Doom: The Dark Ages Anonymous 04/21/2025 (Mon) 14:42:42 Id: ae5b11 No. 1192402
New Trailer dropped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1i3YfGl5ag Will you RIP AND TEAR for this game next month?
>>1371681 >music isn't anything memorable like the 2016 or Eternal There's like 1 memorable track in 2016, rest is metalcore garbled mess.
>>1371681 >buying Eternal and the 2016 Fuck no
I love 2016 and hated Eternal, for the same reasons I loved Doom and hated Doom 2. Don't turn a game into a retarded arcade machine just to have more enemies on screen.
Do you guys want to know how easy it is to ruin the appeal of Bethesda's Doot games? Play Red Steel 2.
>>1355717 Definitely welcome. I always hated missing exploring maps due to hitting a not clear trigger point that locked you to the next section. Also >>1367235 is right though. If the level design was better, you wouldn't need that shit. >>1373038 Eternal shit the bed in a lot of ways to me. It mildly annoyed me how many normalfags will die hard defend that game. >the lore in this one sucks too I do enjoy how modern devs manage to fuck up such a simple concept.
>>1192402 Music doesn't work. It doesn't feel right like the previous two games and doom NEEDS good music. Everything is just brown again. Combat isn't punchy. Enemies don't lose bits from them. Hitting them feels more like Halo 4 prometheans. That's not a good thing at all. What a disappointment.
>>1255534 >fucking BANGER OST game Except this game doesn't have that. It's like prog metal and it's immediately noticeable.
>>1377694 >It mildly annoyed me how many normalfags will die hard defend that game. On the contrary, it's the tryhards that defended the game. Even here, you will never dissuade someone who's been told that Eternal is le l33t gaym for hardcode kids. Some people play for fun, others for challenge. The second can be made play the most abysmal, feels-like-work games with incredibly obtuse design and mechanics. They were born when casualization started removing harsh fail condition from games, so they enjoy any and all, to the detriment of the balance between fun and challenge.
>>1377706 I never understood what the fuck people were raving about, with the music in 2016 and Eternal. It's the most generic imaginable. Sure, it can set a mood, but it's like white noise that you will eventually tune out.
>>1247376 Where does a level start and end, however? Given that technology let Doom had larger connected areas, comparable to multiple ones linked by loading times today. Classic Doom's start and exit locations were just convenient markers, in long stream of locations. One may argue that every door with a key was the equivalent of a smaller level. There were even mods that linked the entirety of an episode's missions into a sole huge one. But if you ask me, the interconnected areas full of secrets in 2016 were ripped off from Metroid Prime. Silent explorations of every small ledge and cave isn't Doom, that would have been opening secret doors with more monsters inside.
Doom Etenral made the retarded decision that you could only hook shot onto things with the Shotgun. Seems TDA made the smarter choice that similar functionality should be available at all times with the shield charge. People quickly discovered that you can cancel the shields charge and use it as a masive speed boost.
>>1378361 Aka everyone is required to keep doing this retarded move tech forever, when all that was needed to move fast in Doom was to press the fucking W key.
>>1378701 Even classic Doom has strafe running to run faster than just holding W, and the wall running quirk where your movement speed is massively increased when running against the wall in just the right way.

I like that non-linear maps are the norm in this game. I'm not as much of a fan of the dragon segments. I was hoping that they would be more bullet hell than just lock on. I'll give the mech segments a pass as the game needed those due to Eternal teasing the atlans so often, but even they feel weaker than the mech segments in something like Serious Sam 4. I'm really pleased with the bigger melee focus too, reminds me of some GZDoom mods. Punching, stunning, shield bashing, parrying, all work pretty well.
This game is both fast and slow at the same time, fast in that doom guy's ability to sprint on the ground and momentum behind that speed is great. Slow in that you can't dash or double jump, along with the instant gun swap from Eternal. The lack of agility very noticeable and forces you to only be a parryfag, I don't mind the shield but the lack of options for movement and combat is just baffling. Also the hardware requirements are insanity and unreasonable, I'm not having issues due to having a Ryzen 9950x and an RTX 5080 OC'd to the max. But most Gamers on the PC side of things don't have gaytracing GPUs or have the heavy VRAM needed, when I had an RTX 2060 I had ZERO issues running Enteral when it came out. If you still have a RTX 2060 or a card that is 8GB this game will tell you to eat hairy ass, despite the game not being that different looking from Enteral. That along with the insane price of 79.99 USD or 89.99 CAD, I don't blame normalfags for telling id soft to fuck right off. If I wasn't gifted this game as gift I honestly wouldn't bother, this game is the carney for pricing and hardware recs for modern gaming. This game isn't pozzed or full of retarded left wing bullshit, but it proved that people aren't having this current trend.
>>1378361 Here's your upload, my bad.
>>1380776 What the fuck is even the point of having a map that big and movement tech like that if the enemies are completely dickless?
>>1381511 Bold of you to assume anyone working on the game cared about anything but their next paycheck.

>>1380765 I miss when GPUs manufacturers actually gave you good games like Dark Crusade and Dark Messiah.
>>1383425 Man those were good times.
>>1380776 Why does everything need to be open world shit these days I don't even hate OW stuff but not everything needs to have maps the size of Texas
>>1384468 It's not open world.
>>1384468 It's not open world. It's got very open levels, but no open world from what I've seen.
Am I the only person on 8/v/ who likes Doom 2016's multiplayer? It's like if Halo was good
>>1383425 Did it actually run stably on that one?
>>1410112 Yes >Halo It's Quake but shit >>1425085 Yeah, that thing was high end, when it actually meant something. Could run much later titles at lower resolutions as well.
Martin Hugo is a scourge on this IP.
>>1430462 Bethesda is a scourge on everything
>>1430481 There bad but Hugo Martin is the problem.
The only reason 2016 was good was because Stratton was in charge. Since Eternal Hugo has been like >I saw this video on youtube where this guy was switching weapons with every shot and I thought all gameplay videos should look like that And ruined what Eternal's original vision was several months before its release in 2018 resulting in a massive redesign while at the same time fucking over Mick Gordon and forcing the studio to use his retarded story. He's the only credited writer for the games since Eternal. With TDA he mentioned in an interview that he was watching Evil Dead and that's why the third one is medieval like that. Who even does this? Why is this dumbass even hired?
>>1430895 >Mick Gordon I feel for how hard he was fucked over and his music really really made Doomsiders OST standout.
>>1430895 bethesda
>>1430895 Mick gordon is a faggot and should have gotten screwed over harder.
>>1431290 Go away Hugo.,
>>1430895 >being surprised by nepofaggotry at Bethesda
Finished the game 100%, not counting UN or Pandemonium. Was breddy fun, shit story and kinda lame ending but it's good. I was expecting the game to suck but I'm pleasantly surprised, it's very fun and aesthetically is a lot closer to 2016 than Eternal which is what I wanted.
