Well /v/ thoughts on the original Dead Space series and the remake of DS1?
>>1249815 It and the animated stuff should've been shilled in the menu.
>>1248145 Rewatching this again was great, thank you anon.
>>1249862 Yeah I'm no picky eater, the cartoon is great I rate it 8/10 because fuck it I'm no snoob, and 7/10 the compilation of animes/3d movies because it's still dead space and I don't care how bad it looks dead space is a gem and I'll cherish anything coming out of this IP even ds3, even the mobile game. I even read the book. If god's a cunt I'll get snagged from this realm and thrown in the Ishimura's vents just so I can regret my shameless fanboyism.

>>1249981 You're welcome. Feels good to find fans of the good stuff on small islands of the internet. Cuz I don't trust youtube replies and all that, too many bots.

Why did everyone hate this ending? None of the games end with happy endings. It's a horror story. Who cares what happens to Earth when humans have colonized space? Also, I thought it was a great setup for Dead Space 4, which would have probably involved evacuating whoever was left on Earth, the moon, and orbiting space stations. I'm sure there would have been points where you'd explore a desolate Earth and come to terms with the fact that you are the reason all life is eradicated. Probably take a military spaceship and use it to pursue and exact vengeance on the brethren moons. It could have been cool. I'll always wonder what DS4 would have been.
>>1247560 I honestly feel the same way and it was disappointing how people obviously didn't play the remake at all and still shit themselves over it. probably the best horror game remake i've played since the OG RE1 remake on the GameCube >>1247648 >pointless the Dead Space PC port is dogshit and the games are trapped on the PS3/360 otherwise. I really wish we got a "remaster" instead of a full blown remake so they could have used that interest to actually remake DS2 (the best game in the series) but im not going to complain because of how well they did the game justice.
>>1247599 Incredibly poor choice >>1250618 I liked the new cultist group in the DLC where they're so fucking nuts and suicidal that even the necromorphs avoid them. Just absolutely batshit insane. >>1232560 I liked all 3 original games in different ways. Apparently if you play 3 with another person, Carter has different hallucinations which is really neat but sadly locked to coop. I do not care for the remaster.
>>1232585 I live near one of the worst ghettos in the entire country, just close the curtain and let them wander over to get removed without my involvement.
>>1250912 They were cool enemies. It was also fun shooting "necromorphs" in the head and having them die. A lot of people really hate DS3 but I liked a lot of the new creatures and lore it added to the universe.

