty quickly. Given the existing sim-lite aspects, it would be interesting if getting/coping with lethal/debilitating doses could be incorporated into gameplay with artifacts. It would be pretty funny to just have doc just use a health regen and an anti-bleeding artifact to heal stalkers up while cutting out entire parts of their body, or an anti-cancer artifact in general etc. "You passed out and we took you to doc. He's reviving you with a shot of pure adrenaline and you have six hours to find a few artifacts for the surgery before you die."

>>1386514 >The radiation thing would be an easy fix if you just put a green fog around the zone like fallout did lol filling the maps with fart clouds is totally a great idea
>>1390940 >female bloodsuckers have been here..

>>1390660 >>1390977 >>1390940 >>1386514 Stop arguing about meaningles shit, fucking casuals. Green stuff already exist in the saga. Like the green gas In clear sky or the fruit punch anomaly for example And radiation ain't even that important Just buy a good armor and some vodka you poor fag. Instead of larping just go and play the games, Also why is nobody speaking about Together? I just found out about this mod that allows for multiple players (max 8) to play together. https://inv.nadeko.net/watch?v=rCjarklsUk0 Looks like fun, although i have no one to play this shit with. Years of isolation finally came with a price lol
>>1381574 >removed Russian language from the game >removed all Soviet iconography and statues >removed rubles <"Anyone who disagrees with this is a Russian troll" ~ official company statement

>>1391117 >Green stuff already exist in the saga yeah but those are mostly set to specific areas like swamps and the underground sections. radiation being green fog means green gas everywhere (bad) >anomaly together is this from the same people who made the other 3 campaigns coop-able? i feel like those would be more fun to play with friends. but anomaly could be nice too, especially if mods are compatible. wonder how they handle respawn
>>1391359 USSR russian iconography was there as a way to show just how dystopian the regime was and it helped the atmosphere immensely, such a retarded fucking move.
>>1391359 >removed Russian language Never understood this one. Estonia threw a similar autistic fit. Fuck regular people who speak Russian I guess because of le Putine. Imagine banning English because Orange Man.

>>1391359 >>1391872 The developers are Ukranian aren't they? Those people have the sandiest vaginas of any humans on the planet.
>>1392003 You'd be pissed off too if your country was invaded, regardless if it was justified or not due to EU cancer. Doing this shit is just retarded, the whole game was already pretty anti russian with the military being extremely corrupt due to having russian ties, Duty having ties with the military/russia and being zealous to a fault. All the USSR stuff was also showcasing how dysyopian that shit was and still looks like, it's part of the game. The fucks who censored this shit don't even understand their game.
>>1392003 is this bait how do you not know where GSC are from?
>>1392043 Or maybe they DO in fact understand the game and are censoring it so people don't associate a totalitarian regime with the USSR

Crazy how next month STALKER 2 will have been out for a year, and nobody talks about it. Zero "cultural impact", as they say. What was actually wrong with it? I've heard a few uninteresting culture war talking points but even journos didn't score the game very well. It wasn't a hit with anyone (except Game Pass normalfags but they play anything)
>>1815657 Bland by the books modern sequel that costs $60+, and as of its 1.6 update mandatory anti-aliasing and upscaling that can't be turned off.

