Dead Space Anonymous 04/23/2025 (Wed) 22:40:12 Id: e02baf No. 1232560
Well /v/ thoughts on the original Dead Space series and the remake of DS1?
>hear a lot of noise outside >look out your window >see this What do?
A series unfortunately in EA's mitts.
>>1232585 "Erhm... Uhm... Is one of you guys female?... Hehe..."
>>1239208 Stop being horny for female monsters
Remake is redundant as the original game is still fine
>>1232585 I had nightmares about this shit. You can't do this to me.
>>1232560 >>1239264 Kill remakes. Behead remakes. Roundhouse kick remakes into the concrete. Slam dunk remakes into the trash can. Crucify filthy remakes. Defecate in remakes food. Launch remakes into the sun. Stir fry remakes in a wok. Toss remakes into active volcanoes. Urinate into remakes gas tank. Judo throw remakes into a wood chipper. Twist remakes heads off. Report remakes to the IRS. Karate chop remakes in half. Curb stomp pregnant remakes. Trap remakes in quicksand. Crush remakes in the trash compactor. Liquefy remakes in a vat of acid. Eat remakes. Dissect remakes. Exterminate remakes in the gas chamber. Stomp remakes skulls with steel toed boots. Cremate remakes in the oven. Lobotomise remakes. Mandatory abortions for remakes. Grind remakes in the garbage disposal. Drown remakes in fried chicken grease. Vaporise remakes with a ray gun. Kick remakes down the stairs. Feed remakes to alligators. Slice remakes with a katana. Impale remakes with a spear. Bash remakes skulls in with a maul or a mace. Judo throw remakes into a factory sized meat grinder. The original is great fun, just wish it ran better on PC
>>1232560 Yeah it's a good game, but the second was easily the best. And playing the third two years back it wasn't bad as an action third person shooter.
>>1239682 Agreed, 2 is peak. First half of 3 is the most fun part. Wish they'd gone more in that direction: exploring various derelict ships, flying around in space. Instead of the second half which turns into more of a Lost planet game. Ending part of 3 is a real slog and I wish it had couch co-op.
>>1239695 Yeah, didn't play 3 on release and had avoided it for years because of the awful marketing. It's incredible how badly they fucked it up.
>DS1 Great >DS2 Extremely good/you'll shoot your eye out kid >DS3 ? >DS1 Remake Different enough I didn't feel ripped off, but I prefer the pacing of the original. Spent more time than I really wanted checking the map. Seems like if you wanted to get all the goodies you'd have to backtrack quite a bit. Normally I don't mind backtracking, but I wasn't in the mood. I think the DS2 raptor shit is criminally underrated.
>>1232560 >thoughts on the original Dead Space series Loved it, even 3. >and the remake of DS1? Completely fucking unnecessary.
Does anyone know of any other games with as fun flying? Only know of Dark void.
>>1232560 The theme is so chilling.
I liked the remake more than the original but I liked dead space 2 more than the remake. Dead space 3 is the only dead space game I refuse to go back and play again, all other have been cleared multiple times.
>>1232585 Shit my pants, wait for a small moment of safety then run to my woodchipper in my backyard and immediately throw myself in while eating a bullet. Earth is so mega fucked and the only way out is to not be converted to the flesh mass.
>>1246353 >the only way out is to not be converted to the flesh mass Your cellular material will be converted anyway, but at least you won't be alive while it happens.
>>1246476 I mean people say that but my chances are far better as pulp then an intact necromorph. I feel like zombies in some part still have to experience reality as the altered lifeform given the structures are still there and potentially being used.
>>1232560 >thoughts on the original Dead Space series and the remake of DS1? I enjoyed the first and second game. They had a good balance of action and horror. I still replay them every few years. I played the third game in co-op and it felt like a different series though. A co-op Dead Space game could have been cool, but they didn't get much right in 3 to accommodate it. I never played the remake, as the older games still hold up well to me. Maybe one day I'll get to it.
>>1247002 Honestly best way to play the remake is to just get it for a dollar via goypass, since you can't just pirate it. >>1246748 Did you also play the android/mobile one? I thought it was pretty good for its time.
>>1232560 Ignition is my favorite Dead Space game
(3.28 MB 2560x4991 Necromorph Slashers.png)