>>1232585 >>1239208 I wanna say the one of the left is indeed a female. She's also >a spitter >literally IYKWIM
DS2 was the only game worth it in the series imo
>>1232560 Dead Space (1) is hands down one of my favorite horror games, and one of my top 10 favorite games. When it came out, it was probably the third horror game I ever played, (previously only played bits of RE1/RE3 rented from Blockbuster, hehe). I would dare say, if not game wise, at least of the horror genre it's 1-2 steps (98/100) away from being perfect. Given my personal tastes, I much prefer 1 over 2 (yes I know 2 is the favorite, especially by normies). But at the same time I prefer Scott's Alien over Cameron's Aliens; but that's a debate for another time. As for the series (lore-wise), it's the perfect encapsulation of Murphy's Law.
>>1247560 I still liked the remake, but there was only a few things I wished that EA Motive could have worked on. I wished that they could have had some stun lock feature for when you took damage, I feel like its either that or the animations that made combat in the original feel a bit more "weighty" for lack of a better word. Would also make combat more tense on higher difficulties. And I heard the PC port was pretty bad in terms of stutter, I got a PS5 just for physical releases and worse case scenarios where the PC ports have chronic issues. Still wished that it EA didnt have ludicrous sales expectations, because it made me fall back in love with the series again just for being a fun way to re-experience the original. I still hope that it does well so the team can have an excuse to remake Dead Space 3 but without all the bad shit like love triangles and human enemies. But with EA's focus on the Iron Man game and Battlefield, it's probably never happening. >>1250618 I guess its because it felt like "too much" of a cliffhanger for some, or because the DLC was basically what people wished the main game could have been like.
>original One of the best games ever made >remake Pozzed. It's a shame the spiritual successor is soulless and shit. There's nothing that quite hits that gritty space horror itch like Dead Space.
>>1275250 There are three games and multiple difficulties and different weapon upgrade paths I'm sure you'll be fine.
>>1247560 I would agree, but the way they butchered Hammond from being a very competent and collected leader of an emergency repair team to some fucking weirdo who's absurdly obsessed with one particular member of his team to the point where he couldn't care less about the DEI replacement in the shuttle dying was pretty tragic. Hammond's voice actor in the original was a lot better performance wise. Don't even get me started on how they fucked up Dr. Kyne.
>>1281761 >I would agree, but the way they butchered Hammond from being a very competent and collected leader of an emergency repair team DS1 non pozzed Hammond was keeping shit together despite clearly being overwhelmed, as he understood if he kept it together then so would the others. Actual leadership skills and a great black character who people liked.
>>1281761 >>1281910 Literally went from Benjamin L. Sisko cool, to modern day quota hire in one remake. Aside from me not really thinking a remake was necessary, the Hammond change just really made me want to stuff the devs mouths with camel shit. Change the VA, sure. Make him into a pussy? Bruh... >Hammond was buck broken by european devs...
>>1282174 Correction, he was buck broken by the Canucks.
>>1247560 >Smoother combat, better anti gravity, better weapon balance, It's a survival horror game where you're an telephone repairman who's using power tools to fight god-forsaken horrors from beyond the stars. What part about this demands "smooth combat" or a "better weapon balance"? >more exploration, extra content, better bosses Was any of that needed? Much more, did it actually "add" anything to the story? >Isaac talking added more to the story and his character Isaac doesn't have a character in the first DS. YOU are Isaac Clark. how you play the game is how Isaac reacts to the events happening around him. >4cuck flipped out about the tranny bathrooms but that's an insignificant issue. And you're making this another DmC sitation, where THAT game tried to cover it's ass as how people "only" flipped out over it because Dante no longer has white hair. Never mind the fact that there was never any "need" to remake the first Dead Space as the original game looks and plays fine and still looks and plays fine, the original game was complete in and of itself and didn't need to "add" anything in the first place, and (As perhaps the most ironic part of this defence) the remake completely misses the point that the government in the Dead Space universe are evil as fuck and batshit insane so updating the in-game facilities and poster to reflect "modern sensibilities" of inserting trannies and niggers everywhere shows how tone deaf and lacking in self-awareness the retards working at EA are. Never mind the fact that Dead Space, since the beginning, has been System Shock 3 in concept and development and Event Horizon in story.
>>1282215 I love Event Horizon so much.
>>1232560 >DS1 They made Dead Space for the Nintendo DS gen 1? Holy crackers. I'm so glad old consoles like that are still getting content released.
>>1275250 >remake >pozzed of course it was going to be. things are only trying to be turned around. plus look at who the devs were. But for as long as I live, I truly hope no big studio EVER gains the rights to remake Deus Ex. >spiritual successor what game?
You think she could survive the events of Dead Space 1 or is she fucked?
>>1282215 >Was any of that needed? I've been having a similar thought about sequels and prequel movies for a while. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. >>1371031 Probably. If she was the MC then that increases to yeah. >>1311321 Definitely an interesting movie.
>>1371031 She could do it. She has the will to survive.

>>1247560 DS1 didn't need better combat, isaac is literally a late bloomer who has never shot a gun before, and suddenly he has to massacre a entire ship full of monsters with miner tools. Even the way he upgraded his suit reflected just how inexperienced he was, it's literally his basic jumpsuit with a bunch of armor plating attached to it. Hell, the only real gun he ever gets his hands on is an assault rifle he doesn't even know how to use, as the alt fire is literally him raising it in the air and shooting in a cone (the real alt fire is a grenade launcher). He flies around like fucking superman in zero gravity environments exactly because his suit has no anti gravity boots like it does in 2 and 3, because he's just another grunt in a cheap suit.
>>1391992 Dead Space was such a great game.
I will never play a modern remake and i have no respect for niggers who unironically say modern remakes are better than the originals. Let's play something else, i list a bunch of things and you anons tell me how much of those are in the new Dead Space cashgrab: >Worse models >Worse lightning >Easier combat via more pick-ups, more health, less enemies etc. >More jumpscares >Random censorship >Yellow paint or a variant >Characters changed to be black, gay, or both >Unnecessary story retcons >Shoehorned anti-Trump propaganda >Extra content already available in base game is now DLC or "free update"
What fucking sense does it make, that the necromorph race (or whatever you may call the brethren moons) needs necrotic flesh? May as well need bags of trash, and wait in ambush every thursday for people to bring it out. If the markers are such powerful and perfect machines, why not use that kind of reliable technology instead of literal festering shit. If they're parasites that bunny hop on cadavers but are ultimately just lifeforms using a shell, that's fine, but it's evident that they really need those trash bags like they're the most precious resource in the universe.
>>1250618 It only happened because Carver made a very very stupid decision. And instead of rushing over to turn off the apocalypse and let everyone live, Isaac and Carver sat there gabbing for 30 seconds to enable the finale setpiece I would have liked overwhelming or unbeatable or unknowable odds to have forced the endgame to happen, not bad writing
>>1232560 >the remake of DS1? I enjoyed Callisto Protocol.
>>1247707 >normalizing trannies is a good thing I thought Israeli IP's were blocked, strange...
Have you played Dead Space Sabotage? It plays much better than DS1 though not as good as DS2. There is no dumb turret section for starters.
>>1431357 Was that the mobile game?