>>1815657 >What was actually wrong with it? From an oldfag who started STALKER years ago and played builds, I played S2 on day-one release, and I'd rate it as 6.5/10 - good overall experience but has a lot of shortcomings and aneurysm inducing mechanics (most I fixed with mods that were popping in on release), they may be fixed now but I only did one full 90 hours play-throughs and I'm waiting for the DLC to replay it in it's better state now <Negatives The empty open world combined zero simulation and a lot of retarded choices and bad optimization. The world is very big and there's a lot of great set pieces to explore, but there's no A-Life, and at the beginning the offline simulation was also gone, the game operated on random spawns around you, which were annoying. Every 15 minutes you would have something spawn around you and annoy you, with no warning, no way to spot it beforehand and avoid it, you are forced into an encounter, which should never be a thing. And 90% of time the spawn were behind you, so as long as you kept sprinting you could get out of every encounter. This was the worst part of the game, apparently it is somehow fixed now and everything around you is simulated and not spawned, so you can spot danged and choose if you want to engage or not. The retarded choices mainly relate to mutants. Every single mutant was made worse to fight from its vanilla counterpart >Bloodsuckers were made much more fun and dynamic to fight, but they throw one million of them at all times and you and added an unnecessary AoE stun for them - which at the end made you never want to fight them >Chimeras no longer circle around you like a predator in a cat-and-mouse game, then jump on top of you and maul you in place >you can no longer jump over Pseudogiants AoE attack, which you could do in all vanilla games >Burers are now a puzzle fight of pick up all 30 weapons scattered around the place before you can fight them >and most mutants now knock you over, forcing you into a 4 second cut-scene, as a nail in the coffin They just made them three times more annoying rather then dangerous to fight. The gunplay was at least upgraded and stalker shootouts are fun. Also they fucked the economy on release and unless you abused a bug to make infinite money, you never had any money for anything. And bad optimization, the worst part were constant save corruptions, you had to manually move your save file once every hour for safekeeping, or it will corrupt and send you back 3 hours back in time to replay everything. And the absolute plethora of bugs I don't want to detail, but some of them could soft-lock you. <Positive The Zone feels amazing and the story is really good and interesting, which saves the experience a lot. Artifact hunting is fun, the atmosphere is great would be better with actual lighting and not lumen garbage, but graphics don't faze me if overall art direction is there, which thankfully is there, anomalies feel great, The Zone just really feels like a Zone, and it's the best Zone we got, just exploring key points of interest brings a lot of joy. And we have an actual story here. Lots and lots of other oldfags will scream retcons in your face and fume about lore inconsistencies to previous games, which is true, but what they did with the story was a good move. All the characters have personalities that make you build relations with them, they have their own motivations, each path you take tells you different secrets to piece the whole story together. It's great to follow and was the main motivation for me to finish the game, story was just great and felt like an actual story compared to the vanilla games that were always lacking in the story department, especially CoP that was all side-quests. Like a lot of faggots will scream that they ruined Scar compared to CS, when here in S2 Scar is the most interesting character to follow and has a lot of back-story, that makes you really like him at the end when you find out everything that happened to him and made him like that. And I can't comment on any culture wars bullshit since I don't care about that, I only care about the game
>>1815657 That one's been doing more than sucking blood.
>>1258530 >you don't like completely incorrect weighting of "survival" values in a game that would force a player to spend endless hours just to outfit yourself before a one minute mission in which you're shot in the shoulder and die instantly! >YOU are the one who needs a hobby! Watch as I parrot normalfag leftist narratives! Hmm.
>GAMMA still being discussed

>>1839667 I'm waiting for the 1.0 release to play it Until then I'll stick to IWP, been having lots of fun with espcially with even more mods added on top including Call of the Zone Quests, Anomaly maps, Alternate Detectors (with animated lights and way better sounds) and More Exoskeletons. Wish Gunslinger would come out, there's only like 5 guns left to finish, but the dev is now working at 1C Entertainment/Fulqrum Publishing. I burned out from Anomaly but had plenty of fun with it too for 5 years. Finished another vanilla run of SoC recently, probably doing another one again with the SWR Reanimation mod. Why does Anomaly and it's modpacks make so many peolle butthurt? It adds tons of neat mechanics which are fun to play with. One of my favorites is modding a new PDA tier that gives me the position of dead bodies to loot and temporary enemy positions on the PDA. I get bullying the redditor faggots who started with it, but if you're a veteran it's a great way to get more STALKER. Plus STALKER 2 has already been released and it's just a consolized dissapointment, there's no no need to be afraid Anomaly will affect it's development anymore. Though I'm just waiting for all the DLC to be released and better mod tools to get mask overlays to start playing STALKER 2. Took them one year to get NVGs and they have tiers (but I still wish they were futuristically tied to armors/helmets like the originals) The Early Access period will likely be over in 2 years at this pace, I'll probably get it then.
>>1839723 Fucking quick reply
>>1839723 >Gunslinger release Oh I thought that mod had finally released, like, years ago. There's lots of merges (OGSR + Gunslinger comes to mind) or uses of the Gunslinger weapons and item animations.