>>1246531 Necromorphs are 100% necrotic tissue, their cells are dead. That's part of what makes them freaky and supernatural, by all modern understandings of biology they should not be capable of moving at all. Making them "still living" would've 100% upped the horrific factor though. >>1246748 Nah it isn't, I just played it a few weeks ago and 90% of the game is either crawling in a vent or slowly waiting for the 5 minutes of walking and talking to end so you can have 20 seconds of combat. Bosses are garbage too. To answer OP: I love them, I've beaten 1 and 2 countless times, but I still dislike the constant elevators and unskippable cutscenes, how little of the Sprawl we actually see in 2 and making Isaac a wisecracking generic action hero. I don't care if FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER is memeable, everything else about his character in 2 is annoying. >heh, stick around, I'm full of bad ideas >:3 Also I'm gonna be King Contrarian here and say I loved the zero grav in the first game and had no issues with orienting myself mid jump, get gud. 3 is shit and the remake is gay shit.
Remake was alright. More bothered by the removal of the turret section than by any of the other changes. Since the other remakes apparently got canceled, DS2 and 3 are on the block for a standard re-run.
It didn't need a remake. Held up fine, aside for EA's shit port having broken in-game vsync. EA just wanted a quick+cheap cashgrab, not a new Dead Space.

The remake is better than the original. Smoother combat, more exploration, better anti gravity, extra content, better bosses, better weapon balance, and Isaac talking added more to the story and his character. 4cuck flipped out about the tranny bathrooms but that's an insignificant issue. The only thing it does wrong is the character designs for basically every human are worse than the original Dead Space. Dead Space 2 is still the best game in the series though.
>>1247560 >insignificant Here's your (you), tranny nigger.
(1.05 MB 797x1024 dead space remake01.png)

>>1232560 Remake is mechanically and graphically better but the original had better characters and story.
>>1247560 There were tranny bathrooms in the remake? I didn't even notice, kek. >>1247191 I'm so fucked.
(366.99 KB 1024x768 mfw no deadspace 4.jpg)

>>1247648 Dead space is old enough it needed a remaster not a remake and the PC port was fucking trash for the OG. Tranny writers can't write shit without ruining everything which is why company's don't make anything new anymore because anything they make sucks and fails.
>>1247608 The bathroom signs in a couple places added a third person who was a mix of the male and female signals and 4cuck shat its diapers over it for weeks.
(136.49 KB 627x1080 Ubermorphoverviewds2.png)

>>1247191 I do think that Ubermorph is the closet example of the true alien form/side of the Slashers. There's base body plan within the necromorphs that shapes their purpose and form.
>>1247727 I hate the ubermorphs and the evolved versions of them, they look too alien to be scary. A mutilated corpse, face frozen in a mixture of fear and agony forever, is far freakier.
>>1247736 Never thought they were scary, but I do think they're cool looking though.
DS1 is amazing DS2 is amazing DS3 is too long and kind of crap but not so horrible its unplayable like a lot of people say The remake is OK but unnecessary, I never really felt like I needed the seamlessness and backtracking to areas and side quests and shit, but hey if its literally your only way to play a dead space game because you only own a modern console it does the job. Kind of unrelated but I bought Callisto on sale a while ago and I hope its not as complete dogshit as others say when I get to it
>>1232585 I take the axe and try digging my way from the first floor to the level below through the ceiling of the armory ( situated under my neighbor's apartment ) with luck I'll get there before necromorphs break in, and it's my only option anyway. I don't think charging necros with a sword or axe will do any good if you're not wearing a rig suit like Isaac did. Even with it he dies in a couple of hits and he's wearing something built to protect in dangerous zero G environments with machineries around him that'd kill millions of chinks in a liveleak video.
>>1239244 It stopped me from replaying the game for so long, I knew it was waiting for me down the hill whenever I tried replaying so I was stalling my progress voluntarily to not get there.
>>1245254 I know I post that in every DS thread but I don't care. I don't give a shit I'm desperate for more of that good shit and nothing hits as hard as dead space's atmosphere. https://youtu.be/HN5Kwv0Fb6k I know this little motion comic by heart and if I click play on it I know I'll be glued to it for 40 minutes. It's like alien/aliens, it's like the thing from Carpenter, it's so real you can touch it and the voice acting so vivid it feels like you could slip through the screen and live with the characters. Why is that so I don't know. Perhaps because the people behind it GAVE A SHIT. It's passion. It's not just "hurr durr big monsters kill them HUUR screamers", it's a universe built to be believable and with it I escape the monotone slow death of life that's aching and gnawing at my soul.
>>1248145 This comic is what sold me on DS.
>>1248900 Wish I watched it first. Makes the game a greater experience no doubts about it unfortunately I discovered it maybe four or five years ago while I played dead space on release. If it was up to me the game would get the motion comic available through the menu like an archive, same way mgs4 got lot of documents available detailing the lore and tidbits about the serie.
>>1249815 It and the animated stuff should've been shilled in the menu.
>>1248145 Rewatching this again was great, thank you anon.
>>1249862 Yeah I'm no picky eater, the cartoon is great I rate it 8/10 because fuck it I'm no snoob, and 7/10 the compilation of animes/3d movies because it's still dead space and I don't care how bad it looks dead space is a gem and I'll cherish anything coming out of this IP even ds3, even the mobile game. I even read the book. If god's a cunt I'll get snagged from this realm and thrown in the Ishimura's vents just so I can regret my shameless fanboyism.

>>1249981 You're welcome. Feels good to find fans of the good stuff on small islands of the internet. Cuz I don't trust youtube replies and all that, too many bots.
(81.48 KB 1280x720 maxresdefault-1817268664.jpg)

Why did everyone hate this ending? None of the games end with happy endings. It's a horror story. Who cares what happens to Earth when humans have colonized space? Also, I thought it was a great setup for Dead Space 4, which would have probably involved evacuating whoever was left on Earth, the moon, and orbiting space stations. I'm sure there would have been points where you'd explore a desolate Earth and come to terms with the fact that you are the reason all life is eradicated. Probably take a military spaceship and use it to pursue and exact vengeance on the brethren moons. It could have been cool. I'll always wonder what DS4 would have been.
>>1247560 I honestly feel the same way and it was disappointing how people obviously didn't play the remake at all and still shit themselves over it. probably the best horror game remake i've played since the OG RE1 remake on the GameCube >>1247648 >pointless the Dead Space PC port is dogshit and the games are trapped on the PS3/360 otherwise. I really wish we got a "remaster" instead of a full blown remake so they could have used that interest to actually remake DS2 (the best game in the series) but im not going to complain because of how well they did the game justice.
>>1247599 Incredibly poor choice >>1250618 I liked the new cultist group in the DLC where they're so fucking nuts and suicidal that even the necromorphs avoid them. Just absolutely batshit insane. >>1232560 I liked all 3 original games in different ways. Apparently if you play 3 with another person, Carter has different hallucinations which is really neat but sadly locked to coop. I do not care for the remaster.
>>1232585 I live near one of the worst ghettos in the entire country, just close the curtain and let them wander over to get removed without my involvement.
>>1250912 They were cool enemies. It was also fun shooting "necromorphs" in the head and having them die. A lot of people really hate DS3 but I liked a lot of the new creatures and lore it added to the universe.
(20.84 KB 526x524 marker.jpg)

>>1232585 >>1239208 I wanna say the one of the left is indeed a female. She's also >a spitter >literally IYKWIM
DS2 was the only game worth it in the series imo
>>1232560 Dead Space (1) is hands down one of my favorite horror games, and one of my top 10 favorite games. When it came out, it was probably the third horror game I ever played, (previously only played bits of RE1/RE3 rented from Blockbuster, hehe). I would dare say, if not game wise, at least of the horror genre it's 1-2 steps (98/100) away from being perfect. Given my personal tastes, I much prefer 1 over 2 (yes I know 2 is the favorite, especially by normies). But at the same time I prefer Scott's Alien over Cameron's Aliens; but that's a debate for another time. As for the series (lore-wise), it's the perfect encapsulation of Murphy's Law.
>>1247560 I still liked the remake, but there was only a few things I wished that EA Motive could have worked on. I wished that they could have had some stun lock feature for when you took damage, I feel like its either that or the animations that made combat in the original feel a bit more "weighty" for lack of a better word. Would also make combat more tense on higher difficulties. And I heard the PC port was pretty bad in terms of stutter, I got a PS5 just for physical releases and worse case scenarios where the PC ports have chronic issues. Still wished that it EA didnt have ludicrous sales expectations, because it made me fall back in love with the series again just for being a fun way to re-experience the original. I still hope that it does well so the team can have an excuse to remake Dead Space 3 but without all the bad shit like love triangles and human enemies. But with EA's focus on the Iron Man game and Battlefield, it's probably never happening. >>1250618 I guess its because it felt like "too much" of a cliffhanger for some, or because the DLC was basically what people wished the main game could have been like.
>original One of the best games ever made >remake Pozzed. It's a shame the spiritual successor is soulless and shit. There's nothing that quite hits that gritty space horror itch like Dead Space.
>>1275250 There are three games and multiple difficulties and different weapon upgrade paths I'm sure you'll be fine.
>>1247560 I would agree, but the way they butchered Hammond from being a very competent and collected leader of an emergency repair team to some fucking weirdo who's absurdly obsessed with one particular member of his team to the point where he couldn't care less about the DEI replacement in the shuttle dying was pretty tragic. Hammond's voice actor in the original was a lot better performance wise. Don't even get me started on how they fucked up Dr. Kyne.
>>1281761 >I would agree, but the way they butchered Hammond from being a very competent and collected leader of an emergency repair team DS1 non pozzed Hammond was keeping shit together despite clearly being overwhelmed, as he understood if he kept it together then so would the others. Actual leadership skills and a great black character who people liked.
>>1281761 >>1281910 Literally went from Benjamin L. Sisko cool, to modern day quota hire in one remake. Aside from me not really thinking a remake was necessary, the Hammond change just really made me want to stuff the devs mouths with camel shit. Change the VA, sure. Make him into a pussy? Bruh... >Hammond was buck broken by european devs...
>>1282174 Correction, he was buck broken by the Canucks.
>>1247560 >Smoother combat, better anti gravity, better weapon balance, It's a survival horror game where you're an telephone repairman who's using power tools to fight god-forsaken horrors from beyond the stars. What part about this demands "smooth combat" or a "better weapon balance"? >more exploration, extra content, better bosses Was any of that needed? Much more, did it actually "add" anything to the story? >Isaac talking added more to the story and his character Isaac doesn't have a character in the first DS. YOU are Isaac Clark. how you play the game is how Isaac reacts to the events happening around him. >4cuck flipped out about the tranny bathrooms but that's an insignificant issue. And you're making this another DmC sitation, where THAT game tried to cover it's ass as how people "only" flipped out over it because Dante no longer has white hair. Never mind the fact that there was never any "need" to remake the first Dead Space as the original game looks and plays fine and still looks and plays fine, the original game was complete in and of itself and didn't need to "add" anything in the first place, and (As perhaps the most ironic part of this defence) the remake completely misses the point that the government in the Dead Space universe are evil as fuck and batshit insane so updating the in-game facilities and poster to reflect "modern sensibilities" of inserting trannies and niggers everywhere shows how tone deaf and lacking in self-awareness the retards working at EA are. Never mind the fact that Dead Space, since the beginning, has been System Shock 3 in concept and development and Event Horizon in story.
>>1282215 I love Event Horizon so much.
>>1232560 >DS1 They made Dead Space for the Nintendo DS gen 1? Holy crackers. I'm so glad old consoles like that are still getting content released.
>>1275250 >remake >pozzed of course it was going to be. things are only trying to be turned around. plus look at who the devs were. But for as long as I live, I truly hope no big studio EVER gains the rights to remake Deus Ex. >spiritual successor what game?
You think she could survive the events of Dead Space 1 or is she fucked?
>>1282215 >Was any of that needed? I've been having a similar thought about sequels and prequel movies for a while. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. >>1371031 Probably. If she was the MC then that increases to yeah. >>1311321 Definitely an interesting movie.
>>1371031 She could do it. She has the will to survive.
(133.92 KB 858x1200 17210389_p0.jpg)

>>1247560 DS1 didn't need better combat, isaac is literally a late bloomer who has never shot a gun before, and suddenly he has to massacre a entire ship full of monsters with miner tools. Even the way he upgraded his suit reflected just how inexperienced he was, it's literally his basic jumpsuit with a bunch of armor plating attached to it. Hell, the only real gun he ever gets his hands on is an assault rifle he doesn't even know how to use, as the alt fire is literally him raising it in the air and shooting in a cone (the real alt fire is a grenade launcher). He flies around like fucking superman in zero gravity environments exactly because his suit has no anti gravity boots like it does in 2 and 3, because he's just another grunt in a cheap suit.
>>1391992 Dead Space was such a great game.
I will never play a modern remake and i have no respect for niggers who unironically say modern remakes are better than the originals. Let's play something else, i list a bunch of things and you anons tell me how much of those are in the new Dead Space cashgrab: >Worse models >Worse lightning >Easier combat via more pick-ups, more health, less enemies etc. >More jumpscares >Random censorship >Yellow paint or a variant >Characters changed to be black, gay, or both >Unnecessary story retcons >Shoehorned anti-Trump propaganda >Extra content already available in base game is now DLC or "free update"
What fucking sense does it make, that the necromorph race (or whatever you may call the brethren moons) needs necrotic flesh? May as well need bags of trash, and wait in ambush every thursday for people to bring it out. If the markers are such powerful and perfect machines, why not use that kind of reliable technology instead of literal festering shit. If they're parasites that bunny hop on cadavers but are ultimately just lifeforms using a shell, that's fine, but it's evident that they really need those trash bags like they're the most precious resource in the universe.
>>1250618 It only happened because Carver made a very very stupid decision. And instead of rushing over to turn off the apocalypse and let everyone live, Isaac and Carver sat there gabbing for 30 seconds to enable the finale setpiece I would have liked overwhelming or unbeatable or unknowable odds to have forced the endgame to happen, not bad writing
>>1232560 >the remake of DS1? I enjoyed Callisto Protocol.
>>1247707 >normalizing trannies is a good thing I thought Israeli IP's were blocked, strange...
Have you played Dead Space Sabotage? It plays much better than DS1 though not as good as DS2. There is no dumb turret section for starters.
>>1431357 Was that the mobile game?
